[PP-F02] Echo's In the Dark «Let There Be Light» Neopolitan

Neo did it as the bat as bleeding out on the ground. Sunova could hear the bat giving his last breath as it died. Trying to find Neo in the dark was a bit harder than Sunova was thinking, but there was only one option "Neo I'm Here It should be save, but I don't know yet, so keep your weapon at ready don't like..." she stopped at once as he heard the crying again trying to locate were it came from, But then as the bat behind them was giving out a loud sound and disappeared into pixels another bat swooped down and was ready to attack "Second ENEMY, SECOND BAT, IT LOOKS PISSED.... " She stopped with talking and then "EEEP REAL PISSED"  As Sunova ran a random direction and met up with Neo who was standing there trying to find where the crying was coming from. "GIANT BAT RIGHT BEHIND MEEEEEEE!" She said as she ran behind Neo to make sure she would not get to be hit first by the bat.

As Neo was trying to listen for the crying, she got her result quicker than she thought with Su's squeals.  Turning towards the sound, Neo could hear the flap of the bats wings. She waited until Su had brushed past her before getting ready to attack. SHe let the energy flow through her again as she went for her same old sword art. Though it was repetitive, it worked for now.

I really should learn some new tricks. But this will have to suffice until I can get down and train some more.

Neo managed to barely scrape by the bat, getting its attention off of its initial target and on to her. Hopefully this bat would fare just as poorly as the last one.

I just jinxed myself, didn't I...

The bat was going after Sunova at first but as Neo hit it just barely the bat turns right to Neo and start to charge at her without mercy and as it came closer to Neo it hits her right in the chest moving her back a bit and dealing some damage to Neo. The Bat looked happy about this and flapped around a bit. "Neo Are U hurt," She asked in a panicking voice but that changed fast as she spoke now with a voice of rage in her "Ugh you stupid bat, don't hurt my friends like that you will pay!" She charged at the Bat with her sword art ready to stun it, but out of her rage and of how dark it was in the cave Sunova mist her attack completely as the bat flew up a bit to dodge it. It did not care for Sunova as its focus was on Neo who dealt the first hit.

Neo reeled from the hit, and shook her head clear.

At least it doesn't seem to hit that hard, probably helps that I've got some bonuses.

Neo watched as her health bar began to creep back up, glad that she had invested in a passive healing skill. She quickly tried to lash back out at the bat, but ended up missing by quite a bit. Not wanting to be caught off guard this time, Neo quickly took up a defensive stance in preparation for the bat. Where it would come from next though Neo didn't have the slightest clue.

Night vision would be useful, though if it takes up spots for training I'm not sure if I'd be willing to maintain it. It seems to be a very conditional thing to have and I think I can get the accuracy to offset it. Let's just hope I'm right and I'm getting something from my ring.

As the bat swooped by to hit Neo once more, Charging with it full body to try and Hit Neo. Out of nowhere, the ground shacked a bit and because of this, a small rock fell on the Bats head stopping in his attack. Sunova saw this as a good way to run up to Neo and support her.  "Neo Don't get spooked I'm healing you, Just stand still," She says as she walks over to Neo, She looked at the wound the bat did to Neo and held her hand against it, "Never used the Skill, but It said something about feeling the wound, So maybe.." She said as she could see and feel the wound close up again, Sunova looked at Neo's health bar at the party and saw that is got back to full. "See so, fixed Now get that mean bat, don't want it to hurt the kid that is back there somewhere."

Neo was pleasantly surprised when Su came up and healed her. It was honestly quite nice of her to do so, even though Neo wasn't that low on health yet. Looking around for the bat, Neo realized she couldn't quite find it.

Guess I'll be going for some wild swings then.

Though she wasn't sure she would be able to hit, it was worth a shot. She let the sword art take control as Neo went in for over-swings. The risk paid off, as on the second strike Neo heard the bat squeal in pain amidst the shattering of pixels. She must have slice off a limb, otherwise the bat wouldn't still be squealing. That means it should be close to death by now. It seemed as though these bats were simply put here as a distraction by the developers, or perhaps just a basic obstacle to make the quest actually have some difficulty.

The bat was on the ground not moving at all, screaming in pain Sunova could not take it and moved to the bat slowly. Sunova got her attack ready and slashed the bat two times on the chest, a big wound opened and red pixels came out. "Oops, More bleed effect, Sorry not Sorry. That's what you get by hitting Neo and trying to scare me,"  she said with a very serious look and tone it almost looked that Sunova had no mercy for the beast anymore.  "Neo the bat will be bleeding to death in a few moments. so let's and this with some easy hits," She said looking at Neo with a happy smile on her face. Sunova was okay with the fight being over soon and would want to find the girl crying soon, I felt good to do at least something in combat other than just standing on the side and do nothing Sunova thought.

Su wanted some easy hits to be had, and Neo could hear the bat's squeals. She decided that these hits would be easy. Neo located the bat from its cries and let her sword art take care of the rest, She stroke one slash across its wing, slicing it off. And before Neo could even get to the second strike, the bat shattered into pixels. Sending the second strike into thin air, Neo spun around and checked to make sure there wasn't anything to loot off of it. Sadly, the bat had an empty inventory. with the squeals of the bat finally died down, Neo could hear the soft crying of the child once more. She tried ot focus on it, hoping that there weren't more bats hiding in wait.

Let's find you and get you home to your mother, than I think I'll go try and get stronger. It wasn't easy to take these bats on between the two of us, though that last one had some luck thrown into it.

Once Neo killed the Bat Sunova knew it was not over yet, maybe another bat came down or maybe a bigger monster, Sunova looked around into the air in the hope to not find another enemy. From what Sunova could hear and see she knew that there weren't any more monsters lurking around. Sunova heard the crying again and as she focuses on the crying she took Neo's hand to the sound. walking closer and closer to the sound Sunova spotted a small child. "Neo look there is she, the child," She said with a smile still holding Neo's hand. Sunova moved closer to the child and went down to her knees. "Hiye there, I'm Sunova and this is my best friend Neo, we are here to get you out of this place," Sunova said as she reached out her hand for the child to grab.

The child grabbed the hand of Sunova and Sunova seemed to smile a bit like some proud mom. The child looked at Neo and them back to Sunova as the child also grabbed Neo's hand and Sunova's hand at both times standing between them. "You are save with us, Miss Little Adventurer, We will protect you at all cost," Sunova said with a smile looking at the child.

As Su took Neo to the sound of the child's voice , Neo was glad to see that the child was okay. She quickly gave her smile as Su greeted her. There was no need to be frightening, the girl was probably frightened enough by the bats flying about. Keeping an eye out for more bats, Neo walked with Su to the cave's exit.

Thankfully, we managed to remember the path out. Hopefully the mother doesn't mind her girl being afraid of bats. She doesn't seem to be troubled right now, but odds are she'll grow up to fear the bats on this floor. Who knows, I'd love to be wrong. In the end I guess it is up to the game to decide whether or not it wants to prove me wrong.

Neo kept a smile the whole way, not wanting to show the little girl a reason to be scared of the two of them.

Sunova and Neo walked over the bridge they walked over before, the child was still holding both Neo and Sunova's hand and didn't look even a bit scared from the higher. "You came all this way your self Miss Little Adventurer? that must have been a great task for you," Sunova said as she looked to the child she nobbed at Sunova. Sunova seemed happy that the child was now having fun again. "Hey, Miss Little Adventurer, you know, you let me think of my younger self, always trying to find new adventures and new quest to help people in need, " Sunova said and looked at the child between Neo and Herself. "Adventures are great aren't they, I think you would become a great Adventurer yourself, but promise me not to go alone again okay," Sunova said to the child, as it nobbed to Sunova's promised. "Pr... Promised Miss Sunova, Promised Miss Neo," the child said and looked up at both Neo and Sunova. It almost looked like she was admiring her two saviors and loved them for it.

As the two escorted the child back, Neo smiled. Not only to get rid of fear but because she was happy. Sure this was all a virtualized game where it didn't really matter what they did with the child. But Neo still felt good for doing the task. There wasn't much for her to do now that the search was over. Neo let Su talk to the little girl and make sure that she wouldn't wander off anymore. It was hard not to see the NPC as a real person. And if Neo didn't know any better, she'd say she was a player. The game liked to play tricks on them, but this time Neo was content to play along. This time, it brought Neo joy to be able to see a beaming young child. She could find a time to be disgusted with the game's creator later. For now it was just her, Su, and the little girl they had saved.

upon reaching the Village Gate, the child seemed to smile even more, "Now to find your mother she must be worried, She was even worried we got hurt, so your mother must be really proud on how you handled yourself, How cool you are Miss Little Adventurer," Sunova said patting the girl on the head, It felt all so real and Sunova did not know how to react to this than other to be herself and not see this child as an NPC. Once they came to the market the mother of the child walked up with tears in her eyes and the child ran up to her hugging her mother. Sunova did not know how but out of nowhere she began to cry a little bit, It was so sad and proud to see that the child was saved and how it ended to be a happy ending. The mother turned to both Neo and Sunova, "Aw child, I must thank you, you must have been a bit scared in that dark cave, Here This is the best I can do even my words are not enough to thank you so please take this," The mother said and gave Sunova a bag with some Col in it.

Sunova was still a bit crying as the child walked up and hugged Neo, "Thanks Miss Neo, Make sure Miss Sunova is happy again," She said looking up to Neo and then the child walked over to Sunova as Sunova kneeled before the child hugging it, "Miss Sunova, Make sure you keep me a promise and come and find me again, maybe play with me sometime," The child said as she hugged Sunova. Sunova nobbed and stood back up still some tears in Sunova's eyes. This was it, the quest was done and Sunova looked at Neo with a small smile on her face.

With the quest done, Neo was glad that the two of them could be of some assistance. It wasn't every quest that you got to actually see the impact that you made on this world. Of course, it would probably reset for the next player who came for the quest if it wasn't already going simultaneously in another cave while the two of them were doing it.

I guess that's why she has multiple kids. they can all get lost and have multiple players go out and find them. It's clever design, really. The ability to keep up the illusion that we are helping and the problem is solved while in reality we don't know how many kids could be lost. They probably despawn down to a reasonable amount once nobody is looking. I bet someone has still had the benefit of their illusion getting shattered though.

Neo looked towards Sunova and nodded, their work here was done. It was time for them to part ways, for now at any rate. They would inevitably meet up again at some point and Neo was hoping that they could show each other how much stronger they have become.
