Vie 0 Posted June 30, 2020 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) AGATE VIE Jami Vallieres. Female, Japanese. 17, now 19. 160 cm. HISTORY Spoiler Her earliest memories were at the orphanage. Flawed floorboards, cobwebs in corners, and roughhousing rascals, she spent her days where what seemed like the middle of nowhere. They were long, but she trudged through them as she felt that it would be a shame not to, having been gifted this life. Though it took a few years, she later got adopted by a friendly infertile Canadian couple. The two loved her as if she were their own, bestowing her with the name Jami as the adoption center lacked records of her previous name, address, and pretty much anything that might’ve linked her to her biological parents. Though she wishes she could pay them a visit, something inside her feels it’s best that she was cut off- like she’s better off this way, feeling… unconditionally loved and supported by those around her. Her environment drastically changed suddenly, moving to Canada made it difficult to adapt, but the primary issue had been the language barrier. Thankfully, she still soaked up information like a sponge as she was a young four year old. Canada was spacious, an ethereal wooded backyard filled with creatures in the wilderness that would prowl or meander about. She spent most of her time in the woodland, getting excited about every single new thing. Small animals she’d never seen, massive trees that seemed impossible to climb, and vegetation about. It was a bit overwhelming. When she got enrolled in school, life seemed hellish. The population hadn’t been *too* dense, but it still felt like a lot of students. She took tiny steps to get out of her social shell, but they never seemed to pay off. In classes she’d make “friends,” who weren't actual friends, but people who would befriend her to get through the semester without complications. People ignoring her outside of school led her to crawl back into her rather cramped shell. Which would keep her from developing any form of social skills outside of her home. An outcast to cliques, she began to look to chat rooms for interaction as humans deep down are social creatures. Her favorites involved flash games as making allies seemed simpler to her, she just had to share a common goal or interest. Thus gaming became an outlet to forget about her lonely reality. When Jami reached the age of 17, she learnt of a brand new game called Sword Art Online which seemed fascinating. Virtual reality seemed like such a fantastical concept, the realism seemed stunning. All her online friends were playing it- why shouldn't she? After begging her parents to get it for her, finally- she had gotten her grimey little hands on a copy of SAO… PERSONALITY Spoiler VIRTUES Appreciative - She wholeheartedly appreciates those who she relies on, as for some reason they continue to help selflessly which seems almost angelic to her (despite being an atheist). Honestly Jami just feels like she’s lived a privileged life, one though not full of offline friends- filled with supportive individuals and online friends that genuinely care. She’s genuinely thankful of those nearest to her for sticking by her side through thick and thin. As she is extremely appreciative of her close friends, Jami stays loyal to them despite what bad things they may do. She typically continues to be friends with them regardless of what they might do (as long as it’s not illegal). Afterall, they did the same thing- why should something small stay in the way of friendship? Cheerful - Jami acknowledges that life is difficult at times, and she doesn’t think people should have to go through hard times alone. She yearns to listen to those in need of support, and hopes to be a ray of sunshine in everyone’s life. She just wants to make people smile once in a while. She wholeheartedly believes that being cheery leads to others being affected by her, and that they'll be just as happy in the long run- at least that's definitely what she hopes. Curious - Her curiosity often gets the best of her, though it leads to interesting conversation topics and learning about things she was previously ignorant about. Perhaps at times it can be obnoxious- being asked 127 questions in a sitting- but it informs her greatly. She often attempts to put what she learns to good use in a way that would benefit herself and perhaps others. Above all, she sees knowledge as much more worthwhile than most things- though she definitely values relationships as a strong second. FLAWS Blunt - Jami believes that she should get the truth about what she really thinks out before she regrets having not said what she needs to. This often leads to her being extremely genuine about 'the elephant in the room,' even if no one really wants to address the issue. Though some may consider it to be a positive attribute, Vie is often far too straightforward with people which creates some tension and difficult situations at times. Gullible/Reckless - Jami's very trusting of those close to her. Due to this it causes her to be sort of oblivious to sarcasm and take jokes quite literally. Despite her age, if you were to tell her there’s a unicorn in her house somewhere she might believe you. She’ll likely be upset when she finds out you lied though... Although she may seem utterly hopeless with her lack of knowledge about the world, she genuinely wants to learn more about it. To experience more and make fun memories along the way. Reflective - She often thinks back to previous situations and regrets what she says or does, causing her to think about what she could’ve done differently. Though this may be positive to some, it creates a sort of toxic environment for her internally. Remembering so many cringy things she’s done in the past, so many things she’s screwed up in so many ways… it leads to self-hatred and depreciation. She often holds conversations with herself internally, believing that she should keep her negativity to herself and not trouble others.
