[F1 - R10 Tailor] The Crusty Bahrnacle

Recommended Posts

"OH POOKIE-BAHR!" Oz called out loudly over the sound of the doorbell as he entered the shop. "I HAVE MORE WORK FOR YOU!"

By the time his eyes managed to find the crimson crusader, he was already scowling at Oz. Splendid. "You know," Oz started with a wry smile as he approached the counter, "I can't say I'm terribly fond of the goons you've been sending after me lately. I get being pissed, but come on. That's unnecessary."

He laid out two pieces of cloth armor, as well as a Gleaming Scale and a Demonic Shard. The implication was evident - these needed to be fused.

His eyes narrowed as he heard that grating voice booming over the doorbell, and a sigh escaped his lips. It seemed the green asshole was back. Wasn't a single, agonizing visit enough to get whatever the fuck he was trying to do out of his system?

He stared blankly as Oz explained something about "goons" that Bahr had supposedly sent after him, cocking his head in mild confusion. "Sincerely, I don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about. Maybe people are after you because you're a dick. I can't be the only one that hates you."

Then there was the items. No further word, no nothing. A silent request - no, demand that Bahr fuse the artifacts before him. Maybe if he did, it would get Oz to leave him alone once and for all.

As usual, Bahr was none too pleased by Oz's intrusion. But that was to be expected.

What Oz didn't expect was for Bahr to deny that he'd sent anyone after him. Now, why would he go and tell a lie like that? Strong, brooding red guy lies to save his own skin? Didn't seem like the type. For a moment, Oz caught himself entertaining the notion that perhaps Bahr was telling the truth, and hadn't sent anyone to pursue him. He dismissed the thought almost as soon as it began percolating in his alcohol-stained noodle.

"Much thanks for the services, Pookie-Bahr." With that, Oz collected his newly minted threads and made for the door with all the grace of a brain-damaged gazelle.

Oz acquires:

This was her first time dealing shopkeepers that weren’t pre-programmed NPCs and she was clearly uneasy. In real life, she’d gotten accustomed to measuring people’s voices. She could immediately feel the pressure of the distaste he felt for her, yet at the same time she felt like she’d not done anything reasonably wrong. As he worked, Firefly did her best to stay small and quiet to not upset him further even if she was curious to see it done.

When he handed over the item, she accepted with a small still. His warning to keep herself safe did not come off as condescending, in fact, it was rather sincere from his tone. A wave of relief washed over her. “Th-Thank you.” She’ll sheepishly chirp out she equipped it. “I will keep myself safe. I can’t see the world with my newfound eyesight if I’m dead after all and you’ve made that significantly easier.” Her enthusiasm saw her out of the shop, ready to remove herself from the dredge back alleys of the Town of Beginnings.

"A couple of items for fusion," Star said. He appreciated the item as an appraiser, but it wouldn't have suited him in practice. At least, he didn't think so. He placed the two capes down on the counter for Bahr to look over and waited for a yes or a no. While he waited, he recounted his demonic scales and gleaming shards to make sure he had enough on hand.

He wasn't sure he had ever been to Bahr's shop. He found it difficult to find (as he did everything in the Town of Beginnings). It was a whole lot nicer inside than it was out.

Bahr inspected the garments, then poured over the form Morningstar had provided which detailed the desired final product. Bahr couldn't rightly say he didn't appreciate the direction Star was going with this, even if it wasn't really his cup of tea. But then again, was it Morningstar's cup of tea, either?

"An easy enough task," he decided, before retrieving both vestments and retreating to his little workshop in the back room.

After some time (and a bit of swearing, which may or may not have been audible from the showroom), Bahr returned with the finished product. It was a beautiful thing, but the crimson crusader regarded it with disdain. "Yeah, not as easy as I thought, actually. Some pieces didn't really want to fit... But I figured it out." He laid it upon the counter for his customer's inspection. "Think this'll do?"

"Sorry for the trouble," Star said, grabbing up his new item. He looked over the stitching and admired the fabric. "Yeah, this looks perfect. My client will love it, I'm sure. Thanks. This is much appreciated."

He left with a wave, and headed way up to Coral for his next pickup. He had a triangle of stops, all in different places, and Coral was the last stop on his list. "Trinket, armor, sword..." Star muttered on his way through the rugged streets of the Town of Beginnings' underbelly. "Just leaves Wulfrin's shop and then I've got it all sorted out."

Realizing too late that he had taken a wrong turn on his morning run, Sable stopped in front of the Crusty Barnacle and raised a brow as he attempted to read the sign. After a fourth attempt he finally stepped up and opened the door to tale a peek inside. The interior was so stark a contrast that it surprised him. His eyes scanned the cases and shelves, soaking in their contents with great interest. Taking a moment to get his bearings the young man approached the front counter, fulling committed to the decision of his order.

"Hey, uh, I'd like to get some armor if possible?"

"Hey, uh, I'd like to get some armor if possible?"

The words stirred Bahr from his inner monologue his senses coming back to the present kicking and screaming. He regarded the young fellow with an absent look and a slow blink. Those aware of Bahr's more brooding personality quirks may have assumed he were scheming or otherwise fuming over something he couldn't control.

Far from it. In this instance, he'd been staring at the same two fabrics for over an hour, and couldn't decide between the two of them for a project he'd been working on. One was a rick velvet violet, whereas the other was a soft, fluffy lilac. Perhaps taking a break and tending to the youth's order would better align his preferences.

"Sure, shouldn't take but a moment. You look kinda new, too, so this one's on the house."

True to his word, the garment was ready in less than five minutes. He placed it gingerly on the countertop for the boy to inspect and recentered his gaze on the warring fabrics in question. "Hope this works for you. Stay safe out there."

a distinct, clear voice rings out in accompaniment with the opening of the shop's door, and footsteps upon the wooden floor. "pardon! is anyone here at the moment? i have a request for an item fusion."

iris examined the store in full, curious, but nonetheless wary of the tailor at work. once he'd made himself known for availability, she approached the counter, pulling up a couple of cloth pieces.

"sorry for the intrusion! i was referred to visit this place upon request. just these two items, and then i'll be off."

still, as the crafter busied himself with his work, iris' gaze was still fixated upon the clothing on display. she gave him a smile and a raised finger ("i'll... just be a moment!") before gingerly making her way over to the store's selected stock.

"W-Wait what?!" the young man asked as he stood in front of the shopkeep, a handful of mats and col in each hand. "I-Are you sure?"

Sable took the armor from Bahr and stared at it for a few seconds before putting it in his inventory. He looked up at the man before him and nodded, "Thank you. I'm make sure to put it to good use." with that he gave his goodbyes and left the shop. Taking a deep breath he stretched a bit before returning to a jog, making sure to retrace his path back to the safer side of the city.

As the boy left, another youth entered the shop and made herself known. Seemed she was looking for some sort of item fusion. Luckily, Bahr had had some practice with regards to fusion thanks to that asshole Oz always coming around and demanding freebies. He inspected the pieces she'd lain out for him, and eyed her as she went to inspect the rest of the store's wares. She'd found the dresses, it seemed.

The garments she'd selected were both fine specimens in their own right. Identical in every way but name and description. The desired direction she was going with it, in the end, was obvious, and Bahr couldn't much say he disagreed. If this had been her idea, she had a good eye.

Combining them was refreshingly simple and he had the completed work ready within only a few moments. "Got this ready for you," he called as the newly minted wrist cuff made its way onto the counter for inspection. "Let me know if this will work."

oh.

iris had to admit she might have been taking her time looking over the pieces on display and a little distracted trying to put the outfits together to have noticed the tailor's call. still, though, when she finally realized she'd been slacking on the job (totally on accident, she'd swear!) the cuff had already been completed. rushing over to the counter as best as she could in heels, with a smile, she gave the shopkeeper a bow, two hands folded at her front. "thank you so much for your hard work!"

after she'd retrieved the item, however, her gaze drifted over to one of the pieces that stuck out in her mind. never mind frivolity for the moment. it would work for jean. she took it off the rack and placed it on the counter as well. "i'll be taking this as well, if you don't mind...!"

-> whatever else she got, it was vanity.

-> retrieving:

It was late. Really late. The raid was today, and was slated to start in just a few hours; it was under this context that Pinball slipped into Bahr's shop, his eyes darting from corner to darkened corner. "Ring, ring," he called. Was anyone home?

He spotted the man, hopefully not on his way out the door. He was surprised. He expected him to have been at the raid already. Maybe he was also making last minute preparations. "Sorry," he apologized. "I need these items fused. I've got the scale and shard for you." Pinball sent them over quickly. Time was of the essence.

"Into the cloak, please. Not the poncho."

It wasn't a surprise that Pinball was here, in the final hour, scrambling to get the last of his raid gear cobbled together. Much the same, it seemed all of Aincrad was abuzz with raid prep, trying to squeeze every last molecule of efficacy out of their equipment that they could. The time for bolstering their stats with EXP and levels had come and gone - now there was only time enough to refine that which they already possessed.

It was a simple matter to give Pinball what he had come for, especially considering one of the constituent pieces was a craft of Bahr's own design. Within a matter of minutes, the tailor had the final product ready for inspection. "This ought to do it."

Look like its right place. Who would know one'd find it here. She supposed if the shop isn't easy to find then the tailor guy must be quite good. She inhaled then pushed through the door. The bell on top rung announcing her presence. Her crimson eyes widened as she taking in the surrounding. So many awesome cloth/light gears displaying on stands plus other stuff. She knows what she's looking for though. She looked around and found the catalog. Turning pages in it till one locked her eyes.

"Thats it! Um, excuse me mister? Where could I find a request form to fill out?" Just as she asked, her eyes wandered to forms sitting on another end of the counter. "Welp, nevermind. Found it. I'm gonna write it down now. Let me know if anything amiss or... incorrect, and I'll fix it. A first timer here after all."

She proceeded to filling down the form:

Mismatched orbs traced the youth as she meandered clumsily through his store. She was clearly new, and confusion seemed to cross her expression in equal measure to the wonder and ambition that also rode her visage. Her attention affixed to the order forms just moments after asking for them verbally.

So close. Maybe I need to put them closer to the door.

He inspected the order form as she submitted it. Seemed she had enough faith in his chops as a tailor to allow him most of the creative freedom with this piece, which was exactly what he had been looking for. There was a new, experimental fabric he had yet to try.

"Alright, no problem. I'll have this done in a sec."

After about five minutes, Bahr emerged from his little workshop in the back and produced the finished garment, placing it atop the counter for his customer to scrutinize. "Will this work?"

Oats went poking a light armor on a stand near the counter to give it a close inspection. Just out of curiosity. She assumed she’d have more time to explore the rest of the shop, but she thought wrongly. Didn’t expect the tailor keeper to finish with her order this fast.

”Whoa, that was fast!” She paused and gazed upwards and to her left, seemingly in deep thought. That’s right. Comparing to the real world, everything in here takes only few minutes, if not seconds. “Nevermind. What do you got there?”

She walked up to the counter to take a good look at the newly crafted item, soon-to-be one of her very first equipments. She tapped on the cloth armor and its informations window appeared in front of it. Ink-Stain Battleskirt is the name of it. She loves what she read under the description, but more importantly, the enhancement is exactly what she requested!!

She digitally seized the cloth armor, then bowed politely to thank him and dashed off. As she began to open the door to the street, she turned back and waved before departing.

The confidence so easily achieved in moments of personal grandeur so easily leave when the next challenge appears. Standing in an alleyway, Echo finds themself lost in indecision

I never thought a place like this would even exist. I guess it is the only way to get good gear, it says they are a tailor which is what I need. It's okay, take a deep breath and walk in. Everything will be fine, just take it.

Opening the door to the shop, what might have otherwise been a comforting site juxtaposed to the decrepit surroundings, is lost on Echo as their mind swims with doubt. They do their best to make themself as small as possible, not wanting to take up space in this place, practically folding in on themself as though the weight of anxiety were a physical sensation. Approaching the counter. Looking to not take up too much time they find the form and fill it out.

Once done, in a voice almost too soft to be heard they attempt to get the attention of the practitioner.

“E-excuse me, if it wouldn’t be too much to ask, I have something I am looking to have made. Here I filled out the form already, please let me know if there is anything amiss.”

They hand the form to Bahr along with payment.

What a tiny little thing, Bahr thought to himself as the newest guest to his humble boutique floated in like a specter. It seemed they desired the interaction no more than Bahr did in the end, though the necessities of Aincrad compelled them to put one foot ahead of the other. By the time that they reached the counter, Bahr was already prepping to get started on a new piece.

They produced the form in timid fashion, and Bahr inspected it silently. After a moment, he offered a nod, then waved a hand lackadaisically through the air as though to dismiss some notion he'd disagreed with. "No payment needed - newbies get stuff for free here." He hoped his observation of his interlocutor's low level hadn't offended them.

He retreated to the little workshop cordoned away from the showroom to get to work. After a few moments, the finalized work was ready for inspection. He brought it back out to the showroom, where his customer was still patiently waiting, and laid the piece over the counter so they could have a look.

"Would something like this work for you?"
