Shield's thorns damage was a boon on the battlefield, but with two DPS players behind him, it didn't make up the bulk of the field damage by a long shot. "Don't worry about it," he called out to Hestia. "I can handle myself regardless of what you guys do, so do what you need to." Concentrating on the tip of his sword, Shield focused his energy, forming it into a ball of pale blue light. With a flick of his wrist, he threw it to Sey, watching as his energy ticked up a little ways. The marker that indicated a bleed effect flickered and faded from the King's status bars and as if to celebrate, it let out a gurgling roar and launched itself into the sky. It landed with a crash between all of them, shaking the ground beneath their feet and knocking the top off of the other players' health. Shield held his ground, taking a cursory glance over the others' stats. They're still in one piece. Hestia can probably pretty easily patch them up. He decided it wasn't something that was a concern just yet. A few more of those attacks in rapid succession might be, but it seemed far more concerned with Shield, at least for the moment. Another round of attacks might draw its focus elsewhere, but Shield was watching it far too closely to let anyone else have its attention for long. Meanwhile, behind Shield, the guards continued their attacks, though only two could actually swing at the moment. The other remained stationary, slowly bleeding as it struggled to regain motor control. Unfortunately, only one of those attacking took damage. Shield clucked his tongue. This was not so far a very effective fight for his defensive damage. They should have started dipping into the lower half of their health bars by now, but apparently they had avoided taking just enough to stay above half. Hestia 0 Posted March 3, 2018 #42 Share Posted March 3, 2018 I nod my head with a smile at the progress that is happening in terms of the fight seeing that the King of Lakes is losing health rather quickly which means that the fight will be over a lot sooner then i expected it to have gotten done with. Seeing this i move over towards hakai and just activates First Aid healing her up with a smile on my face as i do so. You got this Hakai knock it dead. I say with a smile on my face as i then back away from her to not get in her way when she goes for an attack against the King of Lakes. I don't even give Sey that much attention in terms of healing since i know his Battle healing will just allow him to live. For myself i know that if i do somehow get dangerously low i can just heal myself up with one of my perfect healing items to get me back to closeish to full as i can get. For now i am back to waiting to make sure that people stay alive, and don't lose health if they can't regenerate it themselves. Hakai 0 Posted March 3, 2018 Author #43 Share Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) ID# 97729 results: Battle: 10 Crit! San Ge: 14x(16+2[Crit])= 252-75= 177 DMG, +Bleed, +Para Hakai gave Hestia a nod as she was healed. She hadn't really expected the action, but it was welcome. Hestia had really done very little and Hakai had almost forgotten that she was there. With that healing though, her health bar was basically back to full. That was a very useful skill to have. it seemed as though everyone else had their own built in healing system. Maybe that was the next step in her build. She raised her katana once again. She rushed in, this time paying close attention to her fighting stance and the distances between her and her target. It payed off. Her katana slashed visciously, carving new sets of red lines in the skin of the boss, the bleed and paralyze symbols once again appearing. She grinned widely and dashed back, looking over at Shield and wondering if he was going to complain about the paralyzing. She was certainly lucky this fight, and she oculd only wish that she had her main weapon. If she did the fight would likely have already been over. There wasn't anything she could do about that though, so she brushed the thought aside. He could seen two issues with Hakai. The first was that her energy was getting very low. The second was that her luck had not escaped the boss, whose eyes swiveled in its paralyzed head to lock onto her. I'm going to have to deal with both of those situations, but for now, the boss can't move, so we'll handle the howling in a moment. "Head's up, Hakai!" he called out, forming a sphere of pale blue light at the tip of his sword and swinging in her direction to toss it to her. "Catch!" The light dispersed along her body, absorbing into her and replenishing her energy bar a little. Meanwhile, the fish guards seemed to be growing restless, unhappy with the state of the battlefield. They lunged forward as a unit and sprung back at the same time as well, clutching at their hands. Their attacks, though landing successfully, had backfired, leaving their forearms and backs of their webbed hands covered in angry red marks. Hestia 0 Posted March 7, 2018 #45 Share Posted March 7, 2018 I look around the battle field, and once more see the guards rather close to approaching death sooner rather then later, but more so the boss almost dying even quicker then the others. Finding myself very much so surprised by this turnabout of events as i just continue to watch the fight with a small sigh wishing i could do something, but knows in the end i don't have anything at all in terms of being able to help out much. Stuck playing support for people that barely take any damage during the fight. i definitely need to get energize at some point to be able to help out during moments such as this...might need to get that before the boss fight actually now that i think about it. I say with a tap of my cheek realizing that morgenstern, and the others wouldn't need healing immediately. That means i could be better of helping in terms of keeping their energy up the entire time during the fight. @Hakai [H:4] Shield HP: 1427/1430 | EN: 121/134 | DMG: 2 | MIT: 214 | EVA: -1 | THN: 99 | BH: 71 | REC: 6 | LD: 7 | PRO: 6 | TNT [H:5] Hakai HP: 780/780 | EN: 54/76 | DMG: 16 | MIT: 66 | EVA: 3 | BLD: 24 | PAR: 1 | [H:3] Sey HP: 1129/1205 | EN: 85/116 | DMG: 16 | MIT: 99 | HLY: 8 | THN: 27 | BH: 60 | ACC: 1 | FTH: (MD 6-10: 21 Dmg) / (MD: 9+: 6 Dmg/2 turns) [H:1/1/1/0] Hestia HP: 896/950 | EN: 84/92 | DMG: 3 | MIT: 111 | EVA: -1 | THN: 36 | BLD: 24 | ACC: 1 | PAR: 2 | REC: 2 | RGN: 10 (RGN +10 HP 2/3 turns) <The King of Lakes> HP: 516/1700 | DMG: 200 | EVA: -1 | MIT: 75 - Bleed 24 (1/2 Turns) <Sahuagin Guard 1> HP: 274/670 | DMG: 201 | ACC: 3 - <Sahuagin Guard 2> HP: 217/670 | DMG: 201 | ACC: 3 - <Sahuagin Guard 3> HP: 373/670 | DMG: 201 | ACC: 3 -

She was sure that the boss would be dead before her energy really became a problem, but the gesture was appreciated all the same. She raisd her katana and rushed the enemy once again. His health was low, but not low enough for a finishing blow. She slashed her katana across the boss, refreshing the bleed effect once more. It was easy to see that the fight would be over in a matter of minutes. Only one or two more attacks and they would all get that sweet sweet SP. She found herself mildly dissapointed at how long it was taking her. She really needed to optimize her damage output somehow. She considered getting the charge skill for a moment before thinking better of it. The extra damage would be nice, but it was more of a situational skill. Maxing out her armor skill would be the safer option, and it would allow her to increase her evasion on top of that. Though none of them had yet died, each was nearing death very rapidly while Shield and his allies were really only losing energy. He had done what he could, but as Hakai landed yet another bleeding strike, the great, clumsy fish began turning its body slowly to face her. That was not an outcome that Shield was going to allow. He filled his lungs, compressing the air before forcing it out at the boss in a torrent of sound. "And where do you think you're going, you old blowhard?!" he roared, slapping the flat of his sword against the front of his shield in a loud, jarring bang of metal on metal. "You still haven't finished dealing with me!" The beady eyes of the so-called King of Lakes narrowed, the tiny pupils focusing on Shield as it abandoned its attempt to turn around. With a gurgling roar, it charged him, lowering its head as it attempted to bowl Shield over. Shield extended his left arm and the Manticore Mask shield that it held, meeting the charging fish monster head-on and stopping it in its tracks. Even as the more vulnerable guards retaliated against the tank, slashing and striking his back with their spears, each of them seemed all the worse for wear while Shield was still only just below full health. "This shouldn't take long." Edited March 9, 2018 by Shield
Hestia 0 Posted March 8, 2018 #48 Share Posted March 8, 2018 I sit back and watch with a grin on my face as the monster's are all barely standing in terms of health leaving not that much to worry about. Though the lack of Sey participating has made progress slightly ever so less then that, but something that the group will just have to deal with in this singular fight. Although for myself all i need to do i just sit and wait and nothing else since nobody is hurt in anyway possible from the fight. I glance towards my familiar who is resting by my feet as i nod liking where his mind is for how to deal with this, but knows i can't take such a stance since i would be seen as lazy or something of the like. That not even taking into account that if the King Of Lakes decides to go with another AOE i will need to get towards hakai as quick as i am able to do so to get her HP to max right away to just be able to say i had done something during this. Shield swore inside of his head, not wanting to open his mouth as the churning waters rioted all around him. With that, the King was gone, heading back to the dock. He swam as hard as he could, keeping pace with the monstrous fish as best he could. All the while, the guards, having followed behind, riding in the wake of their master, began surging through the water one after another, lancing through Shield's body with their spears. Your time is almost up, lackeys. Keep on attacking. You're not hurting my feelings. Edited March 10, 2018 by Shield
Hestia 0 Posted March 10, 2018 #50 Share Posted March 10, 2018 I look towards my shield and unequips the item as i just remain holding my sword as i watch as the three guards go and attack you, and promptly almost die off entirely, and most likely will in their next attempt to try and kill you. Which leaves only the king of lakes who is on his last leg of health also. I grin rather happily at that seeing that the fight is already basically over by this point. For now though i am forced to wait for the King of Lakes to come back, and yourself to make sure i don't get jumped by anything, and suffering some damage from whatever damage these creatures can do. Not entirely sure of the strength of the mobs on this floor by anything. I glance towards my familiar who has taken to napping as i roll my eyes with a small chuckle at this antics. Good job Kuro at least you can rest. I say with a smile on my face. He scrambled up and leaped in the way, blocking the strike from any of his party. However, even as he leaped in the way, the fish slipped on the dock and flopped down onto its side with a crash. Shield landed beside it, propping himself up to watch it flop helplessly for a moment as it attempted to right itself onto its stubby little legs. "Gee, sure am glad I rushed back," he drawled, coming back onto his feet as the great fish thrashed. Behind him, he heard three splashes as the guards launched themselves out of the water. Only one of them landed though. The other two struck Shield midair and burst into shards of light as their health dropped to zero. With only the boss and one guard left, the fight had become much more linear. "Everyone, focus the boss!" he called out. Hestia 0 Posted March 10, 2018 #52 Share Posted March 10, 2018 I turn to shield with a grin glad to see him back up and ready to fight once more by just standing there and taking the hits which is pretty normal for a tank though. I look toward where the King was situated and just shrugs as decide there is no harm in trying to do damage as i move towards the king, and decides that even basic attacks will do since he most likely has mitigation that would make any sword art useless to use. I strike the King of Lakes and just basically bounce off of its blubber for what could count as its skin as i just look at the giant fish as i then back away from it with a sigh. Having hoped for bleed to have activated to at least contribute in some manner. I then move back behind Shield and waits for the enemies to attack once more. #98358 BD:7+2=9 @Shield [H:11/4/4/4] Shield HP: 1427/1430 | EN: 123/134 | DMG: 2 | MIT: 214 | EVA: -1 | THN: 99 | BH: 71 | REC: 6 | LD: 7 | PRO: 6 | TNT [H:6] Hakai HP: 780/780 | EN: 54/76 | DMG: 16 | MIT: 66 | EVA: 3 | BLD: 24 | PAR: 1 | [H:3] Sey HP: 1129/1205 | EN: 85/116 | DMG: 16 | MIT: 99 | HLY: 8 | THN: 27 | BH: 60 | ACC: 1 | FTH: (MD 6-10: 21 Dmg) / (MD: 9+: 6 Dmg/2 turns) [H:1/1/1/0] Hestia HP: 896/950 | EN: 84/92 | DMG: 3 | MIT: 111 | EVA: -1 | THN: 36 | BLD: 24 | ACC: 1 | PAR: 2 | REC: 2 | RGN: 10 (RGN +10 HP 2/3 turns) <The King of Lakes> HP: 194/1700 | DMG: 200 | EVA: -1 | MIT: 75 - Bleed 24 (2/2 Turns) ID# 98343 results: Craft: 12 [REC Proc] MOB: 4 [+1=5 - Miss] Reveal hidden contents <Sahuagin Guard 1> HP: 0/670 | DMG: 201 | ACC: 3 - ID# 98344 results: MOB: 4 [+3+1=8 - Hit! - 201-214=1 dmg - THN: 99 dmg]<Sahuagin Guard 2> HP: 0/670 | DMG: 201 | ACC: 3 - ID# 98345 results: MOB: 8 [+3+1=12 - Hit! - 201-214=1 dmg - THN: 99 dmg]<Sahuagin Guard 3> HP: 76/670 | DMG: 201 | ACC: 3 - ID#

At the moment, everyone's energy was well in hand, Shield had the complete attention of everything on the battlefield, and he was going to need to wait a few moments longer to properly parry anything that the boss sent his way. There wasn't much left to do but make attacks. Shield strode forward, stabbing his sword into the boss' leg. It did next to nothing, but the great fish seemed planty irritated. It swung its tail around, bashing Shield in the ribcage. In doing so, it halved its remaining health and did practically no damage in return. Behind Shield, he could feel one more spear pierce his back, followed immediately by the shattering of the attacker. This fight was more or less at an end. All they needed to do now was wait for the King to make one more solid attack, or else get in a riposte and some lucky bleed damage. Edited March 10, 2018 by Shield
Hestia 0 Posted March 10, 2018 #54 Share Posted March 10, 2018 I just look towards the king of lakes as it smashes into shield once more and loses more then half of its current HP as i just nod my head knowing where it is going from there, so i then just join my familiar with sitting upon the grass and watching the fight. Knowing i will definitely need energize if i am going to be support since not everyone will be in need of healing at all times, but everyone will be in need of energy since that is a resource that could be rather important during a boss fight. With such thoughts i take out my little notebook of things for ideas as i start writing in it little notes for other things i could use to improve myself including a damage set up armor, and writing ideas down for that with what could work for my greek theme. Smiling a bit at being happy i've been able to stick with it for a good bit of time once i had chosen to go with such a theme in terms of appearance of gear and such. While she had not technically left the battlefield, she was as good as safe unless the boss decided to throw in another Body Slam. He braced himself, preparing for whatever death throes the King might have ready in wait, and he swung his sword. It bounced off harmlessly, but to be fair, so did the boss' retaliation, only the latter proved fatal for the attacker. With a gurgling roar, the King's health dropped to zero, and in a flash, it burst into the familiar shards of pale blue light that signified death to both player and monster alike. A congratulatory window burst to life in the air over the dock, and a basic loot readout screen appeared. "Of course," he snorted with a why smirk. "The one time I actually get last hit on a boss is the one time there is no last hit bonus." Edited March 10, 2018 by Shield
Hestia 0 Posted March 10, 2018 #56 Share Posted March 10, 2018 Well i mean there also wasn't many DPS players like it would be on the frontlines, or ones you would team up with normally. I say back to Shield with a grin on my face as i then get up onto my feet and just switches to some vanity gear of a blue jacket, grey shirt, and black shorts. So then what do you plan to do now mister impenetrable Shield. I say with a grin and chuckles at my unintentional pun. Grinning rather proudly from having done so knowing that such puns are always the best to achieve. Wondering what to do from here as Hakai, and Sey just leave right away after the quest's completion not really minding that at all since it is understandable. Quest objective complete time to leave, but i am curious about this Shield man. Having heard his name from Teion before as someone she knows. Rather curious what the man is like one who sounds kind in nature, but in reality a bit hard to talk to possibly.

"There's still a few possible loose ends to tie up," he said, his armor vanishing to be replaced by his usual trinkets for finding hidden things. "On occasion, bosses will have extra gear lying around somewhere nearby that's part of their reward but not part of the automatic loot." His earring was inactive at the moment, but he wasn't yet discouraged. Some loot just took some extra walking and exploring to uncover. He doubled back to the end of the dock where it met the land and began winding around the meandering shoreline, following its curves and juts to see if the water hid more than just fish. "If there's one thing I am, it's painfully practical. Many players lose patience with it, but it's what got me where I am."
Hestia 0 Posted March 10, 2018 #58 Share Posted March 10, 2018 I nod my head as i quickly walk alongside you rather curious what these rewards will entail. Well if anything i am more so curious to learn from you Shield since i may be tier three, but my experience with all the mechanics of this world is still rather lacking i think. I don't have the same experience that people like yourself or Itzal seem to have over myself. I only have my nonstop working, and tackling of quests to have gotten where i am today. I say with a small chuckle hoping that i am not being annoying by speaking so much as we arrive at the docks as i look around with a small grin making sure to remember where this is since it could be a nice calm fishing spot. Especially if i get a boat or something of the like to go towards the center of this lake to just enjoy a nice lazy day of relaxation. by the way do you have a familiar? I ask out of simple curiosity. Wondering what you would have chosen as a type and creature. Always enjoying to see the many varieties that can be found.

"That means you're either very capable or very reckless. I highly doubt it's the latter though. You seem to have earned your stripes well enough." Shield held out his hand and a small, colorful serpent slithered out of the cuff of this shirt, twining around his hand. "She helped us capture the salamander earlier," he said, nodding towards the snake to indicate whom he was referring to. "This is Lilith. She may look like a dangerous beauty, but her bite is actually what heals me when I get into sticky situations." He turned his hand over several times and watched her lazily skate back and forth across his skin, adjusting to the new positions. "There have been more than a few times in recent months where I've needed her help," he said darkly. "Some of the dungeons on the floor below have proven to be incredibly dangerous. I wasn't exactly near death, but I still needed to heal as frequently as possible to make sure a few unlucky attacks wouldn't be the difference between living and dying." Shield noticed a bright reflection on the water and when he lifted his hand he could see that the light was coming from his earring. Glancing down at the water's edge, he spotted a small rounded pebble that seemed to be of a particularly unique pattern, flecked with gold and turquoise spots. It would likely make someone a fine trinket. He pocketed it and continued following the shore. Edited March 10, 2018 by Shield
Hestia 0 Posted March 10, 2018 #60 Share Posted March 10, 2018 I smile a bit at hearing the small bit of praise that i get. Finding it meaningful since it is coming from a person that i can only guess has been on the frontlines for awhile. Thanks for the words of confidence Shield, and it is nice to meet your familiar Lilith. I say happily as i look towards the snake and curiously tries to touch the snake. I don't think she looks all that dangerous in the sense i think she wouldn't attack others unless you told her to do so. Especially since you said she was a healing familiar. I say with a grin as i look towards my familiar. Obviously Kuro is my familiar. I say gesturing towards the lion with wings as he looks over towards you and just moves his right wings as a way to try and communicate a greeting. When you mention a dungeon i just nod my head with a smile. Well i'm glad you've been able to make it through such dungeons while living. If you ever need a healer of some sort to help make sure you live i would be happy to help Shield. That is if you think i would be capable enough to make it through such a dungeon. since so far my only experience with them was on floor eleven. Which makes me wonder just how much stronger are those upon the next tier compared to that. I say as i look up towards the sky remembering that the boss had done enough to actually be comparable to a quest mob on the stronger side of things. Which means floor twenty one is probably a whole lot worse.
