Shogun 0 Posted May 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2017 (edited) Profile Username: Shogun Real name: Ryan Park Age: 18 Gender: Male Height: 5’10” History Ryan was born to the young couple of Jeong and Elizabeth Park. His father was born and raised in Korea and his mother in America. His father came over to America to study at Harvard to become a dentist while his mother was studying to become a lawyer. When they met, they almost immediately fell in love. When they finished their education, both earning their doctorates, they moved to the suburbs to start a family. The first child they had was Ryan and only a couple years after came his sister, Ashley. Both of them inherited their parents’ straight black hair as opposed to their mother’s brown hair, but both of them inherited their mother’s striking blue eyes. In public, the two received a lot of attention because of how beautiful their eyes were. Ashley had always been shy and didn’t really like the attention, but Ryan loved it. As he grew up, it became clear to his family that he craved attention. Video games weren’t always an important part of his life. At first, all Ryan wanted to do was make friends. He would go to the park and play with the kids there, go over to other kids’ houses and just have fun. He actually enjoyed school because that’s when he got to hang out with people. So when other kids started playing video games, he started playing too. Whether it was Mario Party, Smash, CoD, Super Mario, they would play. As they played video games however, Ryan discovered that he enjoyed playing on his own just as much. At first he was using consoles and would play RPG’s, but still wanted to play with others. He ended up using his laptop a lot to play video games online and realized that the internet was a great way to meet other people. So he managed to save up enough money for a new computer and began playing online games a lot more, developing the online persona of “Shogun”. During his freshman year of high school, Ryan did his best to balance schoolwork, friends, and gaming. He was really popular going into high school, he got good grades and he was pretty good at most games he played. His confidence grew which caused many people to admire him but also caused some to envy him and others to simply be annoyed, viewing him as arrogant. Which, to their credit, wasn’t too far off base. When Ryan heard about a new invention. Nerve Gear. A whole new way to play video games. The game everyone was getting was called Sword Art Online. The second it went on sale he bought it, along with thousands of others who were ready to witness gaming be revolutionized. What no one saw coming was the fact that they would be trapped in a video game that could kill them. When it was revealed to the whole of Sword Art Online that they were trapped, Ryan didn’t want to fight at first. But as everyone made progress, he got tired of sitting around. So now he plans on grinding through the levels until he’s strong enough to join the front lines. Because he’s tired of watching. Personality Ryan’s most defining characteristic is his confidence. However, it’s a double-edged sword. While his confidence can inspire others and be used to charm some, it can also easily be taken for arrogance. He doesn’t necessarily talk about his accomplishments and brag, but he does enjoy having them be talked about and won’t downplay anything to be humble by any means. He’s also very loyal and protective, the latter of which shows up when it comes to his sister. He’s always been loyal to his friends and family which he believes to be the most important characteristic a person should have which had a major part in his online name being “Shogun”. Virtues: Confidence - Whenever Ryan has been down on his luck, he’s immediately gotten back up. Anything goes wrong and he convinces himself it’s just a fluke and continues. Ryan refuses to give up, thinking that there’s a way to overcome anything. Loyalty - The most important trait to Ryan is easily loyalty. When there was disputes among classmates at school, he would side with his friends even if they may have been in the wrong. Being loyal to his family was also important, focusing on schoolwork when he needed to so his parents didn’t get upset. And now he’s loyal to those around him in SAO and will be loyal to a guild if he joins one. Charisma - Ryan has learned how to use his charm to get people to like him. He dislikes it when people see him as arrogant and has convinced a few people that he isn’t a jerk when it comes to his ego, but rather just simply confident. His most notable feat when it comes to using his words is convincing his parents to give him an allowance and to be a bit more relaxed when it comes to school. Flaws: Arrogance - Despite his best efforts, Ryan can easily come off as arrogant to some. In fact, he managed to be confronted by multiple people who probably would’ve beaten the living the crap out of him if he didn’t have friends around. Needless to say, he could easily make enemies in Sword Art Online. Proud - Without realizing it, Ryan has a lot of pride. Anyone who disrespects him should be expecting to make an enemy. Whether it’s his family, friends, or himself, the case will always be the same. Just don’t tread on them and there won’t be a problem. Perfectionist - A trait he got from his parents, Ryan won’t stop until something is done correctly. He will also be severely disappointed if he believes there’s something that he could easily avoid. For instance, if he could’ve prevented a death in a boss fight or dungeon.
