Macradon had been through quite a lot, and it was finally time to do something about all this hectic daily life. He’d been missing his monster hunting days, his field boss rotation. It had been a long time since he last went on a quest to defeat a single boss monster, all this time he used was at raids or in his shop. It was finally time to get some free time of his own of honing his skills. He had heard of this line of monsters, dragons to be specific, that could be defeated one after the other, finally ending in a climax battle at the end against a dragon figure. If these rumors were true, Macradon would venture out with his Cerberus and begin his adventure of slaying dragons, the templar had taken the path of the monster hunter, these few first were going to be his warmup. Macradon 0 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #2 Share Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) Belphegor and Macradon walked side by side, strolling out of the Town of Beginnings, Macradon, Vanguard Commander of the KoB, second highest leveled player in the game tied with a few others. Walking in his red and white armor, clad from top to bottom in his plate harness. As the two exited the city gates, they ventured towards the forest where the wymling were to spawn alone in a lonely nest. Along the way, Macradon would look for materials for him to craft some more in his shop. The more he had, the more service he could provide low leveled players and their needs for equipment to survive and thrive. He could just buy the materials, but gathering them himself usually was cheaper, but it took a lot of time and could get tedious very quickly. Turning over rocks, pushing twigs, branches and bushes aside, Macradon would try to find some high quality materials he could use, and he did indeed find a good bunch of them. Macradon 0 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) Macradon would continue to look for materials, he knew the fight would be short, so he would make the day as worthwhile as he could, gathering materials was probably the best he could at this place, since his level was so high, he wouldn’t get anything from clearing monsters left and right. Even if he did attract the strongest wild monsters possible on the floor, nothing was strong enough to leave loot for him to grab, he was overqualified for this floor, but he had to do something. As he did before, Macradon looked for materials to use in his shop, anything that could be an ore, mineral or anything that could be traded for ores or minerals. With every step he took, his armor shook and would emit a clanging of steel plates hitting each other, as well as the chain he kept clenched with Belphegor at the end of the leash. Macradon 0 Posted October 9, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) So much to do, so much to help he could give to new players, yet he chose to take days off. He should be a civil servant, helping as much as he could. No … he should stay with himself, he needed some free time, time where he got to relax and think about his time here, time where he got to reflect upon his actions from back then till now. A few minutes goes by as Belphegor and Macradon walks through the forest, looking for materials while circling around the area where the wyrmling was to spawn, trying to see if they could spot it and engage, but whenever they would approach the nest, nothing would’ve spawned, not even the egg or egg shells were present, so it wasn’t because someone else had come to take the kill and leave. He would ponder for a long time before just thinking “I’ll just take a rest and take a look near the nest” as he sat down, leaning up a tree. Macradon 0 Posted October 11, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted October 11, 2018 (edited) After sitting there, up against the tree, for a long while, Macradon began to question the information he had been given about this dragon hunt, maybe the coordinates changed, maybe it was just an extremely rare spawn rate. He had Belphegor’s heads laying on his legs as the two would sit in bliss from the havoc that happened everywhere, relaxing in the sounds of his cerberus napping soundly with the sound of leaves, branches and trees blowing in the wind, he could nearly fall asleep here and ignore his original goal for this adventure, but it was fine, he was fine, he was happy. He would close his eyes and lean more backwards, getting into a more relaxed position, taking a well deserved nap through all the hardship he had been through up to this point. “If only I could enjoy this peace with them, just this once, just once more” he mumbled. Macradon 0 Posted October 19, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted October 19, 2018 (edited) The thoughts of his old friends, gathered together in a blissful day like this, away from the battles of the frontlines, the drama of the players and the turmoil of death. If he could just stay home and do nothing, live a peaceful life in his shop with Belphegor, Kairi and Karona, away from the hardship of the frontlines, away from the pressure of leading a party or maybe a leader of the raid itself. He would take in a deep breath and exhale just as deeply, leaning even more towards the tree behind him as well as patting Belphegor as he laid down. “If we could just stay like this forever” he mumbled and closed his eyes. He was getting close to falling asleep but he had to stay up and try to spot the spawning of the egg, but his eyelids got heavier and heavier, it was getting difficult to stay awake. Macradon 0 Posted November 22, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted November 22, 2018 (edited) He thought to himself “It's probably time to get up now, I can’t fall asleep and miss the respawn”. He would slowly try to wake up from this drowsiness, but it was difficult. He would take in a deep breath and get up. Belphegor would be woken up suddenly by Macradon’s rise and would roll over his side by Macradon’s momentum. In confusion, the Cerberus would lay on his back and loot up through the trees upper branches and leaves. Standing up from the damp forest ground, Macradon would stretch and yawn, he had been laying there for too long, and he hadn’t really gotten much out of it. As he stood, now elevated above most small bushes, Macradon spotted a small cluster of some kind of mineral, he wasn't sure of to what it was, but it was something. Thinking of what he could do now to just stall out the wait, Macradon thought of an idea. ID: 109340 LD: 10+5=15, Materials found! Macradon 0 Posted December 11, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) Despite it taking this long for the respawning, Macradon would try to pass up the time as much as he could, walking around, exploring the forest so he knew it all the way. Walking through the rays of light that escaped through the treetops, Macradon would try to pinpoint where the small draconic being would spawn, and how he should be able to kill it. He would try to think of how he should tackle this debacle, going through the notes he had gathered, seeing that the Emerald Hatchling was low in health by default with a mid-low mitigation. Macradon would ponder and think “A Back Rush should be able to take it out with Charge …” while trying to look for obvious spawning places. He waited for a few more minutes, for quite the while, eventually became another hour of walking around and looking for places to launch an attack, and suddenly the sound of a shell cracking would emit from the forest ground. A large egg would open with a small emerald hatchling appeared. Having his back turned towards the small dragon, Macradon unleashed his Back Rush sword art. ID: 110340 BD: 6+2=8, Hit! CD: 4, No Proc! Macradon 0 Posted December 11, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) His calculations were off, something didn’t add up, his damage was lower than expected. He would click his tongue from his incompetence. The event of the frontlines and the event really hit him hard. It was difficult for him, to comprehend his situation right now after the disaster that was the frontlines, and the trigger of the event battle. His rage would grow, consume him slowly, but at the current moment, he was capable of extinguishing this slowly rot from the inside for now and would hit up a three hit sword art and take out the small dragon. It was quick, and little to no loot. It was enough for him, so he wouldn’t have much against it. With this out of the way, he would just think of what to spend the rest of the day on. It would be a waste to use all his pent up energy on just relaxing at his house. ID: 110341 BD: 6+2=8, Hit! CD: 3, No Proc! Macradon 0 Posted December 11, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) Choosing to use his day on something more productive for once, he would head up to the 16th floor to take care of some col and material farming. It was probably the only thing he was capable of at this time, since the dragon quest was a bit more frustrating that he had hoped. As the arrived at the 16th floor, he would leave the main settlement and walk out into the wild fields. After a few minutes of walking with Belphegor, the sound of wild humanoids charging towards Macradon would emit around him as he walked by a stone pass. 4 humanoids emerged, clad in loincloths and wielding large clubs. Macradon would initiate the combat and Charge in, cleaving into 3 of the four humanoids with Belphegor coming in from behind as well. Taking out a lot of the health of the humanoids, Macradon would feel the heavy attack of a two handed club bashing onto him from the side of his head, knocking him to the side with force more potent that he had experienced in a while. Macradon 0 Posted December 11, 2018 Author #11 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) That third humanoid was quite the annoyance. It was more swift than the other, more than capable of evading Macradon’s Area of Effect attack. It was like this was the alpha of this small pack, which was really difficult to handle. The other had been stunned by Macradon’s Bull Rush, but this one was free from that and was capable of retaliating upon Macradon, dealing some good blows at the knight. It was annoying, taking this much damage from so simple monsters like these. Macradon would grit his teeth and go for another attack, taking the enemies lower even further, closing the gap of taking them out for a lucrative income for today, much more lucrative than working in his shop, but this was dangerous for someone who weren’t well versed in the art of fighting one against many without taking too much damage from missteps that can occur when one is focused. Macradon 0 Posted December 11, 2018 Author #12 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) The fight was dragging out too long, and Macradon wanted to get this over with as fast as possible so he could get more money for his future, and for his shop. With what he had in his arsenal, he had to expand and become better at. Fighting in broad daylight, being ambushed and just being one big source of light with his shining armor, Macradon was a disadvantage. He would take in a deep breath and unleash yet another Calamity Disaster, cleaving through the savages with his Blade of the Dictator. With that hit, two of the savages were killed, destroyed from their polygonal shape as their leftover pixels would disperse and shatter. Belphegor helped as well, holding down the victims that were to fall by the blade of Macradon. Taking down the savages, Macradon was left with two to fight, which was perfectly fine, less Energy Consumption for Macradon. Spoiler Attack 1: 19x12=228 Damage to Ravager! Macradon 0 Posted December 11, 2018 Author #13 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) The savagers were slowly withering in numbers, two had already gone of the four, and the fight was getting closer and closer to a climax. With a swift attack, Macradon would go in with another attack, cleaving into the remaining two savages, Macradon would close the gap of his current point to when he would be done farming for today, fighting through this small group of humanoids that assaulted him only dragged out his day further than needed. With a sigh, Macradon would take down a lot of their collective remaining health, and would show his dominance against these lesser beings. He was close, very close to finishing off the battle, only a bit more damage was needed to finish them both off and letting him continue on with his day. Macradon yawned as the fight was getting boring, it wasn’t even exciting to start with, so having it as this was getting tedious. Spoiler Attack 1: Miss. Attack 2: 19x12=228 Damage to Ravager! Macradon 0 Posted December 11, 2018 Author #14 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) So close to victory, so close to being able to head back home with a good handful of materials for his shop, a good handful of random items he needed to be identified. “Alright, Belphegor! We only need two more souls to finish today’s harvest! Let’s do this!” Macradon roared as he would rush in and cleave into the two remaining enemies with Belphegor’s help, destroying one of the savages with his attack as its health bar depleted into nothingness. Macradon would stand up straight again as his armor clang from the sudden movement. Looking down at his armor, Macradon slightly began to detest the look of his armor, it was too shiny, too Knights of the Blood Oath, it wasn’t anything he wanted to associate himself with anymore, he had to take care of this some kind of way, he didn’t want this armor to be a thing anymore, he wanted it gone. Macradon 0 Posted December 11, 2018 Author #15 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) Only the alpha was left behind, his comrades dead. It would be cruel to just let him stay behind alone, and Macradon wasn’t that cruel, he would just kill him with no remorse “Just like the other’s you’ll fall by my blade.”. Not caring that the savage understood him or not, he would at least hope that his own consciousness would. Dagger_Guy, quite the weirdo, Draigo, the honorable duelist, Hector, the big meat head. All dead because of Macradon, be it by watching or doing the deed himself, humans, humanoids and the likes. Macradon would sigh deeply as he would deal the finishing blow to the last standing enemy, the assault on Macradon ended in only Macradon staying, and the assailants disappearing from existence, gone from this world, their code now gone and would be recycled for something else, maybe more like them, or maybe just something less important, they were gone. Macradon 0 Posted January 5, 2019 Author #16 Share Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) Macradon would take in a deep breath as the last savage fell. As the loot screen popped up for all the savages, Macradon would look at the name Raiding Ravager and sigh “I didn’t even realize their name tags were anything” he muttered for himself as he would take all the loot and go away “Guess that’s it for today, eh, Bel?” Macradon asked his familiar with a smile. The two had been through a lot now, and Macradon didn’t even use his chain leash anymore, Belphegor trusted Macradon, and was loyal to him, as he had saved the cerberus from dying below rubble. The two were a good tag team and were doing great, both capable fighters, both great team mates. This journey of solitude wasn’t as lonely as he had anticipated with his small partner with him, it was great being able to do something together with someone you trust. As they walked back towards the main settlement, a cluster of minerals caught Macradon's attention, and would gather the possible materials. ID: 111143 LD: 20+5=25, Material Found! Macradon 0 Posted January 5, 2019 Author #17 Share Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) Just after picking up the cluster, Macradon would notice another material. The day was getting more and more lucrative, time would go by by Macradon now looking for materials, and Belphegor helping him out. Sniffing around the ground, trying to find a smell that would characterise minerals, be it salts or metals, whatever Macradon could use for crafting or trading to get something he could use. This world was weird, everything was a game, but it tried to be immersive, but somehow it doesn’t end up being as immersive as it wanted to. Material gathering for crafting for the different professions, all materials ended up just being classified as “material” and the same material can be used by whomever, it was weird that you could be looking through mines, finding a lot of minerals and metals, and then make a leather coat out of it. This game was weird, no logic. ID: 111144 LD: 12+5=17, Material Found! Macradon 0 Posted January 5, 2019 Author #18 Share Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) Working as a team, the two would be able to cover a lot of ground before they would arrive at the settlement. A lot of walking around, thinking about the world that didn’t make sense, about the world with no logic, the frontlines with even less logic. Macradon would sigh at the thought of the frontlines, they were quite the chaos, and Macradon did not intend to ever return to the frontlines for war, he would stay behind, do his best to train those that wanted to become stronger, those that could not protect themselves, help those that needed it more than the frontlines. He would close his eyes, take in a deep breath and sigh deeply once more. They still had a bit to go before they could return home, but they just needed to make the trip a bit more worth it with this material gathering they could do on their way home. Macradon 0 Posted January 5, 2019 Author #19 Share Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) This game was … quite its own thing. There was so much that could really be designed better, some things could be revised or removed completely, there are so many things that just doesn’t work in this game, and it either should’ve been edited to fit, since one of the selling points of this VR adventure would be immersion, but it didn’t feel immersive. Yes they did implement things like hunger and somewhat a thing to time recognition, but it was still not real enough, it was too gamey, too MMO, doesn’t feel like real life. Pain was gone for obvious reasons, which just makes most people’s reaction to damage placebo, they do get a feedback of some force, but it’s never directly pain. There were a lot of aspect that did help the game become more immersive, but it still wasn’t there, there was still a way to go for that immersion. Macradon 0 Posted January 5, 2019 Author #20 Share Posted January 5, 2019 Finding one last cluster of materials right in front of the gates to the settlement, Macradon would smile and howl to get Belphegor to come to him, the two had been through a long day, and it was probably gonna be longer when he opened up his shop again, this would probably gonna take a while, but at least he would get to help the players in need on those lower floors, but it was a dying business, he had to do something about it. “Hm …” he muttered as he would think of how he could make his shop flourish more than ever, without him going bankrupt after 2-3 requests heading towards him “Maybe raise the Col prices … and perhaps reducing the beginner’s discount, as it seems many more players either have a better start, or get someone to pay for them, so it shouldn’t be the biggest problems for his customers." he thought. Going to the warp plaza, Macradon would go back down to his shop and work on prices as he let Belphegor run around in the garden. ID: 111147 LD: 16+5=21, Material Found!
