Situated on the third floor, a homey tavern made its place on the outskirts of the safe zone.  The building was comprised of two buildings in total.  A short bridge connected the two, making traversing between them a breeze. In the second building, food stuffs and ingredients were stored when there was an excess that the chef didn't want to deal with. The Crooked Crown was open to all, but Player Killing was not to be tolerated.

The chef spends most of his time standing in front of the stove, pan in one hand with the spoon or spatula in the other. Age isn't an indicator of experience, but instead a sign of the potential of the individual.  The chef is still young, but his passion runs wild. Unfortunately, the chef has a tendency to swear violently when his creations go awry.  Don't take anything you hear to heart, he's just cursing the food. When he isn't busy whipping up some new marvel, you can find him leaning against the bar with a flagon in hand.  He enjoys a good drink with company as much as he does cooking in the kitchen.

While not there, one can find order forms next to the rail.  Just fill one out and slide it on, he'll do orders in the order they come in.

"What'll it be today?"

Winik strolled through the doors of his shop, the sounds of the jungle behind him falling silent as the door swung shut on its hinges.  He sighed heavily, making his way behind the counter and into the kitchen proper.  He swiped his hand through the air, pulling his menu open.  A few taps later and his armor disappeared in a swarm of pixels, returning to his inventory.  He took a moment to smooth out his long sleeved maroon shirt and black pants.  Casting his gaze around, his eyes settled upon three pieces of clothing folded neatly behind the counter.  A few steps brought him in front of them, where he then proceeded to pick them up and don them in order.  First up was his chef's coat, which had no buffs as of yet, followed by a simple white apron.  The third item was a plain white bandanna, that when tied came to a point that curved over the head and tied in the back.  Feeling more comfortable, and appropriate, he made his way to the nearest prep station.

Drawing his menu up again, he pressed a few items, materializing them onto the prep table in front of him.  Flour, eggs, salt, yeast, and boar meat sat on the surface in front of him.  Another press and a chef's knife materialized in the air above his hand before dropping down into his awaiting palm.  He tapped his chin thoughtfully with his free hand before tapping another item in his inventory.  A bundle of metal skewers materialized off to the side of the ingredients a moment later. Satisfied, he smiled and pulled his sleeves up to get to work.

"Time to get to work," he spoke aloud to himself.

Placing one hand on the hunk of boar meat, he steadied it before bringing his knife to bear down upon it.  With one slicing motion after another, he broke it down into one inch thick slices.  Next, he went to work in turning the slices into one inch by one inch cubes.  Once he was satisfied with the results, he slid the cubes onto skewers before seasoning them liberally with salt.  Satisfied with his work, he set them on a tray to the side and turned back to the other ingredients.  Dumping flour into a bowl, he coughed as a cloud proceeded to billow into his face.  He drew an arm across his face and grabbed the yeast and salt.  He poured a portion of salt into the flour, ran it through a sifter, then added the yeast.  He mixed in the yeast with his hands momentarily before grabbing and cracking a few eggs into the flour.  Grabbing a whisk from a nearby drawer, he set about mixing the ingredients together.  Once the dough firmed up, he threw flour across his work station and dumped the dough on top.  He continued to work it with his hands until it had the consistency he wanted.  Thankfully, the system allowed him to skip the rising stage and get to portioning. He used a bench scraper to cut the dough into portions, which he laid on sheet trays and threw into a nearby oven.  He tapped the air in front of the over door, setting the timer before he turned back to the skewers. He grabbed the tray and walked over to the grill, cranking the fire on high as he hummed to himself.  He placed the skewers on the grill one by one, the sound of roasting meat blossoming into the air.  Continuing to hum, he busied himself with cleaning up.  Throwing all the dirty dishes into a sink, he came back and used a pair of tongs to turn the meat over.  He cursed quite loudly to himself, noticing he let the meat sit on the grill just a touch too long.  The outside had started to char quite a bit darker than he wanted and he cursed himself for getting careless.  He let them get back to their grilling as he checked on his bread.  Unfortunately, the outside had darkened to the point of almost being burnt.  He used a towel to grab the sheet trays from the oven, which he then threw onto a prep table.  Hurrying back to the grill, he was able to pull the boar meat skewers off in time before they burned.

"I didn't waste my efforts at least," he grumbled, "I'll just use these in a dish later on." With a towel in hand, he set about cleaning up his kitchen.  He tidied it up to his standards, leaning against the counter with a drink untouched next to him.  His nose was buried in one of the cookbooks you could buy off of the info brokers.  "The flavor recreation engine is something else, isn't it?," he pondered aloud, busying himself with studying how to make his food taste even better.

Winik padded down the stairs that lead from his room into the kitchen's storage area, yawning widely and stretching his arms over his head.  He smacked his mouth noisily, not really caring too much about the uncivilized behavior.  As far as he knew, he was alone and that's all that mattered.  He strolled into the kitchen proper, snagging his chef's coat off a hook and slinging it on.  He grabbed the cuffs and pulled the sleeves up, settling them above his elbows for maximum comfort and style.  He fastened the knot buttons, leaving the top on undone to allow ventilation and comfort.  Winik yawned again, rubbing his eye with the heel of his hand as he stood in front of the prep table from yesterday.

Humming to himself, he set about navigating through his menu same as yesterday.  A few clicks later and the table in front of him was covered in ingredients.  With his right hand, he took up a single skewer and with his left, a mushroom he had harvested.  He set about sliding mushroom after mushroom onto the skewer until he had no room left.  Laying that down, he took up a bowl and began adding various liquids and powders that he then beat with a whisk in attempt to create a sauce.  With a brush, he applied the sauce to the skewer that then promptly rotted in front of him.  "Son of a!," he swore loudly, swiping the ruined creation off the counter top and into the trash at the end of the table.  Winik took a deep breath to calm himself, before attempting again after he added another powder into the mixture.  Unfortunately, the same result happened.  This caused him to stab his knife into his cutting board, leaving it standing there.  He ripped open his jacket, letting it fall open as he began studying his guide over the flavor recreation system furiously.  "I'm going to get better at this!," he promised himself.

Winik stomped in through the front door of his restaurant, swiping through his menu to discard his armor in a flurry of pixels.  He growled loudly, raking his hands heavily through his hair.  "Why do I keep coming up empty when I look for mats?! I just want to craft!," he screamed into the air around him.  He stormed around the counter throwing his jacket on and taking up his knife.  A few taps and the counter top was covered in ingredients once again.  He took up what once was a Bulbous Bow but was now just a hunk of meat and slapped his knife on the counter, switching it out with a boning knife. Quick, precise cuts freed the meat from the comical bone and he switched back to his chef's knife.  He sliced the meat into cubes and seasoned them liberally with herbs he hand found on the first floor.  He slid them onto skewers before placing them on the grill and turning away.  He decided he wanted to simply boil some eggs as a snack and set a pot of water on the stove to boil.  Quickly, the water came to a boil and he dropped several large bird's eggs into the water.  As he checked his skewers, which had begun to burn, the pot suddenly boiled over, dousing the fire as smoke spewed from the pot. One look inside saw that all the eggs had shattered into pixels.  He ripped open his jacket again, leaving it to hang limply, and buried his nose in his notebook.

Winik trudged down the stairs from his room above the restaurant, a sense of foreboding laying heavily on his mind. "Today feels like all these other past days," he mumbled to himself.  He swiped his chef's coat off of the back of a chair and slung it across his shoulders, snaking his arms into the sleeves.  A pile of ingredients laid on the table where he left them last night, the frustration of so many failures driving him mad.  With his off hand, he swiped a few eggs off the prep table and with his other, he grabbed a pan that was hanging above the stove.  He lit the stove, watching as the flames grew higher and heated the pan.  He tossed an egg into his dominant hand, cracked it into the pan, and repeated until all the eggs were on the stove.  He turned to grab a spatula when a cloud of dense black smoke flooded around him.  He swore, throwing the pan against the far wall and spinning around to go to the prep table yet again.  Grabbing more eggs, he stomped over to a pot of boiling water and dropped the eggs in heavily.  Water splashed onto his coat, but the game didn't register the blistering pain that should have been registered.  He sat at the bar, reading through his manual again.  After some time, he used a wire spoon to pull the eggs from the water.  He cracked one to check the quality and shrugged.  They were a little over what he wanted, but there wasn't anything wrong with them.  He deposited them into his inventory and went back to studying, absentmindedly spinning a fork in his fingers.

Winik came into kitchen, hopeful in his attempts for the day.  His first attempt came out great! He had taken some apples he had harvested in the forest, peeled them, cored them, put them in a pot of water and sugar on the stove and boiled that down for some time.  He then took a loaf of bread he had made previously and hollowed it out.  When that was done, he took the jam mixture he had made and filled the bread loaf.  This gave him a nice jam filled carbohydrate snack.  His second attempt of the day was bad, burning the kebab he was trying to make.  He grumbled as he stored it in his inventory, turning and leaving his restaurant to go out exploring.

Winik stomped down the stairs from his room, his nose buried in the manual he had bought off of an info broker.  "If you add Ula Fish Bone with a variety of other mixtures it effects the flavor engine's salt receptors, eh? Might as well try it out."  He threw on his chef's coat and swiped his mortar and pestle off of a counter top.  He set up shop at his prep station and placed a few Ula Fish Bones in the mortar.  Taking sprigs of holly herbs from a higher floor, he began grinding them down with the pestle. He really put his shoulder behind it, grinding it into a fine powder.  On the last turn, the flavor recreation engine decided that what he was doing was not going to work.  Flames spewed from the mortar, singeing his hair and sending him sprawling. "DAMN IT!!!!," he screamed at the top of his lungs, scrambling to his feet.  He threw more bones into the pestle and laid into them, not adding anything this time around.  Once they were a fine powder, he added it to some flour, bird eggs, and water. He threw the mixture into a pan and into the oven it went.  Onc the timer went off, he was the new proud owner of a Perfect quality snack.
