[SP - F03] A dungeon by any other name... <<Escape>>

Recommended Posts

Neo had come to the third floor in hopes of finding some more quest for her to do. Though it was now quite a ways above her level, that didn't mean that there wasn't something worthwhile for her to do here. She could still probably find something of a challenge for herself as well. Wandering about some of the forest, she was investigating the rumors about some bandits that had been hunting the NPC villagers. It didn't sound like it would be anything too bad, at least until she blacked out. Waking up in the dark, Neo looked around in fright of what was possibly to come. She was in some sort of dungeon that smeeled horrific and looked even worse. Thankfully, that meant not even the lock was well maintained, and there was a wooden box nearby, likely containing her gear in it. If only she knew how toi pick a lock, this would be so much easier.

Neo was able to break out of the rope resetraints around her wrists pretty easily. Thankfully, it seemed as though the bandits hadn't done anything to her, at least not yet. Who knew when they would come by next. Making her way to the gate, she could tell that the lock was a bit rusty and wasn't going to work that well. Hopefully that would work in her facor. Scrounging around for a stick or something else that was small, Neo did her best to try and pick the lock with what little skills she knew. Even though this was a game, that didn't mean some decent real life skills wouldn't have come in handy. Sadly, she had no clue how to pick a lock, just some negeral ideas from what she had seen on TV before.

I little bit here, a little bit there. Gah! It doesn't seem to be working. OK, let's try this again, maybe a bit more carefully this time.

Neo continued to try to pick the gate's lock, but to no avail. Not wanting to give up quite yet, she started to look through her inventory to see if there was anything that she coudl actually use. It would've been nice if she had already done the wedding ceremony with Ruben, then maybe she could at least message him to send her something. Their inventories would be shared after all. But that hadn't happened yet, so she was on her own. Messaging someone else to come and get her was also out of the question, it would take to long and who knew where on the floor she was. For all she knew this was where Hestia was planning on putting the orange players, though any dangerous player would probably sweep through the guards without any issue. Now that she thought about it, how were they planning on keeping the players locked away. Anyone would be able to get away without much waiting for anything. In fact, Neo herself could probably escape once she was able to get her TP crystals.

Neo managed to find a couple of smaller sticks that she had inside of her inventory that the bandits had neglected to actually remove. Those were a bit sturdier as well, and she was glad she had randomly picked them up. Of course, she couldn't actually remember where she had gotten those sticks from, probably when she was a really low level and had never cleared them out of her inventory. Once she had a feel for it, she was able to pick the lock and slowly squeak the gate open. It didn't seem like anyone had heard her, so Neo moved over to the wooden box and opened it to see all of her gear. Hopefully she could be out of here quickly, though it seemed that some sort of quest prompt had come up. Deciding it was oging to be a better idea to get the exp, and figuring TP crystals would probably be disabled for the quest, Neo decided it would be best to get out of here manually instead of the easy way.

It didn't take long for Neo to equip everything once again, and it felt good to be out of the tattered rags she had been put in. It was honestly a little bit surprising that they didn't just leave her nude. At the very least, that meant these bandits had a sense of decency, or maybe it was just the developers being kind. Perhaps they weren't all as rotten as Kayaba himself was. Either that or he wasn't able to get his filthy hands on every little detail of the game. Just the parts that would kill you. In the end, it didn't matter. She would find her way out of here without too much trouble and Then do some questing like she had intended to do. This was only the third floor, so there was no way that the mobs would be too tough for her to beat. It would just be a matter of time before she was free. Leaving a few of her more useless items behind, Neo started to make her way down a corridor that seemed like the place to go and start making her way out.

Neo kept making her way down the same corridor, not seeing any other places to turn. If this thing was a long straightaway, it would've been a pain if it got filled with enemies for her to fight. Probably would've just turned into a sea of mobs she wouldn't be able to break through. That was, of course, assuming that there was that many bandits for them to spawn in. It wouldn't be all too surprising, considering this was a game, but it would've been highly unrealistic of them to do so. And realism seemed to be the name of this game. Their would probably be a couple of guards posted at the end of this corridor for Neo to face, but she wasn't too worried still. If she had any luck, she would be able to sneak right past them without anyone even batting an eye. That was at least what she was hoping. If she was noticed, she could be in for a very long walk through this prison.

Finding herself at the end of the hall, Neo was able to quickly make her way past some of the guards that were stationed at the front. They seemed quite oblivious, even though she was sitting in plain sight as she went past them. They were probably drunk or wanting her to escape. There was no way that they would want to make something like this be that easy for her to do. Either way, it was fine by her. She would hopefully just be able to take whoever may be waiting for her at the end. That was how these things worked right? They made it seem really easy than gave her a challenge right as she was about to escape. Not that anything on this floor would really pose a challenge to her. Everything would be quite a ways below her level and she wouldn't be having much trouble dealing with the guards here.

Making her waya further through the dungeon, Neo prepared herself for a fight to come. Nothing seemed to be coming her way though as she tried harder and harder to finnd the exit to this maze of a place. It was strange seeing all these walls. They all seemed so fafmiliar, yet stilll quite different. She hsould've figured some marking system to know where she had already been, but that didn't seem to be her level of intelligence. At the very least, she was able to go around in a predictable pattern. Assuming she wasn't caught in one big loop, she would eventually find her way otu of this dungeon. If there as a loop though, she would probably have to find someone and get the information she needed out of them. That would set off an alarm though, so she was hesitant to do something like that. She just hoped she wasn't caught in a loop.

It felt like these same thoughts had just happened Perhaps this dungeon was having some strange effect on her mind.
