"Brave, dead... semantics, really."

General Information:
Username:
Akariah
Real name: Casper Lindquist
Age: 19 (21)
Gender: Male
Height: 5'10"

Appearance:
Casper’s is filthy, unshaven, and has messy, moderately long reddish-brown hair. He has blue eyes and wears a long brown coat that is tattered. He is lithe and has bandages covering his arms. He wears boots with multiple belts around it and a long, grey scarf.

Personality:
He is reserved, not wanting to draw attention to himself and keeps to himself, though can be rather persuasive. He has used his charisma many times to deceive people and slitter away from conflict. He isn’t unwilling to find a companion to be with, though he finds it hard to trust someone, always being cautious. He can also be described as socially anxious to a degree.

Although he is usually dour and isolated, he finds intense joy obtaining interesting trinkets or purchasing books. He loves to read and to gain new knowledge, especially about the world around him while also keeping from the frontlines or into any real trouble.

He is methodical, often finding himself painstakingly counting objects and sometimes cannot help to take things that are of interest to him if he can get away with it. On one occasion, he even counted crossbow bolts as he removed them from his body.

Background:
It was sunny because the universe doesn't care about the grief of men.

A young man clutched onto a mass of charred fur in his arms as he sat in the middle of the snow-covered street, his silent sobbing repeatedly interrupted by the wailing of sirens, dissonant and cold. Running his hands languidly through the orange fur, he couldn’t help but entertain the fact that everything that had happened was caused by him: a mistake stemming from his own carelessness and frustration. His hands quivered as he held onto his beloved pet; the fire continuously raged behind him.

The hospital served as a wake-up call to the tribulations he would have to face. His arms suffered burns that disfigured them and he had to wear bandages to cover them up as he healed. Although the hospital served as a reminder of pain, he already found no solace recovering from his injuries. He couldn’t do the things that he enjoyed doing: reading books, playing his guitar, drawing, writing, and, of course, playing video games. The constant pain served as a constant reminder of what he had done, and once he healed the scars would forever cement his mistake. He laid there on his bed alone, entertained only by the small television and the sight of the treetops dancing in the wind beyond the open window.

Casper doesn’t remember life outside of Japan. His parents moved from Europe to pursue their career at a prominent company in Tokyo and took their youngest son with them. He would often find himself home alone, not necessarily from neglect, but rather as a consequence of unrelenting work. From there, Casper would grow to have a smaller connection with his parents compared to other children, and as he grew older that sentiment stayed. But whatever he lacked from his parents, his cat, with it’s muted orange and wild appearance with its spot-covered coat, more than covered for it. He found him at the side of the road and decided to take him in to keep in company, and soon they grew inseparable. They would spend countless hours together and grow up alongside one another. When Casper would move onto college, he would bring his friend along.

As he had lots of free time outside of his studies, he would find himself occupying his time playing on his computer that he built himself. Casper learned everything online and found working with parts intriguing, opting to pursue an education in it. When the NerveGear was first announced, he was ecstatic. And when it was introduced to him as a new form of therapy and a way to past time during his recovery process, he was more than willing to dive into a world where he wouldn’t be limited by his injuries. Little did he know, he would still be on that hospital bed to this day.

Virtues:
Observant: From keeping out of sight, he has grown accustomed to living on the streets. Casper believes that everything matters, from minute changes in sentiment or body language. He focuses on people to try to ascertain their true motives or nature and often finds this to be extremely useful in communicating with others.

Charismatic: Casper is very charismatic and often uses this to manipulate others into giving him information or things he needs. He is good at connecting with other people although not often for anything else other than personal gain, and he survives by playing his cards right. Although he may not share much about himself, or he may lie about his past, he can often find it easy to gain the trust of others.

Intelligent: Ever since he was a child, he seemed as though he was gifted. His curiosity and dedication to his intrigues kept him on his toes and allowed him to become an accomplished student. He understands multiple languages from studying during his free time and is a quick thinker. He keeps his smarts to himself, however, to avoid drawing attention to himself and to allow others to be dependent on him.

Flaws:
Reserved: As previously stated, Casper tends to keep to himself and always harbours that sense of distrust towards new individuals. He would always have that sense of self-preservation in mind and would anything go wrong he wouldn’t stay to wait for others. Keeping to himself, he doesn’t shy away from confrontation necessarily, but would rather avoid it as much as possible. Casper keeps his cards close to his chest and is cautious of everyone who comes across his path.

Perfectionist: Casper is very keen on things going his way, and will not just dive into a situation without first assessing everything and trying to come up with ways to make everything perfect and work exactly how it should work in his mind. Because of this, he can be very indecisive and hesitate, which can open him up to many negative things. Coupled with being methodical to a fault, it's difficult for him to accept something or do things impulsively or without warning, and he always needs to make sure everything is in order before proceeding.

Blunt: Never a man to sugarcoat things, Casper is often very straight-forward and is not afraid to share his opinions on things. This can lead to conflict because harshness doesn’t matter much for him, and can also lead people in seeing him as cold or even rude. He doesn’t believe he is though and doesn’t actively try to harm others all the time.
