It had been quite a while since Bahr had visited his dear old friend in the caves of the floor he called home. But his recent acquisition in the fight against the obsidian dragon had given him reason to once again seek out the flamboyant violet-haired youth. With careful footwork, Bahr made his way through the network of caves, eventually happening upon the hidden shop after a few wrong turns.

"Long time, no see," Bahr remarked as he sauntered into the shop, summoning his menu and navigating to the inventory, the unidentified sword materializing moments later as the panels were dispelled. He placed it on the table and peered into the eyes of his silent interlocutor. "Need this one figured out."

With wary eyes, Jackpot watched as the familiar traveler entered his shop. Far too often had Bahr gotten away with things for free, but no longer. As the weapon was placed in front of him, and Bahr laid his expectant gaze upon Jackpot, he couldn't help but scoff.

"No. Nuh-uh. Coin first. Then I'll get to work."

With eyes furrowed as though by genuine hurt, Bahr slowly relented at produced the col. Satisfied, Jackpot got to work. After several failed attempt to get its final attribute identified, Paralyze was finally settled on, and Jackpot returned the blade.

"It's a pretty thing, but I'm afraid it's not terribly powerful," Jackpot concluded thoughtfully. "No refunds."

Oz hated he tenth floor. Not only was it dim and dreary, but the mobs here were much too powerful for someone such as himself to contend with. He was forced to sneak around like a goon, avoiding anything and anyone in the hopes that he could make it from point A to point B unperturbed. But for someone like Oz, whose luck was chronically unfavorable, this was rarely the case. Today was one such day.

While trying to escape some of the floor's nasties, he happened upon a door and flung himself inside. It seemed that the mobs had missed his, and he was able to hear them scuttling past as though still in pursuit of the verdant-clad fellow. With a sigh of relief, he turned, and found himself within a shop of sorts.

"Oh. Hello, there," he mumbled, taking a brief glance around the shop. It seemed this was the sort of dude who would be able to appraise unidentified items. A happy accident to run into him, then, as Oz had recently come into possession of quite a few of those.

"I'm looking to get these identified," he stated, summoning his inventory and navigating a few panels until the weapons materialized on the countertop. "I've got some coin..."

To Oz's surprise, it seemed the violet-haired fellow didn't desire any payment. First time, on the house. Now this was the sort of naivety Oz could get behind. "If you insist," he replied. "I won't argue. But I'll save my guarantees to advertise for you until after I've seen what you're capable of, it that's alright."

It seemed Oz's reservations were unfounded. Before his very eyes, he watched the goofy appraiser turn his junk into more Uniques he'd ever seen in one place. A mere novelty, he was sure, for the higher-leveled players that skulked around the upper floors. But for someone like him, relegated to Safe Zones for almost his entire stay in Aincrad, all he could see was treasure.

"Yeah, I'd say you earned that advertisement," remarked Oz as he took the newly minted items into his inventory. "And my business. You'll be seeing more of me in the future, I guarantee it."

After Oscar's dissociative looting spree, he decided that now was a good time to get himself a weapon that enemies could actually feel. His standard weapon hadn't failed him and it was very good for tanking. But it didn't fill that niche for something with a little oomph. So it was time to brave the spiders and go to that cave that no one every looked at on the floor no one ever went to. A click of the tongue prefaced his following declaration. "If I didn't need the business, I might tell you to fuck off. Oscar looked over the items that Jackpot had managed to produce. There was definitely plenty to work with here. He made his selections from the assembly, picking out those with enhancements that he might be able to get some use out of. The bar was high, set against The Vampire as it was. But, he saw plenty of potential here. Oscar added more Col to the pile to fun the Appraiser's work before turning toward the door. "I'm gonna make a quick pit stop and get these worked into something useful. Feel free to take your time on this next order." As Oscar stepped out of the shop, he raised one hand above his head and snapped his finger. His echoing cackle could be just barely heard over the din of heavy plate armor raining down upon Jackpot's shop.

Jackpot stared at the pile left behind by Oscar for a long, long time. How'd he gone from no business to too much business to know what to do with?

Although the coin was nice. Real nice. And Oscar had said to take his time on it. And so he did. So much time, in fact, that he completely forgot it. Several things occupied the forefront of his mind, instead. That beautiful sandwich that had been sitting in his inventory for some time. A lovely nap, not much unlike the one he'd been taking before Oscar arrived. An enthusiastic session of solo ping-pong paddling.

All at once, the knowledge of his looming workload rushed back to him. Oscar would likely be back any moment. He feverishly rushed through the armors, perhaps too quickly. Only one Unique Enhancement made itself known to him.

No sooner had he identified the final piece of equipment than Oscar came strolling through his door once more.

"Aha, yeah! Working hard. Haaaaarrrd working going on here. Yup." Not completely untruthful, as the last ten minutes or so had been quite busy. "Only one you might like is this one," Jackpot indicated, hoisting up a flaming chestplate. "The rest were pretty mid."

Last time Oz had come here, Jackpot had managed to identify some pretty neat stuff in the equipment he'd provided. It was trued that that big-chested woman over at the Black Odyssey had managed to do a bit more, but Jackpot had been cheap. Free, in fact. It wasn't like the violet-haired goon was bad, per se, and Oz had recently come into yet another collection of unassorted goods. He figured bringing his business back here would be a good way to pay the guy back for his hard work.

Oscar could have opened a shop with the sheer amount of swords that were junking up his inventory. But he was no Appraiser. It was Jackpot's job to handle that nonsense. Oscar had located the strongest twine in the game and bound two dozen of the things together into a neat bundle. A neat bundle that was then javelin-tossed through the mouth of the cave that served as Jackpot's front door. The swords slammed into the counter like so many darts, remaining stuck in the front. Another day, another gargantuan pile of identifications to sift through. Although it was more work than Jackpot was used to, he was beginning to find that he was stepping back into his old stride. A pile like this would have taken him a considerable length of time to push through only a couple of weeks ago, but now his fingers slid over the artifacts and identified their worth with ease. The vast majority were junk, but occasionally he would find a diamond in the rough. This particular batch had a few, but none that filled the criteria for what the customer was looking for.

Jackpot melted it all down and took back whatever scraps he could from the lot. Maybe the next batch would fare better.

There Jackpot stood with yet another pile of rapiers. And just as with the last, most of these ones were useless.

Most of them.

There was one standout in particular - a golden little thing with a glimmer that seemed otherworldly. Even in the dimly lit cavern in which Jackpot carried out his work, its thin blade refracted light in a multicolored mosaic against the walls. He gave the artifact a few swings, appreciating its balance and the whistle it made while carving through the tepid air. After a few swings, he placed the rapier on the counter in preparation for Oscar's eventual return.

The rest was total trash, though.

Enough was enough. It was time to end this. Time to identify a blade so holy and magnificent that it was sure to have a name and description like no other. Something like Stormquard Spellblade. Or Spiteblade, Etcher of the West. There was no way in hell that Jackpot could dump nine Mystic Essences into a rapier and have it come out with some basic ass name and description that only seemed to serve the powers that be, who were the ones pulling the strings behind the veil all along.

So when he saw it was labeled "Fusion Component," he almost wept.
