Today, Oscar was successful for the first time in crafting a Perfect Feast. He didn't know what kind of market there was for such an item, but he did know that they had presented a massive challenge to him in the past. Oscar would add them to the rest of his stock that would line his shelves come his Grand Re-Opening Day. He had plenty of stock now, a solid selection of buffs to choose from. He'd have to refrain from sampling from his own stock as much as he had. Though the buffs were wonderful to have, his shop also hadn't made any money in weeks. It was time to fix that.

Oscar had a feeling. That feeling you get when you know something is looming on the horizon. Someone would have need of his expertise with hot dogs. And soon. It might not be today, it might not be tomorrow. But soon. He worked in a frenzy, preparing himself and his shop for their Reckoning. He wasn't even paying attention to what he was setting for the dishes' names and descriptions. It was like he was in a trance, looking ever onward to the horizon and what was soon to come. He knew these hot dogs were destined for greatness. He just didn't know how.

As Bahr swung open the door to Oscar's shop, the bell that was attached rang loudly for all to hear. "All" being Bahr and, presumably, Oscar. If he was around. The door was unlocked, so Bahr assumed he was. But you could never be too sure in a neighborhood like this.

"Hey, neighbor! You around?" Bahr called out as he approached the counter, grabbing a handful of order forms. "Got a big one for you. Like, really big. I actually don't think I've ever ordered this much from any shop, ever. Hopefully you're up to the task." Jotting down what he wanted on the order forms and leaving them in a neat stack on the counter, Bahr produced the col and Materials that he would leave for Oscar as payment - plus a generous tip.

"Just give me a ring when you have any of these orders completed - I'll take whatever you have done at the time. Let me know!"

He was out the door before he heard a reply.

His time had come. His preparations the day before had not been wasted. In walked Bahr, who grabbed a ton of order forms and began to fill them out. It was almost prophetic how he had named the dishes from the day before the exact names that Bahr was placing down on the order forms. Truly, he was the second coming of Nostradamus. Only he was Oscardamus, Lord of the Hot Dogs. After the order was placed, Oscar got to cooking. It was best to take care of the meal orders first. If Bahr needed the snacks, he could hit up Oscar's general stock. Soon, he was done. And, with his preparations from yesterday, half of Bahr's order was already done.

Bahr strolled through the door once more, drawn in by the smell that had wafted through the thin wall connecting their establishments. Bahr could tell that the man had just finished another batch of his super excellent hot dogs. Upon approaching the counter, he was met with a list of the items that were up for grabs. Without hesitation, he slapped the necessary col on the table and made his order.

"Thank god you can't actually gain weight in Aincrad," Bahr remarked, "otherwise you'd be the reason I'd be becoming fat. But since there is no weight gain, I can indulge guilt-free. Thanks for moving in next door - I don't know how I ever survived without this place."

Oscar had work to do. He took Bahr's order forms with him to the kitchen and began to separate them out. Some of the crafts had to be snacks, while the others were meals. Since he had already taken a hefty chunk out of the meals Bahr had asked for, Oscar decided to move onto the snacks. It took some doing, but he managed to successfully craft nearly all of the snacks Bahr had requested from his shop. Happy to see the order almost complete, Oscar put the package together and got ready to deliver the second wave of dishes to the Bloodedge next door.

A grand day. Oscar was one step closer to successfully completing Bahr's massive order. He just a little more work and it would all be done and put to bed. He was more enthused than ever to step into his kitchen. He worked like a demon, creating culinary concoctions the likes of which would make even the Five-Star Chefs of in the real world jealous. His hot dogs would make them cower in fear of his culinary prowess. If only he could cook this well in the real world. But such is life. At least he could could find solace in the fact that while he was stuck in Aincrad.

Oscar hummed to himself as he stepped into his kitchen. It was time to put the nose to the grindstone and get cracking on finishing up Bahr's order. He was fishing for a multicraft proc to finish out the last of Bahr's desired items. Anything sort of that and he would simply be wasting materials. Alas, he did not achieve what he was looking for. He walked away from his prep area with only a single perfect craft. So, true to form, he finalized the craft with an Accuracy and Protein Enhancement and called it a day. Hooray for accuracy and damage! He hated his life right now.

Another day, another dish! Or so Oscar tried to tell himself in an effort to motivate himself to continue cooking. The much vaunted triple perfect craft had eluded him the day before, so hopefully it would grace him with its presence today. After a mighty round of cooking, it did not come. Instead its much-less-popular second cousin, the double perfect appeared in its place. Oscar wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth though. Or, in this case, a damage and accuracy horse. What was that metaphor even about? Oscar figured that he was just suffering the side effects from drinking too much hot dog water and decided to buy a Brita Pitcher for his kitchen.

With his new pitcher in tow, Oscar was once again able to hydrate without the strange after-effects of guzzling gallons of hot dog water. Why was he drinking hot dog water in the first place? He didn't know. What he did know was that he was refreshed, renewed, and - most importantly - hydrated. Oscar used his newfound energy to set about work in his kitchen. He achieved a state of culinary nirvana. As a reward for this, the universe graced him with the Godcraft. The much-needed Triple Perfect to finish out Bahr's ludicrously-long list of foods. What did he need all these hot dogs for anyway?

As it turned out, his Brita Pitcher didn't work on hot dog water. He thought it would be a good experiment in recycling to see whether his filter could undo the hotdoggening of the life-giving liquid. It couldn't and now Oscar hated life. He half-heartedly went through the motions of cooking, fumbling just about every attempt. It was hard when to cook when you had consumed so much salt and fat dissolved in tepid H20 that you were pretty sure you saw the face of God in your pantry. Oscar threw it all out, along with the pitcher. It was completely ruined now anyway. He wondered whether tap water would be a viable alternative.

The tap water, while not as hallucinogenic as Hot Dog water, was still insufficient in quenching Oscar's mighty thirst. Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to invent Aincrad Gatorade. A brilliant idea - according to his dehydrated mind! He could market it to the Frontliners. Go on a PR blitz. Maybe include commercials of the Frontliners fighting bosses in slow motion while phosphorescent sweat dripped from their bodies. He'd be raking in the Col with that idea. Now he just needed a slogan. It is in you sounded pretty nice. But it could use some work. Also he made an Ultra Prosperous Hot Dog. Yippee.

In Oscar's quest to create the perfect sports drink in Aincrad, he completely forgot why he had gotten into it in the first place. It wasn't for the fame or the Col. It was for the hot dogs and the people who shoved them into their face holes. Keeping that simple thought in mind, Oscar stepped into his kitchen and had the best cooking experience he had in weeks. Perhaps he had found his inspiration once again. Or, more likely, he'd stopped guzzling copious amounts of dubious liquds and drank only fresh spring water from the higher floors. He definitely needed to invest in better pipes for the kitchen. He was pretty sure there was lead in there.

Huh, this was a weird place for a hotdog shop.... Right next to a tailor, weird place in town, seedy, this was where he would expect backwater drug deals in real life to take place, but that was real life, in this game, well... He was strong enough to survive here. He walked into the shop, looking around inside. He saw a ton of food items! This guy was a active crafter, much better then he had been. So that was good! He went up to the desk and bought a bunch of stock.

"Three of the Prosperous, two focused chilli and three Ultra Luck please" He would say before he gave the col, completing the transaction adn walking out, almost ready for the last part of the plan to get the hall.

Oscar stepped into his kitchen with extreme confidence. That confidence was not wasted considering what he wound up crafting. Two of the godly triple Perfect crafts and also a triple Rare. Truly the gods were smiling upon him this day. He put the finishing touches on his food and junk and then washed the dishes. It was then he noticed that he ranked up his Cooking skill. He stared at the menu for a moment as he scoured one of his pots to get the baked on bits of chili off. Then he shrugged his shoulders and said:

"Oh, word."

Today was Oscar's first day as a Rank 9 cook. Upon stepping into his kitchen and getting to work, he quickly found that his effectiveness as a crafter had increased far more than he had initially expected it to. Oscar was quite impressed with the results. With a single crafting session, Oscar was able to create over 10 whole dishes to add to his shop. He smiled as he looked over it all and then began to clean up from the day's work. Now he just needed to find more customers. His stock was growing exponentially, but no one was buying anything. That was a problem, of course. He probably had 50 grand in Col tied up in unsold merchandise.

Sitting in the aftermath of the day's cooking session, Oscar groaned in frustration. In his efforts to expand the stock in his shop, Oscar noticed that he was in desperate need of Mitigation and Overhealth food. They were enhancements that he could only apply to meals. Crafting meals was always serious business because anything less than perfect was unusable. This was because he couldn't make use of Rare meals like he could Rare snacks. No one wants Mitigation food that's missing a slot, after all. After trying his hardest, the only thing Oscar could craft was a single Perfect meal. He put the finishing touches on it and trashed the rest. He would have to hope that tomorrow was better.

Yesterday had been unfortunate, but Oscar had bounced back with a vengeance today. The fruits of his labors were plentiful. He finally had a decent number of meals to add to his shop now! With Mitigation and Overhealth now featured as enhancements to be obtained via his stock, Oscar was very happy with the day's results. All that remained was putting the finishing touches on everything and cleaning up. He whistled a lively tune while he worked, making sure that everything was just so before updating his stock. His customers deserved nothing less than the best, after all. With all said and done, Oscar closed up shop and headed home.

Today was a great day for crafting. Oscar thought the day before had been a record-breaking accomplishment at seven Perfect crafts in one day. Imagine his surprise when he surpassed that. Oscar looked down at a whopping ELEVEN Perfect Crafts. He was beginning to think that his shop was becoming too well stocked. How could anyone possibly bust into the Cooking market when his shelves were lined so well? But there was a small problem. All of his crafts were of the Tier 2 variety. It wouldn't appeal to any of the higher level players. His next task was rectifying that situation. But, first, there was just the small matter of finalizing all of these crafts and cleaning up for the day.

It was time to diversify his portfolio, so to speak. He'd made plenty of dishes for the Tier 2 players. But Oscar couldn't neglect the noobs. They needed a source of consumables. Likely even more than the Frontliners did. Those guys had plenty of resources at their fingertips. They could wait a little longer if they needed to purchase from his shop. Oscar would rather prop up the newer players than he would help the rich get richer, so to speak. Luckily, his work in the kitchen paid off in spades. He finished up in the kitchen and cleaned up for the day and then stocked his shelves with the new dishes.
