Tsuisuta 0 Posted September 11, 2018 Author #81 Share Posted September 11, 2018 Rithe was improving, and it as showing on how fast the two of them were able to take on these boar pups. Sure they weren't really supposed to be tough enemies, in fact they were supposed to be easier than the beginner level enemies. It didn't matter though, they were still make slow and steady progress. With a quick check of the latest kill's surroundings, Awateru found no tusk for them to finish off the quest. There was only a need for one more. One more tusk and than the two of them could be done with this quest. "No tusk over here. Look's like we're still going to kill a few more." As she said it, she noticed another boar pup not too far from where they were now. She snuck up on it as best as she could, not wanting to give her position away. As she closed in on it though, it quickly turned and looked up at her. The wind! Apparently this game was detailed enough to give her away if she was upwind. Not wanting to waste the attack, she quickly threw a punch at the boar. It wasn't much, but it did connect and drain its health bar a ways. Rithe 0 Posted September 13, 2018 #82 Share Posted September 13, 2018 (edited) Rithe had lined up the shot perfectly, the foolish boar was completely blindsided by the kick delivered to its hindquarters. The punt, having good form, would have sent the beast sailing, if not for the fact that it perished upon impact with her foot. She scrambles back up the hill, looking for a tusk alongside her ally. "No luck? Nothing over here either." Rithe sighs. Hopefully this doesn't start another string of remarkably terrible luck. Wait! No! Don't jinx it! She shakes her head profusely and follows after Tsuisuta, who seems to have found another target. The wind? It could smell us?! Rithe would have been impressed with the software required to pull that off, if she wasn't disctracted by her companion cracking her knuckles across the monster's snout, stopping it cold. One good hit... Rithe slips past Tsuisuta moments after the first hit, readying an attack of her own. Tsuisuta 0 Posted September 13, 2018 Author #83 Share Posted September 13, 2018 Stepping back, Awateru left an opening for Rithe to get her own attack in. The boar had little time to recover before it was punched back. Once Rithe had attacked, Awateru had made her way around and quickly finished off the boar with one more punch. We're getting good at this. Looking around, there was no tusk to be found this time. It seemed their luck had worn off. Still, it had been worth three more tusks found back to back. Perhaps the next time one of them collapsed they would find their luck reset once more and the two of them would be able to get the last tusk they needed. Or they could just keep punching boar pups to death. She would have to wait and see though. "Let's find a few more. The Town of Beginnings is still a ways out. We should be able to defeat 3 or 4 more on our way back if we need to. More if they're denser than we think they are." Rithe 0 Posted September 13, 2018 #84 Share Posted September 13, 2018 (edited) Her kick connected, but it didn't do enough damage to kill the boar outright. It's all yours Tsuisuta! And with a swift jab, it was rendered to floating crystals. Rithe was excited, their luck was fairly decent so far, and she had gotten her hopes up. Are we done? Is this it? I've spent far too long on this dumb quest. Unfortunately for the both of them, there was no tusk to be found. Are you serious!?! We're so close! She frowns, turning to Tsuisuta with a disappointed look. "We have a strategy down, so hopefully we can get another tusk before midnight." She sighs, "Hopefully." She was steadily losing her optimism as the evening wore on. Another beast wandered haplessly into Rithe's field of vision, entirely unaware of the perpetual massacre that had been taking place. She clenches her fists and takes the lead on the attack. The boar turns lazily towards her and lets out a surprised squeal when it took Rithe's boot to the side of its head, causing it to tumble a short distance, before shaking itself off. Tsuisuta 0 Posted September 16, 2018 Author #85 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Though the tusks had dried up once more, there was still hope that they could find one before they got back to the Town of Beginnings. It was still a little ways out, and there was likely to be more boars about for them to kill. Shortly after the latest one was taken down, she heard another squeal. Rithe must've already hit the next target. She tried looking around for either, but they seemed to be obscured by the hills around her. She ended up taking more time than anticipated to find where the two were fighting, and the boar was already getting ready to attack Rithe again. Awateru stood behind Rithe, hoping to catch the boar if it ended up behind Rithe. It was a bit of a desperate strategy, but she felt it just might work. "Try to let it get past you Rithe, I'm right behind you ready to strike at it again!" Rithe 0 Posted September 17, 2018 #86 Share Posted September 17, 2018 (edited) She almost stumbled, losing her balance after her kick. I'm going to have to fix that. She stabilizes herself in time to notice the boar rushing back towards her. It's amazing how dedicated these creatures are. It's almost as if they have no idea that they can't win the fight. Rithe looks around for her companion, narrowly dodging the rampaging animal in the process. Where is she? She turns back to her enemy too late, as it bowls her over, sending her rolling down a steep hill. No damage... good. Brushing herself off, Rithe notices the beast sliding down the hill after her. What is with this floor? Where did all these hills come from? Rithe prepares another attack, as she hears her ally behind her, calling out a strategy. Momentum carries her through the action, too late to cancel the movement. How did she get there? Rithe misses the kick spectacularly, and falls to the side, causing the rushing boar to continue with its momentum towards Tsuisuta. "I'm assuming this wasn't what you had in mind." She calls out breathlessly, the fall had knocked the wind out of her. Tsuisuta 0 Posted September 17, 2018 Author #87 Share Posted September 17, 2018 There wasn't much time to react, but Awateru did her best with what her ally gave her. The boar was coming towards her a little off center and she was able to rush in and punch it. The diving punch was enough to break the pup into pixels like all the others before it. She looked around, rubbing her hand from the impact she made into the ground. There it was, the last tusk that they needed. "I found the last one we need Rithe," she said, calling them over. "Looks like we can finally make our way back towards the starting town." The quest was complete, or at least this one was. With the pacing that the two of them seemed to have, Awateru realized that it might be best if she went her own way for a time. Perhaps she could find some extra power before making her way further in this game. She would certainly need it if she was going to make any sort of headlines to show up to her sisters. Rithe 0 Posted September 17, 2018 #88 Share Posted September 17, 2018 Rolling to her feet, Rithe runs after the boar to provide assistance with defeating it if necessary. But a crushing fist from Tsuisuta later, and the boar was shattered. But a tusk! Did we get another? And there it was. Rithe was at a loss for emotions, trying to process the fact that they were finally finished. "..we.. did it...?" A grin spreads across her face. "We did it! We're done! Haha~" She smiles at Tsuisuta, nodding to her offer about heading back to town. "It only took us all day. Literally." She says, laughing at the night sky. She calms herself down, and checks the quest status in her menu. Sure enough, all quest objectives were completed... They only had to return to Lyle Tealeaf, the NPC blacksmith. Rithe takes the lead, eager to be finally completed with the arduous task. The travel back to the Starting City was relatively peaceful, allowing her to bask in the beauty of the night sky. How relaxing. I wish I could just lay out here and stare at the stars, but there are quests to be done. She looks over her shoulder at Tsuisuta who seems less enthusiastic at the idea of more questing. "Listen, it's okay if you want to take a break from questing." She sighs as they approach the blacksmith. "I might actually do that. I'm exhausted." She finishes the quest, and turns away from the blacksmith before he can issue the next quest. "It was nice fighting along side you. Hopefully I will see you again." Rithe leaves the area, looking back over her shoulder and smiling at her friend as she departs.
