[SP-F3] Down, but not Defeated <<Search for the Hoya>>

Recommended Posts

It hadn't been too long before the defeat handed to her by the vastly more physically powerful being known as the Gemini. And the fact it mentioned a deceased incredibly powerful warrior left the marital artist, questions that linger without an answer. There was a lot she needed to look into, but nothing she could sink her studies into. There was a rumor of a few people who had spent time with this man, but names were something that was missing. There was a lot of people to attempt to question, but all that was doing was wasting her valuable time thinking about it. The Cat woman felt like she was running out of time and needed to redirect her attention to begin grinding her exp gain to the maximum. Reaching the teleportation gate of Floor 6, she traveled down to the 3rd floor, where a certain wedding item resided. Would be a good idea to get for future use.

The fourth floor was always a gorgeous sight to behold, long rolling hills with a beautiful sunny day. The lingering feeling of a near-death experience was oddly not so overpowering on this violent soul. She brought her gaze down upon her claw while exiting the town of the fourth floor, the Settlement of Delilah. Immediately she felt a sigh of relief, she wasn't hopeless. Her determination had shown a considerable amount of progress when facing the Gemini, known to be a difficult fight if you went in without protection. She was going to provide the creature a battle the next time she attempted to fight it. The panther woman did not rush toward this next quest she had already she accepted a long time ago. Drifting into the meadow's to sift through the grass in order to find some materials for crafting. Nothing exactly stuck out to her as what she needed.

Not having found anything in the grass she needed immediately as she began looking was not even a thought that rest inside her mind, Vale just zoned in with her improved vision with Search and Detect. The extra effort she was getting with her ability helped her see a small fragment that normally she would have passed over. She kept thinking about where she made mistakes in her combat and how to change what she would do at that point. There was nothing but optimism in her mind at this point, to be able to face the reaper is one thing. But with the conviction in her determined of why she needed to strengthen herself, was players who didn't have the confidence to fight wouldn't have to face a situation where the quest didn't save you. A terrifying sight to behold, but Vale looked upon it and told the Reaper that she wouldn't back down now, She would persevere in the face of danger.

Vale didn't realize just how quickly she was approaching the maze-like forest that guarded a sacred treasure of the Minotaurs, the Hoya. There was a story that some NPC Adventurers who would get married, would hunt this item down since the Minotaurs always recreated. And if you went during a prime time of day, the true Guardians of the Hoya, Groff and Thyrix. Would protect the Hoya personally for those who wanted to challenge themselves. These two larger than the normal Minotaurs were two different fighters completely. Groff, the protector of the treeline he begins the trial needed to get to the Hoya. More bulllike than the other, Groff starts with a charging attack from out of the treeline straight at Vale who triggered the zone distance necessary. Seeing the giant-esque creature coming, Vale welcomed the first Trial of the Minotaurs. Launching at blazing speed the two collided into each other with devatating strength. So much so, it knocked each other away a good distance, "Damn, that thing is easily a minotaur and a half larger than the normal." She shook her head.

Vale quickly returned to a dash toward the Minotaur as it struggled to get up. Launching into the air she began a flurry of single strikes toward the ground forcing Groff to back up quickly and hastily until it's back was against a wall. It was trying to get up as quickly as possible to fight back, but Vale's sheer passive speed hastened to her by the Charge skill she gave no opening to the beast. A crackling amount of power charged upon her arm, "I'm sorry Protector... but you are not going to slow me down today." A menacing tone of voice came out. In the eyes of the minotaur, the sun shrouded her face, and all it could see was a cold stare of the Martial Artist. With one intense punch, the entire body of the Mintour known as Groff got shattered by her devastating slam. A notification saying she got a Cloak of Perfect quality from the creature, "Worth the expunged energy." a smile grew across her face.

Vale stood up slowly, breathing slightly after that strike, this cloak had an interesting look to it, but since she couldn't wear unidentified items. She could only put the cloak into her inventory. With sweat running down her face and getting into her eye, she struggled to get a good look at what was around her. This martial artist needed to get in the shade quickly since her dark skin and fur-like dark colored armor just made her sweat profusely. Quickly did the girl get her way to the shade. Groff let a massive red strike across her body that was going to need to take time to recover. And a battle with another Minotaur that is the same strength as Groff, this girl needed to prepare herself for it.

A natural feeling overcame the girl and she darted prowling around with swiftness to isolate prey, her natural dark colors allowed her to blend into the shadows. Flicking her eyes around constantly, perpetually in a state of neverending scanning. She made her way until she found the second Minotaur standing in front of the Cave with a small clearing in front of him. An axe on his hip, a shield attached to his arm, and a body clod in some armor unlike the other. Tharix was considerably more menacing. Vale skulked even slower and quieter rummaging through a small cluster of flowers, a few of them would prove useful to damage increasing potions. Her eyes constantly looking back at Tharix to confirm his notion to not move.

Enough time was spent out of combat she saw the area around her glow a very faint but slight blue, indicating that her energy had completely recuperated and was combat ready once again. Grabbing another flower out of the small cluster and placing it in her inventory just in time to feel her ear twitch. Flicking her feet back up she noticed that Tharix was now looking at her location. The slight glow of blue suddenly occurring had definitely taken his attention and it was worthy of looking into. As the Minotaur made his slow stroll to spot. Vale took this opportunity to reposition, the natural foliage was enough of a cover to make it easy to slip past the minotaurs perception.

The Guardian had no idea what was about to happen. Vale launched toward a tree, bouncing from that one to another until she had the angle she wanted on the Minotaur who was confused as to the rapid speed movement. Grabbing his axe and making an upward strike, Vale spun in a barrel rolling motion using her palm to redirect the Minotaur's axe away from her and following it with a twisting motion All Might punch square into the Minotaur's chest. Knocking it down through its armor, the beast wasn't even prepared for an attack of such devastation. Including one that could overpower him and the strength he held behind his axe.

Vale didn't let up, what she should have done when fighting the Gemini. The aggression needed to be turned up to maximum, in order to win her fights. Charging up her All Might technique one more time, a swift dash punch was targeted at the exact same spot she punched the first time. Following up on the pain generated for the creature by bruising the same bone in its body. WIth this punch, she could feel the ribs of the Minotaur's give way and shatter staggering Tharix so much so that he had no strength he could muster into swing his axe. This Minotaur didn't have much left in its tank, with its health bar dangerously in the red zone.

Tharix stared in fear at the Devil Cat, her purple eyes glaring into the soul of the beast. The creature knew it had no chance against this foe. Vale was just too powerful for the creature to defeat. Dropping to its knees the creature forfeited its life with assuredness, "I am sorry I had to be your end. I hope your life is more rewarding in your next chapter." She chanted to it before executing the Minotaur, a large sweeping right hook right through the creatures neck decapitating it. As the head collided with the ground both it and the body of the creature evaporated into data particles leaving the rest of the way open to Vale. Her victory was immediately felt, she walked forward thinking those weren't in all honesty that far away in strength to the Gemini. But something was very different in why that creature was so much stronger than these empowered Minotaurs.

There wasn't much more to do now besides grab the hoya and head back to town, she hoped there weren't any surprises in store for her on the way back to town. Her energy and health began regenerating immediately as was customary when one finally got out of combat. Strutting her way down the corridor of the cave, the panther-like woman kept her eyes peeled for crystal clusters, rocks, flora, fauna, it didn't matter what it was. She needed more materials anyways, wouldn't hurt to keep trying to collect more materials. The more effort she put into her searching for materials the more experience she could give her search and detect skills since it was all based on the techniques of the eye.

It wasn't too deep of a cave, the hallway led to a giant room that was illuminated by the hole that lead to the sky, shining down on their large crystal, "There is the Hoya." She told herself, peering around for any traps or any more materials. There wasn't anything worth her time or effort, and there weren't any traps in here in the slightest, "I see why they choose the Minotaur's Hoya to take for a gift. They're too prideful of creatures to use traps, so if you best the minotaurs it is a free little gift. That is awesome!" She cheered to herself as she grabbed the Hoya and placed it in her inventory. This quest was done on a harder difficulty than normal, since during the night the guardians do not protect the Hoya. Instead weaker more insignificant minotaurs protect it. Was worth the increased risk, she gained a Rare and a Perfect quality item for this excursion.

Vale saw the entire room slightly glow blue as her energy replenished, her face fell flat, "You know that is a problem. It has given away my position multiple times now. But at least I know when my energy gets fully recovered." She spoke to herself in a monotone voice. The shine of blue showed a specific ingredient that the panther woman was on the hunt for. Quickly she hurried over to the dark crystal using her search and detect skill to assist in re-isolate the item. Once she found, the entirety of the area shook. A bad feeling sunk into Vales' chest, this trial wasn't over. There was another beast yet awaiting the panther-like woman for a test of strength, the girl knew that the two were strong but if to escape one more needed to be defeated. Nothing else could be done but to exact justice on the creature.

Vale quickly exited the cave with the Hoya neatly secured into her inventory. There stood a large minotaur though this one had definition in its arms that the other two just seemed to lack. No weapon was perceived in the hands of the creature, Vale knew that this was going to be once again another meeting of fists. Trigging her Charge skill, she grinned, "Your two brothers have been defeated. And if you're the last part of this trial, then I shall eviscerate you with extreme prejudice!" The panther woman shouted out. at the end of her sentence where she was yelling the loudest, Halroug roared at her with all the might it could muster. The two then rushed at each other. Vale having the smaller frame gave her a massive edge easily evading the punches of the minotaur so she could deliver a decisive punch to the chest of the beast.

The massive protector known to be one of the Guardian's of the Hoya, Halroug. There was less spoken about this minotaur as many tended to flee the last one as it was far superior in strength physically than the first two. It was labeled as a rare creature due to how little amount of times it had been fought and slain. Vale would be able to write down all the information about the three guardians to bring up to an information broker. With the advantage on her side, she didn't relent with her assault. Keeping the Minotaur heavily on the defensive, it was unable to answer to her speed and elusiveness. With an overhead axe slamming kick, the panther woman slammed the beast into the ground with impressive strength and enough force to prevent the Minotaur from regaining it's balance.

Vale followed up her first axe kick with another powerful overhead axe slamming kick. The beast was ready for this, it rolled out of the way quickly dodging the attack within the same flowing motion Halroug was able to lift to its feet and plunge its fist into a defenceless Vale. A strike straight into her face, with enough force to launch her away from the creature. Flexing the muscles the beast had as it stood tall and proud despite the fact it's health was a mere fraction away from causing it to disappear into data particles. Vale thudded into a tree, wiping her mouth as though there should have been blood spilling from her lip with an attack that strong hitting her where it did, "I'm gonna enjoy ending you with this attack.

Vale stood up, charging all the energy she had within her into this last attack. Quickly rushing at the target beast, the minotaur lowered it's head and rushed at her like a battering ram. Vale jumped straight up just before reaching the beast. Halroug had no idea she leaped up as it closed its eyes in hopes that the horns impaled and slew his enemy. Just as its the eyes opened, so too did the descending Vale slam all her physical effort into the cranium of the beast. Instantly deleting it from existing, data particles fluttered everywhere and an Unidentified perfect quality food was shown in her rewards for having defeated the last of the beasts for the Tri-Minotaur Trial for the Hoya. Vale grinned, clearly impressed with her own efforts showing that it was just the fact that the Gemini was in fact just a powerful opponent

Vale sat down completely exhausted from all the fighting she had to incur for this quest. Normally a very easy quest, but the nice thing coming during the time the monsters were at their peak in strength was well worth the effort. She was needing a specific thing of food to help her find her familiar, it required a merchant to decipher whether or not this food was going to be the exact thing the woman would need. Checking her inventory and list of all the things she acquired from the trio of minotaurs the up and coming frontliner defeated. She smiled at herself, "This was the first time I took on so many powerful enemies in succession without having someone around. I have gotten a lot stronger since my days before the training. Facing mobs this powerful was fun." She encouraged herself as she stood up.

Vale strode her way back to town, her work was done here. With the quest to obtain the hoya complete this worn-out warrior would need to take a nice hot bath and a small vacation day. The first time she had decided that is what she wanted in so many months. She was rather tired of taking risks bathing herself in the waters outside of the safe zones. She couldn't count on her hands the number of times she was wearing far less than she should ever be during her training days. That was never going to happen from henceforth. She needed a home and she needed it soonish, her mind became filled with a few people she had walked, talked, and fought within the recent past. She was longing for company that she lost with her wife having committed suicide.
