Reiji lived a normal life of a child living in Glasgow, Scotland. That was until the age of 8 when his family decided to up and leave for their homeland, Japan. Specifically a town called Furano, in the Hokkaido prefecture in Japan. It was far different from the Glasgow. Furano was beautiful and far from what a city looks like. Lavender blanketed the fields for kilometres and during winter, fluffy layers of snow covered the very same lavender fields. Compared to Glasgow, Furano was very different and beautiful in it's own way. Although it was never the same as Reiji's city is which he was born in.

Some years past, and Reiji learned to live in Japan. Learning it's culture and language. Although looking everyone else, he still had to learn how to live like everyone else. Everything was going fine and dandy until mid senior high when he started to become very clumsy. He was never one to be such of a klutz, but he just suddenly had a hard time using his hands at times. Wanted to keep his parents from worrying, he kept it to himself. That was until a certain incident at the age of 18 where he fell down the stairs at school. He had lost all feeling of his legs mid step and fell down the stairs crashing into the wall and blacking out. As he woke up, he sees his mother crying at his side. At the door, his father, dressed for work as he was an MD at a local hospital, talking to another MD. His consciousness coming in and out he eventually fully awakes in an empty room. Flowers at his beside, the darkness of night covered his window. The door slowly opens as a familiar face walks in. "Hey son..." His voice was stern, yet there was an underlying sadness about it. On that night, at the ripe age of 18, Reiji learned he has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS for short and that he is one of the youngest people to have ever gotten it.

Years go by as Reiji learned to live with the disease, although it was progressed fairly quickly. He is already wheelchair bound and has lost a good amount of control of his arms. He can't quiet grip things normally but he has figured out a way to push himself around as if by sheer effort alone. Thinking that maybe the technology could help Reiji live a somewhat decent life, his father bought him a NerveGear and the game Sword Art Online. He had hear of some studies and how VR has given those with physical disabilities a chance at moving around, albeit in a virtual world, but it still gives them freedom of mobility. On launch, with the help of father, Reiji managed to get himself in SAO. Link Start...

Growing up, Reiji lived a normal life of a kid. He curious about the things around him, he played with local kids. He was energetic and loved to run around. But Reiji truly began to be an individual until the day he was diagnosed with ALS. On that day, his the walls of his somewhat sheltered life began to crumble and fall around him. It broke him at first, but that very same day he also found a new drive to leave something behind. Something that can be remembered throughout history. He didn't care if his name was remembered, but he wanted his deed to be remembered. Reiji is full of hope and drive to get things done. He has to times to sit around idly as time moved past him. He knew he didn't have much time and he still wanted to leave a lasting impression on the world. A world of which he did not know much of, but that didn't stop his curiosity.

Curious
Being limited by his disease, Reiji has an insatiable thirst of what is unknown to him. He never reached adolescence like a normal person since as he was reaching adulthood, that was when is disease also became known limiting him from experiencing life's pleasures. From alcohol to dating, Rein never lived a normal adolescent life.

Driven
For a good chunk of his life, Reiji was told he can't do it because of this or that. But that never stopped Reiji. When he was told at 18 that he has ALS and that he's slowly going to lose control of his whole body, that did stop him from trying. Even as he lost the ability to walk, he pushed on through with his hands. Never giving up nor backing down to the challenges he has to face.

Hopeful
Although cursed with a slowly crippling and dying, never once has Reiji been not grateful for his life. Of course he felt down about his situation, but he always bounced back up and stronger than ever. Even when at times his family was losing it, he was the bright light that kept everyone together. He was their beacon of hope during their darkness.

Immature
Not immature as in acting childish, but immature in the was of the opposite sex. Reiji never really talked to girls nor did he interact with them. He was always with the boys and never really talked about girls. He just doesn't know how to act around them. He loses his confidence and drive. He just becomes another person.

Klutz
Due to his disease, Reiji has a hard time controlling his limbs. He already had lost most of his control IRL but SAO is giving him a new chance at that. It was hard to walk and use his hands at first, but he's slowly getting the hang of it. With time, he should have full control, but as for now, he comes off a bit of a Klutz when doing this.

Stubborn
Although driven, at times, Reiji can be stubbornly driven. Even facing great adversities, he stubbornness breaks past reason as he tries to forge on ahead to his goal, even if it were to affect him negatively in the long run. He never sees the bigger picture, only what is in front of him. He has lost friends, loved ones, and has even hurt himself due to his stubbornness.
