GetComfy 0 Posted May 14, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2020 (edited) GetComfy | Mason Zheng | 24 | Male | 5'8" | 160lbs Appearance Mason is often described as a messy looking individual and it's quite obvious in the first five seconds you see him. Scraggly, messy hair that is often pulled back into a not so clean ponytail. A usually unclean face with budding facial hair (he honestly likes the bits of a goatee forming on his face), but he does his best to wash up and shave every now and then - he can't be that messy after all. Not only that, but the almost lanky nature of his physique does not help with the almost hobo aesthetic he has going on. Then again, nothing screams hobo except for the fact that he's usually wearing loose, unkempt clothing all the time. This man needs help for his sense of fashion will ruin everyone. History Mason is a strange one in life. Good family. Good academics. Good life. Yet he's such an uber NEET. He finds enjoyment in living frugally and doing simple tasks. Other days, he finds himself sitting around playing games with other people simply because he enjoys his time with them. For someone who was deadset on a path to a good future, one might say he was wasting his life away. And perhaps he was. But for Mason, the almost frugal, yet simple lifestyle he's pursuing was very appealing. For Mason... He was in the pursuit of the comfy life. So he continues to live this way, despite what everyone tells him. Even when told that this way of life would only bring him doom, Mason just smiled and kept walking forward without any regrets. That's why when he heard about Sword Art Online, it was practically a deal breaker for him. It's like having a second life, except being comfy was amplified by the fact that he's playing a game in a fantasy world. Why seek sights outside of his home when the sights are in his home? So! He had to get in on this and pulled a lot of strings - making promises - so that he can ever have the chance into getting such a pioneering game. And when he finally got said opportunity... Well, you know Mason. He put that headset on without any regrets. And then he began to regret it. A game of death - he didn't want to die... But he'll keep moving. He has to. He has a life out there, y'know? Places to be comfy. Places to rest. So he'll make do. Personality Mason is seemingly a flighty individual, but those who know him well would understand that he gets the job done - it's just the matter of when he gets it done. His life-motto of being stress free is demonstrated in every action. A lazy attitude. Little care for failure and success. For him, bad feelings are a thing of the past! For his life in the present day and in the future - good vibes only! However, if you get Mason going, he'll probably put a bit of effort in. After all, even though he cares little for the results, succeeding would be a pretty nice bonus. Otherwise though, except him to find a way to relax and get comfy. He'll especially try to get other people to do so as well since being comfy is more fun with friends. ~~ Virtues ~~ Casual - “Take a seat and relax!" Mason lives by a code, and that code has three simple tenets. One, get comfy. Life is at its best when you can be cozy, warm, and safe. Two, stay relaxed. Life is much too short to be stressed out about everything so take a chill pill! Last but not least, be alive. This tenet for him, is the most important one. For far too long has he seen people dwell in apathy and sadness. For far too long has he seen shells of people walk on this - not quite alive but not quite dead. That is no way to live, so let's lighten up the future for them! People Person - “Hey, c'mon, we're all friends now, aren't we?" Mason likes talking. In fact, he likes talking so much that he loves making friends and knowing how to talk to said friends. After all, friends is a big portion of life so he figured might as well be very good at it. Always trying to please people. Always trying to keep them lighthearted. Always trying to support them. For him, his heart has room for many because quite simply, people deserve it (unless they don't, but that's for another time). Hopelessly Optimistic... - “As long as I'm still around and kicking, I'm sure things will get better for me." There's no way to kick down Mason's good mood. His line of logic is quite simple: Things may have gone downhill but eventually it has to get better. That's why even if he's down and out on the ground, he'll pick himself up and try again. For him, defeat is only a minor setback that's getting in the way of a victory. For him, living life in fear is no way to live at all. For him, living life as if it was an ephemeral dream is much better. -- Flaws -- Way Too Casual - “What's the rush? Living life this way is boring." The casual manner in which Mason lives his life unfortunately works against him in this death game. After all, one must always take battle seriously - especially when it's life or death. Yet Mason here tends to keep it calm, cool, and collected. Almost to the extreme to be exact. It's like the threat of death does not scare him, thus it does not push him to go beyond his limits. And when you do not go beyond your limits... You stagnate. Unorganized - "Shoot, where are all my things again...? What was I doing?" If Mason's messy appearance did not clue people in, then the fact that his tendency to leave things astray everywhere would be the deal breaker. Not only that, but the fact that he can forget to bring important items or even important gear is the final nail in the coffin. Thankfully there is an inventory system - oh god, how is it this unorganized why are you scrolling through pages upon pages of things you don't even need. At least it's hard to mess up your priorities - and there he goes, in the opposite direction of the quest. He's quite forgetful. And, well... Terrible work ethics. ... to the Bitter End - "There is no rock bottom - sometimes you slip and slide down!" Unfortunately, all dreams must end. Sometimes, defeat is an absolute one with consequences far beyond of what he can deal with. Sometimes, you really do have to give up because that is simply how the world works. And unfortunately, this line of logic does not appeal to him. So he'll keep fighting and living as if he's in a fairy tale land, all the way to the bitter end. Sometimes, there are no victors.
