Martha 0 Posted July 29, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2017 (edited) Martha frowned, her eyes squinting as she was blinded by the sun. Ever since she had met the charming alchemist, the one that someone told her was something called an NPC or NPS or whatever. She was told that he was not an actual player... Whatever that meant. One thing that she took away from that entire experience though, was the fact that she could become an alchemist and finally gain the attention of that white-haired old man. If she could become successful, she would definitely return to that alchemist and confess her love for that NPC. However, the journey will take a long time and Martha is willing to take the long way to the destination for the attention of that old man that she thought was love at first sight. She and he would be the perfect couple... It was inevitable. Martha giggled and finally, after struggling a long time to find an alchemist who was willing to teach her the ropes, she stumbled across an old lady just as old as she was. The woman called herself a witch as if that was intimidating to Martha. She bet a whack in the face would instantly put the "witch" on the ground. "So, you willin' to teach an old buddy the ropes or naw?" Martha asked for the tenth time. "Fine. I don't know what an old hag like you is doing in a game such as this, but you're getting really annoying at this point. Tell you what, you go collect three mushrooms and three herbs on the first floor and I'll teach you the ropes." The old witch replied, obviously annoyed at the older woman's continued insistence at becoming an alchemist. She didn't blame her for being annoyed, actually, since a player of her age did not have potential to become great like the rest of the youngies. But they don't know her, and Martha has been known to prove people wrong. So, the day begins with Martha slowly walking out of the witch cabin and into the fields of the first floor. @Winik Edited July 29, 2017 by Martha
Winik 0 Posted July 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2017 Winik strolled out into the field, dragging the tip of his spear through the grass as he lethargically moved around. He yawned loudly, stifling it with the back of one hand. The mobs just roamed around aimlessly, as long as he didn't draw aggro he'd be fine. 'It's been a little while since I've done anything,' he thought to himself. 'The lower floors are clearing out, leaving just the basic quests for every player to get. Maybe if I see somebody in need of help I'll throw my hat in the ring. There's nothing wrong with that." He walked along, idly spinning his spear in one hand. The boars that gave him trouble when he first started aren't too much of a hassle anymore, freeing him up to help others. This was a pleasant thought, giving him the gumption to actually be of help. In the distance, he could make out a figure but was unsure of any details. @Martha
Martha 0 Posted July 29, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted July 29, 2017 Slowly walking with her back facing the sunset that indicated that morning was finally here, it was not surprising that some people might actually mistake her for a boar. The shortness that she had in addition to the sunset blocking the vision of players. In one instance, one of the players actually attempted to attack her with a sword. Luckily, that player had missed and Martha was given the opportunity to mock and lecture the kid on how not to make rash decisions and stuff of the sort. She didn't waste too much time on that particular person, though, as it was obvious that he was incompetent to help her with the quest that she wanted to complete. She needed someone stronger than that... Someone tougher. So she kept on searching for anyone available to assist her. Suddenly, she found herself looking at a blue-haired man about twenty or so years old from what she can tell. Honestly, he didn't look like that good of a player to help her out either but at this point, she had been searching for too long to care about the quality of her assistant. "You. Down here." She remarked, making sure he can see her despite her shrinking height. "I need to find three mushrooms and three herbs and I need some help doin' tat. You don't mind helpin' a weak old woman wit it do you?" She asked. One advantage that she had found in this game was the fact that you are old means more people are willing to help you due to your fragile body and the guilt that comes with leaving an old woman behind. @Winik
Winik 0 Posted July 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2017 Winik stabbed his spear into the ground, leaning against it heavily. "I didn't have any other plans for the day, so why not?" Winik flashed her a grin, trying his best to ease her mind of any potential danger. "Are you doing the professions quest, Earning a Living?" He remembered back when he did that one, before he established his tavern on Floor 3. His best efforts were given on that quest, but the RNG wasn't happy that day and failed to help him actually find anything. The only reason he got anywhere with that quest was due to Anemone helping him. She gave him all the mats she had found so he had something to turn in at the end. "It took me forever to finish that quest, but when I finally did it was definitely worth it. I've been able to rank up my Cooking skill, and have been doing my best to make the best food in Aincrad." She didn't like the look of that grin and she didn't know why, nor did she care. She just needed someone to help her out. "Best food in Aincrad? Sounds like self-promotion to meh. Be careful who you go aroun' sayin' dat to, it's a bol' statement to make, youngie" Martha exclaimed, looking on the ground in the mean time to search for the material that she had been told to find. "And yeh, I am doing dat professions quest. Becoming an alchemis' as wel'. Sounds like a good way to earn my livin' if I've ever hear' of one." She said, realizing that she was currently in the open fields that probably doesn't have any of the mushrooms or herbs that she wanted. "We needa go to the swamps, dats wher' all dat goo' mushrooms are at." Martha suggested, "Let me tell you a story boy. My tenth grandson, who looks exactly like you, got hella hurt a coup' of years ago. He stepped on a hell bent banana peel and fell straigh' on his face. He walked aroun' with a swoll' face for a darn long time." Martha said, once again opening herself to random conversations as she recalled events from her long real life. @Winik Edited July 30, 2017 by Martha
Winik 0 Posted August 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Winik looked at her puzzled, there wasn't a swamp on this floor. "Are you sure you know where you are? Their isn't a swamp on floor one, unless you're planning on going up floors. I don't recommend it too much if you're too low leveled. You don't want to bite off more than you can chew this early on." He tilted his head, trying his best to crack his neck as he quizzically looked at the grandmother in front of him. Did she get this game to try to be closer to her grandkids? Or his she just some loony old bat that wanted to vent some age old aggression. He shrugged his shoulders, answering himself that it didn't really matter. "I'll help you out, if you're needing an escort. I can't go to a floor that is way above my level, I have safety margins to remember. People depending on me and all that." Martha 0 Posted August 3, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted August 3, 2017 (edited) ID: 87456 | BD: 10 | CD: 6 | LD: 16 | MD: 2 Martha looked at the blue-haired man, quite puzzled at the fact that he stated that there were no swamps on this floor. "Well, I was told to find materials on this floor, so I don't know what in the hec' you are talkin' 'bout." Martha said, "The witch told me to find three mushies and three herbs and bring them to her. If there ain't no swamps on this floor, how in the livin' heck am I supposed to find these things aye? You have any idea where these things may be?" She asked, looking around in the process to see if she can find anything that might be of use to her. "Hey look, a mushroom on de ground. I suppose mushrooms don't grow in swamps on dis floor but even in the open fields like this." She declared, picking up the mushroom and spending a few minutes to remember how she was supposed to put the item into something called the 'inventory' that she had spent a few hours to learn about a couple of days ago. It had been a hard crucial process but she was convinced by some players that it would be worth it. Mushrooms: 1/3 Herbs: 0/3 @Winik Edited August 3, 2017 by Martha
