About: History/personality

Personality:

A professional gamer who has played many other MMOs in the past,  Veritas is one who believes that he will do whatever it takes to win in the death game known as SAO, save for killing other players in the game if he can avoid doing so. Veritas is determined he isn't going to lose to the Game Master, and that he's going to do his best to win in the long run. Veritas is not above cheating when it comes to battles, willing to set traps and prepare ambush tactics to take on multiple enemies. While he knows he's a beginner in the game, Veritas is determined he's going to climb through the ranks of the game. Veritas is not happy that he is stuck in the game, not happy about it at all in fact. Part of him wants to murder the Game Master horribly with extreme amounts of violence, but he manages to keep a grip on his temper. While he doesn't want to kill other players, Veritas knows at times there may be no other option than to end the lives of other players, especially Player Killers.

History:

Veritas was always gifted at video games. From age eight, he'd taken an interest in MMOs. Analyzing the coding of some of them, Veritas quickly formulated strategies that could allow him to progress quicker than other players without cheating, or using hacks on the MMOs. It was this skill that he began to cultivate. Over the course of nine years, he perfected his talents in gaming but didn't publicize them or sign on with any of the big labels. When he heard of the game SAO, he thought of it as a real challenge. The game was interesting to him, and so when it finally came out and could be purchased, he was one of the first to purchase the game for himself. While he knew he'd have a disadvantage compared to the Beta Testers, Veritas still wanted to play the game, to see if he could win without using any external aids, and using only his own wits.

Once he had purchased a copy of the game, he bought himself a Nerve Gear next. Once he had both set up, and ready he was prepared. On the night the game launched, he logged into the game for the first time. Noticing the lock out function had been disabled stressed him out at first. However, he's come to terms with being trapped in the game, sorta. He's going to do his best to level up as quickly as he can, because he wants to escape.

Virtues:

Honorable:  Veritas is a man of honor. As a result of this honor,  he will not kill weaker players than him. In addition, he refuses to PK at all unless it is unavoidable.

Resilient:  Even when faced with insurmountable odds, Veritas is one who will not give up. His courage makes him able to press forward, despite any opposition that gets itself in his way. His resilience makes him willing to go the distance in the Death Game to win.

Inventive: While it may not serve him well in this game, as it is different from others he has played Veritas is very inventive with his fighting strategies. This allows him to create creative strategies to battle his enemies. As a result of this, Veritas is very innovative as well.

Flaws:

Unwilling to Kill:  One of his flaws is that Veritas is unwilling to kill players. This is because he is afraid of taking the lives of his fellow humans. It could prove to be a severe disadvantage to him should he encounter a Player Killer or someone like that.

Control Freak: Veritas hates when things go out of control. He tends to overstress about micromanaging his life, down to the smallest detail. This is a severe disadvantage as plans made in the game often go wrong.

Stubborn: Veritas is stubborn once he sets his mind to something. Even if a task will cease to benefit him in the long run, once he has set his mind to it he will not stop. This can also cause him to refuse to accept help from others at times.
