Haine 0 Posted July 8, 2020 Author #21 Share Posted July 8, 2020 (edited) She was about to respond until a sound of something trotting on the ice alerted her attention. She whipped around and peeked from the side of the tree. The little cub decided it was safe to return, with the coast all clear. It crept up to the water hole, sticking its head into the water for a quick sip. "Oh my goodness," Haine squealed with her mouth closed, all too excited at the prospect of capturing it as her own. She couldn't get too hasty, now. It would be a shame to drive it off when it just showed up. She flipped through her inventory and removed the quest item, a fish suitable for luring in the little one. She slipped out from behind the tree's cover and tip toed closer to the cub. It squeaked and begun to back away. Its lip curled up with a snarl, the fur on its back rising. The thing was quivering in fear, all alone with these two strangers. When it sensed the smell of fish, however, it inched closer. "That's right, lil' bud! We don't mean no harm." She presented the fish to it with outstretched arms. The creature sniffed it twice, and then backed away with its ears pointing. She laid the fish on the floor and backed away, to see if that would ease its nerves. Kiluia Seiko 0 Posted July 8, 2020 #22 Share Posted July 8, 2020 He looked over at his beloved. When her features lit up, he was at the highlight of his day. Good thing the cub came. He thought as he looked at the cub. This was her moment to shine. He would however stand guard looking around the area in case there was some sort of danger that could occur. "Good job." He said to her. It was praise for her patience and willingness to take risks to stay. She could of moved on but she did not do such a thing. The polar bear was indeed cute. A grin spread to his face as he wondered if the two would get a long meaning Pingu and the cub. With the cub being so small, they could get a long well enough at a young age to properly train them. This would take time, he thought, as he calculated the amount of time that would be needed to endure the training. He tapped his chin slightly and waited patiently for the cub to start looking for the food in Haine's hand.
Haine 0 Posted July 8, 2020 Author #23 Share Posted July 8, 2020 (edited) Sure enough, the curious cub inched closer. Without the threat of the two close by, it approached the fish. It rolled the fish over with its snout and declared it edible after a good few sniffs. It bit the fish tentatively, nibbling for a moment. Unceremoniously, it scarfed the whole thing down. It moved closer to the duo and raised its snout to the sky, a strange guttural sound escaping it. It trotted up to Haine, and with its small paw, patted at her leg. It wanted another fish. "Aww, sure, sugar!" She let out the squeal she was holding and knelt down, presenting the other fish to the polar bear. As it ate from her hands, she rested a hand over its head tentatively. Once it did not recoil, she stroked its matted fur. "I know just the name for you." A pop-up prompted her to input information. The cub was identified as a male. She had pondered over names the night before and knew just the one. With a few swipes and a couple taps, she input the information. "Alright then, Miska!" The polar bear tilted his head, its beady eyes staring straight at her. "Ah, I almost forgot." She turned to Kiluia and unhooked the chain around her neck and stood up. She handed it to him. "Thanks for letting me borrow it, love." Haine turned her attention back to the cub, who was waiting there patiently. She giggled and tapped its snout, watching it sneeze. "Come on, let's take you home. Your pal is waiting for ya'." She outstretched her arms for the cub to come closer. It trotted up to her and she scooped it up. She scrunched her nose as its wet, matted fur stuck to her garb. "But first, I think you'll need a quick rinse."
