[F4-PP] Forging Steel from A past forgotten (Essence of Steel)

The ever blank canvas of snow that composed floor 4, a twisted memory blackening the blanket of white with constant failed attempts to compromise and learn. But that was behind him, Raidou peels up white herbs as his usual, for he was avoiding this place up until recently with a pressuring of insecurity staving him away. Adjusting his robe on his frame with an exhale as he stands, casting a cloud from his lips, a bit numb from the chill. Stepping onto the ice of the frostbitten lake, as an image of blue hair like a ghost travels a ring about him. A violin plays in the center from A hair of orange. You cant try to slow down until you've made at least one rotation, otherwise, you will lose your momentum and yer balance. Why don't you give it another try?.

Drawing his blade with a firm look painted upon his face. "It's time to give this another try. No more hiding." His stance widening on the slick surface, as the phantom giggles as it skates around him on the ice. A shift of his weight as his robe flutters about him, a quick pivot, and shift of his blade to the left as he spins fully halting the pull of the mass of his weapon. A sudden movement of his left arm stops it dead with a shower of sparks as it rips upon the plate glove on his arm, he leans back and shifts it to his right side. Muscle memory reawakens slowly with each turn of his body upon the ice, sharp exhales of white with each completed form.

Downing the last of that buttered bread she had obtained from that pink-haired cook, Fox continued towards the quest location. The Ice Golem would be easy enough to kill with this buff, allowing her deal nearly half it's health in damage from a single sword art. Tanks could sustain fights and remain nearly invincible, but the damage players where the one with skill shined. When she was finished eating, she replaced the porcelain white visage to her own, ensuring her identity remain a mystery. 

Her eyes got off place when she saw the familiar red contrasting the snow. The stern, clarion voice called out as she approached him. He looked as though he was training, like he was gearing himself for something. Perhaps he was thinking about taking on a new quest. The quiet crunch of her footsteps could easily go missed over Raidou's training session, but she was sure that he would see her in a moment.

With instinct and skill, he slid and maneuvered around, picking up speed as his feet became accustomed once again to the sliding around as the cardinal seemed to warm him like a welcoming hand. His momentum became more aggressive with heavy exertion with each pivot, at the end a locked halt and grinding metal strengthening his grip and tearing his unruly broadsword about in a way it had not been for ages. The black star seems to awaken, a pulse of red upon its surface. "There it is." Raidou exclaims still not having noticed the lake's new entry as the dust seems to clear from his aged sword.

Leaning low upon the ice, digging his toes in he removes a glass vial from his pocket. Tossing it airborne, he breaks for the falling container. Stopping with flattened feet, he slides and turns as the point of his blade drops. The same red pulse flares upon his weapon as he drops the point, kicking the blade with a traveling foot to increase its speed as he turns with its weight. The spin completes as it connects with the falling bottle sending it to pieces. Huffing heavily with his first riposte in ages, a silent whisper "Grand Mass Parry. I won't let you down this time Nikki."

The girl watched his precise movements. He knew what he was doing for sure, this was the strength of a higher level player. She could only imagine what she was going to be able to accomplish when she became his level. She would destroy everything in her path.

He made mention of someone called 'Nikki'. Perhaps it was someone that he knew, a friend that was here in Aincrad with him, or perhaps outside the game. It could also be some that he used to know. That thought probably wasn't the best to think about but it was entirely possible.

When he stopped for a moment was the time to speak up on her presence. The girl took a few steps closer to the boy that was prepping himself for something and said her signature line to get his attention. "Kon." Her voice reached out to the boy, muffled by her white mask.

With his heavy panting, the swordsman had found his riposte again, like riding a bike it was hard for him to forget completely. A spoken greeting from the serenity in white, a turn to see the girl that had helped him find the path he had led astray. "Good timing." Raidou remarked as her arrival couldn't be more perfect, he intended to pick up where he left off. The last time he came to this floor for combat, for questing was with Life so long ago. A quick pass of the hand to his robe withdrawals a corked vial with crimson red liquid that tasted of brimstone, typical of a damage potion. Tossing it underhand to the girl, she could assist him this time. "I am killing that damned golem this time, would you like the experience? Just steer clear and let me draw it like before, afterward, I would have you do exactly what you're good at. Which is what that bottle is for, it will boost your output even further." Raidou had already made up his mind, but with Megitsune at his back, it would at the very least be less arduous and wouldn't take him days to fell as he had planned.

The girl caught the crimson vial in her hand, inspecting the liquid momentarily before uncorking it. It didn't take much to get her excited when you were making her deal more damage than absolutely necessary. She was about to tell the man to turn away while she downed it, but he was already on his way to wherever the duo was planning to go. She half removed the porcelain mask off her own face while she took a drink from the vial. It threw her into a coughing fit almost immediately. She turned and coughed to the side, moving the mask back to her face before Raidou could turn to see her face.

"What the hell did you put in that freaking potion? God! That was awful!" The remaining memory on her taste buds of the extravagant Japanese meal she just had was completely lost and replaced with the taste of disgust. She disposed of the vial into the snow, but she still could feel the power that she had gained from both consumables coming close to doubling her damage output. This was going to be fun.

[Raidou 1]

Megitsune seemed to catch up and was going to offer him company on this journey, which would allow him to get back into the swing of things when it came to party combat. This was an unexpected but welcome addition, he could battle test himself and get the lead out of his tactics and bring them back to a healthy area. A question to which the girl may not wish the drawn out composition of the potion Raidou was sure. "Its a blood-booster and honey extract mixture. The extract acts as a catalyst while the booster increases blood flow to your system, akin to real world oxidants designed for weight lifting. The taste is unfortunate, but it is simply not important enough to change."

The journey takes winds and twists, with Megitsune's blackened Kimono and Raidou's vibrant red robe punching through their surroundings of white in easily visible color. To a pit of bones barely peeking through a layer of falling snow, Raidou takes to a small chunk of a broken femur. "Prepare yourself, for it begins." Heaving the object to a large skull a tremor underfoot gives way to the approaching beast. Rolling hunks of ice begin to commune to a hulking mass as Raidou's robe takes a glow as red fumes bleed from its exterior. "Remember me? I have returned and this time will be different." Raidou exclaims as he adjusts his glasses with his left arm while drawing the black star with his right to the screeching of a living column of ice throws a hearty wind about the plain.

One the skeleton monster was struck with one of its missing bones it was awoken from its slumber. The kitsune could not use her hide and pounce techniques on this floor. The white contrast to her black attire would give her away easily, so the best they could do was to surround the enemy. Let Raidou take front line and bulk the attacks while she laid into the enemy. Easily said, easily done.

The kitsune's light footsteps barely left tracks in the snow behind her as she circled around the beast, pulling out her weapon of death. The scythe gleamed against the snow, turning white to activate her newest sword art. The enemy was still trying to collect itself while she made her attack do it wasn't difficult to get off.

"Shine!" The Obsidian weapon cracked the bones of the skeleton on impact. The girl stepped back, waiting for Raidou to control of the monster.

A burning white hue dances upon Megitsune's blade when she calls "Shine!" as if visible silver moonlight, pieces of the permafrost that composes its frame scatter in ice shrapnel from the impact, Raidou shifts his robe and shifts his weight. The bloody smoke on his back grows thicker as it rises to the sky. The beast shutters a bit, visibly affected by the aura the swordsman was producing. "You do remember me, don't you? Let us finish what we started that day." Raidou barks out as his stance shifts and his blade takes on a reddish glow wrapped around the cool grey steel of the dull weapon.

Raidou uses Howl!

The beast recoils as its senses become distorted, Megitsune who it was staring at turns to a fuzzed static blackness. Turning its massive stature to the swordsman, it laughs in a hefty bellow as it lifts a pillar of ice that was its arm. Slamming it down in a cleaving blow toward the male in red. Raidou shifts and slides, his feet moving more fluidly then on the floor 2 the night prior. Dropping the edge down, and tossing the handle over his shoulder he pivots and slams the cleaver like sword into the creature's incoming blow, redirecting the blow to the ground at his side to the flutter of his robe and a shower of broken ice.

The Fox watched as the Raidou's display took hold of the monster's attention. His gaze was fierce, not like before, on floor 2 where they had met, he fought but had no intention, along with on floor 1. After her committing to kicking him in the face and opening his true heart, he had become someone with ambition and strength. It was good to see confidence in others, especially when they were fighting with you.

The kitsu's blade gleamed white once again, slashing up the bone and sending the crackling pieces into the snow. She could deal so much damage with single attacks without so much effort! She would need to load up on these potions and food to make sure that she could destroy anything that dared to mess with her. The power in her scythe would see her to the top floor of this tower. This game would not take her.

Raidou rips his blade back up to neutral with a red color fading from the blade, his aggressive parry deactivating and changing to a more cooled silvered gray. "I have your attention then..." Raidou says softly with a quick visual peel about the creature's frame.

Raidou flourishes as a target is found, aiming to exploit the weaknesses in the beast as he turns in a fluid rotation. The beast slams its heavy right arm into Raidou's chest who takes the blow although winded. With a cough, Raidou turns the blade over and jams it between the segments where the ice connects and rips it free with a glowing grayish arc that tosses the large right arm from its body. "Better..." Raidou chokes out as he fixes his glasses that were disturbed in the impact.

Ashen colored bone broke off with Raidou's attack, sending shards of its body flying into the snow. Fox continued to assess the situation, making sure there was no danger to her. That thing would annhilate her if it landed an attack on her judging from how much damage it shook from Raidou. She wasn't scared though. The blackened blade of her scythe scratched open the tough skeleton of it's body.

"Already almost dead?" The Fox said a bit disappointingly. She was hoping for something a little challenging coming out of an enemy that could deal that massive amount of damage to a single person. She wasn't even going to run out of energy on this one if it died in her next attack after Raidou's. She wondered if it dropped anything useful to her. Hopefully it would considering how tough it was supposed to be when you didn't have a good tank fighting with you.

With his gambit damaging his life bar before a pulse of energy as if skills in his roster were coming back online after being dormant. The tear on his chest begins to close up as the glowing hit shrinks slightly. "Compromised now, a little more pressure and you'll fall apart." As he twists the blade in his grasp with a light claiming the edge. Leaning down Raidou waits carefully for the coming assault. The beast retracts and begins to rush toward the swordsman to which Megitsune blasts it hard from its back, a blackened blur cleaving frost from its back in a finessed slash with grace and speed creating a visible glowing gap. It continues the charge as Raidou remains focused in a silence. Eventually, the gap closes on a rampage of the titan. Raidou rips up and drops the blade to his right side, a quick pivot pulls the handle above his left shoulder to a sound of cracking thunder. The beast scatters to pieces, causing a moment of pause as it reforms as its stampede is reduced to inaction.

It's health bar dipped into the red now. It wouldn't be long before the duo finished the field boss with their combined damage. She brandished her sickle once more, it burning a white hot color that looked as though it could tear through anything. As she approached the best, a clump of ice met her toes. She rammed her foot into the ice and fell on her front end into the snow.

The kitsune stood up quickly, but her sword art had been canceled from falling into the snow and consumed her energy as well. That was bull, but it was part of the system, besides, its not like the matter was pressing or anything. The white of the snow cloaked her black clothing in hints of white. She wouldn't miss the next attack, and snow wouldn't stop her. She dusted the white speckles off her clothing and took hold of her scythe, readying herself for the next attack.

Raidou allows it to reform, as a show of strength, he wanted it fully functioning to prove to himself that he was back in the saddle. Megitsune was seeming to have some trouble with the uneven flooring, but the nomad would not chastise her for it. The beast reforms as Raidou holds his blade steady awaiting its attack, allowing it to strike freely and putting his equipment and skills to the test. Like a defibrillator, these impacts would rekindle who he once was, on this field he had abandoned a prior self still lodged in the snow. He aimed to recover himself, a heavy handed blow slammed into his head knocking the frames from his eyes. Twisting his head back to staring at the frozen mass of mobile ice as it chuckles. A burning gaze of amber eyes shown upon a rather ragged looking face, locked in a glare as the flame was rekindling the pyre as Raidou's health was more than green despite a satisfying impact of hearty measure.

The white hot blade gleamed through the snow one again. It was difficult to see how Raidou was doing to since the blanket of white was keeping them from seeing very well, thankfully the bone-y ice golem was clear as day. 

The Fox rushed her target once again, tromping carefully thought the snow, making sure not trip on the ice again. However, her carefulness was going to be an upsetting realization. She was so focused on not tripping that her blade came up empty with its attack. The only thing that felt her bite was the snow near it's giant feet. 

The kitsune took a gander at their health bars. She was still completely full and doing fine on energy, Raidou's health points were around 75% but nothing to worry about right now. The beast had one or two more good hits left before it would be toppled, and she might get to deal the killing blow.

Raidou takes the brunt of the blow happily as his battle healing starts to activate, refueling his HP bar with little issue. The beast hesitates for a moment as Megitsune moves to position and Raidou does not catch her missing the attack, and had faith in her follow up. The scorn of the automaton of ice was tangible, Raidou could feel the anger as it tries to attack. the red wanderer has no opportunity to attack as he blocks and shatters a large projectile of ice, as the hostile entity sizes him up looking for a way to gain the upper hand. However due to Raidou's focus entirely on defense give it no ground to stand on, easily reducing the fury fueled attack to nothing more then a scatter of permafrost with a brilliant red blade.

Raidou shifts and shoves the blade between the gaps in its chest as he lunges forward, breaking them apart removing its legs as a quick jab of his unused martial arts with his back leg pushes the dislodged piece free. A detachment causes it to become unstable, leaving the part exposed while it rolls to reassemble.

No more fooling around. This boss would feel her wrath and two simple misses in a row were not going to stop her ferocious assault. The Megitsune turned her blade underhanded to switch her grip and jumped up into the area, rotating the scythe forward and bearing down on the golem of ice and stone. The blade sunk deep into the elemental's head, able to be seen through its clear blue skin of ice. With loud growl and a heavy heave, the Megitsune tore her blade through it's rough exterior, grinding its back completely open with the claw-like blade.

Once her weapon was free, she kicked off the golem's back and into Raidou. He could likely finish off the remaining health points with his weapon, but she would be ready to back up the final attack if need be. The fox landed gracefully in the snow without much problem, a welcome change of pace for the last two attempted attacks.

A magnificent show of strength from the girl, proving that level although important was simply a number. A grand cleave leaves the beast with a gaping wound from where her impressive weapon had dug deep and dislodged away most of its formability. "The game has changed, now let's lay the past to rest." Raidou remarked as a reddish hue claims his blade, while the beast staggers and roars and starts to stampede toward the nomad in red. Pieces fall free from the monster as its integrity is compromised, in its frenzied charge components falling lose. Raidou turns and pivots with a sidestep around the reckless beast, dropping blade to its backdropping it to low laying clumps of frost. Still alive but weakened severely, Raidou leans forward to create a stepping ladder for the girl to get airborne. After all, he was not in this alone and she was already taking strides toward her own escape.

Raidou did what he could dodge the next attack. Even if he survived the trampling, it could have been dangerous to take it. Another stroke of adrenaline fuels to the yokai with energy. The gear she had was empowering her attacks, a welcome change from the older levels where she would run out of energy almost immediately. Raidou leaned down a few meters ahead of her between her and the golem. A grin behind her white mask formed on her lips: She knew exactly what to do.

Taking off on a sprint the girl set the attack, placing her foot on Raidou's back and kicking herself up. A flurrying tornado of white and black hinted with red rampage through the air. Her blade, combined with the momentum, embedded itself into the elemental's neck, digging through only partially. Hanging onto the golem's neck with her scythe completely latched into it's body, the woman struggled with it's resistance. 

"You still resist my strength?! Nai! This is where your story ends!" A heavy growl bellowed from behind her fake-face as she screamed the final word that it would hear until it respawned: "Shine!!!" Cracks splintered down its body until it finally exploded into data. The force from the blow sent the Fox flying sporadically. Her frame spazzed through the air in every direction, flipping and turning crazily until she landed into the snow. She laid there momentarily, sinking in her victory.
