The Dragon's Flame

5a37306beb060_RisingDragonsGuildEmblem.jpg.c15a0526e196e9cd54bbf46f5e79fca8.jpg

On the seventh floor, on a mountain just three quarters of an hour away from Nimbus, near the peak, there is a building halfway embedded in the mountain's wall, but it stands out enough to be noticed well, despite any snow that reaches to where it is. Inside, you find that the interior of the building is decorated with stone carvings of dragons and lit torches, the largish room divided by a counter, where you can often spot a small white frost dragon sleeping on it. On your side of the room, you can see the items for sale on display, as well as the pricing listed on the right. On the other side, you see the forge itself, currently in use by Vigilon, and at the back of the room you can see a spiral staircase that leads to the building's second story, reserved for living space and storage. Upon walking up to the counter, Vigilon spots you, walks to the counter and greets you with, "Welcome to The Dragon's Flame! You looking to protect yourself, or deal some damage?"

Vigilon entered the building, expecting there to be something around. The place was absolutely empty, except for a few torches that weren't lit. He lit the torches, and looked around. He thought for a minute, then decided. "I don't care if this is a bit of a fixer upper, I'll start my shop here!" It took him a small while, but once he was able to get the forge, counter, racks for the items and such, he considered himself ready to finally start crafting. "All right, let's do this!" He started with a Rapier, which turned out significantly better than first expected. He then tried making a two-handed sword, but it seemed that he didn't do so well on that one. Wiping the sweat off his forehead, he decided to call it a day for now. He looked to the wall, and began walking to the spiral staircase that lead to the second story. "Come on, Veriost, let's check out our room."

After a small while since his first crafting session, he considered it was time to have another go, having furnished the place even more, and considering the place complete to boot. He cracked his knuckles, ready to work the forge again. "Right, it's time to stock the shelves with new blades!" The results were... disappointing. The first attempt, which was for an assault spear, was cooled down too soon, and the blade was ridiculously crooked. Thus, he scrapped the metal and melted it down for another try. His attempt to make a battle axe using the salvaged metal had a similar result. After turning the failed blade into an ingot once more, he sighed and said, "Well, now at least I know a thing or two on what not to do..."

Sometimes he would almost forget that he had a forge to work, if he was ever to open the place up as a shop. He looked at some of his materials, including that ingot which was salvaged twice. He crackled his knuckles, and was ready to start crafting again. "Alright, let's get smithing!" He started with that salvaged ingot, but little did he know that the metal had already been through far enough. When he was ready to start swinging the hammer on the white hot metal, he had a feeling it would be hard. When he swung the hammer, however, the blade-to-be shattered into small, sharp pieces of white hot metal, which shattered in the air, leaving Vigilon just standing there, looking like he was bracing himself in hopes of not being struck with burning shards of shrapnel or whatever. "If this game was any closer to real life, I'd have probably taken damage and been afflicted with burn. Probably." Right now, he was just happy that actually didn't happen, and that he was through with that failure bound ingot. He then tried a different ingot, and succeeded in crafting a Two handed battle axe that seemed like it would do fairly well in battle. "That should be enough for today."

Vigilon yawned as he walked down the staircase. He had a bit of a long night, but now he was thinking, why risk forgetting about forging, when he could get that done first thing in the morning? He made sure he was awake enough to focus before he started. He first tried to make an assault spear, but upon trying to fix a mistake that bent the blade, the weapon shattered. "Dang it." He tried, but this one didn't exactly cut it. He then attempted a Two handed Sword, which turned out pretty well. He had to call it a day, but he would keep going. He wasn't done stocking the shelves just yet.

It was time to start crafting again. "I should try successfully making ten items before I open." He was ready to work his forge again. Hopefully, he could manage to make some pretty decent items. Whatever was in charge of how well of a job he was doing, it was really making him blow it for some unknown reason. He failed to make a Two-handed Assault spear twice. However, he was able to craft a Katana that he believed was "Good enough". He wiped the sweat off of his forehead. "Sometime, somehow, I will succeed in making some two-handed Assault Spears."

Another day in Aincrad was another day to get some crafting done. Hopefully, he would be able to have a fairly good selection of items when he opened his shop. "Alright, time to get to forging!" He started with making a Rapier. It seemed to turn out pretty well. Then he decided to try his hand at making a Two Handed Assault Spear again. His attempt turned out significantly better than he originally thought. "Now this is a Two Handed Assault Spear! I could feel proud to add this to the stock!" His latest craft didn't turn out so lucky, but he was fine with that, since his other crafts were crafts he could be proud of. Not only that, but the material used to make the failed item was salvaged, allowing him to try that metal again another day.

Vigilon walked over to the forge, ready to start crafting again. Now that he knew how to craft heavy armor, he might as well try. Did it matter what he was making? Probably, he was making his first attempts at heavy armor, after all. His results? First try, he smashed the armor to pieces. Second try, it came out wrong, and shattered when he tried to salvage it. Third try, it looked a little weird, so he salvaged it, thinking that it would come out right when he tried again, leading to the fourth try, which came out looking strange, and when Vigilon tried to fix the flaw via hammer, the item shattered. "Well, that sucked."

Disgruntled that he could forge weapons, but ultimately suck at making armor, he wouldn't feel very rested until he made some armor that could last. "This better work, I'm tired of those times where I get a streak in failures...I will improve." He pulled out a few ores, and was ready to work his forge. His results weren't as good as he hoped. The first try, it seemed to come out wrong, and when he tried to salvage it, he couldn't seem to get any metal back from the forge. The second time, it just plain didn't work. The third time, he managed to make some acceptable armor, though he hoped it would be better. "*sigh*... Well, at least it's better than nothing."

Vigilon had been needing to start crafting again, but his material supply was constantly running low. For now, he would try his hand at making armor again, before taking a small break to hopefully restock again. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how much effort he put into his work, he couldn't seem to get anything better than uncommon when it came to Heavy Armor. "Could it be I'm just better suited for weapons?" He thought. After cleaning up the metallic mess from his failures, he made sure the two successful crafts were nice and clean before moving them to the display racks, not that they would be ordered in a long shot. "It might be worth the risk, so I guess I should find a time to gather some higher tier materials for the shop..." He said to himself as he worked.

Vigilon was back in his shop, ready to start crafting again since he had the materials, although not for long. He selected four materials from his storage, and he started up the fire. "Alright, let's get started!" He started by making some Heavy Armor. He began with something simple, which turned out fine. Then... He took one of the materials he had. It was given to him by Krysta, after he'd battled a dragon alongside her. The material was looted from the dragon, and it was one of those unusual materials...dragon bones. Turns out, it makes excellent armor. It came out looking awesome. "Oh yeah, this is gonna sell for sure." He had another hot metal shattering incident, but then he managed to make a powerful looking Two-handed Sword. What a day of crafting this has been.

Another day, another time to craft again. He was considering opening his shop pretty soon. After all, he was going to do so anyway, so why not soon? As he prepared to forge some items, he then decided to open the shop shortly after he finished crafting. "All right, when I'm done, I'll get this place in order, sort the items, put them up for sale, and my shop will finally be open..." He worked the forge for a bit of a while. When he was done, he had successfully made three rare weapons. "Right, this ought to do for now...I should start making preparations to open." He began looking around for things that either needed to be rearranged, or were simply out of place. Once he was done, he dusted himself off, and sighed contentedly at his good work.

Krysta was walking in the town of Nimbus, wondering if there would be anything else for her at the moment. She looked at her weapon. A simple saber; it did some decent damage, but she was starting to get worried that it wouldn't be enough in the end. She began looking around, then noticed the nearby mountain where Vigilon had his shop. She decided, "Why not pay him a quick visit?" Surely, she would be doing more than expected during said visit. After a minor trek up the mountain, she knocked on the door. "Alex? are you there?" When she would be let in, she would notice that the interior had now looked like, well, a shop. There were armor and weapon racks, all stocked up with items. She took a look around, noticing a few things, like the dragon bone armor made from Bruniikahrel's remains. She laid her eyes on a Rapier of elegant design. "Um, Alex? If you don't mind, how much would it be for this rapier here?"

Vigilon was doing a little cleaning in the area that he did his forging. He had to do it often, so that nothing would end up catching fire or anything. Sure, the building was indeed made of stone, but not everything within the building wasn't flammable. He heard someone knock on the door, followed by his girlfriend's voice. "Yep, I'm here. Come on in." Krysta entered the shop, and looked around. It was actually the first time she was in the actual building when shop was set up. She soon noticed the Star Saber, the first weapon Vigilon had forged. He did have something in mind regarding prices, but it wasn't official just yet. However, as the owner of the shop, he could still make little deals when he wanted. "Lucky for you, I've opened up the shop, so... Normally, a perfect quality Tier one item like that is worth 700 Col or seven materials of said tier. However, as someone who is going to be in the Rising Dragons, I'll give you a discount. 525 Col, or five materials."

Krysta was happy to know that Vigilon had managed to open up shop. She was actually a bit surprised when he gave her a Guild Discount. "A-a Guild discount, even though the Rising Dragons hasn't been established yet?" She smiled over his kindness. "Heehee, you're the best, Alex. Thank you!" She gave him five hundred and twenty five Col, and retrieved her new weapon. It was perfect. It suited her very well, and no doubt, it would assist her in plenty of battles. Now she needed some better light armor, and a trinket or something, and she would be ready for almost all the tier one floors had for her.

Vigilon returned to his shop, with materials fresh from the seventeenth floor in his inventory. He had also managed to snag something that would boost his crafting immensely(or at least, that's what he believed). He was ready to get to a whole new level of forging. "Right! Now, what should I start with...?" He decided to start by making rapiers...but only one of those crafts was a success. "Man, these are harder to work with than I thought...well, one complete item is better than nothing, I guess." He wondered if it was his inexperience with the new materials that could have affected whether or not he succeeded. Either way, this was going to take some time...

Reinholt enters the shop with a smile on his face. Seemed he wasnt the only one that took a liking to the 7th floor. He waves at the owner. "Lo, there. Lookin for so.e upgraded armor and sword.." He says but trails off as he spots something that he likes. A suit of heavy armor then a sword that was displayed near it. Both perfect quality items that would do him well until his custom order was done.

"I think I'll take these off your hands." He says and walks over to the counter, pulling his menus up and initiate a trade. "1400 col for the heavy armor and two-handed sword there?" He motions to the items In question and waits for his awnser.

Vigilon was making sure the forge was still in working order. Even though he had too few materials, it wouldn't hurt to have some maintenance. Someone entered through the door, and he saw someone looking at two of the items he'd crafted. Bruniikahrel's Resilience, and Darukai. Both pretty good choices. He came up to the counter and asked for the items as he motioned to them. "Yup, that's only 1400 col. It's nice to know that some of my best work can be put to good use." Veriost woke up, yawned, and then she noticed the player. She jumped onto Vigilon's arm, and climbed up to his shoulder. Vigilon chuckled and petted the small white frost dragon.

It had been a while since Vigilon had last made something for his shop. He might as well begin crafting again, for he might actually make something worth buying. He started with forging a rapier, and that would be the best result he'd get for the whole day. After successfully making two other tier one weapons, things would only get crazier from then on. As he attempted to forge a two handed axe from a tier two material, he accidentally got his hand stuck between the anvil and the hot weapon-to-be. How did he notice? The temperature difference, of course. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHH!!!!!!" This little mishap escalated when Vigilon finally got his hand free from the burning metal, because he basically raised his hand upward in a sudden movement, flinging the item in the process, which shattered to pieces upon hitting the wall, each piece shattering into crystals after bouncing off of something. One of the blunt, but still hot pieces nailed Vigilon in the forehead. Veriost Heard Vigilon, and used her frost breath to try and cool down his hand and forehead. This would be the one time he was grateful for the small white frost dragon blasting her ice cold frost breath on him. "Whew...thanks. Man, I never knew that heat could still feel like that! ...Maybe if I didn't think about it, it wouldn't really sting very much...or even at all...I hope I didn't get burned." His hand and forehead continued to tingle, so he took a short break and wrapped his hand and forehead in white cloths before his last craft for the day. He made sure to watch where his hand went this time, but he didn't pay enough attention for the weapon to come out right. He sighed as he melted it back into an ingot. "Well, nobody said blacksmithing was easy..."

Another day in the shop was another day to craft some things for the shop. Vigilon grabbed the hammer, started up the forge, and got to work. Clearly, it would take some time before he mastered crafting tier two items. At least he was able to get two rare items made. For his last craft, he went back to his tier one materials. He managed to make a pretty good sword that should be worth a nice price. "Guess I'm going to need some more practice when it comes to items of a higher tier...but on the bright side, at least I'm actually stocking the shelves with these!"
