[F09 Blacksmith Shop][Rank 5 Blacksmith] The Skyforge

Recommended Posts

It’s time to get down to business. I finally reached enough skill that I can make Runa’s order. I refreshed the lava in my forge and bent to the task at hand trying to create shields for the first time since my training. Failure after failure, some I was able to salvage, but these first attempts were not going well at all even with my new hammer that was supposed to be amazing at helping me to learn my craft. Finally one of them came out as a fully formed Uncommon Shield. Not good enough to fulfill my order but at least a success for today.

I need to make more shields today. I’ve got to get that order for Runa before I do anything else. I put on my blacksmith’s apron and grabbed my new hammer and headed out to the open air blacksmith forge to begin preparing it for use. I wheeled some lava up from the depths and began working the materials into some shields for the day. A few I barely salvaged, and I got a couple of useless items but I also created some great to sell in the store. But nothing here is good enough quality to fill the order. Ah well, there’s always tomorrow.

As I prepared the forge today, I just grimaced at the heat shimmering around me. I was getting used to it, and the hard work involved, but it still was a chore some days. More shields for Runa, hopefully I can get this order finished soon. As soon as the lava coursed through the forge I began to slam my hammer down into the material to shape them into shields. The first couple of tries just left me with lumps of scrap metal. I tossed them to the side for some other use and continued. The next I managed to salvage and eventually formed into an uncommon shield. The last one though I felt very lucky on and managed to perfectly form the cookie based shield that Runa had ordered. I beamed with pride and hurriedly, before the chocolate chips melted, took it into the store and hung it behind the counter. Sending Runa a quick message that her order was complete I kicked my feet up and relaxed some.

Being an info broker came with its perks. For instance, one with a proper lay of the land might be able to find things that are ordinarily difficult to find, such as a shield of the rare quality which sports two slots of Thorns. You might not think one difficult to find and, surely, they were not particularly difficult to craft for the right blacksmith. But Oz was in a bit of a rush, and simply didn't have the time or patience to wait for something to be made from scratch.

The Skyforge was seemingly a long-defunct hole in the wall on the ninth floor. The smith that ran the forge hadn't been anywhere to be seen in quite some time, but their wares still sat on display for any who would to purchase. How nice of him. If not a little foolish. Still, Oz was unsure if simply taking the item while leaving no recompense would trigger an orange cursor and send a horde of burly guards after him, so he did the right thing and left the appropriate sum of col near the display with a note detailing what was taken.
