[F1 - R5 Appraiser] Pandora's Wares | OPEN.

"—So all in all that would be..."

Their light flickered as she made her way down her written list, partly keeping an eye on the merchant who was giving her utmost to confirm the content and amount of each bundle as fast as Arabelle read it. It was a little past midnight, and everything was scattered on the floor. She was certain a number of her crystals were destined to simply join the clutter.

But what did she care? It was part of the agreement, and the girl's enthusiasm was adorable.

"...And a single [Snake Venom] buff. That one is a unique."

An tossed the sac to her side with a finality and immediately fell back onto the floor with a weak cheer. "Waaa— I can't believe we're done!!" Seated in proper seiza style across her, Arabelle smiled and tore up her list in a gesture that shared the same sentiment. "Finally..."

"That took a little while longer than I thought, but that's my side of the deal fulfilled."

An rolled onto her side, peering up at Arabelle as she moved to stand.

“So… why me?”

She was all fluid and grace with her movements, and the metaphor An would’ve used to describe it completely escaped her when Arabelle’s lips curled into an amused smirk. “I’d only be repeating what I said the other night. But I’d tell you again, if you want it.”

“I don’t know,” An huffed. Sweeping the piles aside, she pulled herself up and thumbed the surface of Arabelle’s empty record crystal. Her reflection frowned thoughtfully back at her. “I took photos maybe just a little more than any regular person did on the other side, so say I assume this crystal can hold up to fifty–”

“–A hundred.”

An blinked.

For a brief moment, the other's expression was unreadable. “I told you yesterday.”

“S-Still, even with a hundred..!” she quickly amended, a soft red flush rising up her face, “Is it worth as much as all of your support crystals?”

"I know what a fair trade is, An." Wandering a little further down rows of disorderly shelves, Arabelle found an empty space and set down a smaller pouch. “Junk sale. Do this later, please. I’ve kept you up too late.” And she turned to face An, hands tucked behind her back, her smile unwavering. “It’s a bit of a gamble, I’ll admit. But trust in your beloved Senpai’s judgment, alright? If it works the way we wanted it to, I’ll give you the full story… perhaps.”

How could a hundred pictures of Aincrad be a part of a gamble?

“If you’re looking for inspiration,” the girl said with a note of finality as she turned away. “The event might be the best place to start.”

Koga couldn't remember the last time he'd stepped back into this shop. To be fair he hadn't really stepped anywhere outside his shop for the past few months, but still. He wondered if the same shopkeep was still the one running this place. She had always seemed nice, if a little flustered and in over her head. But nice.

The man walked up to the counter and was pleased to see it was indeed the same girl. "Hey, uhm I was wondering if I could buy eight Tier One Materials please. I could...really use them at this point..." Honestly, with the luck Koga had had lately...he'd probably be by tomorrow for another eight if he wasn't broke by then...

Eh? Has she seen this person before? Behind the trade window, An frowned slightly, attempting to put a name to his face but coming up blank. It was a quick transaction though; only eight materials, and the merchant had to wonder if he was just that broke or insanely confident with his own crafting rates. She hoped it was the latter. Being broke was not-nice.

“Eight tier one materials!” the merchant hummed as she traded the amount to him. “Thanks, and please come by again!”

Now how much did that shop from the other day charge for a bowl of ramen…?

Call it a desperate maneuver, or perhaps a moment of motivation. For whatever reason, NIGHT had decided she'd sat at peace with her lot of unidentified items for long enough, taking the important bulk of her stored haul over to the cosmic fortune that was Pandora's Wares.

Fingers crossed. She had an important request to be made today.

"Identifications," the player started. It had to be a mix of hope, concern and folly trapped within her violet gaze, the singular give away that her request was not-at-all of deep-rooted confidence. A trade of the equipment via a window, alongside a number of stored consumables.

"I hope these would help. Let me know if you find anything of interest. And..."

Her eyes fell to the demonic weapon.

"... Do be careful with how you handle that one."

Another familiar shop, just before the boss fight. Night had found an amazing piece of armor that she had gifted to Yuki, telling her that she would be able to find it here in Andromeda's shop. She could only assume it was the aura that she's been looking for for awhile now and if it was, she might just have to actually kiss Andromeda this time for her insane luck with getting unique equipment.

"Hey An, I'm picking up and item that Night said you identified. I'm guess it has an aura on it." She said, letting Andromeda grab said Light Armor for her. "Light Armor? I haven't worn that ever. Well, and Aura is an Aura Light or Heavy. Thanks An, have a nice day."

the merchant hummed a happy little tune as she arranged NIGHT's shiny new equipment on the counter. except she couldn't possibly fit half a dozen greatswords and katanas on the narrow top, so she summoned the strength she'd possessed when she and a squad of noobs beat a trebuchet to death and shoved a couple of closed crates together to form a makeshift extension. all in all, Pandora's Wares was somehow even more cramped than before, but she was happy with the results of her appraisal and she was sure NIGHT would be too.

she sent off a PM following up on the status of the frontliner's request and settled down on a chair with a cup of tea.

Shion was walking around Looking for a place it was quite late already and Shion looked around to see where to go. There was a store she liked to look off, on the door was a sigh and Shion smiled knowing this shop was open. Walking in she was greeted by a girl younger than her, but somewhere in her head she recognized the face of the player but didn't know from where any more

"Hello there,  I came to ask if you are willing to identify some items I have on me. Don't be shocked by the number of items they are, I had them quite a bit stacked up. I can give you an extra bonus for the payment if needed, I got quite a bit of col as well that you can sell the items I dont want if it comes to that." She said to the girl with a smile

Perfection. A slew of items that NIGHT could only hope Crozeph would be delighted with, especially for that copy of her jacket he'd found the other day.

Not that she particularly knew what to do with the thing, but the player was up for taking any signs from Cardinal about its repetition in items where she could.

The player gathered the newfound toys and nodded to the merchant with a faint grin. As wonderful conversation would be, knowing there was another that Andromeda would be kept busy with, she didn't want to interrupt their conversation even for a minute. The essence of time was but a treasurable gift.

So too was the collection of col that flooded NIGHT's wallet on her way out.

Koga walked into the shop hunched over, he may as well have been staring at the ground. Actually, he was staring at the ground...Not that that mattered. What did matter were the roughly five or six large sacks the man had slung over his shoulder, all clanking noisily with a variety of gear and weapons. The man smiled sheepishly at the merchant he doubted remembered him in the slightest. "So, uh, do you mind junkselling all this?" he asked before setting the bags down with heavy thuds. "I'm so sorry about this," he apologized, knowing the sheer quantity was probably going to be very annoying for the poor girl.

To Sell:

Koga walked back into the shop, surprisingly without bags full of items to junk sell, a truly peculiar sight indeed. Nope, this time, he was here to make an actual purchase. Crazy. Buying things from a merchant...what a concept.

Koga walked up to the counter with a smile and greeted the woman before ordering. "Hi, uh, could I get some Tier Two Materials please? Ten of them, if you have them?" Finally, Koga wouldn't feel quite so bad about bringing the woman thirty plus items to junk sell...he imagined having to deal with something like that would be extremely annoying.

Sending Andromeda 6,500 Col for (10) T2 Materials

She didn’t have to live test her new weapon to decide two out of its three enhancements were not to her liking.

She just didn’t.

So out of [The Black Odyssey] she went. …And straight into another appraiser’s closed shop. The entrance was an easy bypass; being a secondhand lot that was practically on the verge of falling apart, a lot of things didn’t function as they should in Andromeda’s shop – and one of those happened to be the lock. Wiggle the doorknob a little and it comes free. A dragged-out creak followed the swing of the front door, and Arabelle’s ashen eyes were greeted with the familiar sight of Andromeda’s wealth of useless baubles.

“Um. Hello, miss?”

The appraiser herself was peeking out from behind the turn that led to the counter, smiling, despite her obvious confusion. Arabelle hadn’t hassled her at all recently, and the time had clearly not been long enough for there to be any observable changes. A red wool cap still sat snugly atop the girl’s white hair.

“My shop is closed, but uh, I can point you to–”

“Arabelle.”

“...Eh?”

“Not ‘miss.’ It’s Arabelle.”

Andromeda blinked, owlishly.

“I, ah, what?”

“–Send it through some rerolls and I’ll trade you a story or two. I want to see what I can get.”

Andromeda’s working theory: everyone had drowned in that flood. That flood was Cardinal’s punishment for taking too long to clear the game. And then God saw some good in Andromeda and sent her straight to heaven – where she currently existed in the same space as the impossibly pretty lady seated primly across her, a gloved hand held over her mouth as she suppressed a yawn before she continued to talk in what Andromeda could only describe as a matured version of Arabelle’s voice.

Wait.

Her thoughts began to crumble. Which would be a big deal if her brain hadn’t already turned into a useless pile of mush just from giving Arabelle a double-take.

Which one was real?

“An? It’s done.”

The reroll window must have been waiting on her input for an entire minute, for an impatient Arabelle had her elbows propped on the counter, leaning in close to peek at the progress bar. If she turned her head in just the right direction, the shadow cast by the new cut of her bangs fell perfectly over the tips of her eyelashes– "Aw. Don't doze off while I'm talking," Arabelle chided. She reached out as though she were about to flick Andromeda's forehead, then she frowned slightly and reconsidered. "Build-up is necessary for a good story! It only gets less boring from here, promise."

Actually, An hadn't been listening at all–

She tore her gaze from the woman and sat up straight, her cheeks turning red.

“O-okay, you, uh– got a choice between Paralyze or Bleed.” She peered at Arabelle from the corner of her reroll window. "I haven't missed anything, I think, so keep going where you left off? Please?"

Exactly what she wanted.

“Bless your luck,” Arabelle sighed, “Pick the DoT.”

The reroll window disappeared as the appraiser finalized the selection, and Arabelle took the weapon back into her hands. She’d had Andromeda replace the second [Keen] slot with an enhancement awarded by a spare etching in her inventory, and while she still wasn’t entirely satisfied with it, [Ode to Endless Time] should let her deal a little more damage on top of working decently with her current build.

Andromeda fidgeted behind the counter. “D-do you like it?”

“Mm. Realistically, this is the best you could do.” Lazily, she twirled the weapon in her hand, one ashen eye shut as the other was trained on the flickering light of its core. She’d play with it a little tomorrow, she decided; at her command, the scythe’s waning form slipped between her fingers and vanish. “Asking for another unique in four rolls is just demanding a miracle.”

“Oh! Of course, when you put it that way…” Andromeda quickly turned her head, but not before Arabelle caught a glimpse of the embarrassed smile on her face.

Her request had to have brought some pressure earlier – she witnessed it in the girl’s face as she rolled the same set of enhancements for the third time in the row, and it appeared that her words at least loosened some of it. She entwined her fingers atop her lap as Andromeda busied about on her side of the shop, shoving aside a sack of consumables to drag a stool over to the counter.

“So, the negative space.” Andromeda sat down with a huff, elbows propped on the counter between them. “Is there anything else you have to do here? I want to hear what happened to the rest of that theory!”

“Well, if you insist.”

"...No customers?"

It had only been a couple days since her last visit, but the appraiser immediately shot up from her chair and greeted her with an eagerness that almost left Arabelle with the impression that she was the best thing that happened to An today.

(Considering the lack of unidentifieds and junk piling the corners of the shop, she probably was.)

"You used to have so many."

"Ehe-- n-not really? I only had one other and," she followed Andromeda's glance to a small square of space miraculously spared from her habit of collecting useless clutter, and she returned to her task of placing crystal after crystal in a small pyramid, "the update just left a lot of people confused, I guess? I mean, I'm kind of stuck too, so maybe..."
