Arabelle 0 Posted March 22, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2020 There was nothing beautiful left in a scorched land. Because it was dead. The soil was but mere dust. A wasteland where even vultures would starve. There was no hope for life or growth when the land itself was unsympathetic of such things. All that thrived were hostile entities of flame and hulking masses of volcanic stone who stomped angrily on a ground long seared by the flames of purification. Arabelle had to wonder, who would come to such a horrid place and dare to stay for even a moment longer than necessary? Madmen. "Found you." She stood before one of Mount Stylahm's many caves, never venturing any further than the entrance. Only looking in. How many years had passed since the day she first met the soft, music-loving boy who would later come to play a blood-drenched hand in twisting the lives of those closest to her? Little would have changed with what he knew of her. Adorably petite, purple hair secured with the same large red bow and dressed in the same black uniform, and a nose in everyone else's business. Arabelle tucked her hands behind her back and smiled. "Is this your first time here? I would love to catch up, but this place hasn't had any of its regular eruptions in a short while. At this time, it's safest at the base. Come on, I'll lead you down." She made a small, beckoning gesture with her gloved hand and turned her back on him. "Then let's talk there." —But perhaps there was something worth her while to be found in a land perpetually burning. Pinball 1 Posted March 23, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2020 (edited) He'd made it a point to avoid her, since everything went to [censored]. So why was it he found her standing next to him, peering into the darkness of a cave lit only by fire and brimstone? There was a quest here. Notoriously difficult, as it were; it wasn't unlike Avalanche, in the sense the monster evolved, creating something new. Something stronger, and more dangerous. Something that, Pinball thought, someone like the petite woman standing beside him wouldn't dare take alone. That is, of course, if she'd even expected to. He didn't look at her. Didn't acknowledge her, even though he followed when beckoned into the depths of the mountain. His eyes were locked straight ahead, a cold, piercing blue, long black hair falling sloppily over his eyes, as if he hadn't combed it in days. There was nothing for him to say, now. Hiding wasn't going to work anymore. Arabelle 0 Posted March 24, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted March 24, 2020 No response. But he silently followed after her, the sound of his footfalls bouncing off the cave's narrow walls. Such soft steps. Like a frightened cat creeping towards a curious foreign object. "Hey," Arabelle said. The small purple-haired girl didn't look over her shoulder, she simply continued leading him deeper and deeper into the depths of Mount Stylahm's caves. "You've been everywhere lately, you know? Talk of the town. It's almost as if everyone's got something to say about you. Who knew that timid boy from years ago would turn out to be this infamous. Not even I am close to achieving even a smidge of that renown. What d'you have to say, superstar?" Soon, their narrow tube opened up to a wider cavern. Lit up by the rivers of lava flowing in and out of cracks in the walls, the cave spanned meters wide, the ceiling high above their heads, and their only way out was a passage at the other end. The magma raised the closed area's heat to an almost unbearable level, but their greatest obstruction was the pack of hellhounds at the center of the cavern. Arabelle hardly seemed fazed as she ventured out a little further. "Ah," she half-heartedly feigned surprise. Her black scythe instantly materialized in her extended hand. "I took a wrong turn." The hounds' heads snapped in the players' direction and they growled in unison. "Well, well, well. Suppose we have to fight. You wouldn't leave me, would you?" Backing up to stand beside him, Arabelle tilted her head and smiled. "I'm her friend. I was by her side when you responded to her message on that fateful November day, and I've stayed beside her ever since. I don't think it'll be any... good if something happened to me, would it? So let's fight this, perhaps even for old times' sake." She unhooked the first crystal from her belt and shattered it. Lullaby. Pinball 1 Posted March 24, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2020 Digital sweat accumulated atop his brow as they walked, the magma's intensity rising for each step they took further into the depths of the hellish cavern. While he wasn't overly uncomfortable, thanks to the Survival skill he'd picked up what felt like years ago, Arabelle wasn't quite better off. Apparently there was a room effect; every so often, the purple-haired woman took damage. And it looked like it took out a noticeable chunk, too. What was she thinking? "I don't want to talk about it." But by the looks of it, he wasn't too sure that he'd get his way. Walking silently through the dugout mountain, the only view of the girl being her turned back, Pinball realized - he was scared of her. The teenager scowled, tossing his head to the side. That was stupid. It wasn't like she could hurt him. She wasn't a threat. He felt his fingers wrap around his spear tighter. Reassurance. He wasn't sure how long they'd been walking when they rounded the corner. Three hellhounds, dripping magma from their frothing mouths, snapped to attention, their heads locking onto the pair in unison. Instantly their cursors turned blood-red, and Arabelle's scythe appeared in hand. Pinball set his jaw. Wrong turn my ass, he thought. But what she said next gave him pause. He hesitated. Red hot anger bubbled up in his chest like a well-shaken soda, though the cap hadn't blown off quite yet. He was being used. Threatened. And he couldn't do anything about it. There weren't words to express what he felt then, but the colorful look in his glare as he moved forward likely spoke more than words ever could. If battle was a piece of art, Pinball was a painter; he moved with the trained precision of a frontliner, cutting through the first two Infernal Hellhounds with ease. They yelped, sparks of ember jutting out of their pierced skin as Pinball flowed past, burning holes in his healthbar. The third dog, however, proved more tricky - while Pinball's spear cut through the inside of its throat, it still stood, and pushed itself forward onto him, knocking him off balance. In an attempt to steady himself, his arm was forced forward, straight into the jaws of the beast. It clamped down as flashes of red sparked in his field of view, the two now locked in a deadly game of tug-of-war. Arabelle 0 Posted March 27, 2020 Author #5 Share Posted March 27, 2020 First, he burned holes into her back, ever silent. The message was clear, however, and Arabelle didn't say another word as she strode onward. Then he was racing past her, cursed spear in hand, cutting through all three [Infernal Hell Hounds] with a single Sword Art. She clicked her tongue. "Predictable." Though her softer voice was lost in the beasts' angered growls, her song played on. The small purple-haired girl dusted off the last of the black crystal's remnants and increasingly hastened her steps, twirling Amaterasu into her favored grip with ease. Where she lacked in pinpoint precision, she made up for in grace and an affectation of effortlessness. Arabelle burst forward, and both weapon and wielder were wrapped in black flames as a Sword Art carried her through the system-assisted motion of a sweeping slice. Wrestling back control, she sunk her blade into the attacking Hell Hound's flesh at the end of her second attack's arc. Its jaw opened in a yelp of pain, and she wrenched the hound's head away from Pinball. Patches of skin tore off as she tugged her scythe back into her. "I'm grateful. I truly am," she told him with a small smile. Taking a small leap backwards, Arabelle twirled her scythe over her head and concluded the Sword Art with a slam of her weapon's blunt end against the rocky ground. Pinball 1 Posted March 28, 2020 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2020 Pinball managed to rip his arm free of the monster's fiery maw, leaving him wide open and circled by the pack. Arabelle was quick to launch an attack of her own as a follow-up, and Pinball was surprised to see their health drop a significant amount. It brought back memories, didn't it? How much had she grown, since then? He didn't give it much thought. The warrior was still angry, and that anger was muddling his thoughts. He spun out into another Weeping Moon, a flash of white arcing out and cutting through one of the Infernal Hell Hounds. The second managed to leap back as the first froze and fell apart in gory chunks of ice, dissipitating into fragments of blue soon after. But the third was nowhere near him, and Pinball's heart dropped at the thought. "[censored]," he spat, whirling around to face Arabelle. Panic and fear spiked through his chest. Arabelle 0 Posted March 29, 2020 Author #7 Share Posted March 29, 2020 Amaterasu's flames faltered with the last of her Sword Art and Pinball moved in a rapid white flash, remnant wisps of black flame dissipating into the air as he treaded over them. There was an urgency to his movements — my, my, was he actually concerned? but no, she wasn't the type to deceive herself, if he even were, it wasn't about her — but his haste became his own undoing. "Getting a liiittle too carried away there, Pinball. As you do." She wondered if that would prompt a louder reaction, but for her part, she was positively displeased her hard work was ruined. Once more. Her weapon reignited. Arabelle spun, raining ruthless blows on the howling beast who'd escaped Pinball, and the corners of her vision pulsed red as sparks of flame spurted out of the canine's wounds and burst apart with small pops as soon as they came into contact with outside air. She finished it off with a slice to its throat but before she could celebrate her little victory, her head snapped up to face a hurtling mass of black. Somewhere near her, Pinball cursed. The final hellhound (wow, it was still alive?) thundered towards her with its fangs bared and magma dripping down its jaw; the deaths of its packmates must have left it extra motivated to give the pair a good thrashing. Or her, in specific. It bowled her over with a swipe of its paw and sank its teeth into her shoulder, lifting the smaller girl off her feet and shaking her in the air like a ragdoll. Pinball 1 Posted March 29, 2020 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2020 As you do? Once more, anger rushed through his system, this time accompanied by a profound annoyance. It was aggravating, to say the least, when someone had you under their thumb. Even moreso when they deemed it amusing to taunt you for it. Pinball was all scowls as he fought the remaining Hell Hounds, a whirling dirvish as he cut through - and missed - the burning dogs. Arabelle had spun out on the offensive again, and, much to her chagrin, would accumulate enough Hate. And because of that - unfortunately, when he missed, Arabelle had been targeted. As he'd curse, panic and fear(?) coursing through his veins, Pinball would end up throwing himself towards them, his spear held outright, it felt like he wouldn't make it there in time. If he could just press forward just a little bit harder - run just a little bit faster... There was no way in hell he was going to let her die here. Arabelle 0 Posted March 31, 2020 Author #9 Share Posted March 31, 2020 Her hand clawed at scorching flesh — fingers sinking deep into skin, she would have drawn blood if she were anywhere else but here — and she twisted around in the beast's grip. Blue receded from her energy bar as wrathful flames broke and raged down Amaterasu's blade. She aimed, and the Sword Art released with a blast of black energy, forcefully sinking her blade well into its jaw. Arabelle safely dropped to the ground amid cascading embers and data crystals. "That went a little longer than expected," she remarked, examining the tears in her armor where the hell hound had bitten her. With a small huff, she manifested a large red cloak and threw it over her shoulders. Another thrum of red, and her HP bar was further into the yellow zone. "But it might have been worth it. You're cute when you're worried. That aside, have you ever heard of this quest we walked into by complete accident?" From the bubbling rivers and pools all around them, magma climbed past the banks. The streams of bright orange amassed in the center of the room and from it arose a figure larger than the Hell Hounds they faced before. "That was only the first wave." Arabelle hardly spared a glance at the spawning Gatekeeper. She strode forward, fixing her appraising eyes on Pinball as her scythe vanished into wisps of flame, and locked an iron grip on his wrist — and she wouldn't have managed to swing around a weapon larger than her size if she wasn't strong in some way. "Come on. Let's hide before it catches us in this state. Behind the pillar works, I suppose?" It wasn't exactly a suggestion. The small girl went ahead, leading him by the hand. Pinball 1 Posted March 31, 2020 #10 Share Posted March 31, 2020 And then all was silent, save for the bubbling of the lava beside them. Well, that and Arabelle. She landed vaguely somewhere near him, but Pinball was quick to turn his head away from the girl. "I'm not cute," came his sharp retort, but even that was punctuated by the gnash of his own teeth and the quick aversion of his eyes. He didn't like looking at her. As she threw a cloak over her shoulders, Pinball materialized three potions he held in one hand, suspending the vials in-between his fingers. Of course he'd heard of the quest. In the distance another shadowy beast rose from the fire, awaiting their arrival. He'd come here specifically to fight the monster himself. Not that he would tell her that - especially not since he'd come so ill-prepared. But tearing him from his darker musings was Arabelle - again - this time locking her hand around his already thin wrist with a grip of iron. Behind the pillar? Pinball gave a quick scan, his eyes locking onto the smooth stone a few meters away. And, despite his reluctance, he didn't resist her pulling him along. Once behind cover, Pinball handed her the potions he'd produced from his inventory. "Here," he said shortly. Her health was worse than his, and she was taking damage from a room effect on top of that. He'd pull his arm away and maintain a healthy distance. Once she'd accepted, Pinball would make quick work of his own, popping the cap and downing the brew in one swift swig. As the glass turned to dust in his palm, he squinted. What the hell was up with that name? Sending Arabelle x2 Greater Curative Potion(s) from his Battle Ready Inventory. Consuming: Vicious Dragon-Fang Potion -- +3 DMG for a thread. Arabelle 0 Posted April 1, 2020 Author #11 Share Posted April 1, 2020 "Unlikely." Now in the relative safety of their cozy hiding place, she let go of his wrist and made a small dismissive wave of her hand as if she were tossing his denial out the window. "There has to be some redeeming quality to you. How on earth did all those people find themselves so attracted, then?" She made quick work, swapping five potions into her battle-ready and uncapping one she'd had with her since the first day. Thank god for no expiration dates, right? "Or maybe they just have a poor taste." Arabelle drank. Then she discarded the empty vial and regarded Pinball with heightened curiosity as he held out two of his own potions. Perfect T2s. She accepted and watched him out of the corner of her eye as he drank his own. "Nothing expected in return, I assume. How curious. I have a lot of things to give, if you would just ask. But you reallyyy just don't talk much, do you? You and her would make a decent pair. Oh, but how about we talk about something you would like." Her fingers were a blur as she opened her inventory and quickly assembled a bundle. Healing crystals... and a hotdog. She tapped a final option and manifested the assortment, wrapped neatly in a cloth, and she held out her little return gift with a smile. "Take it. The hotdog has Probiotics for the DoT and aaall of these crystals are T3 and instant-use. No debuffs, I'll be handling that on my end." There wasn't any space left for Pinball's potions in her battle-ready. She uncorked the first vial and drank. The second went quickly after, and her HP rose to the green zone. Pinball 1 Posted April 4, 2020 #12 Share Posted April 4, 2020 (edited) Annoying. He found this girl very annoying, now, for reasons he couldn't quite place - but it made it hard to ignore the constant jabs he'd otherwise grown used to. "Poor taste," Pinball gruffly agreed, running a sleeve across his mouth. Then she mentioned her again, and a flash of anger passed over him. And though he wanted to tell her to be quiet, to threaten her, or to simply turn his back and leave her here, Pinball had grown too good at keeping his mouth shut. He'd decided a long time ago that it was better that way, so he let it pass. For now. Arabelle was naturally quick to change the subject, though, so he didn't need to stay tight-lipped for any longer than he would have wanted to. She handed to him an array of consumables that he could only assume were for the fight. He doubted they were poisoned... but could they be? Hopefully not. It wasn't an especially big worry at the moment. The more pressing concern was that there was no serious, dignified way to eat a hotdog. Pinball frowned at the thought, and only gave Arabelle a glance before turning back to the food. This was player-made. No sensible NPC would force adventurers to shovel hotdogs down their throats. After a moment, he relented. "Thank you." Arabelle made him uncomfortable. But ignoring her felt wrong. So despite that wariness, he answered her as he reorganized his Battle Ready Inventory. "I do," Pinball said, "haven't listened to much in a while." Arabelle 0 Posted April 28, 2020 Author #13 Share Posted April 28, 2020 The hot dog? It wasn’t entirely intentional. But why would she avert her gaze from the delightful entertainment? She was no blushing maiden. “Mm. I like music, too. Ever since I played my first piece on the piano.” Arabelle inched sideways, further lessening the already small distance between them in their shared hiding spot behind the pillar, but she rested against the warm stone. She kept her sights set in front of her, on nowhere in particular; Pinball was confined to a corner of her vision. “Lots of things happened and my reasons changed over the years, but my fondness of it never did. “I guess everyone has things they’d treasure no matter what.” She tilted her head to look at him, and suddenly, they weren’t talking about music anymore. “Right…?” Her playfully inquisitive stare moved up to take in his full EN bar. Already? She wondered where his little safe place was. “The crystals I gave you are all classical. I’m not too sure about your tastes, but you might find them to your liking. I’d suggest you don’t try to conserve them. Want something to listen to after this quest blows over? I have vanity crystals in my inventory and the piano in my shop. All free of charge, and I don’t have anything to benefit from anyone learning about you.” She held out her hand in front of her, palm open, and her scythe appeared in a column of black flame. Turning back for another brief look at Pinball, she decided it wouldn’t hurt to make sure he knew how to use those properly. She rarely came across an instance where her support songs were vital to her and her ally’s survival. “While they’re all instant use, it’s difficult to multitask and use more than one along with your attack. So burst one as soon as you’re damaged and alternate between [Sword Arts] and consumables. That makes for a consistent rotation, doesn’t it?” She tugged one of her own free from her belt – this time, its pure blue was tinted with the black of a debuff enhancement. “I’ll go first, then.” Her energy hadn’t regenerated fully yet, but that wasn’t the issue. Her main concern was the overwhelming heat of the cave and her steadily dropping health bar. Arabelle calmly stepped out from behind the pillar. All three heads of the towering figure in the center of the room instantly snapped in her direction, and they thrashed about with eyes blazing in unrestrained bloodlust as their shared body eagerly advanced. Howls and pounding steps were not enough to drown out the song escaping from the crystal which now lay in pieces at her feet, and as soon as her keen ears picked up the first notes, she lifted her foot and stomped on the other. A song that sent one to a state of lethargy. And another that sent one’s head swirling in dizzying spirals. Pinball 1 Posted April 28, 2020 #14 Share Posted April 28, 2020 "Right," he spat. That soured his mood, and he wasn't too keen on answering anything after that. She'd give him some advice about using the healing crystals, which he noted, and offered him his choice of vanity music crystals after the quest, which he'd ignored. The boss was only a handful of meters away from them, and when Arabelle said she'd go first, Pinball was hesitant. Still, he didn't refuse her, and trailed behind the smaller girl with an anxious death grip on his Cold Fervor. Magma erupted beside them with every step they took down the blackened path, which soon rounded at into a sort of platform that Cerberus, Inferno's Rage stood upon. The giant hell hound looked down at their approach with fiery eyes, red-hot veins shining through thick black, matted fur, lava dribbling from the sides of its mouth and sending up sparks as it struck the ground. All three of its monstrous heads reered back, and a powerful howl echoed throughout the cavern, shaking the very foundation of the subterranean cave. Pinball wasted no time throwing himself towards it, spinning past Arabelle as he charged. Pulling a trick from his old frontline style of fighting, he jabbed the butt of his spear into the ground and used it to launch himself into the air, spinning the polearm back into his arms as he flew at it. All three of the heads turned to him as he rained a flurry of stabs towards the beast, noticing very quickly that the system was pulling him towards one head. They each had their own healthbars-? He wouldn't have much time to think about it as two of the heads lashed out, snapping into his leg and torso respectively, ripping out vibrant red chunks of 3D mesh. The teen pulled himself away, landing heavy on the ground, grimacing as he crushed one of Arabelle's healing crystals in his palm. His health rose as a faint melody played around him, drowned out entirely by Cerberus' thunderous foot falls. Arabelle 0 Posted May 5, 2020 Author #15 Share Posted May 5, 2020 “No DoTs, no AoEs. That’s how this battle works,” she informed as his cold, silent presence passed by, her voice rising clearly above the cacophony of Cerberus’s howls and her own two songs’ hypnotizing notes. Despite her own words, however, her gloved hand reached down to grasp the third debuff crystal and remove it from its spot on her belt. Three health bars appeared in her view, though she could only focus on the already afflicted Cerberus Head. No concern to someone who already came prepared. “Oh, I guess I should have said that a bit earlier. Oops. “Too bad I was a little preoccupied,” Arabelle finished. She tilted her head in an expression of playful indifference as another song joined the discordant symphony. She recognized the haunting first notes of Lacrimosa; he’d taken that much damage on the first round alone, but as he landed roughly some distance away from her, he would quickly realize that his sole companion wasn't too fussed about helping him out of his ordeal. For her part, Arabelle kept to slowly circling around the perimeter, scythe in one hand and an uncorked potion in the other. Cerberus, Head 1 at half-health. The plan had always been to let him handle everything. Pinball 1 Posted May 5, 2020 #16 Share Posted May 5, 2020 Some help would have been nice. Of course, however, Pinball didn't really expect such kindness from anyone anymore - and that was especially true for his purple-haired companion. Of all people Pinball would have liked to go dungeon delving with, Arabelle was firmly stuck in place at the bottom of the list. And that was saying something. But sometimes, things needed to happen for him to move forward. He had yet to accept that. Cerberus lunged towards him, jaws frothing over with liquid fire. Pinball dodged once, twice, rolling and leaping out of the ways of snapping death, before getting caught once more in the side by the third's massive head. He yanked himself free, cursing, crushing another healing crystal between his palm, and then spinning his spear back into both hands. Only single target, and it attacked three times simultaneously? This was going to be trickier than he'd imagined. Arabelle 0 Posted May 9, 2020 Author #17 Share Posted May 9, 2020 Three simultaneous attacks forced him on the defensive. He swiftly dodged the first, as expected of a fighter of his caliber, but there was a split-second pause where he almost appeared to move to set his spear into a familiar position – was he thinking of activating a Sword Art? – before he cut the motion short and narrowly avoided the second Head’s attack. For her part, Arabelle remained at her fair distance and simply let a second empty vial roll off her palm as Pinball fell right into the massive jaws of the third Cerberus Head. There was only so much one can do against three opponents whose combined strength nearly equaled theirs. He looked a bit agitated. Or caught off-guard? How curious; she thought Pinball would’ve already had it figured out by the first round. A second song joined the sound of battle, but she noticed his health had climbed up by a small margin beforehand. Pinball 1 Posted May 11, 2020 #18 Share Posted May 11, 2020 Annoying. Annoying, annoying, annoying. The words were on a constant loop in Pinball's head as he was shaked around by Cerberus like a ragdoll, fiery maw threatening to swallow him whole if it'd just reer its head back. But that window of oppurtunity would close as Pinball smacked the hellhound on the nose, once, twice, three times, wrenching himself free and saving himself from the future where he'd ended up a midday snack for the hellish dog. He fell to the ground nimbly, he still had that much practice left in him, and dashed to the side as another one of the heads took a snap at him. Pinball just barely had the chance to unleash a barrage of spear strikes, shattering the first head, before jumping back twice to dodge the follow up attacks of Inferno's Rage. Hissing quietly through grit teeth, Pinball's hand found another one of the healing crystals Arabelle had given him. Loathe to use things the retreating girl had given him but even more unprepared to die to this quest boss, Pinball crushed the gem in his palms and savored the relief that came with a rapidly replenishing healthbar. Arabelle 0 Posted May 26, 2020 Author #19 Share Posted May 26, 2020 Shatter. Before the polygon fragments of the felled Head could settle, two sharp black crystals sailed through the air from above and struck the pair’s new target in quick succession. Cerberus’ second head snapped to the side as if a fist had just blown through its jaw, and the pseudo-attack disrupted the third’s offensive. The hellhound stopped in its tracks, both heads growling and snapping at each other. Meanwhile, her song escaped from the crystal’s fragments and played anew. Arabelle landed softly beside Pinball. “I suppose that’s one disadvantage,” she remarked. Her scythe was nowhere in sight now and the room effect continued to tick her HP bar down periodically, but nothing more than a small smile graced her countenance. She rolled another vial on her palm. “I don’t think that will work a second time though. It's rather fun to watch, too. If only there was a way to make them fight a little more…” Spoiler > Le Gibet -- [x2] Lullaby (Instant) -- [#135355] -- -2 EVA -> Cerberus, Head 2 > Flohwalzer -- [x2] Hypnosis -- [#122866] -- -2 ACC -> Cerberus, Head 2 > Volcano's Effect: 30 DMG -> Arabelle [H: 0] Arabelle: 445/560 HP | 41/56 EN | 14 DMG | 46 MIT | 3 Probiotics | 5 ACC | 2 EVA | Fallen | 2 Recovery | Regen [H: 0] Pinball: 999/1240 HP | 100/124 EN | 23 DMG | 5 ACC | 6 EVA | 62 BH | 8-10/36 FRZ | Phase | 3 Probiotics «Cerberus, Inferno's Rage» Head 2: 500/500 HP | 175 DMG | 75 MIT | 1 ACC | 30 Thorns Head 3: 500/500 HP | 175 DMG | 75 MIT | 3 ACC | 2 EVA | 30 Thorns Abilities: << Bringing Hell >> : "Cerberus, Inferno's Rage" gains 1 attack for each head alive. << One at a Time >> : Players can only target one Head at a time before hitting another. Pinball 1 Posted June 5, 2020 #20 Share Posted June 5, 2020 And although the young woman was back as quickly as she had left, Pinball wasn't so sure that he'd rather her be next to him at all. Still, the debuff songs would take hold of the giant hellhound and usher waves of relief over him. The crystals' eerie songs were mechanically debilitating to both monsters and players alike, and it brought him a certain level of comfort to know that he'd be fighting a debuffed boss. Even more still that said boss had finally lost one of its three heads. Paying no mind to the gushing flames that spouted from the unclosed wound of the partially decapitated beast, Pinball threw himself forward one more time. Spam the hard hitting Sword Art and profit. All he could hope for was that the dog didn't get a lucky shot of its own in. Again. Were they really lucky shots if you kept getting hit by them? There came a certain point... He rolled around the heavy slam of a fiery paw, and sidestepped a vicious snap at his torso. Bursts of purple light and dark, curling shadow exploded against the second of what would have been three heads. Again, again, again, Pinball felt the faintest pull towards the second head, his body forcefully locking itself onto a specific target. He didn't want to waste the time testing it, but he had a feeling that the rumors saying AoEs were uneffective against the boss were true. It didn't matter. What did matter was getting rid of the thing before it could take another chunk out of his precious HP.
