Neopolitan 0 Posted August 5, 2019 #361 Share Posted August 5, 2019 The group was mostly frozen, and Neo was watching her health bar fluctuate as she slowly got herself back up from being frozen. Seeing that the rest of the group wasn't able to get to one of the Sahagin still, she went with as good of an attack as she felt like she could still hit in her weakened state. It wasn't much damage, but with the water causing some friendly fire, she was pretty sure it would be enough. With the Sahagin down, they would hopefully be able to turn to and get the segment itself now. The cycle of this war of attrition was beginning to develop. And without the rain to whittle their health down, Neo felt as though they would be able to win this fight. However, it probably wasn't going to be anytime soon that they were able to bag this floor in the group of those being defeated. Leviathan 2 Posted August 5, 2019 Author #362 Share Posted August 5, 2019 Players have 72 hours to post [Deadline is Thursday, August 8th at 3:00 PM PDT] The war of attrition was continuing. The leviathan watched as its forces crumbled before its eyes, but more would come soon. It tried to blast one of the players and managed to knock their health down a little ways while also managing to take off the ice that was encasing them. But while they were still sopping wet, another wave of frost began to creep over the battlefield. There was no rest for the weary, and the Leviathan was ready to settle into a routine until these players were dealt with. They seemed stubborn enough to not run away, but that didn't mean this wasn't going to take some time to actually defeat. Meanwhile, the sea was watching in silence. The waves were calm, the clouds had parted. It seemed both sides had onlookers holding their breath in anticipation of what was to come. Who would come out victorious at the end of the day. Hestia 0 Posted August 5, 2019 #363 Share Posted August 5, 2019 Feeling the icy tundra impact against my shield i wait out the icy storm as my shield is once more just a expensive popsicle for the moment as i quickly activate field medic as a green aura surrounds my hands and then calrex and Are as our healths shoot up by a decent amount as i grin towards myself and nods my head. Okay then health is checked out time to go all out now people if you don't get frozen. Time to strike at the segment and then the leviathan itself! I say with a grin upon my face rather motivated by the relative success that i am having and the group is having a whole. Though i can't help but feel bad for calrex as i can only hope that he doesn't get turned into another frozen statue for the next few turns. 'well bonus. he is at least not running out of energy.' The sound of ice shattering rang out as Calrex was freed once again from the constraints of Frostbite, the massive double-sided axe crashing into the sand as he gave a few deep breaths to help refocus, "Alright, out of that thing again...now for the next thing..." On cue Leviathan unleashed yet another freezing attack to try and hit him, especially after pushing him around with a jetstream that took some of the aggro off of him. Unfortunately, this wasn't the time for him to Howl as he prepared to be frozen again, "Guess I'll need to...wait hold on..." As if on perfect timing he had recalled the one skill he hadn't used in a very long time, "Well better give it a try now, worth a shot!" His form blurred for a moment as he took on the form of one of the players that was recent ousted from the fight. Black armor took over his form as he temporarily assumed the appearance of Zandra, the Grand Legionbane not requiring much to take on the form of her own two-handed battle axe. Seemingly this surprised the creature long enough for him to narrowly avoid the frost particles in the air, rolling to the side as the sand where he was standing became frosted over. Returning back to his original appearance the bluenette gave a small sigh of relief, "Alright at least that worked. Now let's see if I can attack." Attempting to prepare <<Screw Dimension>> Calrex raised his weapon, but felt his virtual muscles struggle to heft up the weapon before it collapsed back onto the sand again, "Geezes I really don't appreciate how many times I've been frozen. Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2019 #365 Share Posted August 5, 2019 And as he should have expected, now that he actually had a chance to hit the segment, he was frozen solid by the boss. At this point he was wondering if Kayaba, no even higher: He was wondering if God was trying to tell him something. Yes he knew he was powerless by himself, and yes it was made abundantly clear how low his damage really was. But for the love of everything, he'd at least like to apply said damage. Itzal mentally swore to himself and prayed that he would be able to land the DoT and paralysis against the Leviathan as soon as he was able to land a hit again. Otherwise he might just lose it. Neopolitan 0 Posted August 5, 2019 #366 Share Posted August 5, 2019 Another wave of frost came over towards them all, and Neo was simply missed by all of it. She thought she might get stuck in the ice once more, but it didn't even come her way. Thanking her turn of luck, she went towards the segment and charged up a sword art. She focused on it as best as she could, dealing whatever little bits of extra damage. It seemed to be working somewhat, but she wasn't sure if it was going to be enough for the rest of them to take it out. It seemed the others were having a hard time actually getting through all the status effects. Hopefully they would have another chance at the boss itself soon. Heavens knew that their small group was going to need that. The longer this fight went, the more chances they would fail. And with how many resources were sunk into this fight, they really didn't want to have to start this fight fresh again. Jomei 0 Posted August 6, 2019 #367 Share Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) “Okay..okay..” Jomei said to himself over and over again, preparing for the next wave of attacks. The group was making slow progress, but because they were all one group now, Hestia was easily able to keep their health nearly maxxed out. With the last of the Sahagin destroyed, it was time to focus their efforts on the segment again.. and eventually the Leviathan himself. Except for the fact that Jomei found himself, once again, caught in the freezing mist of the Leviathan, locking up his body in a sheet of ice. Leviathan 2 Posted August 6, 2019 Author #368 Share Posted August 6, 2019 Players have 72 hours to post [Deadline is Thursday, August 8th at 6:00 PM] The players were struggling to keep up, and were making this fight go longer. This worked in the leviathan's favor. As another crystal detached from the scales of the boss, it knew that if the players were unable to deal with what it could continuously throw at it, they would eventually succumb. There was only so much power they could muster over time, and the sea had no such finite restrictions. As the players would soon run out, the leviathan could just continue its onslaught. There was no telling when they would be able to find another chance to strike at its head. If the monster had the ability to chuckle, it would. But for now, it was content with knowing its victory was coming closer and closer than ever before. But the beach was not quiet. More eyes began to peer through the holes in the wall. Though there wasn't more Sahagin coming from them, it was clear that there was a tension from them as well. They were waiting to see their goddess be triumphant over these paltry humans. Hestia 0 Posted August 6, 2019 #369 Share Posted August 6, 2019 With a smile i take a well deserved breather in my eyes as i just rest for a moment to survey what is actualy happening all around me as i gaze towards the large serpentine beast and sees that we haven't budged it's health yet which means we'll be doing things slower but eventually we'll win the race of outpacing it. It may take time but we'll knock it out people! Cal get Leviathan's attention by howling. Jomei and if need be Neo can handle the crystal. If jomei gets the crystal Neo and Are can attack the segment. I say as i think through the options and knows that if Cal attacked it might not be enough unless he has fighting spirit which i can't remember if he does or not. Since if he misses that means Neo is once more in danger of getting hit. The last attack having been a close save against that. Though an all out attack is still necessary to get progress thus i can only hope that people take the steps that they need for survival and victory. Jomei 0 Posted August 6, 2019 #370 Share Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) The ice around Jomei began to crack, releasing the man from the freezing cold bindings yet again. After shaking some of the excess frost from his ginger hair, he heard Hestia shout out another plan of attack, which included him striking at the healing crystal that had just recently spawned. The ginger nodded and his eyes locked onto the floating entity. Activating his Concentration skill, yellow crosshairs flickered around his pupils before closing together into a cross, meaning his target had been locked onto. One foot after another, the player rushed forward to attack the crystal, his blade pulled back to his chest. Once he was in range, his feet skid to a stop in the sand, and his rapier plunged forward. However, the crystal was much faster than anticipated. The metal of his rapier screeched as it merely scratched against the surface of the crystal, doing nothing but leaving a scuff mark on the entity. "Dammit! Neo, you're up!" Neopolitan 0 Posted August 6, 2019 #371 Share Posted August 6, 2019 Neo heard the shout for her to go for the crystal, and quickly followed up with an attack of her own. Her blade struck true and the crystal was hit square, but she was afraid that it wouldn't be enough damage. Silently cursing to herself for being the weak link, she turned to see if the leviathan was going to be coming for her or not. She prayed that she was not going to be struck by its water jet, but she saw that it had its eyes on her. Her health could hold up for one good hit, that she knew. But whether or not she would be able to take more than that was a different question entirely. With how it seemed to be focusing though, perhaps taking a hit would be a good thing. Hestia would be getting back the energy to heal Neo up once the crystal was down, perhaps just transfer some resources around at the end of the day. To some level the battle was being turned around in their favor. However, it seemed the Leviathan wasn't going to go out without a fight. Another water crystal appeared, with Neo being the one to nearly take down the crystal. However it still remained standing. Since Jomei had tried and missed the strike the bluenette gave a small sigh, "Guess we really need to take this thing down..." Seeing his Quick Change had finally come off of cooldown he charged forward, the massive battleaxe vanishing in lights as it was replaced with his reinforced gauntlets once again, "This boosts my accuracy, so let's see if this lands a hit." Lowering his body his right first became coated in his Sword Art energy, readying All Might as he shot forward. For a moment it looked like he was going to hit as his empowered right hook came within inches of contact. However, at the last moment once again the crystal shifted just enough to escape his strike, the attack breaking through the air next to it, "Okay this is really starting to feel like someone slid the scale up on difficult unnecessarily. Itzal 0 Posted August 7, 2019 #373 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Itzal was forced to remain frozen for yet another moment until he finally was freed from it. Thrusting his blade into the ground to keep from falling over, he glared his eyes furiously at the boss. He saw the water crystal and howe everyone was missing it. That stupid thing was going to cause them to fail if they didn't stop it. The problem was that being frozen so many times was taking it's toll on Itzal. He heard what Hestia had called out, but he wasn't going to be able to comply, since Jomei had missed the crystal. Itzal rushed at the crystal and swung his blade, but he completely missed it. All the water in the air, and especially the light reflecting off of said water from the crystal was making it very hard to aim true. This fight was going on forever. Far too long. This had to be handled with haste. Leviathan 2 Posted August 9, 2019 Author #374 Share Posted August 9, 2019 Players have 72 hours to post [Deadline is Monday, August 12th at Noon PDT] Those that remained were struggling to take out the more slippery of their opponents, and the leviathan used that to its advantage. With the water that had gathered around the crystal, it healed up many of its scratches once more. And once the healing properties of that water were gone, it spurted it at high pressure towards the one with the pink and brown hair. They seemed to be the weakest link, so it would be good for them to be knocked down a peg. More eyes glinted from the holes outside the arena. They wanted to charge back in and help their queen, but they knew they shouldn't do so until called. Too many of them were dying, they needed to make sure that their entrance would be useful. Even if they could all jump out and overrun the few that remained, they didn't want to sustain much worse in losses than they already had. At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Frostbite" (This is not a post action and should be rolled after scald if applicable). If they are hit by a successful attack before the effect ends they take an additional 40 unmitigatable Frost DMG.). A frozen player's base DMG is reduced by 3 for one turn after the freeze effect ends (this is negated if the effect was purified). Hestia 0 Posted August 11, 2019 #375 Share Posted August 11, 2019 I wince as neo takes the hydro jet and takes a rather bad blow alongside it as i quickly rush over towards her as the boiling water impacts my armor first as i just tough it out for the moment allowing the heat from the water to negate the freezing temperatures of its breathe as i quickly heal up neo as i take a passing glance towards the water crystal. Just one hit. I say softly under my breathe knowing that something has to be done about that thing or this fight will for certain be a lost cause if the appropriate damage can't be done towards it. 'Why couldn't i have put more points into support mods like Ruby did that would've been a major help right about now.' I htink to myself rather irretably since having that could've protected a good amount of people if i had used something like barrier to reduce the damage or even sharpen for boosting damage. Oh well. Itzal 0 Posted August 12, 2019 #376 Share Posted August 12, 2019 Itzal was finally thawed out thanks to the attack Scald, but wouldn't you know it he was frozen a second time in a row thanks to yet another frostbite hit. Dagnabit this was the worst day of his life thus far. Itzal watched as everyone continued to attack the Leviathan's segment and water crystal while he was forced to watch helplessly. May God allow his next strike on the Leviathan to apply every DoT and deal his highest damage possible. He just wanted this stupid thing to fall down dead. Yes, Itzal was pissed and he wasn't going to hold back his wrath anymore. If Zandra or Domarus were still here, they'd be able to see his eyes almost burning with an unyielding hatred for the boss... Seeing the Burn effect appear on his status bar he gave a small sigh of relief, as at this point it was the lesser of the two evils. Charging his punch he tried to rush forward again with the aim of taking down the crystal. However, as it shifted rapidly to the side he saw that his punch was not going to connect, his attack stopping early as a result, "This thing is going to be the main pain with this fight, especially since a lot of us are not having any luck with taking it down." Turning to face the segment he gave a calming breath, centering his focus, "If that thing goes down we'll need to really focus down that segment as quick as possible to make the creature vulnerable. At lest at that point I should be able to charge the main body again and hopefully lock it down with a charged attack." Glancing around he surveyed the battlefield as he allowed himself to try and take in what was happening, "We're still not in the best situation, and things still have the chance of changing for the worse. At the least it seems the boss has presented everything that it has in terms of attacks." Neopolitan 0 Posted August 12, 2019 #378 Share Posted August 12, 2019 Everyone wads struggling to land a hit against the water crystal so Neo went in with everything that she could against it. There wasn't much hope, but she watched as the assist system carried her strike true towards the target she had. As soon as she had struck it, she covered herself in fear of some form of retaliation. At the very least, she felt certain that it was going to be enough damage dealt towards it. She just hoped that it wasn't too little too late. It had managed to heal the boss once, and redirect a lot of their fire already. Hopefully they would be able to get the damage they needed to finish off the boss. It was back up in the yellow, but it didn't seem like it was by much. They still stood a chance, however slim that chance was going to be in the future. Jomei 0 Posted August 12, 2019 #379 Share Posted August 12, 2019 (edited) "Dammit", Jomei cursed to himself under his breath as he saw another round of attacks went by without taking out the Water Crystal. Despite being so close to finish this fight, luck was just not on their side with either landing attacks or dodging this paralyzing frostbite. Just as Jomei was thinking on it, his shoulder was smacked with another stream of hot water, which quickly cooled down at frostbite took over. The sheet of ice slowly covered his body until, once again, he was frozen in place. The man's eyes being the only thing he could move, he watched in horror as the monster began to circle around the players, intimidating them with every move. Leviathan 2 Posted August 12, 2019 Author #380 Share Posted August 12, 2019 Players have 72 hours to post [Deadline is 4:45 PM PDT on Thursday, August 15th] These players were being resilient, the monster gave them that much. But they were slowly going to lose. There was no doubt about it. If one more left, it would likely be their entire undoing. It would cause the rest of them to crumble. Well, if the right one was taken out of the fight. For the moment, the leviathan circled the party, the arena they were trapped in constantly coiling, pulsating with the pounding of the waves. There was no telling when it would strike next, but it was clear it was waiting its chance to strike. Knowing full well that the number of players was dwindling, the leviathan needed to try and shrink the space available to them. But that would leave it open to more attacks on its sides that were already scratched to pieces. A risk with a great reward. If the players couldn't move, it wold allow it to attack with impunity. Perhaps they would even get in each others way. For now though, it circled in patience. Last Round's Results: Spoiler Neo kills water crystal Boss Actions: Spoiler Hydro Jet against Jomei (non-zero hate tie to the latest attacker): ID: #121479 MD: 8 - 6 = 2 miss Boss Stats: Spoiler Room Effect: Torrential Rain A terrible storm rages on the seas, growing worse by the minute. At the start of each of Leviathan's turns, players are progressively hindered. Those with the <<Survival>> skill active take reduced penalties (noted in brackets). ACC and EVA reductions only last for the rotation they were applied: Rotation 1: 50 mitigatable DMG [25 mitigatable DMG] Rotation 2: 100 mitigatable DMG [50 mitigatable DMG] Rotation 3: 150 mitigatable DMG and reduces EVA by 1 for a turn [75 mitigatable DMG] Rotation 4: 200 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 1 for a turn [125 mitigatable DMG and reduces EVA by 1 for a turn] Rotation 5+: 250 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 2 for a turn [175 mitigatable DMG and reduces ACC and EVA by 1 for a turn] <<Leviathan>> (Targetable for 0 turn(s)) [ ] [ ] [ ] 0 MIT | 0 ACC | -2 EVA | 14 PD Takes double damage from all sources excluding Burn damage. Leviathan is out of reach and unable to be targeted except for howl, focused howl, and other abilities that only generate hate until one of her Segments are downed. Passive: Queen's Ire Applies to a player when they deal damage to Leviathan. Reduces all sources of health and energy restoration by half (rounded down, to a minimum of 0). Destroying a Segment immediately removes Queen's Ire from its assigned party. Ability 1: Hydro Jet [Uses every turn] An attack that pierces through the toughest of hides, the sturdiest of ships, and densest of armor. Leviathan rears back and launches a jet of concentrated water at the player with the highest hate. Deals 500 DMG and reduces the hate of that player against Leviathan by 3. On a non-critical hit, a player may choose to expend 5 energy at the start of their turn to ignore this hate reduction. Ability 2: Frostbite (1/2 CD) [2 Turn CD] Leviathan breathes deeply, unleashing a wave of extreme frost over the area that coats players and solidifies into ice (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt, stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Frostbite" (This is not a post action and should be rolled after scald if applicable). On a LD 1-14, they suffer from the Freeze condition until the start of their next turn (Removes their action on the current turn and removes all EVA properties. If they are hit by a successful attack before the effect ends they take an additional 40 unmitigatable Frost DMG.). A frozen player's base DMG is reduced by 3 for one turn after the freeze effect ends (this is negated if the effect was purified). The following allow bonuses to this LD roll or ignore the effect: +3 for having the <<Survival>> skill active. +2 for having the Flame Aura, Flame Thorns, or Burn enhancements equipped. (Can only apply once per roll, burn effects granted from consumables do not apply) +1 for every 2 EVA the player has. Having the Antifreeze makes the player automatically succeed the check. Suffering from the Burn effect from Scald makes the player automatically succeed the check. Additional notes: This will proc anti-oxidants and antidotes before the roll. If a player neglects to roll for this effect, the boss will make the roll at a -5 penalty (and will apply retroactively). And though it is stated earlier, once again, this does not cost a post action. I will know you aren't reading these abilities if you ask me if it takes a post action. You cannot quick change to gain immunity either, as it takes place at the start of your turn. Ability 3: Scald (2/3 CD) [3 Turn CD] (starts on cooldown) A sphere of heated volcanic ocean water is lobbed and splashes against all players in the party. Deals 100 unmitigatable DMG to the player with the highest hate, 50 unmitigatable DMG to the player with the second highest hate, and 25 unmitigatable DMG to all others (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt, stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Scald" (This is not a post action, and should be rolled before frostbite if applicable). On a LD 15+, their base DMG is reduced by 1 for one round. On a LD 1-14, they suffer from Burn, taking 40 unmitigatable Fire DMG at the beginning of their turn for two turns (This is affected by the snowfrost effect). The following allow bonuses to this LD roll or ignore the effect: +3 for having the <<Survival>> skill active. +2 for having the Frost Aura, Frost Thorns, or Freeze enhancements equipped. (Can only apply once per roll, freeze effects granted from consumables do not apply) +1 for every 2 EVA the player has. Having the Fireproof enhancement makes the player automatically succeed the check. Suffering from the Freeze effect from Frostbite makes the player automatically succeed the check. Ability 4: Tsunami [Acitvates once when Leviathan reaches 20% or lower Health] Leviathan, all Segments, Water Crystals, and any remaining Sahagin retreat. Torrential Rain is disabled, and remains inactive for the remainder of the fight. Leviathan takes no action for two turns. On the third rotation, the Tsunami strikes, dealing each player 50% of their current HP in unmitigatable damage (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). <<Segment>> [ ] 50 MIT | 2 EVA AoE attacks cannot include more than one segment. Though they die and respawn, Segments cannot be affected by Charge more than once, and effects like debuffs will continue to affect a downed/respawned Segment. One segment is assigned to each party. When a Segment is destroyed, Leviathan lurches forward and becomes targetable for 1 turn for all parties (stacks with other segments being destroyed). The destroyed Segment immediately respawns with a set of Sahagin adds. These Sahagin only target players in the party that they are assigned to and can only be targeted by players that they are assigned to. A respawned Segment has the <<Diamond Dust>> buff until all paired adds are killed. Ability 1: Diamond Dust - Leviathan’s scales shimmer like diamonds.
