[PP-F4] Forgotten Legacy Part 1 <Beginner Dungeon>

Recommended Posts

Itzal stretched his hands before getting to work.  "This is a lock no doubt about it.  It's just not a lock and key.  Well, there is a key but it's already in there.  No, this is a puzzle lock.  Ideally only the person who made the lock in the first place would be able to unlock it.  However......  I'm pretty sure I can figure this one out."  Corvo and Dreadshot glanced at each other before returning to look at Itzal.  Itzal only moved extremely slowly as he analyzed the lock.  He fiddled with it until he discovered how the puzzle worked.  Grinning he knew how to unlock it now.  After that his hands moved swiftly and nimbly, burning through the process in seconds before it clicked and the chest opened up.  When he did he discovered eight hundred col, ten materials, as well as two unidentified perfect weapons, and one perfect consumable.  All probably tier one.

Itzal noticed something weird about the items.  He noticed that he couldn't pull them out into the open, let alone check their stats or names.  Itzal tried to open them up in the menu when words popped up instead:  <Identify item?>  Itzal blinked with surprise.  Corvo shifted with mild shock as well.  "Well that's new.  Must be an update."  Itzal nodded and selected yes, waiting for the item to be identified.  The first weapon completed and it turned out to be a katana.  Itzal equipped it and the handle was wrapped with red and black straps while the blade itself was black with a red streak through the center.  Dreadshot cocked an eyebrow at the weapon.  Itzal handled the weapon and although he wasn't a pro, he could tell it was a perfect weapon.  He then tried the second weapon which turned out to be a dagger.  The handle was ebony wood while the blade itself was a misty gray, mist seeming to slide off of it.  Hikoru might like this one he thought before returning them to the menu.  When he tried identifying the consumable it simply stated:  <Must see Merchant>  Eh, figures.

Weapons identified:

Itzal watched as Corvo straightened.  "Well then, this will complicate things for us Dreadshot."  Dreadshot nodded and Itzal closed his menu.  "Well at any rate, I think the boss room is next.  I'd like to clear out this dungeon and call it a day now.  I'll come back when I'm stronger."  Corvo nodded with approval.  "Agreed.  Come on then, let's go take down the dungeon boss."  The three of them made their way down the tunnels and towards a rather large room.  When they walked in Itzal stopped in his tracks and looked up at his target.  Obviously this frost troll was either the father or the mother of the others, and it looked like it was more of a father than anything else.  This one was intelligent enough to wield a huge bone and stone club.  It turned to the group and growled evilly.  Two frost trolls came out from the walls as well and Corvo and Dreadshot drew their weapons.  "We'll handle the minions.  You get the boss." Itzal nodded and the four activated charge.  Itzal lashed out on the boss and landed a critical hit, dealing better than usual damage, as well as paralysis and bleed.  The monster roared but was cut mid way as it was paralyzed and fell to the ground.

While the boss was down Itzal scanned the area and saw that the individual frost trolls had roared for help, and reinforcements came.  Both Corvo and Dreadshot were fighting two frost trolls each.  Itzal's job however, was not them.  It was the boss who was currently lying on the ground paralyzed.  Itzal studied it for a moment and realized that the boss looked quite familiar to a mob in the Skyrim games.  Much like the frost trolls were.  Itzal charged his sword art, Velnia beside him, and rushed at the monster.  He released meteor break on the boss and dealt decent amount of damage, watching it's health go down.  Bleed kicked in and brought it's health down a little bit more along with it.  By his calculations, it should take around four to five attacks in order to end the boss.  Itzal leaped back as he saw the muscles in the boss beginning to twitch.  Somehow he felt this boss wasn't unique like the other ones he'd taken on.  However, he had a feeling...

Out of the two pair's of ninja's, it seemed that Dreadshot had her skills based on combat, focusing on damage and evasion over scouting and stealth.  She had killed one of her frost trolls while Corvo had nearly killed his first.  The trolls called more reinforcements and two trolls came to their aid.  Now Dreadshot had three and Corvo had four.  Itzal really needed to finish this boss off so he could help them.  He watched as the boss slowly pushed itself back up to it's feet.  The movement was extremely slow and sluggish, especially since it was a giant that had just recovered from paralysis.  Itzal charged forward and released Meteor strike on the boss, lashing at it's legs and arms trying to keep it from getting back up.  However nothing seemed to be working.  He watched it's health drop and bleed activate after his sword art had ended before leaping back again.  Hopefully this wouldn't take too long.

The reinforcements seemed to have stopped, but the two ninja's still had their hands full with the overload of monsters they had to take down.  Dreadshot seemed to be doing well however, especially since her katana allowed her to target multiple enemies at the same time.  Itzal returned his focus on the boss and rushed up to him, releasing Meteor Strike.  The boss however, grabbed it's club and blocked Itzal's first blow, a strong gale pushing back Itzal's way.  His eyes widened with surprise but he recovered quickly, leaping to the right as the boss swung it's club at Itzal, creating a large gash in the ground in it's attempt.  Itzal of course, had managed to dodge the attack and leaped over the weapon in a backflip, ending a little ways away from the boss.  It's four eyes flashing blue and glaring at him with raw hatred.  Itzal repositioned himself as Velnia flew back at his side.  Over halfway done and yet so much work to be done.

Itzal tried to land an attack on the boss this time but that didn't fly either.  The boss used both hands on it's club when it blocked, keeping itself from moving at all and becoming a solid, immovable object when Itzal finally came with his attack.  When his sword struck the club nothing happened.  Itzal tried to jump off the club but the monster swung the club back, leaving Itzal to fall in mid air.  The monster roared as it swung with all it's might at the black figure, striking Itzal with enough force to send him into the wall of the cavern.  There was a bit of dust as Itzal coughed it out.  While he was trapped in the wall he scanned the area and saw a doorway.  Where it lead Itzal had no idea.  However neither did he have time to figure it out.  As he worked to get out of the wall, he saw trolls come to replace the ones Dreadshot had slain.

The boss began to walk over to Itzal who had dealt the only damage to it and Itzal struggled to get out of the wall.  Velnia appeared and helped by digging along with him.  She may have had wings for arms, but the claws on the wings still worked rather well.  The boss began to raise it's arm as it prepared to strike him with full force again.  Itzal barely managed to get out in time and leaped from the wall, when the club smashed into the wall.  Itzal bent his knees and rolled, reducing all damage but he still felt a little bit of the impact.  After all, it was a few feet above ten feet high.  After landing Itzal turned sharply around and immediately shot at the boss, releasing meteor strike and dealing more damage to the boss.  Three hundred and fifteen health remaining.  It wouldn't be long before the boss was finally defeated and Itzal would have more experience.

The boss removed it's club rather easily and swiftly, huge chunks of ice and stone breaking off and flying through the air, causing miniature earthquakes as they landed.  The shaking caused Itzal to lose his balance for a moment or two and when that happened the boss had time to swing it's weapon at Itzal.  Itzal tried to leap out of the way but the boss altered it's swing and struck him mid air again.  Itzal, seeing what was about to happen, positioned his sword and stabbed into the wooden club so that he didn't fly into the wall a second time.  After the swing the boss looked at the wall expectantly but was confused when it didn't see Itzal.  Itzal in the meantime, released meteor strike on the boss's arm before jumping upward and finishing the sword art by stabbing into it's shoulder, hanging on tightly and driving the sword into the boss.

The boss roared and tried to lash out at him.  Now that he was on top of the boss, he really felt like he was in shadow of the colossus.  What he didn't know was that when his training reached the twentieth floor he would forget this encounter altogether.  Itzal watched as the boss moved towards one of the walls in order to squash Itzal and he pulled his blade out, rushing forward and climbing up the shoulder, leaping forward to avoid the hit.  As the boss slammed against the wall, Itzal stabbed his blade into the torso and slid down a bit before he pulled it out and climbed up it's fur.  When he reached the neck he stood on the shoulder as it pulled itself free and released meteor strike, bringing it's health down to fifty nine points left.  Itzal had enough energy to land two more hits, or two misses.  All he needed however, was one.

The boss roared and slammed it's free hand down where Itzal was and for the first time Itzal knew how a fly felt when humans just slapped it around.  As Itzal fell he saw the boss try to swing upward to hit him mid air.  He altered his body so that he could land on the club and when he did he let the club bring him closer to the boss before he leaped at it, releasing meteor strike and dealing the final blow to the boss.  The monster roared in pain before shattering into pixels and Itzal began flying towards the wall.  He stabbed his blade into the wall and made contact with his feet.  Afterwards he pulled the blade out and let himself fall, once again rolling to reduce all damage done to zero.  The congratulations sign came up and Itzal saw his rewards from the dungeon.  Of course there was a lot he had collected on his way here.  Now that he was done however, the experience began to rack up.
