Frank 0 Posted January 8, 2019 Author #21 Share Posted January 8, 2019 As delicious as it looked, was as delicious at tasted. From the first bite to the final bite, Frank was sure he was never going to enjoy something this wonderful in awhile. All the while they ate, the old man who went by the name Ol' Pete happily related his own tales of dangerous and exciting fishing exploits. He told stories of his time on the sea, times in underground fishing caverns, and even a story about how he had fished inside a hot spring of all places. His stories were indeed thrilling, but when he asked Frank if he had any stories of his own, Frank had ones which were much more tame in comparison. Still, the old man listened intently, and after the meal was finished, Frank thanked him for the meal and for the stories. As he turned to leave, the old man spoke out. Speaking out he said, Quote "The Ocean boy, she's the greatest thing you'll ever see. A love so vast and so pure, she'll make ye weep for ya home, ya loved ones, and everything between Heaven and Hell. The waves are welcoming ya lad, don't be afraid of them. You can't surely be expecting to run away and never deal with ya problems can ye? No, the problems which plague you, plague all of man and mer-alike must be met head-on and without fear. It's to do this, which is what the wonderful Ocean teaches us. She'll challenge ye, push you til you're stark ravin' mad, til ya are down on your knees not admirin it's beauty, but in total fear of its dangers. It's at that point boy, it's at that point ya find out if ya are a man, or a mouse. If ya be a mouse, then you'll lay on that deck, a'cowerin in fear, but if ya be a man, a true, salt-of-the-earth, take-on-all-challengers type of a man, then it's the Ocean who will show you who ya really be in that moment, and it's the Ocean who ya will rise up against. Now come boy, lemme show you the grandest sight you ever will see." Leading him near the front, Frank saw a picture on the wall, strange he hadn't seen it when he first entered. It was a painting of the old man out by the sea, as Frank observed it, the old mans eyes sparkled. Perhaps one day Frank too would see the ocean and partake in its struggles and its beauty. But for now, he headed back to the Town of Beginnings, ready for grander adventures and a good nights sleep in the inn.
