[F1-PP] Working together (Forth Lessons)

[Eruda 0]

Eruda wakes early, just before dawn breaks in the sky. Sam was still asleep and she knew that because Sam was already sleeping when she got back last night that yesterday must have been a rough day. Remembering what Setsuna told her, that Sam needed more work, Eruda frowns a bit knowing that it was true but didn't know how to help yet. Right now she had her own problems to worry about. Working with Gaius for the first time. Not knowing anything about him besides what Setsuna told her and that he was a cook. The others seemed to follow her orders just fine before but she was not sure if Gaius would be so reluctant to do the same. Setsuna and Eruda seemed to have an understanding, so if it came down to it she would simply offer her opinion this time to everyone and would see what they thought before taking action. Never working with Simmone either, but she seemed to be willing to follow from what Eruda asked last time of Simmone for the previous lesson. All this would only work if Eruda could get past her fear of being in a bigger group of people. Regardless, Eruda main goal would be to keep everyone alive and well. Not sure what to expect from this quest, but just knowing that it could be dangerous, Eruda would not allow the others to be hurt. This was Raidou's team which means to her that this was her team as well, therefore she would do everything in her power to protect each and every one of them no matter what.

Some time goes by as all this information was rushing through her mind. She finally gets to her feet as she hears Sam snore. Eruda can't help but giggle a bit, as she gathers her equipment and heads out to the Town of beginnings. Grabbing the quest from the board she sits on the edge of the fountain as the sun begins to rise in the sky. Eruda sends a message through the guild chat saying "Be safe today everyone. Setsuna, Gaius, and Simmone... I am waiting with the forth lessons quest ready to share it when you are ready." With a chime of her HUD, the message was sent. Eruda sends a party invite to all three of them awaiting their arrival as she reads over the quest information.

Another message, expected from Sam barking orders in a way she was not fit to. However this one was from Eruda, one with the kind of head on her shoulders to lead. A sleepless night in the town of beginnings went by in silence, activity had been dwindling down as of late. It meant that Setsuna's actions were doing exactly as intended. Wiping the dried stickiness from her face, she stands and drops from the rooftop she was perched on. A few moments later she finds the fountain, and the gleaming heavy armor in polish stands in front of her topped with blonde hair. "Eruda" Setsuna pays the greeting and takes to a sit on the fountain. A target and invite quickly accepted, with no hesitation as her impatience with these trivial tasks was wearing thin. Removing her blade from its sheath, a blackened slab of iron and a small rod with a ball of cotton hones her weapon as she waits reluctantly for the rest to arrive.

Checking the stalls around the town of beginnings, quite the sum of coin in her pocket but not for personal purchase which was a shame. But given the wealth and luxury, the guild was offering she could hardly complain not being allowed to spoil herself. Not that anything these imbeciles were pedaling was worth a second glance, Simmone shoves the bag back into her sleeve. A sudden message rings into her HUD a small blue icon in the shape of an envelope. "Back to business." Simmone chuckles and with a snap of her fingers her merchantile yukata evolves into her combat oriented black jumpsuit. "Duty calls." as one of the players who manage to see her figure in the quick change drops his jaw, she speaks toward him with a smile. A short jaunt with a softened and swayed step. "Good morning girls, wheres our idiot at?" she says with a smile, as Gaius was beginning to grow on her.

A cup of joe to go, Gaius relished in their patience. His breakfast is still ripe in his belly that would tide him over a couple of hours. From floor 9 in the field of wheat in a golden blanket to the tanned brick of the town of beginnings. "Been waiting long ladies?" Gaius smiles as he slides next to Setsuna who glares at him, but he completely ignores the stare of death she's giving the side of his head. "So what is dying today?" He asks leaning forward and placing his elbows on his knees, asking Eruda what the deal was. An accepted party invite and a hastily and unread quest description. It was early but given he had been allowed time to adjust his temper was rather minimal, still ever present but tame as he chills on the fountain waiting for the party leader with blonde hair to produce some direction on where they were headed.

When Setsuna sits next to Eruda, she was fine. The other two show up and Eruda's nerves start to freak out and all she can think is not now why now.  She closes her eyes for a second to even her breath as to not show them she was freaking out. Eruda gets to her feet and tries to speak evenly but instead saying "A l-l-large Fish." A small huff comes from her face as she was angry with herself now for sounding a bit stupid. Eruda starts walking to the docks where Pete the fisherman was to start the quest. Now facing away from the group, Eruda has realized that it was easier to speak when she wasn't making eye contact. "Let me take point if that's okay. I don't doubt that any of you could kill it quickly but I need to know that I can keep its attention if things were to go south in other worse situations than this." While she walks, her head is tilting up slightly to the dawn sky. "I would hate for anyone of you to get hurt while you're with me," she turns and stops for a moment to look back with a sincere glance with every word being as honest as she could make them, hoping that they would be okay with that. "Just let me get the first hit in and you guys can kill it." Eruda turns back a makes haste toward the docks.

Having a small conversation with Pete, he looks at the group behind Eruda and starts to get his boat ready to sail.

[Setsuna 0]

A failed sentiment, for a creature that no longer could stand could not perform an attack. Remaining silent Setsuna keeps to Eruda's heels after the girls attempt to lead, her senses telling her that was more under the surface but she was curious as to what as it was still obscured. An old gentleman rather quiet tending to a board on a weather worn dock, taking a line from a shoe meant to anchor his vessel to the structure. With a quick couple hops, one to a column to support the piece the second lands her fleet foot to the raft. A nod as Eruda confirms the voyage, Setsuna takes a seat and awaits the conclusion of this task. It was not going to be difficult, she would make sure of it with all of her training so she may progress ever forward with fewer distractions from her attempts at growth.

Simmone got the gist of what Eruda was trying to convey before her speech cleared, a moment's pause to allow her to finish the explanation. "Alright dear, lead the way then." she responds to the blonde in heavy armor allowing her to take the lead, intrigued at the notions she was setting forth as she was troubled with some sort of insecurity. To the docks and a rather ragged looking NPC with age painted upon liver spotted skin. Eruda handles the finer point as Simmone finds her way to the rather unstable looking vessel next to Setsuna. The girl was quite silent, with a feeling of unbroadcasted aggression in her cool demeanor. Care taken to not be too close to the girl, remembering the response Sam had received attempting to touch the girl and was not going to stoke the fire and take a repeated backlash. These journeys seemed rather turbulent and Simmone could not help but find the truth to Raidou's first statement.

A confused furl on his brow, what the hell was this all about. "So you want me to pull my punches and just let you get hit. Tell you what, you hit it first if you are quick enough or else it's dead. Giant fish is interesting." Gaius remarks with honesty and intrigue as to how such a fillet of food would taste. He was not a man to pull his punches and Eruda would not change that. His ultimatum dropped and the stage set Gaius holds to her heels, following in tow to the docks the girl was leading them to. He left her to deal with the pain in the a** NPC as he had had about enough of the constant droll they had a habit of spewing in excess, A lunge into the boat causes it to rock slightly as he lands. "Hurry the hell up old timer, I don't have all day for you to crawl your cripple a** over here."

[Eruda 0]

Eruda listens to Gaius words and simple just nods knowing that there was a possibility that she could miss. Climbing into the boat she takes a fishing pole from Pete. "First, we need to catch it" is all Eruda says as the boat Pete gets onto the crowded boat as well and sets sail to the open water. Not looking at Gaius saying "If I miss it's all yours. It will just prove I need to work harder." Not really knowing how to fish she looks to Pete and he shows her the basic. Catching on quickly, Eruda sends the line flying out to the waters as soon as they get far enough out. Eruda focuses on nothing but the fishing attempt not wanting to make a fool of herself.

Eruda sits there for a while and something starts to pull on the line and not knowing the mechanics of fishing at all Eruda pulls the line in to soon leaving the line empty. Eruda frowns but looks to Setsuna. In a small voice saying "You wanna try?" as she motions the fishing pole out to Setsuna.

Setsuna just lists idly not interested in the fishing aspect in the slightest. She does not even pick up the rod in question and remains in a silent stance in a dormant state as though around her beckon action. A stare into her palm and an adjust of the glove upon it allows it snugger to her skin, she looks to Gaius and Simmone. The brute was simply jamming his weapon into the water while Simmone gingerly casts with an elegant flick but you could tell on her face that it was not something she was enjoying. The team still showed some inconsistency as Setsuna looks to Eruda, she had quite a job ahead of her if she was hoping to cull them into a more standard and operational grouping. A voice was needed, one that was still outside her capability as she felt the issues in her voice when she spoke prior.

The black cat was not enjoying this boring chore, as the lapping of water along the vessel as it cut a path across the water. The pole skid along the water with no activity, to which it just lists through casting ripples as its drug along. "Well this is going to be interesting." Simmone exclaims with a sigh, as this manual labor was rather bland and she considered it beneath her. A yawn as the boredom coupled with the state of the day was doing a fair job of helping to make her drowsy again. Hopefully this would be the last, and silently she was looking forward to the quest with Raidou, the very same broadcasted by Eruda. Her thoughts drift even further back to the black odyssey and the modifications she would have to make to accommodate Sam and to the girls and what she may be doing in her absence.

Gaius was glad that Eruda figured it out instead of trying to impose her decision on him. "Then hit first and you won't have that issue." Flailing about with a few jabs off the side of the boat using his glaive like a harpoon, Gaius huffs and occasionally almost tips out into the pool with each splash. "Damn things, come're damn you." he barks as his third attempt at falling in is caught from the side of the raft. Sliding back in as Pete chuckles "You wanna capsize us you idiot!" Gaius turns back "Shut up old man!" pivoting his spear around looking earnestly into the water with a bit of interest to taste the magnificent beast once it was removed from the lake. His thoughts shifted to seasonings and potential recipes to use, hopefully he could coerce the old man to spare him a slab of the choice cut beast.

Seeing the large fish taunting us at this point by swimming just under the boat Eruda looks to Pete saying "Can you move the boat a bit." Pete looks a bit confused saying "I'm not sure how that will help," and Eruda responds with "Just please move the boat." Pete shrugs and paddles the boat a few feet from where it was sitting. Eruda goes to the other side of the boat and puts a hand on the edge of the boat looking into the water watching for any movement that would indicate where the fish might be now that the boat was moved.

Eruda looks closer into the water and in a small distance away she sees a plash of what looks like a tail, Eruda smirks. She quickly gets her pole and sents the line out where the splash took place. Come on you stupid thing Eruda thinks to herself as the large fish catches the line. Her line starts going crazy but Eruda uses all her strength to keep hold of her pole. Eruda manages to get it a few feet from the boat before saying "Setsuna, Gaius, Simmone I'll keep it steady. Kill it and get it onto the boat!" At this moment Eruda was focusing on keeping the fish at bay hoping that they would hurry so it didn't getaway. The large fish was strong but Eruda seemed to be just as strong keeping it next to the boat. At this point, she didn't care who hit it first, just that it was dead before it could attack anyone.

Finally a change in prospects with the fish now found as the NPC coot moves the boat closer at the blonde tanks call, Eruda had pulled up the monster from the ocean. She had a target now at an end of a long drawn annoyance was these lesson's quests. Standing and a slow step toward the creature, as Simmone and Gaius were aiding Eruda to bring it onboard. A slight slide of her katana out of its saya, with a glimmer of its edge among the sunlight. A sudden tear of the blade "Iai: Death's Door" a sudden blue flash to the click of her blade back to its sheath. Taking a step away as it ceases to move but appearing attacked. "Let's head back, now that it is over." She takes her seat again as the head falls free in a clean slide from its body. It plummets with a slightly slimy sound before it bursts into data.

A sudden shift causes the boat to rock as she turns and sees the blonde tank struggling. Eruda had it on the line, Simmone shuffles over quickly to help drag it into the vessel before it struggled free. "Well done Eruda, don't let it go!" As she grasps the flailing beast in its soggy tail trying to wrestle it to the boat. "Gaius help us get it up here and put it down." she turns to look to Gaius to beckon him to aid them. He rushes over with a hop, latching himself to it as well bringing it up in tandem. A few soft steps behind the group have Simmone assuming it was Setsuna to help the grapple but a sudden blast of blue light causes it to fall limp before it turns to pieces. "Oh my..." Simmone exclaims as it drops to the floor into a broken silhouette leaving a decapitated carcass behind ready for transit.

[Gaius 0]

Gaius struggles for a moment as the activity causes him to spring to action like a puppy with a ball. The boat rocks just a bit more as he lunges from one side to the other in a flash. Latching his hands to the beast causing the scales to press in with his hands, his glaive bouncing on the interior of the vessel as it falls. "Alright, thanks for the meal!" Gaius shouts as he tightens his grip digging his nails into the creature's skin as it worms about, trying to through the three players latched to it off before. It was obviously agitated, as was Pete gave this massive beast was now on his rather rickety boat. The soft and slowed steps behind him go by unnoticed by most of the players involved. A quick kill to a sheathed weapon, Gaius chuckles as its head vanishes. "Damn nice one." he remarks at such a decisive removal of the problem with little effort from the child.

"Well done, well done. Let us get the nelly home," Pete calls out to everyone as the large fish was taking up most of the room inside the boat. Eruda was breathing a bit heavy due to the holding to bring it in and up the boat. Looking to Simmone with a smile, then to Setsuna. Eruda can't bring herself to say anything more. The boat starts to head back to the docks. Eruda looks to Gaius who was eyeing the fish probably wonder what meals he could make out of it. Smiling in his direction then back at the other 2. She sits on the small seating they had and looks into the water. After a bit of time goes by they get back to the docks and Eruda was the first off the boat as everyone's HUD chimes in unison for the quest completion. Pete hops off the boat and walks to Eruda saying "I would like you to have this. It's just a little thanks for helping out since you were the first to talk to me," Pete hands her a wrapped dish of food. Eruda takes it confused where he may have got it from but takes it. 

Pete goes back to messing with the large swordfish now dead on his boat. Eruda looks at the dish and looks to Gaius. Walking to him with her nerves a bit out of wack she says "I'm sorry I tried to order you around. I want you to have this, I am not that hungry anyway." Looking to the rest of the group talking to all of them now "I will be helping Raidou with some stuff. If you a message is sent through guild chat from me, just know that it was what Raidou asked of all of us. I wish all of you the best of luck with Raidou on this next quest." Eruda smiles in all her guildmates and starts to walk away when her HUD chimes. She stops and opens the message seeing now that it was from Freya saying "Please Eruda I need to talk with you," and tears start to form in her eyes. "NO, I WON'T" Eruda calls out before violently closing out her HUD. Eruda knows that she might have said that a bit too loud so she starts running to the beginning city, making her way toward the guildhall to distract her mind from thinking about Freya.

With an expedited retreat having caught their required creature in a fairly quick instance, and felled with a single swing the day was mostly salvaged. Eruda extracts herself with a few of her own problems apparently bubbling to the surface. Setsuna looks to the girl a bit perplexed, perhaps she was mistaken in assuming she could handle what would be required of her. The quest finishes on her HUD, clearing the objective from its side as it fades to grey before vanishing completely. Looking upward into the pale blue, she leaps from the boat. With silent steps she walks away in silence. No words needed to be spoken, Eruda would need to sort herself out if she wished to continue. A flashed message on her HUD, a PM from Raidou specifically as if Eruda had beckoned it with the last sentence. "Finally" Setsuna whispered to the forest, opening to read its contents.

A bit waterlogged and reeking of the fish she had to manhandle, Simmone felt gross after today's escapades. She needed a bath, and as the boat came to dock Eruda finished the quest for them. Passing a portion of food to Gaius, moments later shouting something Simmone couldn't quite make out as she was peeling herself from the vessel. Simmone walks along the docks, taking special care to distance her hands from her face as much as she could. A look to Gaius she asks "What was all that about?" with interest as usually Eruda was much more cool headed. She had hoped that it was not Gaius had done, he had a habit of causing problems with everyone including her but seemed rather tame today. She supposed she would have to wait and see what was to come of this, and whatever would come after waited on the horizon.

Gaius leaps from the boat and offers the old coot a hand as he attempts to drag the ship back into dock. Pulling a tanned twine rope tighter, Pete pulling a quick knot to lock it in place he remarks to Gaius "Thank yah boy." to which he replies "Don't mention it old timer." Hoping to buy just a bit of brownie points at a chance of a cut of the beast. Eruda holds a conversation with Pete while Gaius collects up the rods, trying to be a good boy and help out for a slab of beef. Eruda comes up to him and passes him a box "Thanks!" Gaius looks at the container greedily as his suspicions of what lay inside were confirmed as he takes a hefty whiff with his mouth salivating. Snapping back to reality as Eruda storms off after saying something or the other. Looking at the girl confused as she runs off, Simmone approaches from the side and asks about it. "Dunno, she just ran." Gaius remarks to little interest, his focus so dwelled on the food that it was all he could think about.
