[PP-F4] Forgotten Legacy Part 1 <Beginner Dungeon>

Recommended Posts

Suddenly Itzal heard something and turned around.  "Three frost trolls, coming this way.  We can each take on one I believe?"  Corvo nodded and Dreadshot grunted.  Obviously she was confident in her abilities against a single mob.  That's when the trolls charged in, roaring at the trio viciously.  Itzal didn't attack this time.  This time, he threw the debuff that would reduce it's accuracy and evasion.  It activated and the troll stumbled for a moment but it's momentum kept it on track and it managed to get a hold of Itzal.  The troll slammed him against the ground and began to pound on him with it's fists.  Itzal watched as Velnia shot him with lightning, causing him to stumble backward and Itzal rolled to his left, avoiding the next blow and leaping to his feet, drawing Faithkeeper.  He needed to stay focused after all.  He watched as Corvo and Dreadshot took on their targets and he knew he didn't need to worry about them.

The frost troll roared when it's hands hit the cold floor and it turned to face Itzal but didn't see anything.  Confused it started to look left and right until it saw Corvo and Dreadshot.  Seeing only those targets it began to move towards them but failed to see Itzal activating the charge skill behind it.  Itzal shot forward and leaped, stabbing his blade into the troll from behind and activating meteor strike, landing one hundred and forty three damage on the troll.  The monster roared in pain and tried to reach Itzal but he held onto his sword which remained in the troll's back.  The creature tried to ram it's back into the wall to get rid of him and Itzal pulled his sword out, leaping over the troll's head and slashing down at it's face as he did so, causing it to snarl.  When it hit the wall it became a bit fazed.  There was no way for it to win but Itzal wanted to try and preserve his own health as long as possible.  He did have one more to fight before the boss after all.

Itzal turned his focus back to the frost troll that wanted to kill him.  The monster rushed at him but it's movement was sluggish and off balance.  Itzal was able to easily dodge the attack.  The monster ran head first into the wall and it pounded it real hard, causing dust to fall down to the ground.  Velnia rushed at it and sent a volt of electricity towards the troll's rear end to which the monster roared with hate and shot around, rushing at Itzal again.  Itzal however didn't dodge.  He rushed right back at it.  He released Meteor Strike, using the strikes to keep the monster's arms and head from hitting him and instead knocked them away.  He stabbed the monster by the end of the sword art and watched as another one hundred and thirty two damage was drained from it's health pool.  Corvo and Dreadshot seemed to be working together fluently, almost as if they were in a dance, switching between targets, each using their advantage to advance the other player further.

The troll took a few steps back from the last impact, wiping where blood would have come out if the game had it and looked at it's hand as if it were really there.  The creature switched from shock to an evil snarl, gritting it's teeth at Itzal and narrowing it's eyes.  Itzal held his sword out, showing that he was ready for the troll.  Velnia flew away and came back with a tiny bowl of pop corn.  Itzal stopped asking himself where she got this stuff so he just let that one go.  The Troll rushed forward with an almighty roar while Itzal shot forward as well.  He released Meteor strike on the troll, with each strike having to avoid the troll's huge clawed hands.  he would duck, spin, even jump as he finished the sword art in order to keep himself from getting hit.  After finishing it he turned his gaze to check on the ninja's.  They really did fight like ninja's, agile, swift, and quick to kill.  It appeared that one was already dead and the other was nearly deceased.  Itzal would need to make sure this one joined it's family.

The monster's movement had become more reckless, more vicious, more random.  The troll slammed it's fist hard against the wall, causing more dust and a few icicles to drop down.  When they shattered all players took note of it.  Corvo sheathed his blade and went to see about opening the hidden door while Dreadshot worked on finishing off the troll.  The monster Itzal was fighting started pulling huge chunks of rock and ice and threw them at him.  He raced towards the troll, dodging the huge obstacles, leaping over them, deflecting smaller ones with his blade, and when he got close enough he released meteor explosion, dealing yet another one hundred and thirty two damage on the frost troll.  It shot it's hand out at him but Itzal dodged it and slashed at the arm with his sword, cutting it off.  The troll roared and slammed it's other hand towards him, hitting the wall instead.  The troll was making the room unstable...

Itzal watched as Dreadshot finished off her troll and shot for the exit as more icicles began to fall down.  Itzal dodged the falling crystals and the flailing troll and released Meteor strike one last time, finishing off the troll and watched it shatter into thousands of crystals.  The reward menu and saw he had received three thousand four hundred and twenty col, as well as a consumable that increased his LD by two points:  rare food item.  He stared at the food.  It was a biscuit with eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage and honey inside of it.  He stored it in his inventory before charging after the hidden door.  Icicles shot down from above him which he dodged along the way and soon enough he threw himself down and slid the rest of the way to avoid the last icicle as well as the falling ceiling behind him.  He leaped to his feet rather quickly, panting a little and grinning as he nodded to the two ninja's.  "Well then.  That was a tad unexpected."

Corvo could see that Itzal wasn't harmed too much and could see his health already rising up slowly.  Thus he glanced at Dreadshot who gave him a firm nod which he replied with.  The two sheathed their swords and Itzal already had.  He looked around and started to get a bit worried.  "Wait where's Velnia?"  He lost her once he could not lose her again.  Itzal activated reveal a second before Corvo did and turned around.  He saw her sitting in the rubble in the collapsed room blinking with confusion.  "Velnia can you hear me?  Follow my voice!"  Velnia heard and grinned before breathing in deep.  Itzal saw what she was doing and his eyes shot open.  "Uh, we might want to become friends with the wall for a moment."  The three placed their backs against the wall and waited.  Itzal saw Velnia shoot a literal bolt of lightning that shot through the rubble and ricochet through the tunnels, the sound itself nearly making them temporarily deaf.  Which was a good thing because it seemed Dreadshot was letting loose a stream of curses.  Itzal saw Velnia plop on his shoulder with four materials.

Itzal saw the materials and couldn't help himself from beginning to chuckle, to which Corvo began to join him and shook his head.  "Man, that is one interesting familiar.  I've never seen anything like it.  Where did you find her?"  Itzal laughed a little at that comment.  "It is a long story.  One that involves a warg.  Remind me to tell you sometime."  Corvo chuckled for a bit more when Dreadshot shoved past them, making her way down the tunnel.  Corvo shook his head and moved forward.  It was rather clear that while Corvo could be a pure ninja, silent, mysterious, and swift if he needed to be, he was more gentle than at first perceived whereas Dreadshot tended to ignore chit chat and seemed over focused on the task at hand.  Itzal wondered what her story was.  He was pretty sure Corvo knew but he also knew that it wasn't his place to ask about it.  Velnia landed on him and showed four more materials to him which he inserted into his inventory.

The three walked rather quietly further into the tunnel until they hit the next room.  Itzal could see the pathway that lead upward towards the room where he ran into Corvo and Dreadshot.  This room was rather...  Different.  It was bigger, more room with three large columns of rock and ice supporting it.  If the three broke, the room would most likely collapse.  There were many bones that littered the floor as well as what seemed like makeshift animal like beds.  And on the other side waiting for them, were five frost trolls.  All of which did not like the sight of strangers.  Corvo nodded.  "Itzal we can handle two each.  We've done that before, but could you take on the one by yourself?"  Itzal turned to him and nodded, pulling out his second debuff.  "Would you mind me assisting you guys first?"  He threw the debuff at them which dropped it's accuracy down by two points which wasn't really needed.  After that the monsters roared and charged but Itzal easily dodged the frost troll.  The last mobs in the dungeon were about to be taken out.

The troll turned around and charged at him again but this was also where Itzal would charge back.  He activated the skill and shot at the monster, releasing a flurry of strikes by performing the Meteor strike Sword art, dealing the damage before leaping over the troll and pushing past it.  The creature roared in defiance of course, and shot it's arm around, attempting to hit Itzal.  Itzal stabbed his sword into the beast's arm and swung underneath it, pulling the sword out and jumping off it's other arm that was swinging by.  He continued to evade the frost troll's pitiful attempts to hit him, seeking to find a weak point where he could land a critical hit if possible.  At the same time he could hear the two ninja's taking on the two other trolls.  This time they didn't take the time to switch between targets as they both had two mobs to take down at the same time.  Itzal watched Velnia fly around, getting ready to fire some lightning upon the two monsters.

The troll roared as it tried to get it's hands on Itzal, growing more and more angry and frustrated at his evasive movement.  Itzal continued to leap around the monster, thrusting his sword into it's body to aid in his evasion, and scanned the monster for any weakness.  Then he spotted it.  There was a section on it's back that had less fur than the rest of it's body, therefore leaving more of the skin exposed.  Itzal had to move away before getting attacked but now he had an area to target.  He evaded the monster for a bit before tricking it.  Once it took the bait and dived at him, Itzal leaped up and turned around, releasing Meteor Break on the troll, stabbing it through the patch he had found and landed a hyper critical hit.  The troll roared with hatred and pain and tried to catch Itzal but he was still too fast for the monster and evaded it's attempt.

Itzal leaped backwards and the troll leaped after him, it's open claw nearly grabbing hold of his trench coat but not close enough.  Surprisingly it didn't stumble and regained it's balance nearly instantly, shooting forward again.  That's when Velnia swooped underneath him and shot a strong volt of lightning at the monster, striking around the torso area and forcing the frost troll back.  After that happened Itzal saw another opening, for two reasons actually.  The first was that the monster was trying to regain it's balance instead of getting it back in a flash.  The second was where the lightning struck had reduced it's fur like it was on the back.  Itzal shot forward and released Meteor strike, landing a critical hit on the monster and knocking it on it's back.  It roared as it fell but it's roar was silenced by two other trolls getting killed, one by Corvo and the other by Dreadshot.

The monster was getting very close to dying.  Only two hits would be all it required before the monster's health dropped down to zero.  This made the monster very agitated and aggressive.  Not that it wasn't these things beforehand.  The monster became even more destructive than the troll he fought before and tried to lunge at one of the columns.  Itzal was going to call to Velnia to stop him but she was way ahead of him.  She flew around and shot electricity at him which it blocked but that was just a distraction.  Velnia caught the fur on it's hair with her hind claws and used the speed and momentum to throw it on it's back on the ground.  When she did Itzal lunged forward and released Meteor Break on it's weak point, landing yet another hyper critical.  The troll roared in agony but that wouldn't be the end.  One final hit was required.

The troll began to get back up and Itzal tried to hit it again but this time it blocked the blow with it's hand, growling menacingly at him.  It's eyes were red and vicious, bloodlust clearly taking over.  It was obvious that it would gladly sacrifice itself to kill Itzal.  But that would obviously not happen.  Itzal was not going to die, let alone die in a dungeon against a frost troll.  Velnia shot the troll in it's back's weakspot causing it to roar in pain while Itzal released Meteor break from the front, bringing it's health down to zero.  When it shattered he heard the same sounds from the other two mobs.  The fight was over.  He watched as the loot menu popped up, revealing that he had received three thousand six hundred col as well as a perfect quality damage potion.  He stored the potion and sighed.  Now that the fight was over he'd need to recover his energy in order to be prepared for the boss itself.  He wondered what it would be.

He sighed as he sheathed his sword and watched as Corvo and Dreadshot came over.  Itzal nodded to them as they did, Velnia leaping into Itzal's sack, looking for food.  He grabbed her tail and pulled her out, holding her out and just staring at her while she stared back.  "Don't.  I'll feed you after this is all over."  Velnia made a pfft sound and puffed smoke towards his face before taking flight and gliding around to explore some more.  Itzal turned to the ninja's.  "Well now, that really is some familiar.  I suppose that just makes the boss then.  Shouldn't be too long.  Perhaps this dungeon will give you enough experience to deal more damage next time."  Itzal nodded.  He had been dealing rather pitiful damage lately but that would soon change.  Once he hit rank four charge he'd save up for ferocity.  After that he'd get more battle healing and light armor.  Itzal just hoped it wouldn't take too too long.  Itzal scanned the area for any materials that might be present or hidden from sight, but he didn't spot anything.  And from the looks of it, Velnia didn't either.

Itzal watched as Velnia started looking for anything edible in the vicinity and shook his head.  "Yeah that's my hope.  After I hit rank four charge I'll get ferocity.  Once that happens, I'll gain ranks in light armor and battle healing.  I'll flip flop between them so that I'll slowly gain mitigation and healing abilities.  Once I hit rank three light armor I can get athletics and gain even more damage.  After that all I need to do is max out charge to finish improving my damage.  Then I continue to work on light armor and battle healing until they're maxed out."  There was a bit of silence as the two ninja's processed what he said.  "And after that?  What's your goal once you've finished those out?"  Itzal thought about it for a moment.  "Probably extended weight.  That way I can carry more than one debuff at a time, as well as carry extra healing songs or teleport crystals for other players who need them.  That's my hope at least.  I'm a scout and I like to be prepared regardless."  Itzal watched as Velnia played around with a few materials before she brought them over to Itzal.

Corvo listened to Itzal's words and nodded.  "Alright then, I can understand that bit.  It's a smart move too, especially since most players seem to forget to bring buffs at all, the fools.  Asterios is a prime example of that."  Itzal blushed a little bit when he mentioned Asterios but refrained from explaining that he had forgotten to use consumables as well.  The previous bosses had been rather easy and tame, mainly because they were fighting high and low leveled players he thought.  When Asterios came out of nowhere and turned out to be extremely over powered, Itzal had done calculations and decided that the boss was more powerful and dangerous than Mortha, especially since he had two weaker bosses and could summon wave after wave of minions.  Regardless however, the past was in the past.  There wasn't anything they could do to change that.  Velnia found some more materials and brought them to Itzal.  This trip was really racking up the materials he noticed.

"So you heard about that eh?  Yeah, Asterios was a very messy event.  I really wish Kayaba had thought twice and double, triple, even quad checked it before releasing it.  If this wasn't a death game I would say it was a pretty sweet boss.  However that's not the case at all.  Since he made this a death game, he should have made event and field bosses a little bit easier."  Corvo listened and nodded.  Before he could reply however, Dreadshot spoke up.  "It is possible that Kayaba cares to some degree about the people.  One strong theory is that Kayaba wants to be the God of this world, and it would be pointless to rule no one.  However there is also the case where he really doesn't care.  Either theory has it's pros and cons."  Itzal could tell she would only talk when she was going to either challenge him, or share words of wisdom.  Itzal paused as he spotted a mithril shard and picked it up along with the gemstones before returning his attention to Dreadshot.

"That is a good point, although while I still don't agree with him, I'm hoping his personality is more towards the first of those two theories."  Dreadshot nodded and fell silent once again.  Itzal thought about it for a moment.  Human's wanted to play God all the time, but it was just fundamentally impossible for that to happen.  For one, to be God one had to be everywhere at once, know every single thing that was occurring.  Kayaba may be able to monitor, but only one thing at a time.  He had the Cardinal system run and observe everything, and even then the system had to process something before it could act.  The God Itzal knew was everywhere at once, knew everyone before time and creation came into existence, was completely sinless and completely just, and yet merciful and full of grace.  He knew what each and every tiny electron and neutron was doing, when and where.  He was the ultimate creator, the most loving father, and the only savior.  At least in Itzal's opinion that is.  Itzal spotted more materials while Velnia flew around and inserted them into his inventory.

Itzal and the others continued to navigate their way around, keeping their eyes peeled.  Itzal, through the use of reveal, spotted another room nearby.  He mentioned it to the other two and the three made their way over.  When they entered it, it appeared to be a room similar to the furnished one from before.  However there was something rather different in this room.  Itzal could feel it.  They began to investigate it and as they walked around Itzal spotted something.  He smiled.  "Well how about that.  Hey guy's, I found a chest!"  The two ninja's turned around and walked over.  Itzal studied the chest carefully, noting that this lock was far different than any of the other chests he had ever come across.  "That's the chest?  It looks to me like the lock isn't there.  It's just fastened shut."  Itzal nodded.  It did seem that way didn't it?  But things weren't as they seemed.
