[F1 - R3 Performer] Tala's Cover's and Originals

Recommended Posts

header-studio-quiz-v2.jpg

In an unassuming little corner of the Town of Beginnings, whilst walking through the alleys, one might come across two signs placed side by side each other. One read "The Ring and Sword" with the shop's logo on it..."Bah, what a lame store..." one might say, but upon looking at the other sign, which reads 'Tala's Covers and Originals', surrounded by some painted musical notes. "Now that's a shop I should go into and buy things at!" you might say before walking into the store. Instruments line the walls, and displays cases fill to the brim with crystals of various colors. An alto saxophone in particular sits right by the counter where a young woman with raven-black fair stands, "Welcome to my shop! Feel free to look around and take a listen!"

Performers can make the following types of items:

  • Support Songs (Available at Rank 1): Utility songs to increase luck, and healing songs to recover HP, both are useful buffs to have for a party.
  • Debuff Songs (Available at Rank 2): Songs used to weaken your enemies, these are the Performer's niche.

Making/Using Performer Crafts:
Songs made by Performers are stored on recording crystals. Despite the name, these crystals are different from those made by Alchemists as they just need one material to craft and typically require a post action to use.

Leveling Up:
Gaining EXP and increasing your Performer Rank increases the Tier level and number of items you can craft each day.

  • Perfect crafts: +8 EXP

Crafting Die Result Chart:
As your Performer rank increases, the crafting die result chart changes, making it less likely for you to fail and more likely to succeed on higher-quality crafts. Performers have a chance on successful crafts to produce a Masterpiece song. When submitting a Masterpiece for evaluation, specify one of the following effects to apply to the song:

  • "Mass": The song effects the maximum number of targets possible. (4/6 players in a regular/boss party, or up to 4 enemies)
  • "Instant": The song does not require a post action to use.

She looked around the newly finished studio and she smiled lightly. This was exactly how she saw herself when getting out of this game now. In a recording studio with her alto saxophone. She had grabbed it from the front just for the occasion. She felt like playing the sax into some crystals to try and get some more stock on the shelves. Some people liked just instrumental stuff, so this was going to be the best start to that. Plus, she loved playing the saxophone. She started off with a smooth jazz piece that she had been practicing, but that crystal broke. Oh well, on to the next, only for it to break as well. No one said that this was going to be easy.

Her bad luck with this was going to stop soon right? At least, that is what she was hoping as she started to get ready for her attempts today. She worked on grabbing everything and putting it where she wanted it, only to grab the crystals last. Today was going to work, hopefully. Closing off the recording studio, she looked at the first crystal before attempting to sing a song. Shatter. Grabbed the next crystal, played the alto saxophone. Shatter. Well, it seems that she really didn't have good luck with crafting. Oh well, doesn't mean that she can't try again tomorrow.

Right, another new day to try this out. It had taken her a bit when she was taking the quest for this, so she figured that it was still going to take her a bit outside of that. Only now she had to be careful because she didn't have unlimited materials at her disposal. Oh well, mistakes can be learned from. All of this was thought as she got the studio ready for her sessions today. The first attempt, she decided to sing an original song again, and managed to get an uncommon song made, yay! The second crystal, well, that one shattered.

Setting up the studio was simple today. She didn't plan on singing. It was going to be a pure instrumental day today, mainly because she felt like trying new things to try and get a song crafted. She wasn't going to get any business without some songs after all. Tala made sure that things were set up and settled before she sat down in front of the crystal with her alto saxophone. The first song of the day, a soft little jazz tune, something that she loved to just play when she was alone. The crystal didn't like it though. Her second attempt was a faster jazz piece and it wasn't until she was in the solo did the crystal seemed to accept the song that she was trying to create.

Another new day, she wanted to try her luck once more. Only she still didn't feel like singing, so she grabbed her alto saxophone. She got set up and settled before she set up the first crystal. Classical music. That was the jam today. She started off slow with the song before the first crystal took the song and she smiled after a break. Time for the second crystal. Just a few minutes later that one was crafted as well. Today managed to be a god day, would you look at that. She put everything away and went to put her two new songs on the shelves for sale.

She was trying to figure out what she wanted to do today. She knew that it was going to be a support song, but she was curious as to what she was going to end up making it. Eh, work out those details after they are made. Simple thought, simple plan. Here was to hoping that it worked. She figured that she could do some singing today though, that never hurt right? So, starting off with a cover of one of her favorite songs, she watched as the crystal started to take it, before failing. At least it didn't break right? So she tried again, only with an original and well, that one didn't take either, but didn't break. All in all, at least she didn't lost any materials today.

Tala grabbed her alto saxophone and went right to the back. She wasn't feeling like a classical mood, in fact, she was feeling more of a daring and angry kind of mood. Before you ask, yes an alto saxophone can have that kind of mood, it just depends on how you play the instrument. She grabbed the rest of her supplies and the two crystals that she was going to need today. Time to get started. Her first attempt at the song involved a quick failure. Yeah, she had a feeling that was going to happen. The second craft, she failed and tried to salvage the crystal, only for that to shatter as well. Huh, guess she just needs a bit more practice.

She already had everything set up that she was going to need for the day. She wasn't in the mood to sing, and even if she had wanted to sing, everything that was on her mind right now was depressing. Probably not the best thing for a support song right. So, instead, she was opting for another alto saxophone day. That was probably going to be best since that would sound better in any kind of mood. Sitting down, she started on the first crystal, only for it to reject the song. Figures. The second crystal though, it took the song, and even managed to become a masterpiece of a craft. Well, wasn't that something.

How can one happily make songs when you do two things, destroy your brothers trust not only in yourself but in his girlfriend, and toss aside the one person who was always on your side? Well, Tala didn't know but that is what she was gunning to work around still. But so far, it wasn't going well for her at all. The first craft was a complete failure, second was a failed salvage. But just as she was about to put her stuff away for the day, she noticed that she had gone up a rank and was now able to do two more crafts. Why not? So she sat down and worked, her third becoming an uncommon song and the final failing. At least she got something.

Randal had been looking for a performer who was willing to craft a particular crystal for him, as he walked along the many shops in the town of beginnings, he found his way to a little corner of the town where a central area of shops could be found.

Wondering into “Tala’s Covers and Orginals”, he decided to give this place a chance, after all, the interior filled with musical instruments of all kinds could be found which inspired a certain amount of confident in the owner.

Randal walked up to the counter and placed his order form and his contact information for any updates should she have them.

Oh look, she has a request. She didn't think anyone would come by while she was on the seventeenth floor doing that challenge but someone did. Either way, she put the Apollo's Lyre up before she looked at the request. Ah, this was the same thing that she was thinking of crafting for herself but didn't. She was certain that she would be able to get it done for someone else. So, she grabbed her materials and started upon her new project of getting this request done. Out of the four crafts, she got one uncommon and one rare song. That wasn't horrible, perhaps that challenge had been worth it.

She was still going to work on that request. She didn't realize yet that she didn't have the sound that was needed until the end of the day though. This was mainly because she took another look at the request just to be sure. So, she knew that she was going to have to go and get the sounds, that could be done tomorrow. So in the mean time, she looked at the three failed crafts and the one uncommon. Not great, but not horrible. She could work with it for today, but she needed to do better. Only way to do that was to practice.

She still had that order to make and she was determined to get it done. It was a very specific sound that was wanted, so it had taken her some time just to get a vanity song crystal with the wanted sounds. But, now that she had it, she was ready to try and apply it to an actual song crystal. The first try, took to it right away. It wasn't a masterpiece, but it was still complete. So she sent a quick message to @Randal to let him know that he was able to come and grab his support song. Once the message was sent, she started on a second craft for the day, only for that to be a rare masterpiece. Not horrible, she would take the results for the day.

Randal got the message for the shop he had visited not too Long ago regarding the song that he wanted, to help him get a pet easier, with it playing in the background while he searched.

Randal made his way down to the shop and promptly accepted the craft from the station, listening to it for a bit, he felt like the song was calling to his primal instinct, appreciative of the effort that just have been put into making to song, Randal promptly made the transaction and pocketed his new item.

What stopped Basuke from strolling down the streets was the blacksmithy sign. And then he examined his sword, shaking his head, but turning the corner.

Then there were music notes. Perfect! There was a really silly, incredibly dumb idea he wanted to try out, and he burst through the studio doors in excitement. "Bro--!"

Oh right he was in public. Two years absence, and he'd already forgotten his manners. He cleared his throat, trying to calm himself down, and sauntered up to the request counter. More lodu scribbling later, and he submitted the paper over to the artist, twiddling his thumbs in awful joy.

"Oh Tala~"

There came a sing-song voice, as NIGHT strolled into the shop. Something in her gait felt off, but an all confident smile put anyone's fears to fade. "I haven't seen you in a while! How're you doing? I hope everything's going okay."

"I need a favour," she said, leaning up against the counter, crossing her arms. With a swift movement, she brought down the request form from its stack, and jotted down what she'd needed. "It'll be a cover of a song I used to know. I've got a music sheet in here some where..." The woman checked her bag by her waist, pulling out a slender stack of papers, setting them beside her form and continuing to note things down.

"And... there. That should do it." A motion, now slower, to stack the pages together and hand them over, her face plastered with an unrelenting smile. "Oh-- and, here's payment, of course." The woman brought out a pouch of materials. "There's a little extra inside. My treat."

"Bro--!" Tala looked up, startled, as she looked to see who it was that entered her shop so..happily. It was a nice change really. He didn't say much else besides just writing down his request. She looked it over and nodded lightly, "I'll start working on it right away, I'll send a message your way once I get it finished." She was going to have to go searching for the track that she had for this request, but it was going to get done. Just as she was getting ready to go and do that request, a second person came in. That's odd. She turned to see that it was NIGHT and she smiled at the woman. She took the music sheet and she nodded. "Sure thing, and thank you! I've got one request before your's but I'll get started on it soon I promise. Once it's ready I'll send you a message!." She quickly went into the studio and started to hunt down that song. Hours later, she had three failed salvages and a single perfect to account for the session. She sent Basuke a message letting him know that he could come and get his song, and tomorrow she would start on her friend's request.

It's done! Basuke couldn't wait to test it out. He'll finally have seen the swarming effects on animals upon hearing running water. Then, when they were all there in a pack, he'd be able to pick out one that matched his aesthetic. It was gonna be great!

"Hey hey!" He sang, as he came in through the door again. The sounds he'd wanted were tied to a lovely blue cuboid of a crystal with silver fragments on it. Perfect! The boy didn't even think to ask for instructions and picked up the item with a bright smile. "Thank you very much, Tala!"

She smiled gently when Basuke had come to get his song. She was glad that she was able to make someone happy with her work. "No problem, come back anytime!" She watched as he left before she went back into the back. It was time to work on the other order now. She wanted to give NIGHT the best version of this cover that she could, but it was also going to be difficult because RNG hates her. By the time she ended the session today, she had made two uncommon songs, one of them actually being a masterpiece, sweet. But no song for NIGHT today, so she would just have to try again tomorrow.
