~Noct to Worry Jewelry~

As you make your way to the outskirts of the city of Delilah on Aincrad's third floor, you see the sign for a small shop. Always curious to see the contents of a new shop you enter. You open the door, the sound of a bell's chime quickly following. "Welcome, Oh' patron." A dramatic voice says from behind the counter. "Welcome, to Noct To Worry Artisans. I am Master Nocturn's servant, Yakushina. Please, let me know if you need anything." The silver haired NPC says, welcoming you to the store. Baubles decorate the counters, masks hang from the walls, and other miscellaneous bits and baubles decorate the shelves.

Noct stepped out form Piera's potion shop. He had escorted her home, after the completion of another quest. He had looked at her shop, eyeing it's contents. He was trying to get an idea for how to set up his own shop, as soon as he was able to. He'd never run a shop before, so the whole idea was alien to him. But, owning a shop was a priority. He needed a source of income, that was safer than going out into the wild. And who knew, maybe he would enjoy being an artisan. As he walked into the street, just across the way in another building, there was a silver haired NPC arguing with a guard NPC. Curious, Noct approached them, hoping for a small quest.

The argument was less of one as Noct approached, but more of the silver haired man pleading. "Please!" He cried. "This place was my home, just as much as his!" He called out, almost in tears. The guard raised his hand in his own defense. "I'm sorry, but without an owner, the place is closed. And without him around, we have to keep the doors close." Noct rubbed his head in thought. What were the two talking about. And it seemed that he got to close, as the silver haired man turned to him. "You there! Please! Lend me your aid." He said, approaching Noct. Noct took a step back in surprise, but held his ground. "This place was my home, before my master died. And since he has, this place has no owner and this charlatan won't let me enter my own home." He said, with a dramatic finger point to the guard. Both the guard, and Noct shared a look. The guard sighed before approaching Noct. Noct asked the guard if the place was for sale. The guard nodded, and opened a small menu inside of Noct's HUD. The price for the place was astronomical, but changing it over from residential to commercial, he'd be able to use his Earning a Living quest to pay for it. Noct grinned, and swiped up selecting yes.

The guard nodded, and spoke to the pair of people. "Alright, place is yours. And with that, I'm on break." The guard said before leaving. Noct walked up over to the door, and opened it. He looked back at the confused silver haired NPC and motioned for him to come in. The silver haired NPC jumped in excitement and quickly made his way inside. "Thank you, kind sir." The man said, giving Noct a bow. "I am, Yakushina. A humble artist by trade although, not official yet." He said, looking at Noct. Noct in turn, gave Yakushina his name and the reasoning of buying the building. "Ah, Master Nocturn then. I shall serve you as best I can. Now, I'll give you the quick tutorial of crafting." Yakushina said.

Nocturn looked over the small table in front of him. Small jewels, and wire lined it's fine polish, oils and paint stained the floors in various places. The work station, unlike the rest of the store was a mess. "That, was my sensei's workspace. Back when he was still here." Yakushina explained. "He was a master at his craft, always making the next big thing. Always wanting more from himself, he pushed himself too far. Perhaps, you'll fill his spot in this world?" Yakushina asked, pointing to the table. Noct shrugged, how hard could it be. He opened a menu, and deposited his materials into the crafting tables inventory, and a small hud element appeared over it showing him how many materials were left. He sat down, and began to work. What did artisans make though? A small menu appeared, and a list of available items showed themselves. The first thing that came to his head was a small phone charm. As he thought that, the table glowed softly, and presented him with a small piece of laminated paper and tools. Noct took the tools, and drew out what he wanted. The rough and crude drawing took shape, and turned into an item. It looked a lot nicer than what he had originally thought. Another list of buffs appeared, calling themselves 'enhancements'. The only one that Noct would choose, was the one labeled a Luck. Adding it finalized the item, and it turned into a small charm. A small what token, with the kanji for luck inscribed on both its sides. "Hmm, rough but a promising start master Noct. I think you'll do well here." Yakushina said as Noct nodded, and went to try again. Only this time, completely destroying the item completely. "Or maybe, not."

Another day, another chance to make some items. Making the two items only took a couple of hours, and Noct had plenty of those to spare thanks to his previous adventures with both Lee and Piera. And he had a knack for making items, so today should be easier at least. Yakushina walked up, and peered over Noct's shoulder as he worked. The first item noct made, was terrible. Not even resembling an item in the slightest. "You should slow down. You can't rush perfection." The silver haired NPC said, before trailing off to clean the store. Noct rubbed the back of his head, and went at it again, creating only trash it seemed. Frustrated he tossed the material at the back of the desk. To his surprise the desk accepted the item as a material again, giving him a chance later on. He shoved his hands into his pockets and stepped into his shop's lobby. "Nothing going Master? It's to be expected. After all, you have only just started. You'll get better with time." Yakashina said, lifting Noct's spirits slightly.

  • 3 weeks later...

Noct went into work, and began banging two rocks together for what seemed like hours. He didn't want to make anything worth his time, he didn't want to make anything useful for anyone else, let alone anything that resembled anything. Smashing the two rocks together brought him a sudden joy, something inside of him lit up like sparks from two stones being smashed together. Which brought him to what he was doing. Smashing two rocks together. He smashed, and he smashed, and he smashed, but to no avail. nothing came out of the rock smashing then sadness and no items. Perhaps item creation, wasn't random as he originally thought.
