This was what happened with Basuke, a boy poorly named after basketball. When life took the cue of irony and made him short upon growing up, he decided to resent his parents' pity. He just wanted to see them happy, and that name became something to reclaim, to redefine and live up to. Basuke lived his life as an influencer-to-be, never an influencer-as-is. He uploaded videos of his card collection before switching over to online games, where he is known to flaunt shiny new costumes monthly on different titles and characters. His emphasis on self-presentation fed into the path of him partaking in hypebeast culture. Given that money wasn't an issue for his wealthier family, Basuke made quick work in collecting branded goods that fit his aesthetic. In school, he often only saw fair-weathered friends due to his differing lifestyle of luxury and non-essentials. Perceiving other students for outcasting him on the basis of not having enough -- likewise, he wasn't sure where to place his trust, unsure if they were solely after his money or otherwise. That was part of why he turned to an online circle, aside from the lack of comfort from his family.  When Sword Art Online was announced, Basuke found himself quietly skipping a day of school, queuing outside his local game shop at wee hours of the morning. The boy was camping for a copy of the game, returning home with his procured goods around noon, and launching himself into a world he wasn't going to return from for a long, long time. VIRTUES&FLAWS Spoiler VIRTUES CONFIDENT No one else should get a chance to define Basuke for who he is. He's faced challenges about his identity, and knows himself better than anyone else. He's quick to shut down anyone who thinks they can instill doubt in him about himself. INDEPENDENT Growing up, lacking trust was one thing he had gotten used to by the time he entered the game. He's capable of thinking for himself and charting his own course. By being on his lonesome, he can prove to others of his own strength; better them to seek him out than the other way around. SOCIABLE Basuke's earnestly present for a good time, if perhaps not a long one. He's open to meeting new people and seeking out new experiences, even if he keeps them at a distance. That cheery persona is what allows him to carry potential as an influencer, even if it is towards a small audience. FLAWS FIERCE Maybe it's in his appearance, or otherwise his words and actions. There's an intense anger behind his presentation, though sometimes it's hard to tell why. At best, it's nothing, perhaps a mild annoyance on occasion; at its worst, he might seem as though he's picking a fight with you straight up. UNINTELLIGENT Basuke tries his best to understand things, but sometimes the man just doesn't have enough clues to understand information. He's also had little exposure to the outside world beyond internet culture and gaming. Simply put: Basuke requires a lot of terms and words to be explained to him; something that he took for granted of his now absent. IMPULSIVE "Don't Think Twice" might as well have been his motto, if he even knew what it was. Basuke can't help but wear his heart on his sleeve, and likewise, follow it along, because who else would he choose to listen to? This has resulted in a boy who acts before he realizes the consequences. Pray for him, and hope he gets better. NOTES Spoiler Basuke's dad is Japanese, while his mom is Korean. When his parents got married, they moved to live in Korea. Basuke's initial faceclaim was original, with black spikey hair; this is his IRL appearance, and the closest approximation to it is Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto. Basuke champions Supreme and Yeezys. Basuke's aesthetic relies on soft, pastel colours (pink, grey). Basuke's a furry, but he won't tell you that to your face. He might show it to you, however, if he can get his hands on a fursuit of some kind. Basuke is incredibly familiar with cutesy talk like owo, uwu and xD. He might not hesitate to use it amongst others familiar with the lingo. Basuke's partner-in-hypebeasting is a man named Giordano Giovanni. It's also how he gets his hands on the latest goods, besides already having the cash to do so. STORY SO FAR Spoiler Spends two years fighting a rock. Immediately undergo character change requiring a personality overhaul that's long overdue. Meet a variety of people: NIGHT, Randall, Andromeda, amongst others. Find a Tsuchinoko. Name it the worst thing ever. Participate in a variety of events for zero reason other than, "Hey, that's new and cool. Bet." Get introduced to Demian. Hang around him like a lost puppy, because this is 7 Minutes in Heaven.

A round, fat, short yellow snake, striped with brown all around its body. Its body is larger than its head, and it has a tiny dark tail. With two beady black eyes and a diamond-shaped mouth, this tiny, hardy creature hides in Basuke's front hoodie pocket.
