About: History

Takuya’s life had honestly been one that most would call normal, for at least most of it. At least, as normal as a member of the Tokyo bomb squad can have. Now, one would think this job easy in the modern era. Simply remote control a robot to do it for you, right? Well, not everything was that easy. See, bombs have this really nasty habit of not being fully understood, and all it can take is one fatal mistake.

Thankfully, the mistake wasn’t fatal, not for Takuya. But it certainly was life changing. And the robot didn’t fare so well, either. All things considered, it was a small explosion in a corporate building, most likely targeted at one or a small group of individuals. Takuya later learned that there was a remote detonated failsafe hidden inside the false bomb casing that he had thought was diffused. Too little, too late.

Since then, Takuya has been honorably retired from the force, and spends his days playing MMOs. A way to live an interesting new life, one without scars or strange looks from people he has never met. Nobody asks him what war he served in, just what his gear score is.

Needless to say, when SAO was announced, Takuya was all over it. A way to live a realistic second life with actual hunan interaction and senses, but without the scars? He was all in.

Unfortunately, this dream didn’t last, as Kayaba trapped everyone in the game. He was fighting for his life like he was on the bomb squad all over again. And to add insult to injury, his scars followed him. So much for that second life.
