History.
Caleb grew in a small town that for many years gave him the impression that the world too was small. Much of his life had been sheltered and lonely, being homeschooled and restricted from the nearby children. His life changed forever with the internet, but most of all it gave him a chance to make friends. A stunt in his learning told him that friends had to be earned by your own worth, and so Caleb learned to draw and write, in hopes that he might earn friends. It worked for the most part, and he was happy. In later years the quality of his friendships declined and so sent him into a depressive stoop. Though not a fan of MMO's, he was a fan of the full-dive experience that SAO promised. When his pre-ordered nerveGear and copy of SAO came in just in time for release he was giddy with joy. He made his character much after how he viewed himself: a joke. If he knew he'd be in here for the long-haul, he would have chosen something a bit more authentic.

Personality.
Sarcasm has become a second language to him. He tends to say "I love you" by doing something that will make you scream, either by playfully dropping an icecube down your shirt and straight-faced lies he hopes you'll soon see for "alternative facts." Aside from being annoying, he offers gifts and his services. When he's nervice he'll say things he'll quickly regret, and when it comes to his pride he can become overly-aggressive to the point of hurting friends and burning bridges. He does value his relationships and dreads being alone, and more than anything he asks for your patience just long enough to see the diamond within the coal. 

Virtues:
Companionship. Turnip dreads loneliness and missing out on life. All moments spent with friends become precious memories. Likewise he'll never forgive himself if he can't be there to cheer you on in your most important moments.

Generosity. He is like a crow finding shiny things to give to his friends. He is a collector of things that offer no use to him, but he believes they might help a friend later on. For close friends he'll offer jewels and nice aesthetical items.

Honesty. Turnip believes the greatest empowerment is the truth, even at the stake of his status. This often manifests as Turnip being perceived as a chatter-box, but it's just him trying to keep on the level with you. If asked to give a critique of a performance, or how you look today, his response will be uncensored and unrestrained, which he hopes will save you from failure later on.

Flaws:
Arrogance. Turnip's hunger to perform ends up with him playing the professional before he should be allowed to. He genuinely thinks he can offer sage-advice while he's still green with the stink of summer. His arrogance being pointed out can drive him into a cynical depression, even a little bit insane at his inability to cope with his own foolishness.

High-Strung. He beats himself up viciously whenever he fails. His belief is that if his team lost then it was all his fault and that he should be ashamed beyond the capacities that language can express. This trait manifest in his school-years, where his peers mocked and bullied him for being the weak-link on their team. 

Low Self-esteem. He thinks he's being humble when he speaks lowely of himself, but it's only because he genuinely thinks he's worthless. Whatever value he can attain is by what he offers to anyone else.
