[PP-F7] The Foundation of Truth (Vale + Jomei) <<Case of Wurms>>

Vale watched as Jomei showed the excellence of front liners finishing capabilities. Originally with Vale pushing off Jomei was to open up the extended neck, she watched as her off trajectory push set Jomei up for a more sinister finish. He repositioned his body fluidly and launched becoming a blur with his sheer speed. Her eyes able to track him with all the training she had put into her eye's ability to track. He was nearly as fast as she was if not for the fact that his charge skill wasn't ready. The man would have easily teleported to the exact spot he wanted instantly. The Flash step that she had been adapting and trying to learn with her feline grace.

The essence roared and detached itself from the body of the twin-headed serpent. The essence leaving only the bones behind after the final strike was delivered through its neck by Jomei's execution. The bones were severed at the impact point of Jomei's blade, what was explained in that one moment was the hunger the essence possessed if it could consume a quest boss. She gracefully landed looking horrified at the essence that hovered in the sky. Powerful red eyes showing itself as though it were looking at both of the players at the same time, "Not worthy. Not yet..." The voice said as it faded into nothingness. Vale turned to look at Jomei, "T-The corpse... It isn't blowing up into d-data particles is it." She said shivering. The spine-chilling feeling of being watched faded along with the essence, but Vale still felt the chill down her spine when she thought about the creature and how it might be suffering.

Jomei turned to look at the serpent as it collapsed into the sand. The body laid there, lifeless, without dissipating as corpses in this world usually did. That was when the essence of rage separated itself from the serpent's body, as if being leaked out through the gaping hole Jomei had left in the beast's throat. As the red aura evaporated into the sky, it took the most of the serpent with it. Its flesh, muscles, everything but the bones. The essence had absorbed it completely, leaving the skeleton of the two headed snake lying there. 

In the air above them, the red cloud seemed to stare at them. Jomei looked over at Vale, who was frozen in place, staring back into the eyes of rage. 

"Not worthy. Not yet..." 

And then it was gone. Jomei let the breath he was holding out through his nostrils, placing his hand on his forehead. "I don't know what is going on... I don't remember-" he stopped himself. Should he reveal all that about Dom now? He could only imagine how she would react, knowing that she would need to let the same essence envelop her, and she would need to train herself to control it. "I've never seen anything like it.." Jomei said, sounding defeated from his loss of words.

As the skull of the giant beast put pressure on the hill of sand, it began to roll, revealing a small trap door in the sand. Vale still in shock over what had just happened once again, she could feel as though the essence itself was speaking about her. Even Jomei had admitted that he had never seen anything like that. She looked around and noticed the now visible trap door, "Hey what about that over there." She said trying desperately to change the topic and try to get over to safety. She quickly rushed over and opened it, revealing a small little hideaway spot with a chest inside. Immediately she saw the mouth open and begin to charge out. Utilizing her charge skill she launched herself a good way from the Mimic that struggling to pull it's large head out. With it having a wide-open spot, Vale took the opportunity to launch kick it out of the spot it jammed itself in. Allowing it to get up in the open air to more easily handle the creature.

The weight of the large skull on top of the serpent made sand dune was too much, so the large bone began to slide, moving sand out of the way. As it did so, a stony platform with a trap door was revealed. The curious woman that Vale was made her way over to the strange structure, watching her footing as the sand was still falling around her. Jomei kept an eye out at a distance, waiting for Vale to check out what was inside so they could return to the safe zone. The last thing he wanted was for something else enveloped by the rage to return to them. Moments later, he heard the strange sound of a monster in the hole. Jomei turned to the side to see a chest, with a large tongue and teeth, arms and legs growing from its sides. "What the f-" it was the first time Jomei had even seen a creature like this. Vale had gotten the first strike on the being, sending it flying back. Jomei, activating his strongest sword art along with his Charge skill, vanished in a flash of light. In the same instant, he stood in front of the mimic, his blade already cutting the strange chest creature to pieces.

With the Mimic Defeated, Vale and Jomei stood victorious near each other. They had cleared the quest, and all there was to do was either continue hunting since it was still just mid-day. Or they could call it a night and focus on getting stronger the next day. Neither really mattered to Vale, as long as she got to spend more time with Jomei who was teaching her a lot just by his actions. Was something she was more privy too, The girl looked at the fighter and smiled, "Lets take this back to town and figure out the next move." She laughed and smiled at Jomei, hoping to ease the situation of what had occurred only a dozen or so minutes earlier.
