<PP-F3> Quest: Worn out Welcome (Eatos & Vargas)

Recommended Posts

The third floor was very different to the floor where Eatos had created her own home, that being the cool ice floor of floor 4. However, she wouldn't lie and say it was unpleasant. However, the trip down was far more than just to see the floor. No, this trip has a purpose. She'd heard that, on the 3rd floor, she could get herself armour made by an NPC armour master. After witnessing just how effective armour could be in reducing damage, it stood to logic to get some.

However, she was basically out of materials with which to craft, yet alone to craft herself armour to protect herself. Therefore, she planned to use this quest to acquire some. After that, she'd be able to go searching for more materials, and in turn, make better equipment. But each road had a first step, and in this case, it was this one. Although that being said, she'd heard that the quest involved combat. Even with her blade, Rapier of Wrath, she didn't want to face anything alone. So as she stood near the portal, she opened up the guild menu, and selected a player to message. A player who she sorta got along with, plus, much like Atzo, she figured it would be good to meet all her guild-mates, even more as a blacksmith. After all, customers were going to come to her for weapons and armour, hopefully.

'Vargas...He seemed nice when I spoke to him before, maybe him?' She figured why not, the worst comes, he says he's too busy to help her out, then she'd move onto the next member.

"Hey Vargas, i'm doing a quest on the 3rd floor, but there's combat involved and i'm not entirely confident going it by myself. Would you be able to please lend me a hand" she wrote, and sent the message to him. After hitting send, the girl sat herself down on a bench hear the portal, and waited. Hopefully for a reply, or a fox leaping out of the portal.

It was rather perfect timing for him when he received the message from Eatos. He'd been wondering what he should do about getting to know his guild mates more. For the most part, he'd really only partied with Atzo primarily. The fact that she wanted help with a quest on the third floor was a little unnerving. He remembered doing a quest on the third floor a long time ago. The worn out welcome quest, which required he fight a dark elf, had nearly gotten him killed.

Shaking off the morbid memory he made his way to the teleportation platform. If this was the same quest he was going to make sure to end it quickly before he allowed himself to allow it to affect his mood. He didn't need a repeat of the last time he had traveled along the third floor. Though, last time he was only trying to check out what some of the floors had to offer.

"Delilah," Vargas said as he walked onto the teleportation platform. Instantly, he was overcome by the system graphics as he was transported to the third floor's main settlement. He soon saw the village of Delilah as the graphics dispersed from his person, revealing him stepping off. Looking around, his ears twitched as they listened intently and his tail flicked about casually. Spotting Eatos, he walked over to her. "Hey Eatos. Here I am like you asked." Catching her eyes in his he questioned why, why did those amber eyes haunt him every time he looked back into them. "What's the quest anyways?"

Eatos smiled as Vargas exited out of the teleportation platform, and he was even wearing his guild cloak that made him look like a fox! She smiled as he moved his way over to her, although, she did spot something was slightly amiss when his eyes met her own. It was the first time she'd noticed this, even if it wasn't the first time this had occurred between the pair of them.

"Thank you so much for coming Vargas" She said to him, him arriving had meant the quest she wanted to do, Worn out Welcome, where she would be able to acquire some armour, which would protect her until she had the materials to make herself some armour. It wasn't do or die necessarily, but it would limit which quests she could do, as well as which floors she could go to without checking for dangers and risks of the mobs. While she never intended to be in a place she could be killed by mobs by herself, she planned to limit the possibilities of this occurring.

"It's one called, Worn out Welcome. It's basically gathering materials for armour from an NPC, It hinted that there was combat involved though, and i'd rather not risk going down...I hope that's ok, it's just, going alone seems too risky for me"

Vargas sighed at the mention of the quest that left a foreboding mark on his psyche. Why did it have to be this quest? Obvious answer, cause it was easy and life just wanted to torment him. The quest reward was decent for starting out, which would definitely be helpful to Eatos since she was still fairly low leveled compared to himself. Though, comparing himself to the front lines there was an even bigger gap.

Steeling his resolve he nodded his head, "Well you'd be right in assuming that. The quest involves fighting a dark elf..." he frowned slightly at mentioning the mob, "...but it should be fairly easy to deal with. It probably won't take very long so if you want we can continue fighting other mobs while we're here or even try to find a dungeon. I recently got my Howl skill so I should be able to draw aggro on to myself." At the conclusion of his statement he gave her a warm smile so as to make her feel comfortable about  having him.

This time, she did notice it. Vargas' frown at the mention of the dark elf they'd have to fight in order to get what they wanted..Well, what she wanted actually. She knew he had no obligation to help her, but she knew she was useless in combat and didn't want to take the risk of getting killed.

She listened to Vargas talk about what was required to complete the quest. Combat against a Dark Elf, which, well, as long as it didn't attack her, she felt confident. After all, it was a low level quest and Vargas was a high level player. The chances of him dying were slim for a quest like this, so what did she have to lose? Hopefully nothing, although, she'd never forgive herself if he died protecting her on such a selfish endeavour, like this quest.

"Thank you so much for all of this Vargas, I really appreciate it all" His warm smile, did indeed, have its intended effect. From that alone, she felt confident in their ability to achieve itl

"It's this way I think..." She said, slowly starting to move towards the exit of the town, towards where this 'Dark Elf' was.

With Eatos leading the way they made their way out of the town and onto the open floor. He knew it was gonna be a little while before they reached the Forest of Wavering Mist. It wouldn't take long to find the dark elf once they reached the outskirts of the forest since the mob resided in the center of the area at it's small camp. In the meantime, they had to travel across the plains that stretched between Delilah and the forest. Wanting to break the silence after having been walking for about ten minutes, "So what armour do you plan on getting? The leather coat or dragon cuirass?" He knew what the two chooses were since he'd done the quest himself. He no longer wore the leather coat he's chosen since he liked the bonuses that his current equipment provided for what he wanted to do. He still planned on altering it some but for now it was decent.

Despite traveling with someone, the silence was rather welcome. She did enjoy the fact that Vargas wasn't pressing her, wasn't forcing her to talk and talk like other people. After 10 minutes of silence, he broke the ice. Admittedly, she hadn't thought about it too much because, despite the reward of the quest, she didn't need it. She had made herself armour of a higher quality than what the quest was offering, but a quest that would boost her levels up was always welcome.

"Well, i was thinking the leather one, but i'm not sure. The thing is, i already have armour that's better than the quest reward" Despite this claim, the girl was wearing her civilian clothing. Evidently, she didn't feel the need to equip her armour just yet, although her weapon was hanging on her hips, her Rapier. Visible for all to see. "That's the advantage of being a blacksmith, i can always ensure i have the best equipment possible for me and others that need it"

She was stretching the truth slightly, she was always in the place for profit, but that was to be expected. In a game like this, the economy needed to keep alive. She was simply benefiting from this, one of many.
