A strange name. Whatever did it mean? She'd have to funnel that question to her broker later, maybe, if she was feeling up to it.

One push through the door. NIGHT would be lying if she said she was here to find items of import that caught her eye. Instead, she just needed something to listen to when passing the time idling back home. A familiar face -- @Arabelle -- and the player knew exactly why she'd felt the pressure looming over her the moment she stepped into the shop.

Maybe it was just her, though. Or was it something about that military uniform that demanded respect? Either way, NIGHT swallowed back her fears, lurking about the displays with a careful watch.

Payment at the counter. The customer tried not to meet her eyes. At the end of the visit, she would have what she needed, and a little something extra to pair with her purchase.

Instant debuffs, instant HP recoveries... and [Misperception]. Four ranks into her profession, Arabelle had found that she didn't entirely care about profiting off her crafts -- but there was nothing to be lost from taking note of which enhancements were selling. "A perfect and three masterpieces," the pianist murmured thoughtfully. She recognized a composition from Debussy, but the other title was unfamiliar; a request for sheet music at the usual shops was in order. Arabelle set both order forms down and offered NIGHT a pleasant smile to allay any concerns that might have risen from her pause. "These shouldn't be a problem with my rank, but the crafting system does tend to be a bit unpredictable. Please come by again on the 14th."

When her customer had left, the small purple-haired girl ascended to the second floor and pulled up the lid of her piano. Most of her crafting was done in the early hours of the morning, to which she would open her windows near the end and let the notes of her last vanity piece flow out from the second-floor room down to the sleepy town beneath. Today, however, she had left herself with one last daily craft to consume.

That was a pretty song…

She'd ended her morning crafts with one of NIGHT’s requested songs as a final (vanity) performance.

May 14th, the deadline she'd set for herself – and all the required crafts had been finished the day before. On a shelf purposely reserved for custom orders, Arabelle took four blue crystals, each marked with a small symbol of a black phoenix. She checked their attributes with a soft tap on their glimmering surfaces before descending to the ground floor to arrange them in a neat line on her shop counter, where she would leave them until opening hours.

"Good evening," she would greet with a smile, rising from her stool politely as her customer drew closer. "Here are your crafts, as promised." Arabelle tilted her head, making a small sweeping gesture over her crystals. "I've never heard of Full Fathom Five before, but it was great! Thanks for ordering, and please come by again."

A part of her had almost forgotten she'd had items to pick up. When she headed into Magnolia once again, it was out of a need for more crystals -- how she hadn't run into that fervent desire for music sooner, NIGHT didn't know.

But she had it now. For both her sanity and her protection out on the field.

There was a look of surprise on the customer's face when she'd spotted the performer welcome her back in (that moment, NIGHT decided that it had to be a mix of the shadows and the uniform that gave her fears to rise). She nodded in return, looking over the glass blocks with care, before sending them each to her inventory, thoughts slipping out of her carelessly. "You play classical pieces most of the time, right? It makes sense, then. That song's from another game. It's... comforting." And sad, but by that turn of phrase, NIGHT had completed her crystal gathering, regaining the right of mind to shut her jaw before anything else poured out.

What might've given away the player's unreadiness for the completed order was another browsing of wares. One quick round about the displays, and NIGHT had another set of crystals in hand to pay for. "They've been helpful," she admitted, a light smile gracing her lips. "I appreciate it -- the buffs and the music both, I mean. You play well."

Kaliot had seen Magnolia before on his town-exploration trips, but the shop was only open for a small window in the late evening making it somewhat difficult to visit, but today he'd planned for it since he was actually here for something.

He stepped into the shop and was greeted with the pleasant sound of a faint song, a currently unseen voice singing in tandem. Aside from the music, multiple paintings lined the walls and blue crystals were neatly ordered on the shelves; the atmosphere of it all was quite comfy. Kaliot took a few more steps in and saw the counter, occupied by the shopkeeper.

"Good evening! I was looking for something that would help me with taming mobs. Do you happen to have anything on hand?"

Another [Familiar Sight], ordered by a polite young man who didn’t quite seem to know what he was doing.

“No, I don’t have anything on hand at the moment,” the performer admitted – and even if she did, her [Familiar Sight] enhancement would have been tied to a song different from the one he requested. She looked through the order form once again and turned an appraising eye to her newest customer. “I can craft a masterpiece, but they’re difficult to come by and it’ll be easier on your funds if I made a regular Perfect instead. For [Familiar Sight]s, there’s fundamentally no difference between regulars and masterpieces. You’re supposed to play the song once before you start your search then the effect should stay with you for the entire day, and even with an instant crystal on hand, familiars ordinarily take a very long time to appear.

“What do you say? A regular [Familiar Sight] will be 600 col or 6 T1 materials.” Neatly folding up the order form, Arabelle tucked her hands behind her back and tilted her head in friendly invitation. “I can head upstairs and craft it now. You’re free to sit in, if you like. No extra charges.”

"I see, I see," Kaliot said, nodding his head up and down despite not getting the full gist of what Arabelle had said. Heck, he barely understood some of the stuff that he had said. "Sounds good to me! Let's see, 600 col." His voice trailed off as he went into his menu to transfer the money to her. A few boops and a DING! later, he was 600 col poorer; he also wasn't quite sure of its value so he thought nothing of that, either.

Kaliot decided to wait around the shop. He wasn't the type to get antsy from staying in one place for too long but the ambiance of Magnolia kept him entranced anyway. And before he knew it, his request was done! "Thank you very much. I appreciate it!"

She'd just about run dry of one type of crystal, and then had the gall to go back for more.

It was simple math, NIGHT told herself -- a consumable made for one battle was sure to be more effective for her in the long run than to splurge on some food item that might last her a day. That, and the fact she could use them on the go meant that she could fight on an empty stomach if she so chose. Easier than stuffing her face full of hotdogs (though even that scenario had been waning for a while now). And the arts were always welcome no matter what day it was.

So the intimidation factor was worth to brave through. It had to be.

As NIGHT set down a whole clutter of items onto the counter, her eyes darted to the side, looking at the shopkeeper only from the corner of her eye once more. A quick transaction -- hopefully nothing more -- and the player was on her way out once again.

The faint sound of humming floated around the vicinity of a white-haired woman walking whimsically down a well-lit street, her black dress playing along with the oscillations of her steps. Xin wasn't tired of exploring towns just yet and Taft seemed especially pretty in the evening. She suddenly came to a pause. Her ears perked up and she tilted her head. Xin stood still for a moment before turning a hard 90 degrees to face the building closest to her. "Magnolia? Hmm," she said before proceeding through the front entrance.

“That’s right,” said the performer, returning the young woman’s smile with one of her own. She was lovely in that flowing dress of hers, had a dreamy air about her. Arabelle liked pretty things. “If you’re looking to tame a familiar, that’s the enhancement I can offer you.”

[Familiar Sight] number three…

Arabelle had expected this. New customers ordered a [Familiar Sight] before anything else, and with Magnolia’s growing popularity, she was starting to see more fresh faces venturing into her humble establishment. But she hadn’t really expected to see one so early

“Here.” A rectangular blue crystal materialized in her palm. If one were to turn it over, they would find a symbol of a black phoenix etch into one of its sides – a motif she wasn’t entirely consistent with. Holding it out to her customer, she tilted her head. Despite her needing to ask for clarification, her newest customer looked prepared with her little notepad and all. Her additional advice wouldn't be necessary. “That would be 800 col.”
