[F17 - SP] Athena's Grace <<Challenge Of Olympus: Artisan>>

Recommended Posts

So, with the silver laying on the table, she started to slowly chip out the outline of this charm. She knew that she was going to need two pieces of materials to get this done. So she technically only had two mistakes left to make. She wasn't going to mess up again. She couldn't. Taking a deep breath, she slowly started to chip away the part of the charm that was going to connect the two animals. She was taking this slow. One wrong move and this piece would blow up as well. She didn't want that to happen at all. So, here she was, head bent down over her current craft. Her fingers deftly tracing out where each little detail was going to go with a pencil. She wanted the outlines to help her. She wanted to be able to have something to follow. That was going to ensure that she didn't mess up as much, she hoped.

The tracing and planning seemed to be going well for her this time. Things were being drawn out, and all that was going to need to be done was the actual engraving of the designs. That was going to be the difficult part. She stopped her tracing and looked everything over. She even managed to make an outline of the chain from the same piece, so that gave her one extra try in case things go dicey. That line was good, that line shouldn't be a problem. Oh but this one will, she quickly started to erase and create new lines to make sure that things were going to go according to plan. She was going to be the first person in a while to finish this challenge. She just knew it. But it all depended on her luck right now on the actual work that needed to be done. She couldn't just hand in something that was outlined, it didn't work like that.

With the outline completely finished, she grabbed the tools. It was time to start the hard part. The pristine precision of carving and chiseling and just about anything else that one might be able to think a jeweler does to make jewelry. She noticed that Athena wasn't working, but more just watching her. Wait, did that mean that the Goddess was already done? Noctua took a moment to peak over at Athena's workshop and noticed that the Goddess hadn't even started yet. Wait, this wasn't a good sign for Noct was it? Then again, Athena was a master at this, so she probably wasn't going to need all five materials or anything to get a perfect piece of jewelry. A soft sigh came from her as she looked down at the material in front of her. Okay, it is time to prove to your idol that you can do this. You will do this.

Taking the chisel to the first mark, she gently pushed down to get rid of the parts that she didn't need. It was going well, and soon enough, she had all of the access material out of the way. Perfect. This was going to go perfectly. She was going to get this craft done the second time. That was going to be the golden plan right? She took a deep breath and started to chisel away at the design. Wanting this to go perfectly. But something made a sound behind her, which caused her to jump, which means that her movement just messed up the craft. Looking down, she saw nothing there anymore and she groaned then. This was going to be very very close wasn't it.

Okay, this was okay. She still had two materials left. The one she was now going to be working on, and one last piece. She was going to get this done, there was no true worry about that. She just needed to buckle down, ignore everything around her, and just focus. That can happen, that will happen. She started off once more with make the basic outline of the necklace. She knew that this was the way to get. It worked for her before, if only something hadn't scared her before, she probably would be close to done by now. Noct, stop thinking on those things, it isn't going to help you do this challenge at all. In fact, it will just distract you in the worst way possible, and you don't need that.

Inner thoughts, weren't they lovely? They happened all of the time, but most of the time, they weren't distracting. Well, this time, they were. She hadn't even finished chipping away the excess material when it went poof. She stared at the spot and started to wonder what it was that she had done wrong. But there was probably no true reason to tell her what had happened this time. "You are thinking on it too much and rushing. Calm down and focus. That is all the advice that I will give." With that, Athena went to her workstation and started to work on her own piece of jewelry. Noct looked at Athena and wondered if advice like that was supposed to be given, or if Athena just wanted to see Noct succeed. Either way, it got her hopes up, and she looked at the final material that she had left.

Okay Christelle, yeah, you are pumping yourself up by using your real name. You can do this and you know it. Noct nodded lightly as she thought these things to herself. She knew that she could do this. She decided to take Athena's advice though and she didn't plan or think on it. She let her hands do the work that they knew they could do. It took an hour for the owl to be completed. This owl seemed to go by quickly to her though. She didn't know what all she was to expect from that. She took a small break to look at the work in progress necklace. Her tiny break was over now and she went back to work. Instead of working on the wolf though, she started to chip away at the chain. Get that right into pristine condition.

It only took her thirty minutes to get the chain done. That was sweet short and simple. But now was the final part that she needed to do, the wolf. She took a deep breath as she looked at the unfinished wolf before she started to work on it. The wolf, well, that took three whole hours. The details that were going into it were amazing. She was making sure that each piece of fur was in the right spot and that each paw was correctly chiseled. When she looked at the finished product, she nearly cried from the perfection of it. All she had to do now was make the enhancements. She knew exactly which ones that she was going to put.

Grabbing three gems, two rubies and one sapphire, she set to work. Three ambition enhancements later, she was gently putting the gems into the slots for the two animals eyes. She leaned back and smiled at the finished project. Even if Athena ended up not liking it, she at least finished the craft that was needed for the challenge.

"Now that, that is perfection." Noct didn't jump this time, perhaps it was because she was so focused and hyper vigilant that she didn't need to worry about being scared. She looked up at Athena though and smiled, "Thank you. I actually made it for you." She watched the shock cross the Goddess' face and it seemed to make Noct happier than she had been just moments before. "Thank you for the beautiful gift Noctua. Since you did pass all three of my challenges, I do think you have earned your reward as well." Wait, she passed?! That was awesome! She watched as Athena took the necklace before going to a cabinet that Noctua had missed. She placed the necklace in there before grabbing something else and coming back to Noct. Athena handed the item to Noctua before motioning for her to leave. Guess that was Noct's queue to just go home. She smiled lightly before waving awkwardly to the Goddess.

Outside of the workshop the Satyr was standing there waiting. Without a word he started to escort her back to town. It was a silent trip and Noct was reading up on the item that she just got for besting Athena. Though, could it really be called that? She didn't know, but she still walked. Soon enough, she was back in down and teleported back down to the Town of Beginnings. Home. Now back to the shop to put her prize on a shelf and she checked to see if Koga was around. Not seeing him, she instead just went to work cleaning the shelves and making sure that the shop was clean.
