Astralin 0 Posted August 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2019 (edited) Astralin had learned of the requirements for the Martial Arts Skill at last...It was unlockable by a quest in the second floor. She definitely wouldn't want to go alone, so she wouldn't dare step outside the safe zone without someone else to help her out. She walked up to the teleport gate, nervous as she did so. She heard that there were other settlements in the higher floors, but there was only one way to see if what she heard was true. She had gotten the name of her destination, so hopefully she wouldn't just appear in the wild. "Alright, here goes... Teleport: Urbus!" She would indeed appear in a settlement, and she let out a sigh of relief. She would then wander the settlement, eventually finding a young man sound asleep on the settlement's seating. The boy was a player, due to the green cursor above him. She noticed that he was wearing handwraps, showing that he might know of the Martial Arts skill. "Excuse me," She began as she began to lightly nudge him. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I have something to ask of you..." @Vigilon Stats/Equipment: Spoiler Level: 1 Max HP: 20 Max EN: 2 Damage: 1 Equipment: Gloves of the Astral Storm(1 Bleed, 1 Paralyze) Basic Starter Leather Vest(Vanity Light armor) Sky blue Traveler's Dress(Vanity Clothing) Astral Cape(Vanity Clothing) Skills: First Aid Rank 1 Edited August 20, 2019 by Astralin
Vigilon 0 Posted August 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Vigilon had been really tired due to his recent exploits, but now that he'd gotten a nap in him, he was sure to be fine. Vigilon would open his eyes as he heard a voice, as well as felt something nudging him awake. "Hrrnnn...wha...." When he got up, he looked to see a girl had woken him. She seemed to be wearing basic apparel...that looked way to basic to be enhanced. "I'm sorry, but are you kind of...um... Sorry, what I mean to ask is, are you low-level? That gear of yours looks too simple to be enhanced, but, well, I've been wrong before. Sorry if that's not the answer you're looking for, I just woke up...were, were you saying something? Sorry, again, just woke up." He wondered what it was this girl wanted by waking him. After all, it's not every day a girl wakes up a guy who's napping on a bench... @Astralin Stats and Equipment: Spoiler Level: 31 HP: 620 EN: 72(Base[60], Energist[10]) Damage: 14(Martial Arts Rank 5[+7], Veriost[+6]) MIT: 18(Swift Endurance) ACC: 1(Karri's Fang) EVA: 1(Swift Endurance) REC: 3(Swift Endurance[+2], Karri's Fang[+1]) Equipment: [T1]Berserker Gloves(1 Taunt, 1 Bleed, 1 Paralyze) [T2]Swift Endurance(1 Mitigation, 1 Evasion, 1 Recovery) [T1]Karri's Fang(1 Recovery, 1 Accuracy, +1 LD) Skills: Energist Martial Arts Rank 5 Familiar Mastery: Fighter Rank 3 Mods: Ferocity(+1 base DMG when using Sword Arts)
Astralin 0 Posted August 20, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Astralin noticed that due to waking up slowly, the boy didn't manage to comprehend the words she said. It was almost unusual, noticing his red eyes. She had definitely heard of people with different eye colors, but she had yet to see such colors for real. Of course, it may have easily been just the game and how it worked, or maybe contacts. He asked her if she was low-level, judging by the apparel Astralin was wearing. He apologized for not comprehending her words earlier, and asked what it was that she said. "Oh, no, there's no need to apologize. Yes, I am low-level, and I couldn't help but notice those handwraps you had. I was wondering if you knew anything about the Martial Arts Skill, and the quest I need to take in order to receive it." She looked at those eyes again, and she couldn't help but ask. "I actually have never seen someone with red eyes before...well, someone with eyes that were naturally red, that is. Is it the game, or...or are your eyes actually red? Oh, silly me, where are my manners? I'm Li- A-Astralin! My name is Astralin." @Vigilon
Vigilon 0 Posted August 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2019 The girl said there was no need to apologize, and that, indeed, she was low-level. She explained that she couldn't help but notice the handwraps Vigilon wore, and that she wondered if he knew anything about the Martial Arts skill, as well as the quest associated with it."The Martial Arts Skill? Oh, I know all about that one, I maxed out the skill! ...well, I don't have all the mods for it, but, hey, I maxed out my potential damage with it. I know aaalllll about the quest, too. Breaking the Unbreakable, it was called. In case you're wondering, this quest doesn't pose any real danger, aside from simply being outside the safe zone...wait, are you asking me because you want the skill? If that's the case, I can definitely escort you to the quest, and make the quest easier for you, too." The girl asked Vigilon about the color of his eyes, wondering if they were naturally that color. "Ahaha, as a matter of fact...they are. I was born with red eyes. Apparently it's kind of rare in certain areas, 'cause one of my friends nicknamed me over it, since I was the only one he knew who had red eyes." The girl would introduce herself, almost by her real name. While Vigilon was now curious as to what kind of name started with "Li", he was able to accept the username introduction. "Nice to meet you, Astralin, I'm Vigilon." Veriost would awaken, and notice Astralin, looking at her curiously.
Astralin 0 Posted August 20, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted August 20, 2019 The boy would explain how he had mastered the skill, and Astralin's eyes lit up. "R-really??" The boy would then notice that she might have wanted to take the quest, and offered to escort her to the quest's location. He even assured her that the only danger was simply being outside the safe zone. "Oh, thank you! I was hoping I could find someone who knew about it that could help me out!" The boy would claim that his eyes were, in fact, naturally red. He stated that he was born with them, and one of his friends even gave him a nickname over it, due to the trait's apparent rarity. "Really? Wow, I never would have guessed!" The boy would introduce himself as Vigilon, and a small dragon that was on the boy's shoulder would awaken, then look at Astralin curiously. The sight of the familiar, which probably belonged to the boy, really got Astralin going. She let out a stifled gasp and squeal. "Oh my gosh, is that a little dragon??? D'awwwwww, it's SO CUTE!" Vigilon 0 Posted August 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Astralin thanked Vigilon for being willing to help her out in this tight spot. She also seemed to be surprised when Vigilon told her that indeed, his eyes were naturally red. "Right, so, if you don't mind me asking, what's your reason for getting the skill? To be the strongest, to deal the most damage? Something of the like?" Before the blonde could answer, she caught sight of Veriost and started...um, well, the word being sought out kind of escaped, but...basically the girl stifled a gasp and a squeal, proceeding to recognize Veriost as a small dragon, and note that she was cute...a bit loudly, one might add. Veriost had NEVER seen a reaction like this, so the tone and volume of Astralin's reaction jolted the small white frost dragon to a stand. Veriost looked to Vigilon, who simply smiled. "Yup, she's a small frost dragon. Would you like to pet her? She usually doesn't mind attention from other people."
Astralin 0 Posted August 20, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Vigilon would ask Astralin what her reason was for wanting to obtain the Martial Arts skill, giving two examples of a possibility. "Strongest? I dunno, Most Damage? Hopefully... Now, most Powerful, I can understand. I mean, I like the idea of being a prone damage-dealer...but I'm not very weapon-savvy, you see. I've...I've always loved the idea of being a mage. This game gives me a difficult challenge to face: Survive in a fantasy realm...without a magic skill. I've gotten the healing skill, since it seems close enough, I guess. However, it's left me without a weapon. Thankfully, I learned about the Martial Arts skill when someone gave me a pair of handwraps as a token of appreciation for healing him when he was wounded." Astralin didn't want to get too deep into the topic, not knowing if the boy would be totally fine talking about it. When Vigilon said that Astralin could pet the frost dragon, her eyes lit up, and a smile appeared on her face. She began petting the dragon, and enjoyed the time she had began spending with the adorable little dragon.
Vigilon 0 Posted August 21, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 21, 2019 Vigilon listened carefully to what Astralin had to say. "You wanted to be a mage? Hey, I can totally understand, I've overheard a complaint or two about 'no magic' issues when walking around towns during my time in the game. If the sword wasn't one of the worst weapons in the game, and there was a magic skill, I probably would've become a spellsword." Vigilon thought for a minute, then he had another question to ask as the girl began petting Veriost, who was perfectly fine with the attention. "If there was magic in this game, what would you have gone with? We might as well chat to pass the time during the trip to the quest location." Hopefully, this topic might spark some good conversation, and maybe it will do good things for them both socially. Vigilon would begin making his way to the quest's destination, assuming Astralin would follow.
Astralin 0 Posted August 21, 2019 Author #9 Share Posted August 21, 2019 The two players would begin the journey as Vigilon gave his thoughts on what she said. "Oh, a Spellsword, eh? Interesting... I know someone who would also go with such a build. A friend of mine from the real world, Aries, would love the concept of wielding a sword in her right hand, and casting fire spells from her left!" Vigilon asked Astralin if she had an intended magical build in mind, if there was magic. "Well, I'm pretty sure I would have gone with damage-based magic. Other than that, I would have gone with three basic elements: Fire, Air, and Electricity, possibly delving into the Arcane Arts, should I have had the aptitude. What about you? If you could be a Spellsword, what would your preferred magic branch be?" This topic started to ease Astralin slightly, as the topic was one of the things she loved. Now, she was curious as to what Vigilon's answer would be.
Vigilon 0 Posted August 21, 2019 #10 Share Posted August 21, 2019 Vigilon listened to Astralin's thoughts on his response. "Ahaha, looks like we've both got some rare people cases here, I've got red eyes, and you've got a friend named after a Zodiac Sign! It's actually pretty cool, to be honest, but one quick question, what would it mean as a name? 'ram'? I mean, I can't come up with anything else off the top of my head for that, so..." Astralin would answer Vigilon's question for her, and ask Vigilon what he would do for a magic branch if he could be a spellsword. "...Huh, didn't actually think about that. Maybe I'd go with a small variety, but master fire and one other...I don't know what that other would be, but hey, it's a nice thought to have in mind!" The conversation would continue until the players reached their destination, where an old NPC was at his home, waiting for a player who was willing to take on the quest. Astralin 0 Posted August 21, 2019 Author #11 Share Posted August 21, 2019 Astralin let out a nervous chuckle upon Vigilon's remark, until she heard him say that being named after a Zodiac sign was...cool? He asked about the meaning, since he could only come up with a single possibility. Astralin had to be honest. "Beats me, I honestly don't have a clue. Hm...if you're up for it, you could try guessing my name. You get one hint, aside from the bit that slipped out back there earlier." She would walk a bit faster so that Vigilon could see the symbol on her cape, which would be a bit of a giveaway, but if he didn't realize the hint wasn't in words, he wouldn't figure it out. Turns out, he hadn't thought of what to go with exactly if he was a Spellsword. He must have been so focused on what he could currently do, that he'd all but forgotten what magic was capable of. He only knew the basics of it. Either that, or it was because of his age, from what Astralin could guess. The boy was shorter than her, so she thought he was a teenager. The NPC seemed to be waiting for the players, once they reached their destination.
Vigilon 0 Posted August 21, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 21, 2019 (edited) It was apparent that Astralin didn't have much of a clue, either. "Probably has something to do with determination, I guess." Astralin told Vigilon that he could try and guess her real name if he wanted to. He only knew a sound, a part of the name, and Astralin said he would get one hint. At first, Vigilon assumed it meant the name shard he'd heard, but when he looked at her and saw the white cape with the Constellation symbol of... His eyes widened at the realization, putting two and two together. "No way." He thought aloud to himself. "Your real name is Libra? Wow! I mean...I didn't expect that. To be honest, I kinda think it suits you. Well, you gave your name, so I guess it's fair for me to give mine. My real name is Alex." When the two approached the NPC, Vigilon greeted him like an old friend. "Hello again, I've got yet another student for you. I'm starting to wonder if I'm becoming a guide or something of the like." The NPC laughed at Vigilon's choice of words, then looked over to Astralin. He looked her up and down, then came closer to examine her in detail. "Hmm...very interesting... I usually find powerful warriors, swordsmen who seek greater strength, and budding Martial Artists who wish to perfect their techniques. You do not seem like the others, oh, this will be an interesting test indeed...your task is daunting yet simple, you must destroy that boulder over there using only your hands and fists. I will allow the former student Vigilon to assist you, but remember that it is your task, not his." He pulled out some quick-drying paint and pained whiskers onto Astralin's face. "You cannot remove this paint until your task is finished." Edited August 23, 2019 by Vigilon
Astralin 0 Posted August 22, 2019 Author #13 Share Posted August 22, 2019 Vigilon seemed to be surprised at the guess he came up with. He correctly guessed that her name was Libra, so it was clear that his mom didn't raise any dummies."Mmhm, that's my name!" He would say that he believed the name suited her, which was nice, in comparison to the usual nothing-but-surprise, and the disliked-and-occasional-bullying. It was nice to have her real name be appreciated. "Aw, thanks for the compliment, it really means a lot to me, since my name is kind of rare, not necessarily being used as a person's name often." In exchange for learning Astralin's real name, he would reveal his own. "Oh, you didn't have to do that, but that is a nice name." The NPC, once briefed of the situation by Vigilon, laughed at his words, then walked over to examine Astralin. The NPC seemed to note that Astralin was a bit of a rare case. Astralin looked to her hands, which were kind of delicate. Not exactly looking the part for heavy weapons and physical mass destruction...they were but the hands of a mage who cannot be one. The NPC would explain the task to Astralin, and make whiskers on her face using quick-drying paint. Astralin blinked a few times, then started walking over to the boulder that was her quest target. Vigilon 0 Posted August 22, 2019 #14 Share Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) Astralin seemed to really appreciate Vigilon saying that the name suited her. She told Vigilon that he didn't have to give out his real name, but she did note that it was a nice one. Astralin seemed to look at her hands as the NPC was examining her. Those hands seemed a bit delicate, but that wouldn't change a thing. The avatar's appearance could never change, but the strength and stats could. Astralin kind of blinked a few times upon the whiskers being painted onto her face. The fact that she walked straight over to the boulder either meant that she would get straight to the point, or she just didn't like the whole whiskers thing. Nevertheless, the quest had begun. Vigilon headed over to the boulder. "Here, let me try and make a weak point for you." He managed to strike the boulder with his fist, dealing enough damage to cause a crack to appear on the boulder. Astralin 0 Posted August 22, 2019 Author #15 Share Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) Astralin did NOT like the whole whiskers thing. It wasn't really her style, not to mention she didn't belong in Naruto, or any show relative to that. She now had more than enough motivation to tackle the quest with all that she could. It was nice that Vigilon was indeed able to help, and he would punch the boulder hard enough to deal a fair amount of damage and cause a crack to appear on it. Astralin would get straight to it. She went straight for the crack, punching it right in the middle of it...and the boulder's apparent HP meter would hardly decrease. Astralin stood there, her fist still in contact with the boulder, her eyes widened, and her jaw open in disbelief that the boulder's hp hardly dropped at all. "What...no way... How could I have possibly been capable of doing this alone? And Vigilon was able to do that to the boulder so easily! Is...is this what can be obtained by powering up the skill? ...I will get that skill. I will get that skill and blast away my enemies with my own hands." Vigilon 0 Posted August 23, 2019 #16 Share Posted August 23, 2019 (edited) Vigilon watched Astralin punch the boulder in its crack. Vigilon nodded, knowing that Astralin made the smart move, and that she knew what she was doing. When her jaw dropped in disbelief, Vigilon would give a mild chuckle and add, "Yeah, see, players without the Martial Arts Skill can't do any more damage than one to this thing, aside from critical hits, which would be about two or three damage." He would then crack his knuckles as he said, "Allow me to lighten your load a bit more." He punched the edge of the crack, causing the crack to expand, as another crack formed where Vigilon had struck the boulder. The boulder's HP would turn yellow. "There, now, go ahead and try punching it again." Vigilon knew that he could help her be on her way to destroy the boulder. "Careful though, your attacks won't always damage it. This boulder is hard, and even the most powerful Martial Arts users may occasionally hit the wrong spot of the boulder, and hitting it in the same spot over and over might not work, either." Astralin 0 Posted August 23, 2019 Author #17 Share Posted August 23, 2019 (edited) Astralin listened to Vigilon's explanation, and watched as he would punch another crack onto the boulder. "I see..." Astralin would listen to the rest of what Vigilon had to say, and would punch the spot where the two cracks connected. She dealt three times as much damage as she did with her first hit. "Oh, was that critical? It looks like the damage I dealt was better than the last time I hit it." The crack that Astralin had struck expanded slightly, probably because of the damage she managed to do this time around. "It won't be long now. Based on how much damage he was able to deal, I'm sure I can handle the rest of the boulder once he manages to hit it. Now, how to break it....no, better, I'll completely shatter it!" Astralin smiled, keeping this positive thought in mind. "Alright then," Astralin noted. "It's your move." Vigilon 0 Posted August 23, 2019 #18 Share Posted August 23, 2019 (edited) Vigilon watched as Astralin struck the right spot, and dealt critical damage, too. She asked about whether or not it was critical, since the damage she dealt this time was greater than what she had accomplished the last time she punched the rock. "Wait, so this is your first critical hit? Oh. Right. No weapon, sorry. But hey, you hit a good spot." Vigilon noted. "Now, allow me to make it even easier once more." He would punch a spot where the two cracks' expansions lead to, making it a grand total of three cracks on the boulder. Three fair hits would break it, two good hits ought to destroy it, and one epic punch would definitely shatter it. Vigilon backed away, leaving plenty of room for Astralin. "There. Well, it looks like I can't do it any further. The rest is aaaaaalllllll yours." Vigilon said with a smile. He couldn't wait to see how Astralin would finish off the boulder. Astralin 0 Posted August 24, 2019 Author #19 Share Posted August 24, 2019 (edited) Astralin heard Vigilon note about how her attack was her first critical hit. He would then take the chance to lighten her burden one last time, punching the boulder, dealing considerable damage, and making another crack, the punches that made the cracks forming in a triangular pattern. Vigilon would state that the rest was all on her. At least the boulder's HP was now red, almost zero. It should take little effort to finish the task. She punched in the center of the space between the cracks, and all she did was deal a single point of damage, and cause a small crack to form in the center. The boulder seemed to now be more fragile, due to the damage it had taken. The HP would still adhere to the system, obviously, but the structure of the boulder was now susceptible to more cracks, most likely due to it's weakened state. Vigilon 0 Posted August 24, 2019 #20 Share Posted August 24, 2019 (edited) Vigilon watched as Astralin struck the boulder again. Not the best spot was picked, but not a bad one, either. "That's it, just a little more. It's all your show, now. Give it all you've got. One or two more hits should do it, so do your best!" Vigilon backed away a bit further. "I won't let you out of my sight, but I'm gonna see if there's anything around." Vigilon would see a large stone that couldn't have possibly been one of the training boulders. He would push it(with some difficulty, of course) away a few feet, and under the stone was a chest! "Ha!" He would back up slightly. "Hey, I found a chest! If there's anything inside, I'll split it with you! I think I can handle it if it's a mimic, so don't worry!" He called out to Astralin. "I really hope that this doesn't turn out to be another imprisoned mimic..." ID# 122508 LD: 18+1=19(found a chest!) Edited August 25, 2019 by Vigilon
