[F1-SP] <<The Second Lesson, Is Also Free>> {Ronin}

Recommended Posts

Ronin stood inside of a blacksmith's workshop, awaiting instructions from an NPC who he had just made acquaintance with. Just a few minutes ago, he had been on the search for this NPC because another NPC had given him a package to deliver. Upon entering the shop and delivering the package, the blacksmith told Ronin he could use Ronin's help. Ronin wasn't exactly thrilled to be on an unknown number of chain quests. "It's not like I had anything else to do today", he thought. The blacksmith, Lyle Tealeaf, spoke.

"You see Ronin, I've been looking for some Boar Pup tusks. I just need 3. In order to get them, you'll have to fight Boar Pups", Lyle explained. "FIGHT?" Ronin's eyes widened. "DID HE JUST SAY FIGHT? i FINALLY GET TO FIGHT SOMETHING?"

"The reason I need them-"

"I'M IN", Ronin exclaimed, cutting off the NPC. Ronin ran out the door.

Ronin ran through the streets of the Town of Beginnings, trying to keep the grin on his face from being too noticeable. He felt energetic, like he could do anything. He felt excited, there was a new opportunity. "Finally! I can't believe it! A combat quest! I can't wait to slash my sword through those Boar Pups!", he thought. He weaved in and out of the crowd of players in the merchant district, trying to rush towards the Town's front gate as soon as possible. "I know there are Boar Pups out there. I've seen them before. Now I actually get the chance to kill them!". People directed strange looks towards him as he fought his way through the crowd, but he didn't care. He was given a chance to use his sword, and he wasn't going to waste any time getting to those boar pups. At last, he burst through the merchant district and into the center of the city.

Ronin continued toward the north gate. "I can see them", he thought, as he passed through. Several boars were grazing in the plains, some with pups. Ronin continued down the dirt path until he was around 30 feet away from the closest group of boars. "I have no doubt in my mind that I could take the pups and the adults, but maybe there's an easier way to do this". He scanned the area surrounding him. Suddenly, he spotted a boar pup all by itself in the distance. "Must've wandered off from the herd", he speculated. He dashed toward the boar pup. Several seconds later, the baby boar looked up just in time to see Ronin deliver his first slash to a monster in Sword Art Online.

"I- I did it". He looked down at his sword. He couldn't believe he was finally in combat. The pup reared its head and gave a headbutt to Ronin, who was too distracted to dodge. Ronin was knocked back a few feet.

The adrenaline still coursing through his veins, Ronin recovered immediately and jumped up from the small charge. He brushed himself off. "I shouldn't let myself get distracted like that", he thought. The boar pup turned to face him, though Ronin couldn't read its expression. "Alright, this time let's try a sword skill". He held his sword over the back of his shoulder, the blade resting behind his neck. The system recognized this motion as the charging of a sword skill, and the steel blade glowed a light blue. "Good thing I read the guidebook". He remembered the instructions he had read. "Once the skill is charged, let it go and the system will assist in moving your body". He swung his sword down and charged at the boar. He didn't bother instructing his upper limbs to move, and the skill missed. Before he could realize what happened, the boar pup gave him another charge, sending him flying backward again.

"Let's try that again", Ronin thought. He picked himself up and charged his sword. "Okay, this time, swing the sword", he told himself. He repeated the same process, and his blade once again glowed light blue. Ronin swung his sword out and dashed at his opponent. He gave the command to his arm to swing the sword, but no sooner had he had twitched his arm he felt the system kick in. He sliced through the boar once from right to left, and completed the two hit combo with a swing from the left to right. It was so fast it looked like one hit. The boar pup gave one last cry of pain. Ronin watched as its image blurred and then shattered into shimmering glass-like pieces. Ronin was amazed at what he had just done. "This sword art system is amazing!" he thought. "My arm moved so fast, the only reason I know what happened is because I felt it. I couldn't even see my blade!"

Ronin closed out of the window that popped up showing his drops. "This combat system is great", he thought excitedly. "Alright, time to find myself another opponent". He gazed around the plains and spotted another boar pup that seemed to be alone. As he ran towards it, he told himself that he would swing at it and dodge to avoid losing HP, not like he needed to dodge though, the pups did very little damage to Ronin's massive max health points. Unfortunately, this plan did not go the way he planned. The boar saw him and its eyes flashed red. This meant that the monster had directed its attention to attacking whatever its eyes flashed red at, but Ronin was unsure of how to react since it was his first time. Full of doubt, he slowed, not by much, but just enough so that when he swung the monster caught the blade with its head as it charged straight into Ronin's stomach.
