Symphony 0 Posted April 22, 2019 Author #21 Share Posted April 22, 2019 (edited) Symphony attempted another sword art attack but to no avail. The giant bat put its strong wings up, which deflected her blade. They bounced off harmlessly. Before the beast could counter attack, she leaped away to safety. She frowned. I'll have to aim for weaker points if I want to end this battle, she thought. Meanwhile, her mind was also thinking about where the little boy she was in here looking for could possibly be. If he hadn't been hit by the debris at this point (which would be an absolute miracle), then maybe he was still safe. She hoped he was. It would be a shame to bring a dead body back to his concerned mother. She focused herself back on the task at hand. The bat was becoming more agitated by the moment. It seemed that the beast also wanted the fight to end sooner rather than later. Just you wait, she thought. It will end soon enough, but in MY favor. She grinned at the thought. Symphony 0 Posted April 22, 2019 Author #22 Share Posted April 22, 2019 (edited) Suddenly, without warning, the bat let out another screech. Symphony looked up just in time to see a boulder falling from the ceiling right towards her. In the short amount of time given, the best she could do was to try and roll out of the way. But the large rock fell and crushed her foot. She held in a scream of pain and dragged herself away from the angry giant bat. She knew, if given the chance, the thing would gobble her right up. Once she had limped a fair enough distance away from the beast, she checked and moved her foot. Luckily, the nerve gear made the pain only a dull sting, but it was still an annoyance. She slowly straightened out her leg and foot and put some weight on it. She winced, but she could still move. The pain wasn't too bad. She called for Cloak to distract the enemy as she would try to bandage it. Symphony 0 Posted April 22, 2019 Author #23 Share Posted April 22, 2019 (edited) Cloak distracted the restless giant bat while Symphony took off her left boot. She needed to inspect the damage and bandage the wound to prevent further swelling and pain. After taking off the boot, she took off her stocking and examined the foot. It was swollen, yes. But no bones seemed out of place or broken. She was quite lucky and she knew it. That large rock could have easily broken her leg if it had been any bigger or fallen from a greater height. She heard the giant bat screech with frustration again and looked up to see the thing sulking as it couldn't catch the fast Cloak in the air. Cloak did a sort of cawing laugh and perched above the bat. Symphony knew the giant bat would pay her attention again if she did not hurry, so she wrapped her foot quickly and put on her stocking and shoe once more. Symphony 0 Posted April 22, 2019 Author #24 Share Posted April 22, 2019 (edited) As Symphony looked up from tying her laces, she saw the giant bat racing up towards her, only a few feet away. The only thing she could do was brace herself as the beast approached and knocked her across the room with its right wing. She rolled and ended up hitting a large boulder with her back. She gasped, the wind knocked out of her, and slowly got up. She shook her head and focused her attention on the bat, which was on the other side of the room. She had rolled quite the distance. Symphony locked eyes with the beast and her eyes glowed red as she charged her dagger and charged at full speed towards the enemy. She screamed as she stabbed her blade into the heart and then the brain of the beast. Finally, the fight was over. She breathed heavily, catching her breath, and then stood up straight, cleaning her blade with a handkerchief in her inventory. Symphony 0 Posted April 22, 2019 Author #25 Share Posted April 22, 2019 (edited) Cloak flew from across the room and landed on Symphony's outstretched arm. She pet her friend and then spoke to him, "Go find the boy. I sense he is around here somewhere." As Cloak flew off to search the corners of the room, she heard something approaching behind her. She readied her dagger and turned around, but she stopped her blade just in time. The lost little boy had approached her. She let out a sigh of relief and put her dagger away. She had finally found the little one safe and sound. She looked down at him and said, "Well, you have worried your mother sick this whole time, love." Then she picked him up and wiped the dirt off of his face. "Now, let's get you back home safe to your mama." The little boy could only cry with relief and great emotion as Symphony carried him out of the cave. Along the way, she remembered his teddy bear and gave it back to the boy. The toy helped soften his crying and he was quickly all smiles again as they left the cave. The little boy was only about 5 years old, very young to be getting lost in caves. As they approached his village, his mother came running up and took her little boy in her arms holding him closely. "Thank you! Thank you, so much!" she cried as she held her young one close. Symphony bowed. "You're welcome ma'am. I'm just glad we could get him back to you safely. Though I must say something." Her face grew serious. "I do not know how he survived today. I had to fight giant beasts that could have easily killed this young one." Her tone changed as she looked upon the little boy's face. "He must have some luck to him or something. He is very lucky to still be alive today." And with that, she waved goodbye to the happy mother and son and walked back to a tavern to get a drink, her pockets a bit fuller with coin from payment for the good deed.
