For free?

Arabelle blinked at the sign. It wasn’t around when she last visited – or at least she hadn’t bothered enough with the aisle of misty white vials. This was convenient for her, then; the performer hadn’t appreciated the thought of dedicating her daily crafts to a piece written by artificial children with no info of their recompense in sight, and spending her respites even less so. “Thanks for this,” she made sure to tell the generous alchemist. A relieved smile pulled at the corners of her lips as she took half her usual amount from the shelves and dropped them an open inventory window.

More respites were necessary already? But of course, the work had been cut out for her. Perhaps if she'd checked in once in a while with the festival, she wouldn't feel as though she had to carry the burden alone. And yet the five minute walk that it would've taken her up to Taft was spent prowling the Town of Beginnings instead, looking for her alchemist friend's shop.

Payment at the counter, one chug of the liquid down her throat. The only sign she was ever here was the scatter of blue shards floating about in the space between the door and the shelves.

A few seconds passed, and they were gone.

Crafting was hell.

She couldn’t remember the last time she thought that.

Who knew the road to two hundred was this tedious? Arabelle surely didn’t; she’d never kept count of her daily output before, and with more than enough time (she’d figured), she’d thought there wasn’t any need to now.

Thoughtless of her, in hindsight.

A polite greeting and the obligatory ‘thank you for your generosity’ to the alchemist. Her visit came two hours past noon this time, but she faithfully kept to her courtesy of taking only five freebies. Had she been a little less considerate, she might have saved herself the extra trip.

"Oh, hey."

Bistro was part way through the door to her workshop when she'd noticed NIGHT walk in. In the alchemist's hands was a fresh crate of some solution or another. "I'll be with you in a moment if you're looking to pick anything up." The patron nodded, humming an acknowledgement, before the shopkeeper vanished behind the wall.

Two minutes later, Bistro walked out to a trade window of too many potions.

She gulped and blinked twice.

"You know," the alchemist started dryly, "if you wanted this many crystals, you could've just told me. I have a stash for these sorts of situations..."

"... Really?"

"... Yes."
