History & Personality
Ever since he was a child, Chase had never been too talkative with new faces. He'd rather remain silent and only say what had to be said, causing him to have a bit of a rocky friend group, if one at all throughout his childhood. Once he got accustomed to others though, he talked much more and made everything much less awkward, actively contributing to discussions and being much more outgoing than he normally is. One person that'd stuck with him ever since grade school, despite all of his flaws, was his best friend, Lily. They almost always were together, like brother and sister, never really doing much without one another. As such, something sparked inside both of them when they heard about Sword Art Online and the NerveGear. They kept all their pocket money for the full release, and waited together in line to buy one of each. When they were on their way back home, Lily's parents informed her of an urgency that came up and asked for her to come along, causing her to be unable to test run the game as intended. She handed the NerveGear and game to Chase, wanting him to give her his first impressions before she got her turn too. And like so, he went back home and launched the game.

The game seemed fascinating and everything about it was incredibly realistic. The boy let loose, exploring around the starting floor filled with excitement and making sure to leave no stone unturned. Filled with excitement though, he didn't pay much attention to the specifics and only let himself sink into the experience with how realistic it all seemed, almost like he himself was in the game. By the time he wanted to leave and tell Lily of everything he'd just seen through a message, he couldn't. The button wasn't there. Not too long after, he got teleported back to the town square in front of the Black Iron Palace, and Chase was informed of the terrible fate Kayaba had dealt any of players stuck alongside the bluehead.

Now trapped in a death game, it's been quite some time since its start and he still hadn't accomplished anything. He was sticking to the Town of Beginnings, managing his resources all too carefully in order to never run out. Up until his Col count started to diminish from buying food to survive, the idea of fighting monsters and risking his life out there never even came to mind. Now though, things were different. It sparked inside of him, that he too, had to take action, to return back to the real world. Of course, he knew that'd be even harder for him. He was silent, bad with words and even worse at expressing himself and being descriptive. Teamwork looked like a must in order to get out of this world, but he knew it'd be even more challenging for him. So two years after standing by idly, he decided to take a stand and begin experiencing the world of Aincrad for himself.
Virtues:

  • Reliable - Although he's mostly silent, Chase can show he reliable he is once he gets the hang of a task. He feels a sense of duty whenever assigned with any sort of a job, and refuses to back down until he's done his fill to help. As such, he comes off as someone willing to help and do all in his power to stick to his words. This creates a clash with his skill at expressing himself and how stubborn he can be from time to time, allowing the best side of him to show just as much as the worst does.
  • Self-Driven - Despite starting out with no motive but to clear the game, Chase finally found purpose in everything that he did. The reason to get out being Lily, what he strived for while he was still inside being Kayaba and the Unique Skills he left to the players as a way to cling on to hope. He wants to find out everything about unique skills and Kayaba, as well as his motives for leaving them there. Even if he acts selfless at times, he has his own goals that no matter his social interactions, he won't stop pursuing. As such, he needs no motivation whatsoever to get his gears going and will always look for a way out of a predicament himself, even if nobody is going to help him do so.
  • Thoughtful Even if it doesn't show quite that much, Chase is very thoughtful of everyone and everything around him. He'll take time to form his own opinions on others before acting in any way, taking a different approach to conversations and tasks. Because of this, he comes off as a strategical and calculated person. Although not always, if he feels he could benefit from a situation that he'd normally not put himself into, he might as well choose to give it a shot for the benefit of himself and anybody else involved.

Flaws:

  • Short-Tempered - Like a volcano ready to erupt, Chase can be very short-tempered. While he doesn't care about whatever's directed at him, whenever he sees one of the people he thinks of quite highly get insulted or threatened, he'll begin to grow angry. This doesn't bode too well alongside the rush of adrenaline that he gets from fighting, creating a horrible combination when both go off.
  • Adrenaline Monster - This one can be taken quite literally. Chase's self control is already bad enough when he gets agitated, and adrenaline just sends him into overdrive. It's not often that he finds himself losing full control to his rush, but it still happens enough to be noticed- a worrying amount too. It's best to not push him too much once he's in such a state, or the results can be less than unsatisfactory.
  • Stubborn - Oftentimes, Chase will listen to advice but decide to ignore it for his own reasons. It could be for his own benefit, or someone else's. He always listens to what others has to say, but he almost never gives others' opinions more value than he does his own judgement. This makes working with him harder, as some persistence is required to get through to him at times. Likewise, it's oftentimes crushing for him to find out he was in the wrong and he might refuse to admit it even when it might be the best choice. This could very well be the reason his relationship with someone worsens, too.
  • Lost Unlike the rest of his flaws, this one usually won't kick in. Most people will never even see this side of Chase- but he's lost. Although not as overwhelmed as initially when he was trapped in Aincrad, he experiences feelings and days when he just feels lonely, scared and clueless as to what to do. This might lead to him attaching himself more than would be reasonable to some, although it must be noted said 'some' will be few and far between, if any at all. He won't cling onto them for dear life and weigh them down, but he'll value their opinions and advice much more than anybody else's, letting them 'control' his actions to an extent.

Relationships
Legend: Great Good - Don't mind them Bad - Horrible Unique

NIGHT - "She also uses two handed swords. She was quiet at first, but she's kind of like me. She gave me a few clues to solving the mystery behind Calrex and if there's even a source to his strength in the first place. Apparently, according to her, information brokers are a thing too. I might want to look into that more. I'll turn to her if I ever need anything with my weapons probably. After my little expedition on the 9th with 'her', I believe I know much more about her. We've quested lots and I've come to the conclusion she's someone I can trust with my all. I owe her a lot."

Mari - "A two handed spear user. She gives off a very motherly aura and always helps me feel at ease. I've hurt her, but I don't want to stop hanging out with her. It feels like being around her will do me good. I don't even know her that much, but... I can't explain it. I hope we get more time together.

Shay - "She's a good person. She sucks at speaking as much as I do, and she's helped me. I want to clear the game with her. There's a problem though. She isn't doing anything. I'm not putting her below me, but... she hasn't worked any since I got us a house. She moved out to 'learn herself better and become stronger'. I believe in her, just... Come back safe, Shay. Don't be stupid or stubborn this time, please."

Ariel "A big sister type of person. She has helped me get my profession, and do a bit more. She wanted me to join something like a school, but... I'll just stick to receiving her help until I get stronger than her. She's in the frontlines, and very powerful, so it'll be a while."

Kiluia Seiko "Haine's soulmate, by the looks of it. I'm not sure what they were doing looking for trinkets in the bottom floors I was questing, but... They seemed to be strong enough. Kiluia sounded reliable and dependable, but I never really got to see him in action. He'd be good company if I was any more social."

Haine "Kiluia's soulmate, by the looks of it. I'm not sure what they were doing looking for trinkets in the bottom floors I was questing, but... They seemed to be strong enough. I never got to see her in action at first, but she appeared to be the strongest, if what Kiluia said about their levels was true. She was ready to help even once I'd turned her offer down. We talked again more recently and killed a snake or something around those lines. It was a complete pain in the ass but she put in a huge amount of effort. Hard worker."

Grimm Reaper "A newbie that came by my shop for a few trinkets. He seems rather peppy and he's not bad company at all. Just still new to the game. He wants to be a tank and seems to have the same reason for getting started as I did- he feels guilty. That's about all we have in common. I'll help him out to repay the favor to Ariel, Shay and everybody else that helped me."

Raidou "Another member of that god forsaken guild. I feel like I was too aggressive to him at first on the basis he'd be like the rest, but he somehow wasn't. I don't want to say I trust him, but he felt different than the rest. He's not as thickheaded or stubborn as the rest of Firm Anima, so... He's okay. For now. I still don't know anything about him. He seemed to play similarly to me, however."

Vie "My first customer. It's not like I hold any negativity towards her or anything. It's good, she finally gave me some business so now I feel like being an artisan at least holds some merit in and of itself, it's just er... She doesn't seem to go along too well with me. Neither she nor Katoka. My familiar, Blizz especially, I'm certain she doesn't like all that much. She's a good girl, just... I feel like I've messed up more than usual with her."

Yuki "She's the cook from the first floor. Yeah, she helps me out and I buy from her shop, but that's cause I can't find anybody else. I don't like how she's treated me and Shay, but she took me to a rather hard quest and did the tanking. That means little between two tanks, but... she also gave me a weapon. If she wanted to buy my forgiveness, she managed to just because she helped Shay out. Hmph."

Freyd "A swordsman that uses two-handed blades, just like I. That's where the similarities stop with this sick bastard. I could go on and on, but... it's... complicated."

Elora "A spear user, I believe... I didn't pay much attention. She's a greenhead, looks like an elf, and blamed me for giving them leeway to train their abilities. I'm not sure she's the sort of person I want to be around. This happened alongside Katoka threatening me, so it was... probably me not fitting in. I'm better off away from those two. Freyd has gotten to her, as well... I have no clue how she's so naive."

Katoka "A blonde samurai that was along with Vie after she shopped from me. We went out on a small trip to some courtyard over in the first, but we didn't get a lot of materials. And then I found her around the third a few days later, but I managed to get her to threaten me. She doesn't like me. I shouldn't hang out with her alone. She thinks very highly of Freyd. According to her, he's a 'gentleman'. Tch. He must have lied tons to her. I can't help her out of it though."

Calrex "He probably doesn't even know who I am. I don't know if it's a player or an NPC, that's what I'm looking into. There's been few sightings of him outside of events, so those are my best shot. The best tank in the game, according to my sources. I want to find every Unique Skill holder, and learn more about Unique Skills. More than anything, get stronger than him. If I do, that means I'll be one of the strongest players, so I'll be able to clear the game."

Inventory
Weapons:
<<Plain Broadsword>>
Vanity | Straight Sword
An iron broadsword with a guard just above its hilt. It's as basic as a broadsword gets.

<<Cloud Cutter>>
T1 Perfect | Straight Sword | DMG III
The sword's hilt is dark blue, paired with a teal guard to accompany the silver sword which reflects any light shining on it right back. The blade's thin and long, able to create clean cuts with enough force and balance behind each strike. Despite its unmenacing look however, it's been properly sharpened and made out of heavy metals, causing it to be much heavier than looks might hint it being.

<<Sky Slasher>>
T1 Perfect | Straight Sword | DMG II, PAR I
A broadsword with a thick deep blue guard just above the brown, leather covered hilt. The blade is wide, and its end is as sharp as a guillotine. Its silver length has been decorated with two black stripes just a few inches under its end. Any light that falls on it is reflected much more intensely, with a light blue hue to it for some reason.

<<Claymore of the Sands>>
T1 Perfect | Straight Sword | DMG II, BLD I

<<Blade of the Warrior>>
T3 Perfect | Straight Sword | ABS ACC, ACC II

<<Gust Raiser>>
T2 Perfect | Straight Sword | DMG II, ACC I
A black, heavy broadsword with a flat, sharp blade of pure cobalt. Its thick appearance and heavy feel makes the wielder feel much stronger, reflecting light harshly off of its surface. Towards its end, it has a small hole with three golden rings going through it and coming off at its back, decorating it to only add to the style of this weapon. The hilt is made out of hard leather colored to be a dark blue, while the guard seems to match the rings in color. The branded celtic knot of Tristram steel on its hilt.

<<Star Splitter>>
Tierless Perfect | Straight Sword | ACC II, PAR I
A broadsword with a fairly long hilt and a blade wider than its guard. The guard resembles a greataxe in shape, while the blade itself is more like a longer and wider spear tip. Because of all the curves on the sword's surface, it's quite easy to block other strikes and prevent the opponent's blades from sliding down to the hilt, while at the same time causing much deeper wounds due to the edges of the design. The blade itself is jet black, with a second, thin layer over both the bottom and the top colored fully white. Due to the length and width of the sword, hits become hard to miss, and any strike allows for the wielder to quickly follow up with another blow.

<<Blizz' Embrace>>
T2 Perfect | Straight Sword | FRZ I, ACC I, BLD I
A jagged broadsword with spikes out of ice sticking by the side. It appears to be made of ice whole, but it's hard enough to not shatter from the toughest of blows. Sometimes, its sword arts can produce ice and freeze enemies in place. The spikes are capable of dealing some bonus, shallow wounds to leave enemies crippled after every strike, while blocking attacks all the same.

<<Sword of the Ancients>>
T2 Demonic | Straight Sword | DMG II, PARA I, PHASE
A raw stone weapon that appears to be worn away by weather; vines and moss ornate the handle as its edge appears to be dull.

<<Red Hot Weapon>>
T3 Perfect | Straight Sword | BRN II, BLD I

<<Comet Strike>>
T3 Perfect | Straight Sword | Taunt, V.OFF I, ACC
A 2' long dark blue blade with a fair width and rounded of edges. While it's not as sharp as others, sometimes, a white mist surrounds its edges. Coming in contact with it is said to leave the target in a daze. Some leather straps are tightly wrapped around the part just above its guard.

<<Venom Slicer>>
T3 Perfect | Straight Sword | ACC II, BLT I
A green, slightly curved blade. It's perfectly polished and slick in its design, however it emits a foul, dark mist accompanied by a no less bothersome stench. It's definitely a good idea to stay away from the sharp bits.

<<Chase's Star>>
T4 Demonic | Straight Sword | HOLY II, V.OFF I, PHASE
A stone blade wide in size and long. Despite it seeming somewhat dull, its edges are trimmed just enough to make it as sharp as it needs to be. Small lines of steel can be seen running on the flat of the blade up and down, as if bouncing between its edges all the way to the top, where a golden diamond lies with a dragon sigil etched right at the center. Its guard is wide and its blade clean, giving off a royal feeling. On the hilt a pommel is in place as a counterbalance, cast in steel and a round sphere embossed with the celtic knot of Tristram Steel.

Armors:
<<Hard Leather Armor>>
Vanity | Light Armor
Armor made out of hardened leather, mitigating low amounts of damage from basic hits decently for the starter players.

<<Sky Blue Apparel>>
T1 Perfect | Light Armor | EVA I, REC II
This armor set consists of a dark blue jacket with white lines down the outer middle of both sleeves that stretch all the way to the sleeves. In a similar fashion, a white line surrounds the zipper in the middle of the jacket, while the neck of it is slightly thicker to provide better warmth. This cozy clothing is paired with black shorts that go all the way to just above the knee, the inner coated with thin light blue fabric to match the jacket. Overall, the outfit emits a rather cozy and homey feeling, being both light for the wearer and comfortable enough to help them recover much faster in combat.

<<Wind Dweller>>
T2 Perfect | Light Armor | EVA I, REC II
This armor set consists of a dark blue jacket with white lines down the outer middle of both sleeves that stretch all the way to the sleeves. In a similar fashion, a white line surrounds the zipper in the middle of the jacket, while the neck of it is slightly thicker to provide better warmth. Going along with the jacket are black shorts that go all the way to the knee, coated with light blue fabric from the inside to match the blue colors of the jacket. There's some thin padding in the armor that lets the wearer be much more comfortable than it might seem, allowing them to quickly move about the battlefield and recover from attacks without much trouble. Some of the aforementioned padding shows in the bulkier shoulders and elbows.

<<Hurricane Denizen>>
T2 Perfect | Light Armor | MIT II (36), REC I
A very light blue hoodie alongside a pair of jet black cargo pants. The fabric seems to be thick and under it are small plates, providing some extra protection. However, they're rather flexible for the wearer and padded from the inside to allow for faster recovery from blows and attacks, making for less effective cover. These plates have been spread all over the attire, including behind the various pockets of the cargo pants.

<<Nemean Fur>>
T2 Uncommon | Light Armor | Bloodclot
A cape made out of the Nemean lion's hide, said to be impervious to the elements and all but the most powerful weapons.

<<Dragon's Skin>>
T3 Perfect | Heavy Armor | MIT II (54), Thorns I (27)

<<Storm Brewer>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | MIT II (54), EVA I
A leather vest worn around one's torso to protect from light blows. Additional, light blue plates have been added over it to protect the chestplate alongside shoulderguards, softening any blow to befall the wearer. A pair of leggings with scales protecting the hips have been paired alongside this armor, providing decent protection while not removing much of the user's agility. Tufts of fur can be seen at the end of the shoulderguard's plates, as well as the neck of the vest.

<<Snow Cloak>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | HBS I, MIT II | 163016b
A very thin cloak, white on the inside and light blue on the outside. It has a hood to go along with it, fully covering the user's body and keeping them slightly warm. Best used by treasure hunters due to how much movement it allows, while emitting a cool breeze to scare monsters away.

<<Tattered Blue Robes>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | HBS I, EVA I, LM I | 168480a
Blue robes that have been torn apart in various spots.  They seem ragged and old, like a relic from ancient time, and emit a freezing chill.  Perhaps they can be patched up and turned into something more valuable.

<<Ice Plated Armor>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | MIT I (27), REG (15), ANTI-FREEZE
Leather armor reinforced by ice plating.  The armor is broken, making it lighter than one might expect.  The ice on it is also purple in colour, and never seems to melt.

<<Gold-Plated Vest>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | PARALYTIC IMMUNITY, LM II
A peculiar vestment that seems to render the wearer completely immune to paralysis.  Black in appearance, with various bits of gold trim, it is also surprising light, granting its wearer an additional spring in their step.

<<Haephastian Cowl>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | EVA I, ANTI-FREEZE, ENVNM DEF I |  173620c
Woven to serve as protection against the heat of the Forge for Blacksmiths, this cloak was worn by a warrior who braved Olympus to learn the secrets of his Master's flames.

<<Suit of Flames>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | HBS I, EVA I, LM I | 173732a
A very tight bodysuit that shifts its appearance at random. What's always constant are the faint yet warm flames that are emitted from it, protecting their user from harm and warding enemies off while lighting the path ahead.

<<Thunderstruck Badge>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | PARALYTIC IMMUNITY, EVA I, MIT I | 174369d
A blade-like sigil attached to a small shirt collar. When worn, it will ward off any form of paralysis effect by emitting a shield of lightning.

<<Scout's Honor>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | MIT I, REC I, HBS I
A lightweight cuirass with a dragon emblem to its collar. The emblem glows every so often, imbuing its user with regenerative abilities.

<<Sanguine Sleeve>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | V. DEF I, EVA I, MIT I | 174393a
A single sleeve to be slipped on one's loadout. However useless it might seem, it enhances the user's potential and allows them to even draw energy from around themselves to heal, albeit it's a rare occurrence.

<<Cerberus' Blessing>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | FIREPROOF, EVA II | 174395d
Black and red armor said to be made from Cerberus' pelt. It will instantly disperse any flames that try to harm the wearer. It's light and easy to wear, making it ideal for swift attackers.

<<Moving Tundra>>
T3 Perfect | Light Armor | HBS I, EVA II | 174408d
A cape paired with a cowl that's shaped like a dragon with horns. Its colors are white, with hints of faint light blue, resembling the colors of ice. A comforting frost is emitted from the cowl, and it appears to reflect light in full.

<<Torn Red Robes>>
T4 Perfect | Cloth Armor | HBS I, LD I, ENVNM DEF I | 168523d
These red robes appear somewhat old.  They’re in fairly good condition, but a few rips can be notices here and there upon the cloth.  An immense heat can be felt every so often from a golden sigil that is pinned about the collar.

<<Azure Getup>>
T4 Perfect | Cloth Armor | Vampiric (Defensive), MIT I, HBS I | 165535b
A deep blue jacket with white lines around the shoulders, and its sleeves rolled up. Comes right along with matching black shorts that have white stripes going down them, rolled up the same way the jacket is to match the top. There's a silver emblem around the jacket's collar, closely resembling a dragon. It's properly polished and there's an orange gem where a socket for the eyes should have been.

<<Night Sky Blues>>
Vanity | Cloth Armor
These blue pyjamas have been made to cater to Chase's character colors. There's a dark blue sweater with two white lines going down its sleeves and some black sweatpants with a white cord to loosen or tighten them around one's waist alongside the elastic. The set is overall simple, as pyjamas should be, and gives off a homey and cozy vibe to it, having no place anywhere near a battlefield.

Trinkets:
<<Warm Earmuffs>>
T1 Perfect | Trinket | ACC III
A pair of cyan earmuffs with a metal skeleton. They're warm enough to relax anyone wearing them, allowing them to focus more easily on any task at hand. They can be bothersome during hot days or travels through higher temperatures though.

<<Chained Bracelet>>
T2 Demonic | Trinket | EVA II, ACC II
A black bracelet with chains hanging from it. It's best for the wearer to wrap them around their one arm, allowing them to not get tangled up with the trinket's item. Its said to allow the user to regain their composure more easily, getting into a combative state more easily with the chains symbolizing the shackles forcing them to live in this world as a swordsman. A small pangolin print can be seen on the thick bracelet, colored in a dark blue, causing it to need more attention to detail in order to be noticed.

<<Dope Shades>>
T3 Demonic | Trinket | Keen II, PROS II
A pair of black shades dropped by a bunny in a jacket.

<<Silver Earring>>
T1 Perfect | Trinket | LD III
An accessory to be worn when in need of good luck. This silver earring is said to bring luck to those that need it, although whether that's a rumor or not is up for debate. It has two gold lines near its middle, diagonally in comparison to the rest of it.

<<Hopeful Tears>>
T1 Rare | Trinket | LD II
A silver necklace that bears the shape of a tear. Inside of the tear's frame, there's a gem shining sky blue. The gem's cut in a way that it looks like many tears on top of one another. It can reflect light to look as if emitting a low glow, giving the illusion it emits light in and of itself. Any player wearing it can feel the care that's been put into it, as well as a slight feeling of determination, helping them push forward. Mentally, at least.

<<Hoya of Minos>>
Vanity | Jewel
A necklace retrieved from the tomb inside the third floor's forest, guarded by a minotaur. It once belonged to the King of Minos that's been buried there, waiting for anybody up to the task to pick it up. It's a simple necklace with an emerald rock into it, shining faintly while it hangs from the golden chain of the jewel.
