After the discovery of Avalanche the Absolute Zero, many information brokers had grown interested… was this the first of many evolutions? Their minds had grew more and more eager, and of course they had hired explorers to find the next evolution… it was a while before any confirmation was given… but then, a group had found one more… many had fell to this boss alone as it had the defence greater than many tanks, and has the power greater… much greater than the previous one… this boss was said to put Avalanche to shame, with this new found information… the information brokers came public about the new boss… Land Shark the Terra Firma.

The blond stepped out of the tavern, having freshly drank a single shot of whisky. The whisky here tasted good, and the gsame provided no alcoholic effect, meaning it was fine for him to drink it, even when he was two years underaged. Birdie would be arriving soon, as she had taken him up on one of his offers. Her's was the offer for Bloodstained Land. It was going to be one of the harder quests, as he had heard the boss moved at unimaginable speeds, and he would have to equip an accuracy item or he would regret it. He did not deal much damage, something he was working on, but was going to take a bit. He needed another seven skill points before he even got to worry about that. The extra damage would be nice. Then, he would move on to athletics. After that, he was done with his tank build he believed. Something that had taken him all this time, and he was going ot finally have it finished. He would have maximum health and mitigation, all the while dealing a good amount of damage. He would probably end up saving some of his Skill Points until he decided what to do with them. Grinding still needed to be done as more health was needed. Especially with the next boss fight coming up. He stood in front of the tavern, awaiting @Birdie's arrival.

Bloodstained Land... Birdie mused, walking through the streets of the 21st floor on her way to a teleport gate. Based off what little she knew about the quest, it was one of those fancy evolution ones that were essentially previous floor bosses on steroids - in this case, the 5th floor's Land Shark boss. Having negotiated to meet up with Morgenstern and tackle the quest with him, she hoped to catch up and learn more about what happened since going on hiatus.

As it turned out, she was running quite late. Speaking the necessary words into the teleport gate, Birdie disappeared from the highest unlocked floor and a second later in the dusty wastes of Fortaleza. Ever since the overhaul of the lower floors, she'd found herself half-disappointed by most of the changes - upon first sight of the sandy settlement, however, it was quite nice. The old town of Armadillo was an eyesore at best, this new city breathed fresh air into an otherwise dead, dusty realm of existence.

The bluenette quickly found the tavern and Jonathon standing in front of it. "Hey!" She called out to the man, sending him a wave. A wolf-dog of ghostly appearance trailed behind her, tongue hanging from its mouth to suggest a friendly and tame personality. "Sorry I'm late, had to clear something up with a client and it ran over a little bit. You ready to do this?"

@Morgenstern

The blond smiled as the form of Birdie made an appearance. The dust had made it so she was much closer before he caught sight of her, but the survival skill made it possible for him to breathe that dust and not be hacking up sand in his shop later. An Ethereal Wolf walked behind her, seeming still rather ot from the desert's scorching heat. "Oh, its alright that you were late. I wasn't  timing you or anything, just waited here a bit" He took out a water from his inventory  and chugged, letting the coolness rush down his throat and wet his lips. "Alright, for this excursion we will locate the Terra Firma and eliminate it. You will be dealing the main part of damage, and I will be trying to get it to attack me and only me, so I can activate Thorns. I will probably end up missing quite a bit, but I get a major boost to my damage after I miss, so it all works out just fine" He equipped his tier three armor, his mitigation rather low, but his battle healing indicating that he would be able to survive such an adventure. Nevertheless, he had some restoratives on hand, especially a lot of uncommon ones. Uncommon potions were his speciality. He had mostly Tier ones, but had some Tier twos in there.

Pulling up beside Jon, she smiled after hearing he wasn't upset by her tardiness. "No problem, I drank a damage potion beforehand so I should be able to hit sufficiently, it's just a question of whether or not I can hit the slimy little bastard. Terra Firma's evasion is off the charts, right?" Glancing sidelong at the man, she continued. "If that's the case, we should prepare for a long fight. I don't need to tell you this but if we spend too long fighting that thing, our chances of walking from it probably won't be so good. Especially with this damn heat..."

Despite packing light with feather-weight armour and a vanity half-breastplate, the scorching temperature weighed down on the bluenette. Although artificial, exposure to the Sun a threat to their health both mentally and physically, and Birdie knew it all too well. "Let's head out, we'll be cooked through if we're stood around too long. How far do you think we'll be travelling?"

Birdie told him that she had drank a damage potion, and her only problem would be hitting it. He nodded. "If it goes assault mode, then you should be fine as it turns all of its evasion into accuracy and then you should be able get a hit in there before it reconverts. We will just need to be quick" She told him that this was probably going to be a rather long fight, and the heat might wear them out. He nodded. "The survival skill will keep us going for a while" He turned as she said they best move before their cooked and asked how long they would be traveling. "The coordinates of the quest location are just a few miles to the west of this town" He began to walk forward, the wind and sand brushing the blond's hair. He had always been a fan of the cold, and not the heat, so he wanted this quest over with. This perhaps would be the last time he ever stood foot ont his floor he despised it as much. He had no buffs, but he wasn't one for dealing much damage et. Birdie should be able to get a good amount of damage in and he would be able to top it off with a few points of damage.

"Miles?!" she asked wide-eyed. Plenty of information regarding the boss had made it into circulation, and it seemed both players were well-informed of its strengths and weaknesses. The only thing left to do was make the arduous trek to their destination, and although the ex-scout wasn't a stranger to long walks, an hour or so of non-stop exposure to the Sun was going to be a problem. She navigated through her inventory and materialised 'Azure Shawl', a piece of clothing gifted to her by the player Arc long ago, and quickly fashioned it into a headscarf to keep herself cool.

Small talk filled their journey in the meantime and an eternity (one hour) later, any sign of civilisation had been long lost. All around them were sandy dunes, sandy hills, sandy plains... lots of sand. Birdie's makeshift headscarf did well to keep the abundance of fine rock from getting into her eyes though it obscured her vision just a little too much for comfort, so it would have to come off for the boss fight. "Can you see anything? You know, other than sand." She turned to face Jonathon, hoping he'd spotted any trace of the boss.

Jonathan raised an eyebrow as she exclaimed as he said the word miles. "Yeah, it won't be an easy task, but if you have the survival skill, it should get us through. Now let's get going for real" He began to speed up and she switched to a scarf, which he did not see how it would her keep cool. They exchanged a few words along the trip, but other than that it was silent and scorching. It was probably best that they save their energy.

A good hour had passed and still nothing, when he abruptly stopped. "Strange it says we are here. I wonder where the bo-" A large creature unburied itself from the sand and made a slash at him with its large talon like claws. He managed to move his shield so it was slashed instead. It moved away before hissing at him and then a quick charge. The creature moved fast, striking his chest and dealing quite a fair share of damage to the tank. He grunted and moved a bit back. He then let out a howl that pierced the quiet battle like a sharp knife.

In a flash, Terra Firma rose up from the sands and lashed out at Morgenstern, striking the tank's shield and chest before the bluenette could blink. Birdie ripped out her weapon and empowered it with a Sword Art's light, casting a blue sheen across Tempest Fleuret's surface as she broke into a full-on sprint. Although the boss' movements were sharp, it seemed to tire for a moment and the ex-scout didn't hesitate- she swung her sword forwards with a fierce growl and carried out Over Radiation's flashy strikes, piercing her target's skin fourteen times over.

"Ruaaarrrhh!"

Sustaining massive damage, Terra Firma bellowed a ferocious cry and swiftly burrowed beneath the sands, preparing to strike from below. "Watch out!" Birdie screamed, her eyes desperately scanning the desert floor for any sign of movement. Aside from the wind, all grew quiet as the evolved Land Shark swam beneath the sands... far too quiet.

Jonathan watched as Birdie moved in quickly, striking the land shark which made a bellowing cry before moving underneath the sand and then all was still. "Good job, just be cautious for when it comes back" The grounds were still and no attacks were made towards them. He prepared his shield, and awaited the beast. Several seconds passed before the sands below them shifted and the beast crawled out from the sands, immediately leaping at Jonathan and striking at him with fast and furious blows that made a good dent in his health. Jonathan frowned and took the beasts assault stance into an advantage. He immediately countered with his sword, charging in, ramming it with his shield, and making many strikes that dealt a solid bit of damage to the creature. He moved back as it hissed at him ,acting as if it were going to attack him once more. He had never encoutered a faster opponent, but a more reckless opponent. It converted its speed into its ability to hit, but then it had trouble defending himself.

Terra Firma burst through the scorching sands & immediately went for Morg, and the girl could only watch and grit her teeth as the man succumbed to an attack. Its health dropped by 10% as the tank returned the favour and the upgrade Land Shark slumped, presenting Birdie with the golden opportunity as her sword hand tensed. The path was clear when she leant forwards and pulled her weapon backwards, allowing the blue sheen of a Sword Art to envelop its form as the system thrust her body across the battlefield. With a high grunt she forced her weapon through the boss' chest, swiftly executing Over Radiation's flashy parade of twists and turns before grinding to a graceful halt. Terra reared and roared at the top of its lungs and the blue-clad fencer leapt away before getting hit, succumbing to a post-motion delay as she landed once more. "It's below 33%, it might not have a second phase but watch out just in case!"

  • 1 month later...

Birdie had moved in, moving in with many quick darts with her rapier that took down many points in the creatures health. It was good to see from a monster, that a dodge tank is not the way to go. Afterwards, the blue clad warrior moved away after penetrating through the enemy with her flashy moves and strong fences. The blond quietly nodded and charged forward, moving in quickly before it had a chance to recover from Birdie's attack. His sword gave off a bright blue light as he began to charge forward. He arced down his blade, but it appeared to still have it accuracy stance on. It slammed its scythe like legs, causing a blast of power and light to knock them both back a bit. Jonathan skid across the sand before launching himself back forward, relying complete speed and strength to get through to the enemy in front of him.
