Neopolitan 0 Posted September 6, 2019 #421 Share Posted September 6, 2019 They were going to be able to take this down, hopefully. Neo just wanted to finally be done with this fight. It was still anyone's game right now. But the proper timing for their attacks and they could close out this fight entirely. It was still going to take a few hits to finish off the boss, but they should be able to do so soon enough. But to hit the boss, they needed to take out this segment. Neo went after it with her strongest sword art, but it was barely any damage. She seemed to be keeping up with the other players here, which was surprising, but only barely. Her sword clinked against the scales of the beast, and she could tell the health bar went down a bit more. It probably wasn't going to be enough to take the beast's part down, but hopefully they could do something to it and make their way forward even more so than last time. Leviathan 2 Posted September 7, 2019 Author #422 Share Posted September 7, 2019 Players have 48 hours to post [Deadline is Monday, September 9th at 3:00 PM PDT] OOC Announcements: Spoiler pay attention to the deadline. That's literally the entire reason this spoiler exists. No one should be caught off guard by the two day deadline. The players were about to shatter the segment, and the leviathan was not wanting that to happen. As a knee-jerk reaction, they quickly sprayed a wave of frost over the battlefield. It was a little too early, they would still be able to get their attacks off against him at full force. Perhaps if she had been more cautious, this wouldn't have happened. Roaring at their own mistake, the leviathan waited to see what would happen. The sea was also waiting and watching. It was flowing back in once more, seeming to release a breath it had been holding for some time now. Perhaps it felt the players would win and a scourge was rid of from this land. Or maybe it knew that the leviathan had sealed their fate and was cheering her on with the lapping of its waves. One could never truly tell, as the sea was more fickle than luck herself. Last Round's Results: Spoiler Nothing significant Boss Actions: Spoiler Hydro Jet against Calrex: (link is now broken, sorry) ID: #123465 MD: 2 - 3 = -1 miss Frostbite: Everyone rolls Boss Stats: Spoiler Room Effect: Torrential Rain A terrible storm rages on the seas, growing worse by the minute. At the start of the players' next turn, they must roll with the purpose "Scald" (This is not a post action, and should be rolled before frostbite if applicable). On a LD 15+, their base DMG is reduced by 1 for one round. On a LD 1-14, they suffer from Burn, taking 40 unmitigatable Fire DMG at the beginning of their turn for two turns (This is affected by the snowfrost effect). Torrential Rain is disabled, and remains inactive for the remainder of the fight. Leviathan takes no action for two turns. Itzal 0 Posted September 8, 2019 #423 Share Posted September 8, 2019 Well. Looks like he was going to be one hundred percent useless again. He hated being immobilized. He'd rather face every boss in Aincrad in a row than be frozen, paralyzed or stunned one more time. For the love of the world he needed to make sure he was bringing with him, a freeze immune item, and a paralyze immune item. Every time. No matter what. Cause this s**t was getting out of hand. The freaking evasive non moving crystal was better than this creature's constant freezing. This was worse than Asterios. All this made him want to do was hit the boss even harder than before. He was gonna get payback one way or another... Hestia 0 Posted September 8, 2019 #424 Share Posted September 8, 2019 Gazing towards the leviathan i watch as it rears its head backwards as i just nod my head and raise my shield following the same procedures as i have the last few rounds thinking it would work within my favor. My armor having been dried mainly of the condensation of the liquid when compared to other rounds, but fate seems to decided differently as i feel whatever little water remained having frozen my gear solid and the water around my feet as i am just stuck there unable to move and unable to activate any skills or abilities. Welp at least it was only myself this would be horrible if this was calrex again. I say softly to myself out loud as i just chuckle and then pause as i glance towards the azure knight in question. As Calrex was preparing to switch to Martial Arts suddenly he glanced to see a single frosted snowflake touch his armor, "Oh crud..." Almost immediately the Grand Chariot III became frosted over with a layer of ice, a single screech of metal on metal as the bluenette tried to move before it happened, but the vain attempt was met with failure as the Frostbite skill took effect on him again. Frozen solid a single fogged breath escaped his helm as he gave a small sigh, "First the health crystal, next the frostbite. This would be great if I had strong burst damage, but my build is more oriented towards constant damage output, like a baseline for other DPS to spike over. Unfortunately this attack seems very well designed to be reducing that to minimal levels. Hopefully the others can take it down, but unfortunately once I'm free unless someone potentially stuns or paralyzes the head I won't be able to hit it." Jomei 0 Posted September 9, 2019 #426 Share Posted September 9, 2019 (edited) What was left of the raid team seemed to finally start picking up on the patterns of attack from the Leviathan. They all knew they could take it out no problem with the powerful sword arts they had. However, they decided, instead, to leave a sliver of its health intact because of the looming threat of another Frostbite attack. If they had destroyed the segment, and then become frozen from the effects of the boss' ability, they would miss out on an opportunity to do massive damage to what was left of the Leviathan's health bar. In this case, if any of them suffered from the freezing effects, they would be free with enough time to deal some real damage to the boss. Jomei looked to his comrades and the cold mist slowly descended upon them, waiting to see if any of them would attack or become frozen. When no one made any sudden movements, Jomei decided to be the one to go on the offensive. Moving quickly, to avoid any of the frost from sticking to his armor, the ginger rushed forward with a zig zag motion. He knew with what little health the Leviathan's segment had, he did not need the full blast from Over Radiation, for that would only drain more of his energy than needed. Instead, he decided to go with a bit of a weaker attack that should still do the trick. Pushing off of his back foot so he launched into the air, Jomei unleashed three powerful cuts, forming a triangle. Once he hit the sand yet again, he quickly moved backwards, ready for the Leviathan to lower its head once more, "Get ready for it! Give it everything you've got.." Leviathan 2 Posted September 9, 2019 Author #427 Share Posted September 9, 2019 (edited) Players have 48 hours to post [Deadline is Wedesday, September 11th at 3:30 PM PDT] The leviathan was tiring of these drawn out tactics, and as the players finished off the most recent segment, it seemed to send a ripple effect across the leviathan's body. Scales began to fall off at an immeasurable pace. Some were still there, but the skin was becoming more and more bare now. Spewing boiling hot water everywhere, the leviathan attempted to bit down on one the one player that wasn't frozen by its last frigid blast. They missed by a sizable margin and planted their head into the sand. They were vulnerable. The sea noted this, and began to back off from its relenting waves. It knew that its champion was in a losing position, and didn't wish to watch them go down in such a shameful manner. Perhaps it could select a new champion another decade. Then it would finally claim the land all to itself. But that was for another time. And though it is stated earlier, once again, this does not cost a post action. I will know you aren't reading these abilities if you ask me if it takes a post action. You cannot quick change to gain immunity either, as it takes place at the start of your turn. Ability 4: Tsunami [Acitvates once when Leviathan reaches 20% or lower Health] Leviathan, all Segments, Water Crystals, and any remaining Sahagin retreat. Torrential Rain is disabled, and remains inactive for the remainder of the fight. Leviathan takes no action for two turns. On the third rotation, the Tsunami strikes, dealing each player 50% of their current HP in unmitigatable damage (Note that this does not take an attack roll to hit; this attack will ignore, but not interrupt stealth; this attack does not proc thorns). <<Segment>> [Diamond Dust] [ ] 50 MIT | 2 EVA AoE attacks cannot include more than one segment. Though they die and respawn, Segments cannot be affected by Charge more than once, and effects like debuffs will continue to affect a downed/respawned Segment. One segment is assigned to each party. When a Segment is destroyed, Leviathan lurches forward and becomes targetable for 1 turn for all parties (stacks with other segments being destroyed). The destroyed Segment immediately respawns with a set of Sahagin adds. These Sahagin only target players in the party that they are assigned to and can only be targeted by players that they are assigned to. A respawned Segment has the <<Diamond Dust>> buff until all paired adds are killed. Ability 1: Diamond Dust - Leviathan’s scales shimmer like diamonds. A Segment with the <<Diamond Dust>> buff is immune to damage. <<Sahagin 1>> [ ] 300 DMG | 50 MIT | 3 ACC | 1 EVA | 8 PD <<Sahagin 2>> [ ] 300 DMG | 50 MIT | 3 ACC | 1 EVA | 8 PD <<Sahagin 3>> [ ] 300 DMG | 50 MIT | 3 ACC | 1 EVA | 8 PD <<Sahagin 4>> [ ] 300 DMG | 50 MIT | 3 ACC | 1 EVA | 8 PD <<Red Sahagin 1>> [ ] See notes below <<Red Sahagin 2>> [ ] See notes below Start spawning upon segment destruction when Leviathan reaches 30% HP. Stats: 200 DMG | 75 MIT | 4 ACC | 2 EVA | 10 PD Ability 1 - Power Attack: Red Sahagin deal 350 damage on a critical hit Ability 2 - Enraged: Red Sahagin ignore hate and attack in the following pattern: The player who attacked it last. The player who healed a target last. The player who reduced a target to 0 HP last The player with the highest hate among all targets. Two Red Sahagins cannot attack the same target. <<Water Crystal>> [ ] Spawn when Leviathan reaches 50% HP. Respawn every 3 Turns after they are killed at the end of leviathan's turn. 0 MIT | 4 EVA One crystal is assigned to each party. Only the assigned party may target the water crystal. Hate is not gained against water crystals. At the start of Leviathan's turn, each living Water Crystal heals Leviathan for 3% of its max HP. When a Water Crystal is destroyed, its corresponding party gains the <<Hydrated>> buff. Ability 1: Hydrated: Instantly restores 25% of total energy (ignores queen's ire). Passive energy restoration is tripled and the effect of the Recovery enhancement is doubled for 1 turn. Neopolitan 0 Posted September 9, 2019 #428 Share Posted September 9, 2019 (edited) Neo was shocked by the events happening. She realized that she was likely to soon witness her first floor boss dying in front of her. She had only been keeping up with the frontlines for a short amount of time, and she was already here fighting with them. When she looked back, she realized just how far she had come. But we still have work to be done. Of the few times I'll ever agree with you, this is one of them. Let's kill this thing. With an unbridled anger, Neo charged at the beast with everything she could. A black cloud of smoke seemed to surround her, the fallen energy of her rapier coming against the creature with an unholy might not even she knew she had in her. If she talked, she would scream. But all that could be heard after her attack was the panting of her breath and the look of fury in her eyes. Hestia 0 Posted September 10, 2019 #429 Share Posted September 10, 2019 Seeing the segment be destroyed i just grin as the shahagins spawn as i can onyl do the only thing that would allow some room to allow the DPS to do what they cn do in this fight as i quickly activate howl. Slamming the pommel of my balde against my shield as a loud gong like ring echoes throughout the battlefield as iget the attention of the regular shahgin to attack me. Okay you stupid fish try to see what you can do against myself. I shout over towards them as i take a few steps towards the minions to allow myself to stand between them and my allies and just looks towards Jomei and Itzal. Just go all out against the Leivathan if you can Are, and Jomei. We need to get as much damage as we can against that thing. I say quickly as i just glance back towards the enemies now keepng my shield close towards my chest and also getting into a firmer stance to avoid being knocked off my feet. Jomei 0 Posted September 10, 2019 #430 Share Posted September 10, 2019 (edited) As Jomei pulled his blade from the Leviathan's hide, the creature growled and stopped its coiling motion. Some of the scales that covered its body crashed into the sand as the boss was weakened yet again. Out of sight, from the large craters in the cliff side, the battle cry of the Sahagin could be heard yet again, and the strange fish-men began to leap to the sand below them. Jomei took a few steps back as one jumped from the Leviathan's back to right in front of Jomei, screaming at him in whatever language it spoke. Kicking the creature off of him, Jomei turned towards Hestia who had just drawn most of their attention from them. "Thanks." Jomei said with a nod and a smirk before bringing his focus back to the Leviathan. Pushing forward, Jomei broke into a sprint to avoid missing his opportunity to strike. Once within blade's reach, Jomei thrust the sword forward and began his assault. Fourteen rapid hits with his blade, putting as much power as he could behind each swing. Grasping on the bit of hope he had that one of those strikes would end the beast for good. Calrex 0 Posted September 11, 2019 #431 Share Posted September 11, 2019 Spoiler Frozen (1 Energy Recovered / 159 Remaining) As the main body was exposed for attack Calrex's eyes watched as the others that could still move took the opportunity to attack, placing a good amount of damage onto the boss. At the same time more of the minions spawned to populate the field once again, the bluenette cursing in his thoughts, "It's really one thing after another with this boss..." He could feel warmth flowing back into his limbs as the Frostbite effect began to wear off, although it was likely he wasn't going to be able to act for a little while longer. Most likely he wasn't going to be able to attack the main body until their opening was already used up. "I guess at least I may be able to attack the sahagin once I get out, since I didn't have the opportunity to switch to Martial Arts this time around. However that freezing attack will likely be cast again once I get free...let's just hope I get lucky next time around." Itzal 0 Posted September 11, 2019 #432 Share Posted September 11, 2019 He was over this. He was over and done, and it was time to finish this fight once and for all. Itzal felt the ice beginning to break away. He could have just stood there and waited for it to finish.. But no. He was too pissed off. He pushed himself out and rolled forward, dodging the scald attack expertly. He landed on his feet and sprang forward at the boss with high speed, his blade at the ready. As the Leviathan pulled itself in he watched as everyone aimed for the bare patch of skin, but Itzal wasn't going for that. No. If this was an all or nothing hit he was going for the critical. Instead of striking the skin, Itzal jumped onto it and ran along its side, his blade stabbing down and dragging along it's skin as he ran. He then leaped up to where it's face was and thrust his sword deep into it's right eye. He grabbed it's eyebrow to hold on with his left hand and shoved the blade deeper with his right. When the creature bucked he let go. He thrust his blade between two scales in it's body and let the sword cut the creature on his way down, which also slowed his descent. When he got to the bottom he pushed off, rolled on the ground and turned ready for action. Three status bars appeared by it's health: Bleed. Paralysis. And Poison. FINALLY. Leviathan 2 Posted September 12, 2019 Author #433 Share Posted September 12, 2019 This thread will be closed soon, please do not post after this post. Once Floor 25 is released, the 5 people still here at the end of the fight will have a 48 hour head start on doing any content on that floor (including searching for the labyrinth guardian). Players will be announced when that floor is released. The Leviathan screeched in agony. First the pinkette came at them with a cloud of darkness. It hurt like nothing before as it tried to free its head from the sand. The second rapier came at her with all the force in the world. And then finally, it was the hooded player's turn at agonizing the creature. Blow after blow landed against it, slowly pushing it towards the brink of extinction. And as the player slid down the throat of the creature, the health bar was turned to nothing. The creature glowed a bright, pale red and then shattered, freeing the players from their coiled prison. The Sahagin that were on the field screeched, seeing their queen go down in front of their eyes. All six of them scrambled back towards their holes, sealing them off behind them so as to not be chased any further. The tide retreated further, this time revealing a set of sand stairs that rose from the ocean bed. They led towards a door, to where could not yet be seen. Clouds parted and sunlight beamed into the arena, freeing the player that had been stuck frozen outside of the arena. A glint could be seen in the distance, a player nearly done falling through the air. The sea had failed its defense, and yielded ground to the constant push of the front lines.
