Personality:

Amelia is a friendly and helpful person who throws herself into what ever she does with an abundance of passion. Despite her friendly nature, she can come across as blunt and uncaring of the feelings of others as well, as she is quite painfully honest. That honesty combined with her own bullheadedness has gotten her into trouble on more then one occasion. Another telling feature about Amelia's personality is her sense of honour and loyalty, best embodied by the fact that she will always try her best to keep her word once she has given it. The last most telling trait she has, is that she is a fairly strong emotional person, someone who doesn't hide her emotions as she bears her heart on her sleeve in a sense.

History:

Amelia is originally from Scotland and moved to Japan with her parents when she was three years old, following a vacation her parents had, given how young she was when she moved to Japan she grew up seeing Japan as her home and Scotland simply as the place her parents where from.  When Amelia was six years old her mother became ill and died after fighting the disease for a year, the loss of her mother was a heavy blow to the young girl, especially as she saw the once vibrant woman withering away, this event did how ever instil a strong passion to become a healthcare worker as she wanted to help save others. 

A year after her mother's passing, her dad found a new love and they soon got married. Amelia didn't get along with her stepmother at all at first, it didn't help of course that the Japanese woman struggled with pronouncing her stepdaughters name and took to calling her Aimi instead. It first seemed like Amelia and her step-mother wouldn't be able to get along at all, but when Amelia was celebrating her 15th birthday with her dad by going on a father & daughter trip to visit some of the Temples and Shrines in Japan, they got into a car accident. Whilst Amelia recovered fully with only some light scarring to show for it, her father wasn't as lucky and was left paralysed from the waist down.

Amelia had fully expected her stepmother to leave herself and her father behind and was mentally preparing herself to drop out of college so she could stay home and look after her father. When much to her surprise her stepmother forbid her from dropping out of school, as she would take care of her husband. It was that sudden act of kindness that brought the two together, as they both found common ground in their shared love for their father and husband respectively. When Amelia turned eighteen she had her name officially changed to Amelia Aimi Nakahara, taking the monniker her stepmother gave her and her stepmothers name on as well. 

Despite being a foreign born kid, Amelia never struggled to much when growing up. She had some struggles with the language in the first few years, but once she managed to catch up that became less of a issue as well. Her fairly carefree attitude meant that a lack of friends never did quite bother her. She found a outlet with her dad who passed his knowledge of HEMA onto her and by attending athletic and kendo clubs in school. Due to not having a lot of friends, she got into video games as it was a way to spent time and socialise with people who didn't know about her being a foreigner, from there she got into online gaming as well. When she heard of Sword Art Online she went to stand in line for the game, as she was the only person of her circle of friends who could get her hands on a copy, the plan was for her to try  it and then tell them how it was, this of course didn't work as she found herself stuck in the game.

Virtues:

Bullheaded/Strong willed:
Aislin is a strong willed and bullheaded person, something she doesn't see as a flaw herself. On the positive side, this makes Aislin someone who rarely if ever gives up when things get hard or tough on her. This helped her when she had to deal with her father's accident while still in school. It also helped her to keep going when she had issues with the Japanese language, or trouble making friends.

True to her Word:
Ainslin was raised by her father to always be true to her word, something she still values greatly and strives to do. Ainslin usually thinks before she gives her word as she hates having to go back on her word and will more of then not simply refuse to do so. This had given Ainslin a reputation of a dependable and trust worthy young woman as it was rare to not see her doing everything she could to keep her word once she gave it.

Kind and Caring:
Aislin's father always said that one of the ways Aislin resembled her mother was in how much she cares for others, even to the point that she'll ignore her own wants and needs when it comes to caring for people she cares about, for example when she was willing to throw away all the progress she was making with her studies to stay home and care for her crippled father. Aislin does her best to always try and be kind with others, always feeling incredibly guilty if she unintentionally hurts the feelings of others. 

Protective and Helpful:
Aislin's father always said that one of the ways Aislin resembled her mother was in how much she would strife to, help and protect others if she could. It was a trait that made it easy for her to make friends, though more of then not people would abuse this as well, though Aislin never cared to much about that as she was usually just happy to help others out. Her protective nature comes into its own mostly when she can stand up for those who can't do so themselves for what ever reason. In primary and high school, this for the most part manifested with Aislin standing up for the younger kids that where targeted by bullies and often getting into fights with said bullies as well.

Honest to a Fault: 
Aislin is at her core a person who values honesty in herself and in others. This isn't a bad thing on its own, but somehow she managed to turn it into a flaw, even if she herself doesn't always see it as such. Namely by not hesitating to speak the truth, how ever tactless or blunt she might come across because of it.

Highly Emotional:
Aislin is a highly emotional person and normally she can keep her emotions under control. The moments she doesn't manage to keep it under control how ever she has a tendency to not quite think her actions through and act rashly. This can be anything from her saying stuff she doesn't mean or getting herself stuck into a situation that could easily been avoided she just stopped and thought a moment before acting.

Bullheaded/Stubborn:
While she doesn't see it as a flaw herself, Aislin's stubbornness has caused her trouble more than once. First of all, she will absolutely refuse to apologise or take back her words or actions if she thinks she was correct doing it in the first place. Examples of this can be found in her high school days, when she often clashed with Amisa over what the latter called her 'lack of tact', as well as in her reluctance to accept her step-mother.

Relationships (optional)

Ren Tanaka or Titan as he is known as on SAO. He is Amelia oldest and closest friend she has. They met shortly after Amelia came to live in Japan. She is currently unaware of him also being trapped within the game.

Shizue Akaga or Amisa as she is known on SAO. She's a fellow student of Tokyo U. The two have on occasional crossed blades in a sparring match during, sparring rounds set up between the different sword fighting clubs.
