[F2-PP] Chilled Air (Venomous Warg)

[Raidou 1]

To the silent night a risen moon high in the sky Raidou adjusts a pair of red glasses to his face, newly forged by Kasumi it would prove of use in this quest that he needed to land his hatred and draw completely the focus of the creatures they were expected to face. A scan of the location waiting at Gatsby for Setsuna to show, the girl should know better than to waste time. A shift of his menus around and running some statistics the chances of him sustaining any real damage should still be marginal with this new addition. The night was still rather young however, so the girl had some time before it wore thinner. Adjusting his robe with an obvious red punch through the darkness, he was more than suited for this exercise and it would be an excellent opportunity for him to test the girl for capability and capability.

A drop from the surrounding canopy to the tanned brick, with a clack of her heels upon the stone walkway as she descends. A flutter of her hair and shifting leaves in her wake, Setsuna looks to Raidou with a response "Sorry I am late, I was still wrapping up the last quest." A gestured point from Raidou refers her to Gatsby, seeming important to her with his little action. A turn with her frozen eyes to Gatsby he seems to light up as he was waiting as well. "I need help!" exclaims as soon Setsuna's attentions meet his gaze. "Fine what would you have me do?" Setsuna mutters coldly to the NPC who then explains the full requirements to the girl. A nod she looks back at Raidou who was already beating a path away from the girl. A few quickened steps bridge the gap between them as to not fall too far behind.

[Raidou 1]

Raidou walked along in silence, it was surely deafening between the pair. But neither where ones for words as the path to the final step to the truest form of his expectations would be paved on the blood of these wargs. This would be his second rendition of many of this quest, an intention in each to test those he brought in a one on one scenario. It would prove a useful tool to gauge response and more importantly how fluidly Setsuna and the rest work with the others. A taste and teaser in the lessons chain had linked varied parties together and with a word from them and a prying eye at times brought their incompatibility to a forefront, ready to be ironed out before things grew more lethal. A sudden break from the curving pathing into the wilderness under darkened moonlight, Raidou was familiar with direction and the requirements as it was fresh in his memory.

[Setsuna 0]

Setsuna walked with a rather silent and softened patter of her feet behind the red robe. "What do we expect to face?" Setsuna asked the would-be guild master, eager to prove once and for all she was capable so this constant droll of tedious nonsense could end. She had had about enough of this charade, looking about the forest canopy with darkened leaves with a breeze that caused a subtle stir among them. It was ominous but the girl had nothing to fear, for any that brought aggression would meet the end of her blade as quickly as they showed. Her question passes by unanswered, a recall of what he had spoken before. That when it was important he would offer an explanation, spoken during that time on floor 1 with the others. She was different then and so was he. Another glance back to that vibrant red robe, as if something had broken loose permanently Setsuna could feel the shift. What had changed, did you find strength while we were doing these quests, Raidou?

[Raidou 1]

A raised hand as the perimeter is reached, Raidou recalled this was the very spot that opened to the much larger section of the forest. The very same the wolves and warg had been prior with Fuyuko. Breaking the silence between them the mass parry tank looks down to the girl, finding her eyes through mirrored lenses he answers her questions "Warg and 3 standard wolves, the larger is the alpha. salva is toxic, I would wish you to strike first. Do not strike the lowers until the alpha is dead. A single instant of anger and you fail, these are the special conditions of your mission. Scan around the back as I approach from the front, strike when I am in position then kill the leader first. Focus only on this and slay the other 3 last. Those are your requirements, if you fail to do this task your time with Firm Anima ends here. No risk, emotion finds no purchase on the battlefield, control it and you will carry on with the strength of many. Fail and you will be left behind." Raidou gave it to her straight with a softened but firm voice, he spoke to her as an equal not as a child.

Paying him a glare she fought with the pride in her stomach, but an advancement through the past brought her respect strong enough to hold her tongue. Who was he to give her such an ultimatum, a finality, and a failure condition. A silent nod with a bit of reluctance she lifts her mask onto her face before she leaps into the canopy with a spring of her legs. Sliding into the trees and shifting from top to treetop she peers down into the opening as Raidou moves further into position, the visibility of his robe clear as day despite the night. Her quarry she could see as well as the stir of a pack of four began to rise in his descent into their domain. She questioned the routine, the motive of such a direct approach as it appeared idiotic to walk straight into the face of danger. Who was she to question it however, after all he had done for her.

[Raidou 1]

Raidou could see her rushing through the trees, although these glasses were not as magnified they proved well enough off he could perceive her through her coverage as bounced from branch to branch. The warg began to stir with each step he took, furling up and beginning to growl as a warning for the swordsman to extract himself from their home. Stopping dead center the alpha howls as the rest of his pack lifts from their slumber. To their feet they stand and with slowed step the gap closes between the tank and the creatures who intended him a new meal. Brandishing the black star, a quick shift of a weapon becoming more fitted in his hand with each swing he uses his left to adjust the red framed lens to his face deeper. It was about to be messy and he didn't want them to fall off due to what was to come next.

[Setsuna 0]

They had noticed Raidou and Setsuna assumed this was her queue to act. Choosing her target wisely the slightly larger and differently skinned beast must be the culprit, unsheathing just a slight of the blade in her hands that cast a silvered glimmer from the lighting of the moon. She could feel her nerves bundling in her chest as her weapon begin to be fueled with energy. It was not fear but rather, she did not want to fail. Dropping and drawing a wide curved light blue cleave of light toward the king of the pack it shifts down and now aware to the girl bares its teeth with a purple ooze dripping from its maw. A snarl as it lunges toward Setsuna who was now exposed and the frey begins as she allows her moment to flee as quickly as it came and was now staring at the pack of four in the face.

A real combat scenario and a confirmed fear as convincing oneself as prepared and the actual fact were upon two sides of the line. Either the girl hit and was still uncomfortable or missed and exposed was a truth. This was the very reason why the swordsman chose this particular mission as these were more ferocious than the boars in second lessons and as such were much tougher to take down, and he would witness first hand the calm if it showed and the ability to remain focused when it wasn't as easy. The black star lit with cool grey light, as Raidou shifts to a sprint, the cardinal aiding his speed before a stop pivot and slide drop the weapon in a heavy cleave down into the pack. The blow comes with a seismic impact of absurd proportion as 3 are hit directly and scatter to the wind in all directions like rocks upon a surface of water. Raidou withdrawals his weapon with one a glowing red cleave on its side only being grazed by the dulled sword.

Her reticence to follow instruction fades with one form of show and tell, Raidou quickly exerts a powerful blow right in the center of the pack. She struggles for a moment to track down the leader as they fire off in all directions like shrapnel from the guild leaders one attack. A moment of hesitation from awe fades as her target is picked out, Setsuna sees it limp and struggles to regain its footing. Her moment had come and as she starts to sprint with a quick leap a glimmer of her blade as its drawn. She drops behind the beast, as her weapon ticks back in its sheath a bright red line begins to form as the precision cut takes a moment to separate. A shift and slide Setsuna builds a silhouette of mist about her frame and leaps into the treeline as it envelops her frame and displaces her from harm.

The group begins to regain its footing, Raidou clearly had their full attention after an attack like that. Good he thought as he shifts his feet, setting up his stance for an earnest defense. Now the play would start and a full check of the girl's part within the group and her ability to follow orders would be tested. "I expect you to exploit these weaknesses." Raidou spoke as he shifts knowing the girl could here is rather loud and firm shout, the gruesome pack brings up the ring to move in closer. They circle him with barred teeth, pooled saliva dripping from the clenched jaw. "Only the leader, control that fury. You hit any of the others and you fail this test. I need precision not a wild animal. Prove you are capable, Setsuna." he yells to the treeline as the wolves pounce. A quick pivot and turn, a slide of his steel around with a flash of lights and sparks as he twirls the blade around kicking the wolves away with relative ease. A red banner left unscathed, proving his abilities to the girl.

Setsuna nods in silence as she watches on, a sense of almost worry in her mind as the entire group seemed dead set on the blood in the leader's veins. To her surprise and rhythm of parried blows, with a one handed blade he blocks every attack made. Without breaking a sweat or batting an eye he barks some orders, Setsuna at first wanted to run things by her own method but this change in how things were flowing was not something she could argue with. Only the leader the phrase sticks in her head, becoming almost blind to the others. Her routine would have be altered, she could swing wildly if she didn't want to clip the other creatures. A glint of her katana from its saya, calming herself and trying to focus on her intention as Kyoshi's words that brought about the steel she carried. Perhaps he was right. A quick rip of her blade under fleet foot, she uses it in a horizontal slice in a blink of her into visibility. A bright red gash upon the throat of the creature misses the others completely. Sliding through with the momentum she slides, hops and uses an outstretched hand to right herself.

Instead of a gruesome hail mary that burns all of her energy as before, but to his surprise the threat takes a hold. The girl hits the warg and only the warg. With a smile with a show of promise, Raidou maintains his defenses as he spins back the black star. An outstretched left hand to his target, a peel of his steel along his gauntlet. "Finish it off, then kill the remaining beasts. Divide and conquer, demoralize, and destroy. The scales are in your favor, go wisely and slowly. Those who rush stumble and fall." Raidou shouts the cadence hoping to brand the sentiment into the girl. The beasts howl and bark, the warg limps before righting itself as it stands on the precipice of its own demise. Backed into a corner it calls for its pack to act the very same as Raidou does to his own. One army proceeds this day, but which will write history. They lunge at the swordsman all at once, but with quick turn and slide of his feet producing a cloud of dust, a total guard holds strong with all four dropping back to the ground to the flutter of his red robe. Slightly off kilter from the attempted lunge they find the floor.

Another total defense from Raidou leaves him completely untouched as he easily parries without faltering or even changing position, Setsuna was not sure the end goal but it was impressive none the less. As she followed the command she slides through in a blinding flash of her steel. A quick tear of light blue energy removes the leader's head as she breaks through the creature's ring, it falls limp and explodes to data. Flipping the blade back and quickly sheathing it, the stragglers remained but she did not lay a finger upon them until the leader fell. A leap causes the brush to shake as she vanishes into it, awaiting another order for this was going so smoothly who was she to argue with efficiency. Her energy was still half full, she looked on in a mental tally showing three remained, and she hoped it would be adequate enough to finish the job.

Raidou watches as a blue line destroys the intended target, reducing it to data in a blinding flash. He catches a glimpse of Setsuna before she disappears into the canopy. "Good, that precision is what I am looking for. Now take out the stragglers, the larger has fallen. This creature gains an area projection when the little ones fall before its destroyed. By killing it first, you remove yourself from the equation entirely. Sometimes all is not what it seems, yes you could have easily hit all of them but you would have brought about unnecessary risk to yourself. Let this be a lesson of things to come. I will devise the method, you will be an extension of my arm." Raidou says with a stalwart phrase, loud enough for the girl to hear against the silent backdrop. the wolves around him snarl to the sentence, howling in unison as almost a choir of the deceased as their alpha lays slain. One latches on to his arm as he rebukes the other two easily. The armor being softened allows the damage through, but it would not be enough to cause worry "Have at it, you'll find it to be useless." Raidou remarks to the creature as he shakes it free and slams the black star into it forcing it back.

A bite finally gets through Raidou's defenses, Setsuna quickly scans to his health bar. It barely touches it, still massively in the green. Just how strong was Raidou? A bit of hesitation as Raidou throws it off, the words he had spoken sinking in. "I see, the bigger one gets more dangerous if the others are killed first." Setsuna whispers into the treeline, understanding just a bit more of the why. A glimmer of iced blue with a slight peel of her katana from its scabbard, as she was told to let loose now that the threat had passed. "Gladly" as a slide into the fray with a rapid sprint and a quick torn Iai rips the creature's health into the red. It remains standing to her dismay, she wasn't expecting them to be quite so durable being adds. Raidou was right due to the fact, these were no boars like in second lessons.

A sudden fire lit upon the black star, his lessons imparted and a show of strength tempered into a fine point from Setsuna proved the quest was a success. This left only one thing, cleaning up the loose ends. A quick lunge to a downward slam, causes energy to toss the pack around, the one Setsuna struck is too staggered to escape and expires immediately while the others eat most of the damage and fall limp. Raidou recoils his blade as they struggle to stand, spinning it upright with a kick of his heel and a pivot, entering hopefully his final defensive stance. The first manages in before he is fully prepared, sinking teeth into his exposed thigh. A quick jab of blue color dislodged it before it could really clamp down, martial arts proving still useful. The last lunges and is swatted out of the air like a fly as it approaches, quickly knocking it to the floor.

Raidou seems unphased despite the damage, Setsuna simply watches the impact that throws the creatures around. She then catches a glimpse of his HP bar as it recovers to full entirely on its own. "What in the hell?" Setsuna clammers, unaware of how he just regenerated to full health. The gravity of the difference between them was staggering, he was clearly much higher on the power totem pole. Why was he bothering with them then? More questions then answers, she chooses to let her confusion come later. A glimmer paints her blade blue, as there was still some left standing after the attack from Raidou. A flash of steel in quick sweep tears down one side of one quickly causing its HP pool to plummet, the other the katana gets stuck as it collides with its throat. Setsuna tightens her grip and pushes through cleaving its head from its torso, scattering it to the wind. "I have some questions." Setsuna barks coldly, now that the junk had been cleared she would like some answers.

Raidou turns to the girl, who was glaring at him with a cold bite on her tongue. Turning and heading for Gatsby, now was not the time for answers as he had many more tests to divvy out. "In time, speak with Gatsby and finish your quest. You pass, welcome to O & I Setsuna." as he trails into the forest leaving her standing where the last was slain. In time he would explain, but for now it was important that the flow continued as planned and if he were to explain his motives every time it would take a decade. A meeting would be in order after the finalization of each grading, a deciding factor of who would stride down the path he had set and those that would not. Pulling his robe tighter to his neck and sheathing his sword, he swaps some of his gear around before transposing a message to Eruda:

Raidou vanishes with only a difference of her query, no answers spoken as they are dismissed as quickly as they were asked. "Fine, finish whatever you need to. I will be waiting." Setsuna remarks swiping the blade to her right, twirling it backward and sliding it into its saya. "But before this continues, I will want answers." as she jumps from the warzone into the canopy to a flutter of leaves. It does not take long before she makes it back to Urbus, darting from branch to branch before falling to the structured road in the moonlight. Approaching Gatsby who could not be happier at the creature's being destroyed, handing her a vial and some currency. A paltry sum that she pockets in silence before a warp gate takes her back to the guild hall. She would corner the guild master when he returned, as she transported to floor 22: The Cathedral of the forgotten.
