Baldur 0 Posted May 23, 2018 #21 Share Posted May 23, 2018 (edited) Baldur watched as Hestia handled the forgotten king like a pro, deflecting his attacks to the side and creating openings for them to slip in. Baldur saw Hikoru make his move, and rushed in to match the Master of Shadows. Activating his sword art <<San Ge>> with an aggressive kiai, Baldur's form was silhouetted by the red arcs of light as his sword moved faster than any person could ever hope to move, and each time his blade dug into the health of the boss, it's HP dropped further until he culminated in the powerful overhead chop of the sword art, the blade driving right through the boss's crown and scoring a critical hit. "Ha! Take that!" He pushed off with his feet, taking a few steps back for safety as he watched for the king to turn on him or Hikoru, or unleash some powerful super move. They were wearing him down well. Not as good as he had hoped, but it was appearing to be more doable than he had hoped. Hestia was still at almost full health, and the boss was getting lower. That was the way to gauge success. Hestia 0 Posted May 23, 2018 Author #22 Share Posted May 23, 2018 I look towards the king once more as he fends off Hikoru with relative ease preventing the strike from occurring, but having left himself wide open in the process as Baldur slices into the king as i just smile at the timing of things as i see my health fill right back up to full as i then turn to the King who glares at me before quickly charging as i activate energize sending it over to Baldur with my familiar tapping him gently on the back to serve as a medium. I then turn back to the King who is already within striking range. 'I really need to be activating energize sooner.' I think to myself. I see the spear go towards me as i raise my shield quickly as i feel the impact once more push me back ever so slightly, but not as far as i was more prepared this time. Having seen how strong the attack was as i just smile at the king as my health is already slowly filling back up. Seems like this quest wasn't as hard as people made it out to be. Just a very big fight of outlasting the opponent which is something i am use to anyway. I say with a small shrug of my shoulders as the king slams its bladed spear like weapon along the ground in anger at my claims, but even then not making a single noise verbally. #101302 CD:2 MD:7+4=11 300-178=122 Thorns:84 Action: Energize [-10 to me] [+8 to Baldur] [+1 nat to me] [+102 HP] [H: 5] Hestia: 1303/1425 ENG:118/138 MIT:178 Thorns: 84 EVA:-1 ACC:0 DMG:15 Regen: (+45 HP for 3 turns after being hit) Rec: (+3 ENG of CD:6) [H: 1] Hikoru: 1510/1510 ENG:124/148 MIT: 79 EVA: 3 ACC: 2 DMG: 20 [H: 3] Baldur: 1090/1090 ENG: 87/106 MIT 91 EVA 3 ACC 4 DMG 25 (-14 EN, +1) Forgotten King: HP: 2594/3750 DMG: 300 (on a critical Paralyze, Removes all Hate on that Player.) Hikoru 0 Posted May 23, 2018 #23 Share Posted May 23, 2018 Hikoru watched everything in Slow motion, from Baldur getting a critical hit, to Hestia blocking and bringing his health down, to even his fingers adjusting the grip on his dagger. Everything was slowed down for him, everything seemed slow as he watched the bosses movements, looking for an opening, a weakness. Since Baldur attacked his weak side, he would be very protective of it, so he knew he couldn't attack it unless he wanted to fail. He waited until his weapon was arced into the air from Hestia's shield that he moved in for an attack, taking large strides as he leapt, landing a kill into his heart, the sword art attacking him and bringing his health down even lower. He smiled as he kicked off the skeletal chest of the king, backflipping and landing behind Hestia "There, now Baldur!" He said simply, adjusting the grip on his dagger again and waiting for the next oppertune moment to appear to strike the creature yet again. ID: 101303 BD: 5+2=7 Hit! Baldur 0 Posted May 23, 2018 #24 Share Posted May 23, 2018 (edited) Baldur watched as they started to develop a rhythm, Hestia would block and throw the boss off balance, Hikoru would come with a precision blow that would leave the boss open for Baldur to rush in and capitalize on, and his team mates did just that. Hestia took damage, but she managed throw off the boss, allowing Hikoru to dive in and drive his dagger into the chest of the skeleton. The weight and force of the blow caused the boss to stagger, and Baldur used the moment to attack the exposed injured weak point on the left side of the boss where repeated strikes had left him vulnerable. "Time to get boned!" Baldur's sword art blurred around him, throwing off crimson energy and stray bits of polygon and mesh as the demonic blade tore into the exposed flank. "Sorry! Language! Hikoru, ear muffs." He tosses a teasing smile at the master of shadows, confident enough in their fight to now begin the pithy remarks. Hestia 0 Posted May 23, 2018 Author #25 Share Posted May 23, 2018 I grin as i see the attacks continue to happen back to back slowly beating back the king with a very quick motion as baldur seems like he found some weakness within the mob and knows just how to strike it if the damage he is doing is anything to go by. I chuckle a bit as i then stop as i see the king turn to baldur and lunge at him, and just missing him. 'Too close.' I think in slight worry as i quickly activate focused howl once more slamming the side of my shield with the pommel of my sword. Hey! Focus back on me king we're not done here yet! i call over towards the mob as i see it turn back towards me ready to continue the fight as i let out a breathe of relief at that working. 'Okay keep in mind this isn't going to be easy at all, with how Baldur is striking it i will need to keep a more careful eye on who the king is eyeing up for attacks now.' i think to myself as i wait for the next strike to happen. Hikoru 0 Posted May 23, 2018 #26 Share Posted May 23, 2018 Hikoru watched, watched and waited for the right time to hit it's weak point. Baldur had hit it twice now, so he would have to use his Shadow Skill to be able to hit it. He closed his eyes and focused, becoming a being of shadow himself, turning into a dark black as he moved quickly, his eyes closed as he concentrated, going by pure instinct. At the last second he opened them to see he had aimed perfectly striking the creature from its side and stabbing its undead heart through its weak point, the tip of his dagger poking from the outside towards the other players, his weapon turning a light gray as he struck, the Mitigation of the creature not being able to hold up against his own attack. He smiled as he brought down it's second health bar to almost empty, just the smallest sliver left. They would be onto the next health bar soon. He gave a swift kick to the side of the creature's head as he finished his attack. "Boot to the head" He said, launching off the kick and sending him spiraling to the side, leaving him vulnerable. He nodded to Bal. "Take your shot!" He spoke, walking away from the king who was fallen to the ground. Baldur 0 Posted May 23, 2018 #27 Share Posted May 23, 2018 As Baldur laid his last blow onto the boss, he realized almost too late that his hate was now tied with Hestia's as the crimson eyes flicked in his direction and struck out, his blade arcing towards Baldur but the samurai wanna-be was able to clear out of the way of the blow by leaping back and getting out of its reach then he smiled as Hikoru dealt the <<Forgotten King>> another massive blow. They seemed to work at this boss as if they had rehearsed it, or had some sort of strategy guide none of them had. For whatever the reason, the fight was progressing better than they could have hoped for. Ever since that stumble, Baldur had managed to hit the boss' critical weak spot every time. His steel blue eyes were now glued to that spot, and waiting for Hikoru and Hestia to open it up once again as he launched his savage, crimson cascade of sword art light arcs into the boss, dropping it's HP even further. He had no huge spike like Hikoru did with his critical hits and phase, but somehow Baldur was able to keep up a constant and steady stream of massive damage. "We got this guys, his health is in the yellow now!" With a grin, Baldur whirled out of the way to make sure and avoid any follow up attacks. With once i do so my familiar flies on over and taps Baldur on the back with one of his paws being the medium for the skill. I then turn to the king as i see him charge forward swordspear in hand as i quickly raise my shield up as i take the hit as i push back ever so slightly to remain where i am. I look into the king's glowing red eyes with a grin. Could've done better if you were actually stronger. Hikoru 0 Posted May 24, 2018 #29 Share Posted May 24, 2018 Hikoru took the advantage Hestia gave him by blowing back his sword, to run and kick him in the jaw, his arm reaching down with his dagger and stabbing him through the heart, repeatedly stabbing and finishing his sword art as he used his chest as a spring board to retreat, landing next to Hestia and Baldur in a cloud of dust. His hood was blown back from his head as he landed, revealing his raven black hair, goggles and steel-gray eyes that stared at the boss intently. They had almost beaten this boss, they would be the first to defeat it, as far as he had heard. He had made many notes on the boss thus far, including its weak point on its left side, the gash as painful-looking as it did when they had started. He smiled and nodded to Baldur "Alright, it's all yours." He said with another nod. He looked at Hestia and nodded to her as well. "And good job so far, we haven't taken any hits, and your health hasn't even come close to the yellow. You've become a good tank rookie." He said with a chuckle. He then focused his attention back on the boss, watching it's movements and waiting for the next opening. ID: 101319 BD: 4+2=6 Hit! Baldur 0 Posted May 29, 2018 #30 Share Posted May 29, 2018 (edited) Baldur tried to keep his eyes on the prize, but when Hikrou struck home once again, the undead king collapsed in on itself further than it had. Perhaps now because it was in the yellow? For whatever the reason, it fell differently, and Baldur was not prepared for the change in rhythm they had built up so far in the quest. As he was activating his sword art, he almost completely missed the mob, but at the last minute he was able to pivot on his back foot, and adjust so that the crimson slashes of light emitted by the <<muramasa>> struck home. It didn't do as much damage, but it did pretty close to it. The blades tore into the model of the skeleton king, chipping off flecks of bone and polygons of red wire mesh as they dug into it. "We're doing pretty good! I think we've almost got it in the red!" As the final overhead chop of the sword art came down, Baldur leapt back from the boss, always cautious of it turning to aggro him instead of Hestia, just in case. Hestia 0 Posted May 29, 2018 Author #31 Share Posted May 29, 2018 I chuckle at Hikoru's words as i glance towards the master of shadows. Pleease. I may be a rookie possibly in terms of experience compared to you, but i am far ahead of such a title. I may be no shield with his thorns and healing familiar, but i've come up with my own version to compensate for that. Healing and thorns enhancement for days. i say with a grin on my face as i look towards Hik. besides i am close to you in level by this point i believe. I say in a joking sort of tone towards the Rogue as i activate energize with my familiar once more tapping baldur to do the transfer himself as i look towards the king as i see its stance change. Electricity seemingly coursing through its weapon and sparking ever so slightly. Huh..this just got interesting. i say softly to myself as i look towards the king as it charges forward towards me as i just prepare myself for the inevitable attack. I see the king charge forward as i just smile and blocks the attack with my shield as i quickly move my shield towards the side to leave the king open ever so slightly, but to my surprise the king then quickly jumps back away with its weapon ready once more to strike. Huh..it seems to be moving faster and being much more cautious. I say softly to myself as i observe the king slowly circling around my area while staring me down as i just adjust which direction i am facing as the king slowly circles. Knowing it is trying to find a single moment where it could strike at a undefended spot in my stance. #101421 MD:6+4=10 300-178=122 DMG Thorns:84 DMG Action: Energize [-10 to me] [+8 to Baldur] [+1 to me] [H: 10] Hestia: 1405/1425 ENG:96/138 MIT:178 Thorns: 84 EVA:-1 ACC:0 DMG:15 Regen: (+45 HP for 3 turns after being hit) Rec: (+3 ENG of CD:6) [H: 2] Hikoru: 1510/1510 ENG: 79/148 MIT: 79 EVA: 3 ACC: 2 DMG: 20 [H: 8] Baldur: 1090/1090 ENG: 72/106 MIT 91 EVA 3 ACC 4 DMG 25 (-14 EN, +1) Forgotten King: HP: 1305/3750 DMG: 300 (on a critical Paralyze, Removes all Hate on that Player.) Hikoru 0 Posted May 29, 2018 #32 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Hikoru waited for Hestia to deflect the boss back, then he went for the strike. The creature in front of him however, saw it coming. It quickly brought up its great sword and deflected his dagger easily, the clang of metal against metal echoing off the walls of the room as Hikoru was blown back, his feet standing firm as he was pushed back from the sheer force of the blow, his feet bringing up cloads of dust, showing the straight path he had slid. When he finally stopped, he landed on a knee, his body still shaking form the blow as the residual energy left his body. He looked at Baldur "This things got a second phase or something. It's instincts are way better now, so be careful!" He said as he stood, the last of the kinetic energy leaving his flesh. He moved a bit, making sure nothing was sore from that, relaxing himself and switching hands with his dagger, knowing that he needed to take it a bit more seriously than he had been before. Baldur 0 Posted June 8, 2018 #33 Share Posted June 8, 2018 (edited) Their rhythm was off. It had started with their last round of battering the king down, but it hadn't been immediately apparent, but the boss was adapting to them. He knew that the longer you were engaged with a monster in SAO, the more the AI would adapt to your actions. They seemed to have found a rhythm which for a while had kept the AI unable to respond, but at some point they had kept it up for too long and it was now adapting. First it was the lack of a critical hit, just a subtle change in the way the boss fell after being hit by Hikoru, and then another slight adjustment to the way it moved and Hikoru missed, but Baldur was already hot on the assassin's heels and when the boss threw their rhythm off, Baldur's hit failed to land. "Tsk!" Baldur made an annoyed sound as he struggled to keep his feet from skidding on the ground and push his way back away from the boss and any follow up attacks it may think to make. "It's okay, we'll regroup and get the hang of it's new move set." Hestia 0 Posted June 8, 2018 Author #34 Share Posted June 8, 2018 I watch as both Hikoru and Baldur manage to miss the king as the being seems to be moving with this kind of grace that it hasn't been displaying as of yet in the fight. I frown slightly knowing that means it could being taking up a new method of attacking and if it does so could mean catastrophe for the entire party. 'All i got to do is dodge when it starts sparking up for a paralyze if the information is correct about its capacity.' I think to myself with a nod of my head as i see the king charge forward as i slam the pommel of my sword against my shield. Come here you king! You can try to avoid damage all you want, but you can't avoid the sting of trying to harm a tank! I shout towards the enemy as i charge towards it to meet its strike. I raise my shield as the jab of the spear comes towards me facing the brunt of the attack. I then nod my head knowing that a new strategy needs to happen as i knock the spear towards the ground. As the king quickly tries to move swiftly around me dragging its spear around the ground for a brief second before raising it up once more to prepare for a strike at my exposed back. The creature seemingly ignoring you two entirely at this point. #101578 CD:9 MD:2+4=6 300-178=122 DMG Thorns: 84 Action Taken: Focused Howl [-8 ENG] [+1 natural eng] [+3 eng] [H: 15] Hestia: 1303/1425 ENG:92/138 MIT:178 Thorns: 84 EVA:-1 ACC:0 DMG:15 Regen: (+45 HP for 3 turns after being hit) Rec: (+3 ENG of CD:6) [H: 2] @Hikoru: 1510/1510 ENG: 79/148 MIT: 79 EVA: 3 ACC: 2 DMG: 20 [H: 8] Baldur: 1090/1090 ENG: 71/106 MIT 91 EVA 3 ACC 4 DMG 25 (-2 EN, +1) Forgotten King: HP: 1221/3750 DMG: 300 (on a critical Paralyze, Removes all Hate on that Player.) Hikoru 0 Posted June 9, 2018 #35 Share Posted June 9, 2018 Hikoru studied the skeleton carefully, figuring out its movements, its new pattern. He watched as it deflected Baldur's attack, then as it struck Hestia. Hikoru took that chance, that split second time it took for the boss to refresh its reflexes, he struck. Stabbing the creature dead through its heart once again, adding another gash to the multiple gashes already in the nearby area, then he finishes his sword art, dwindling its health along with his energy. He looked to see that it had gone below the halfway mark, and he raised an eyebrow in question. He had done a good job at keeping his energy up most days, but he was starting to run low, and if it continued he would have to start using his Dagger sword arts. "Do you have any energy to spare Hestia? I'm starting to run low!" He said towards the girl. He looked at Baldur. "Go for it!" He shouted, backing away and giving Baldur enough space to do what he needed to do. ID: 101606 BD: 8+2=10 Hit! Baldur 0 Posted June 10, 2018 #36 Share Posted June 10, 2018 (edited) There was definitely something off. Baldur could feel it. The echos of the rhythm they had built up just seemed to linger in his motions, and he was having trouble shifting gears to match this new attack pattern that the boss was exhibiting. As Baldur pushed forward to follow up Hikoru, the boss turned to the steel eyed wanna-be samurai and parried Baldur's attack, before the sword art could even kick off. It's own, wicked blade interfering with Baldur's long practiced sword art pre-motion. "Dammit!" Baldur cursed, letting out his frustration at the interruption and his inability to monopolize on a new opening. "Sorry! I can't seem to get the timing down for this new attack pattern yet. I'll get him next time!" His eyes would have burned the forgotten king with their intensity but no such magic was possible in this world. Instead he lowered his sword, not going with his usual style of locking on and holding the pre-motion until the opening happened. Now he would improvise, predict the opening, and then move into the pre-motion, hopefully not giving the boss the ability to read him. Hestia 0 Posted June 13, 2018 Author #37 Share Posted June 13, 2018 I quickly move forward and turn around towards the King to see what it is doing as i move my shield up to block the possible incoming spear that would've pierced my back. However, i see Hik come in and strike at the creature with multiple jabs delaying it some more as i nod my head and moves forward tapping him on the shoulder to boost his energy once more as i focus on the King as it adjusts itself once more from the attack. I see the King turn and parry Baldur's attack with very fluid grace and motions as it charges once more back towards me dashing around with increased speed. Little gusts of wind and dust being kicked up with every motion it makes as its spearblade sparks with electricity. I watch the King move towards me as i raise my shield to match him as the spear meets shield as i keep my ground while looking from behind the shield at the king. The NPC not budging from his spot as it slowly pushes me away from it. #101704 MD:7+4=11 CD:7 300-178=122 Action Taken: Energize on Hik [-10] [+8] [+1] [+3] Thorns: 84 [H: 15] Hestia: 1283/1425 ENG:86/138 MIT:178 Thorns: 84 EVA:-1 ACC:0 DMG:15 Regen: (+45 HP for 3 turns after being hit) Rec: (+3 ENG of CD:6) [H: 2] @Hikoru: 1510/1510 ENG: 72/148 MIT: 79 EVA: 3 ACC: 2 DMG: 20 [H: 8] Baldur: 1090/1090 ENG: 70/106 MIT 91 EVA 3 ACC 4 DMG 25 (-2 EN, +1) Forgotten King: HP: 1007/3750 DMG: 300 (on a critical Paralyze, Removes all Hate on that Player.) Hikoru 0 Posted June 13, 2018 #38 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Hikoru stood back as Baldur missed again, the creature easily deflecting his attack. He looked at his dagger in curiosity. Was this creature having difficulty deflecting him because of his shortened blade? If so, that would put him at an advantage. He grit his teeth and sprinted forward as Hestia deflected the creature, sliding along the ground and becoming enveloped in dust, stabbing the creature through the heart once again. A small groan could be heard from the creature as Hikoru completed another full Sword Art on him, bringing his health down even lower, becoming a sickly orange. Hikoru smiled "We got him on the ropes! Also, it seems to have difficulty with shorter-bladed weapons! Be aware of that!" He said, saying it aloud to mentally remember this for the new file on this quest he would make. He was one of the only Info Brokers who was actually strong enough to take on such a boss, except Aru, who he had doing some paperwork while he was out. He was excited to tell the tale and write this out with the young man whom he had taken under his wing, and he hoped to see him grow up to be a very good Info Broker, even better than him. Baldur 0 Posted June 14, 2018 #39 Share Posted June 14, 2018 (edited) As Baldur changes up how he activated his sword arts, the trick seemed to work. The simple differences in his action had made it so that the AI was no longer able to predict his moves so accurately. It now seemed obvious to Baldur that as they had built up their rhythm, he had gotten too lazy and predictable. He kept doing the exact same thing in order to keep up the perfect timing they had, and when the <<Forgotten King>> had dropped between health bars, his new mode and AI were able to catch up and read the wanna-be samurai easily. Now, he varied his movements, and only snapped into the pre-motion of <<San Ge>> when the timing was right. He couldn't be quite so pinpoint as when he held the pre-motion until just the right moment, but this at least kept his attacks from being so predictable that they were evaded or countered. "Alright, let's finish this Ess Oh Bee off! Once more, crimson light erupted around Baldur's cursed blade, and he slashed at the king with a ferocious speed that could neither be evaded, nor matched by mortal men. Each crimson arc of light was a blur of motion that took chunk after chunk out of their target, inching them towards ultimate victory. Hestia 0 Posted June 14, 2018 Author #40 Share Posted June 14, 2018 I grin as i see the two warriors manage to land another strike upon the king as it slowly rises and holds its spear as it glances around its fighting arena before focusing back upon myself. I just give the creature a grin and holds my shield ready to parry the attack that is to come from the creature. I quickly activate energize towards Hikoru healing him up from the energy he had used up. Figuring since the two were even almost giving Hik the energy was for the best since he has been consistent with damage. I look towards the king who charges forward as i raise my shield up blocking the lunging jab from the king as the force knocks me back several inches as i look towards the creature with a simple smile on my face. Enjoying the fight, and the strength this creature seems to have behind every hit it has. However, still surprised it wasn't as difficult as rumors made it sound. #101731 MD:3+4=7 300-178=122 CD:11 Thorns: 84 Action: Energize [-10 to me] [+8 to Hikoru] [+1 to me] [+3 to me] [H: 15] Hestia: 1263/1425 ENG:80/138 MIT:178 Thorns: 84 EVA:-1 ACC:0 DMG:15 Regen: (+45 HP for 3 turns after being hit) Rec: (+3 ENG of CD:6) [H: 2] @Hikoru: 1510/1510 ENG: 57/148 MIT: 79 EVA: 3 ACC: 2 DMG: 20 [H: 9] Baldur: 1090/1090 ENG: 56/106 MIT 91 EVA 3 ACC 4 DMG 25 (-14 EN, +1) Forgotten King: HP: 593/3750 DMG: 300 (on a critical Paralyze, Removes all Hate on that Player.)
