Ah floor 5, to those who are uninitiated floor five was the floor of sandy deserts and unforgiving heart in the morning with unbearable cold at night. Most people may not find themselves ever coming here if it were not for the fact that a decent number of quests could actually be found on this floor.

Randal himself was only here as a result of an encounter with a mysterious woman who was obviously an NPC and had been looking for someone out there to help her find something.

The that story was told was very clear cut, she had been out in the desert on an important archaeological expedition when a nasty sandstorm forced her team to return to the town separately while providing the many poisonous insects of the fifth floor with the opportunity to inject their venom into her. Now bedridden she hired Randal to help her retrieve her cargo.

The all important location of the abandoned cargo was already recorded down even though she abandoned it, she was still able to share her map information with Randal giving him a easier time navigating the desert.

The journey however would Span pastMore than just a few hour hours and threatened to prove to require a days and a nights to reach the location where Randal was last informed that the cargo around be.

Not wanting to be caught out in the desert in the blasting great Nor wanting to have to stay over night in the desert with no shelter, Randal quickly bought the supplies that he could need and used then to prevent him from eventually going on a tantrum. Why a tantrum? Because he had the chance to make these purchases and if he didn’t he would scold himself on regrets. After all, it wasn’t going to be a present journey but it certainly didn’t have to be torture.

The journey to even reach the Dessert was a Long one and every mile he journeyed was another further away from the relative safety of the main village. As far as Randal knew the desert storm took place quite some time ago which means that the chances of the cargo remaining somewhere close to the surface would be fairly low.

Randal travel at about an above average walking speed with a large umbrella to protect him marginally from the scorching heat from above. However it didn’t help with the heat that was present in the sand as the scenery slowly changed to fit the image of a fiery desert landscape with little vegetation and many rocks hurrying out sharply from the ground.

In fact according to what the mysterious lady had said this wasn’t even the desert yet but merely the outskirts. Randal would soon realise that the desert would only truly start after he had walked another night to get there.

Traveled day and night to reach the desert

Randal finally reached the desert and was met with a dark desert skyline as the sun was still breaking through the horizon. He had started the journey in the early morning of the day before and hasn’t really stopped walking since then. The continuous journey was taking it’s toll on Randal and forced him to sit down in the desert to take a food break.

The benefit of the game like location was the fact that the durability of food only seemed to tick down when placed outside of the inventory and would otherwise be capable of being kept edible forever. This meant that rations that would otherwise last a Long time but would taste stale, dry and tasteless would now be replaced with fresh and delicious home cooked meals that Randal had made in his kitchen.

After gods meal was consumed he was barely at the edge of the desert and he would still have an incredibly long way to go.

It was about the second hour of the journey into the desert at it was at this stage that Randal to think about his speed and the duration this whole journey would take.

At Randal’s current pace it would not surprise him if it took another sixteen out so hours to complete the journey there, search for the mysterious lady’s cargo and make it back to get for the reward.

Sixteen hours out in the desert alone would be incredibly dangerous if Randal didn’t prepare himself well prior to starting on his journey.

Randal looked around and started to notice the cactus looking very sturdy within the desert like as if they had not experienced a day without water, which was if Randal might add Absolutely untrue... and Randal would know, he’s been here about two hours. Similarly, the rocks that jutted outFrom the ground was very curious... how did they form and where did they come from?

As Randal paced through the desert at a constant speed he was already at the third hour of his journey, the sand would shift under the weight of his body and would make trudging through the sandy dunes all the more difficult as a result of the loss in balance and the constantly shifting ground.

He also noted the difficulty of walking with a giant umbrella, after all, the desert might have been hot but it was not due to a lack of wind, in fact, the wind itself Ed to how dry the air is, every blowing breeze making Randal’s umbrella carrying all the more difficult.

Having only been 3 hours in, the heat that was scorching down in Randal’s shade but also Randal nonetheless was only the Light morning sun one could expect on a normal and beautiful morning could kill in the game. Truly a terrifying sandy location.

In the fourth hour of Randal’s travels, he saw the terrifying and destructive power of the sandstorm when he saw a giant sand devil rise up out of nowhere and suddenly crash into of the giant rocks jutting out. This was all still happening quite a distance away from Randal but what scared Randal very much was the fact that the sound of the sand spinning was almost reminiscent of a blender taking apart something hard and which probably should be put in a blender and the sound wasn’t even the worst of it because not too Long after the sound of the blender was heard, the sound of something that shouldn’t be heard breaking could be heard shattering and a giant, GIANT, rock was seen hurling through the air at an insane speed right towards Randal direction.

It did miss Randal and the resulting crater and displacement of mass did not injure Randal at all.

It was now the fifth hour with Randal’s last encounter with the sand devils being so freaking terrifying that Randal would actually walk in a different direction everytime he thought that another one might come up again. Nonetheless, his hand was constantly on the umbrella to close it in case the sand storms came and picked him up from there umbrella and made it impossible for him to let go for fear of failing to his impending doom.

The fifth hour went by without much to do other than the mindlessly endless march towards the cargo, Randal was thinking shoot why he didn’t invite Skeleton or any other player along with him on this quest. The fact was that he probably was to impatient to wait a few minutes for them to get up to this floor or for them to come spring because Randal might have to adjust his pace to match theirs.

Now that five hours has passed and out was leaking over to the sixth, Randal wondered if maybe now would be the time to enjoy those delicious tuna sandwiches with green leafy vegetables. Ever since old man Pete has taught him the intricacies of fishing. Randal has been coming up with while new ways for himself to make new kinds of food, as A Chef it was truly quite spectacular to be able to create something different from what you were doing before.

After all if he were to only make the same kinds of food over and over again, Randal was sure that he would get sick of it really quickly. No matter tho, Randal still has to find this damn cargo before he could move on with his life and continue making more food in his shop. The sixth hour passed without a hitch and Randal’s stomach was indeed beginning to growl a little.

Seven hours into the trek was when the going got a little tougher, when Randal was crossing past a particularly annoying sand dune, the wind picked up and behind him a sand devil started to rise up, Randal immediately closed his umbrella to prevent being pulled into the sand devil and started sprinting forward, the blistering fast winds cut across his back like whips and the miniature sands were like bullets under the high velocity and irked Randal on the back.

Has Randal been pulled into the devil, he might have been torn to shreds under the immense pulling force within the cyclone. Randal didn’t get out completely unscathed but at least he was still alive.

Now he knew why no one wanted to undertake the mysterious woman’s quest even if they could, the journey was uncomfortable to say the least and dangerous if one was unlucky and slow to react.

During the eighth hour, things became peaceful again, Randal was panting from his earlier run, after the show of power of the desert the last time Randal didn’t dare to dilly dally and actually booked it out of there and away from the still spinning sand devil in the distance behind him, he was fortunate enough to be moving in the opposite direction from the cyclone.

He actually ran more than he was comfortable with because the threat of anything flying towards him was still high in spite of the relative emptiness of the desert.

When Randal was finally away from the sand devil for a safe enough distance and when the speed and howling of the tornado died down, he plucked his umbrella standing up into the sand to provide some shade and had his lunch. The tuna sandwich was so delicious that he finished it all in one sitting and would have to eat something else for dinner even if he reached the location of the cargo before dinner time.

The ninth to eleventh hour also passed by in a flash with very little else happening in the desert. Except for that one thing.

All of a sudden during that period of time however, a medium size scorpion rose from the sands and tried to strike at Randal.

But the scorpion’s rush didn’t end there and continued to strike repeatedly at Randal, even though he did manage to dodge the first attack, the singer of the scorpion still manage to jam itself into Randal’s foot, causing him to flinch and become unable to respond.

The sudden appearance of the sand scorpion was incredibly fast and the camouflage of the scorpion was impeccably blended to take potential prey by surprise, it was fortunate that Randal was capable enough to take on the monster’s hit otherwise that might have been his end. And the lonely death in the middle of the desert would not be a very nice way to go.

Regal was practically livid and honestly surprised and sincerely unprepared to deal with a Monster. The huge chunk of damage that the monster did to Randal’s health bar was scary, taking out almost one-sixth of all his health bar, not to mention the constant threat to his life was the unpredictable mood of the desert and it’s respecting sand devils.

At any point in time if Randal was not careful while fighting the scorpion a gust of wind might just sweep him up into the sky and kill him.

What’s more sad was that there was no one here to watch his back in case he needed to switch out.

Randal decided to try to land as many hits to maybe kill the scorpion but his first few attacks were unfortunately missed all around and he attempts only got him into more trouble when the scorpion shifted its weight and pounce on Randal.

With the scorpion’s full weight now on Randal, he couldn’t move and was pinned to the ground and this was an incredibly dangerous moment but Randal wasn’t about to give up hope in life yet, with the scorpion’s stinger coming down onto Randal’s head, Randal turned quickly to avoid and promptly Used his body weight to try and turn the scorpion over on its back all the while delivering blows to the scorpion going to kill it.

Randal did manage to get the upper hand in the power struggle and finally got on top of the scorpion and saw that he had managed to wipe out about one-Third if the scorpion’s Health bar. However the same amount of energy was already gone from Randal’s reserves and it didn’t seem like the number would go up anytime soon.

It was at times like this that Randal truly did wish for some way to recover his energy faster.

The scorpion was reeling a little from Randal’s Attack but want to shaken, the sand was still falling off the scorpions body every time Randal’s limbs hit the exo-Skeleton. The damage Randal was gradually piling onto the scorpion was equally high. With a few more kicks to the scorpions noggin, his health dropped to the last third and was ready to bite the dust.

Randal was also able to dodge out of the mandibles and stingers Of scorpion on the whole but felt his energy depleting gradually, Randal had a little fear that he would eventually run out of energy and be unable to continue the battle. The truth was that he needed to find a way to regain that energy. Either by learning a new skill or to use an energy recovery potion.

Randal started to unconsciously back away from the scorpion hoping for his energy to recover a outlet but to no avail.

It was a Long fight and Randal was very clearly trying his best, with as many moves inspired by iconic martial arts movies that he could remember, he jumped, kicked, punch and even tried to headbutt the scorpion but couldn’t seem to either find the right timing it find that his attacks would land right.

Randal tried to use his sword art again but he could only watch as the skill carried him past the scorpion missing lethality by just a small bit. Looking at his energy left, would only have a single chance to try again before he would be out of energy and if he didn’t have anymore energy he would not be able to kill the scorpion very fast and if he could not kill the scorpion then there was a chance a mishap could happen. A mishap that might lead to his untimely demise and disappearance in this lonely empty desert with nothing but this scorpion and the occasional sand devil to accompany him.

The scorpion suddenly perked upIt’s tail and stopped trying to Attack Randal, almost immediately as Randal noticed this peculiar movement from the scorpion  that not too Long ago was trying to kill him and wondered why it was doing so and leasing itself vulnerable for no reason.

Right at that moment,a slight breeze picked up, this immediately alerted Randal to what was about to happen. He was in the middle of a sand storm. Not knowing what else to do Randal got as low to the ground as possible and struck his umbrella into the ground hopefully being able to use it as a solid handhold while using the other hand and his legs to hold down a sheet over his head.

Immediately sooner than he Was comfortable with, the sound of the storm started screaming all around him. Randal was filled with fear and could only hold down the fort until the sand storm disappeared.

The growing of the sands storm was so sudden and unexpected that Randal was frozen to the core when he tried to think about what his next course of action would be because no matter what action he thought about shaking he was still unable to move for the sheer fear that if the storm just move a little his body would be blown up and away into the sky.

So Randal just sat there and waited for time to pass and for the storm to die down. The result of his decision was due to the fact that no matter what he did the threat of death was too high. Time passed slowly for Randal as he laid under the sheet to protect himself from the note minute sand particles.

After awhile the storm subsided abs when Randal felt it was safe he peaked his head or and saw the scorpion was no longer there.

Despite the help that had been provided to him, Randal still would not have an easy time retrieving it. The majority of the cargo was still buried in the sand, it was a Long rectangular box wrapped in a similar green sheet that Randal had purchased to cover himself from the sand storm. They did recommend its usage Due to the material and way that it can be used to protect himself and other items from the potential Natural dangers of being in the desert like this.

Randal slowly dig deep using his hands, of all the things that Randal had purchased from the vendor back at town he did forget to get himself a shovel so that he could possibly dig the sand easier and with less trouble, the problem was that at the end of the day he still did forget to get a shovel and so on his hands and knees he slowly dug up the box.

Randal soon... actually it wasn’t really all that soon, the box was about the size of Randal’s upper torso down to the bottom of his knees. That coupled together with the fact that the sand surrounding the large rectangular box constantly dropped and slipped back into the whole so Randal kept digging and sand kept falling until the box was mostly out of the ground but Randal couldn’t seem to get it out. As a reactionary last resort to Randal, he brainstormed for a moment and came up with an idea to tie a string around the box and pull it out like that.

Fortunately for Randal, the rope that he used was capable of starting connected without breaking under the strain of being pulled from both sides, and as the string drew taut, the large rectangular box was slowly pulled out of the ground. And was dragged up from the pit.
