[F2 - R5 Appraiser] Freyd Aspirations [Open]

Recommended Posts

A ring back into the building, a rather haggard looking female as before. That thick accent wench that she had to deal with prior, Celeste reluctantly ushers to the counter. "I am looking for some oomf, you got that?" Quip simply shakes her head for a moment, apparently Celeste didn't get that the woman could understand her completely fine. A pause as she ushers away removing a crate of crap from the back, something she recognized fluid wise. But they were in little like cubes. "How the hell did you get your hands on these, I've been looking fucking everywhere."

Quip looks to her in earnest with a glare. "Freyd has his ways, yah wannum or naught? I don' got all day fer yer sass." Celeste understood about half "I'll take them." Quip begins to peel out a couple. "No them, all of them." Celeste removes a bag of coin from excessive bloodshed, a tiny tear revealing some of the silver col beneath its cover. A dump of it on the counter she takes the whole damn crate. "Get more, I'll be back."

OOC Fuckin Yoink

Celeste Purchases:
Liquor of Light (Potion) | DMG 3
A signature concoction of the Cintamani. The vial seems to glow a warm yellow, filled to the brim with translucent liquid sunshine. It tastes sweet when downed, reminiscent of maple syrup, though its flavour is diluted. Flows as easily as water.

She was wearing an acrid grin the moment she entered the store.

Boxes upon boxes. She'd lose a portion of her earnings, the commission fee for junk-selling, but this retailer's was no different than the standard fare around the castle. What mattered more behind her patronage was the message behind it, a greeting. In the same way he'd paid her wares a visit (and then promptly stole them away from the commonfolk of Aincrad).

Splendid. Had the merchant himself not been in the store, her beam was sent to the nearest assistant available, arms folded under her chest. Her fingers tightened in a prepared fist once the last of her materials were virtualized into reality. Through gritted teeth, a dragon's maw, she funneled them her instructions.

"Junk-sale. Please."

Currency exchange had never really been a big priority, but that's what materials really were to a merchant.  They couldn't use them in the same manner that other, crafting-focused professions could.  Freyd simply watched them pile up in his accounts as a results of loot drops and occasional spent them as a means to get rid of them and buy what he required.  He'd never given it much thought.  But his recent experiences with Bistro had compelled him to re-evaluate.  As a valid and alternate form of currency, materials tended to hold greater purchasing value than straight col.  It wouldn't matter for small purchases, but the Whisper always thought big, and long term.

Freyd buys 800*T1 mats (@300 col) from his own shop for 240,000 col

Val could feel his vision blur as his energy was low. Cleaning was not a strong suit he possessed. In the real world it was what the maids were for. The inventory logs in his shop were in disarray; it was why he had a bit of junk piling up without his notice. He remembered the fact that his Captain ran a merchant shop. It was the only reason Val swung by on such a day. Getting rid of the backflow was necessary.

Taking a look around Valentine managed to catch an eyeful. The shop was well managed and felt more open than he thought it would. To be honest Valentine was expecting more of a back alley in some dark corner to be Freyd’s shop. He expected the shop to have the same air as the Captain.

“Hello. Here to deposit some stuff for scraping.” His eyes caught sight of a crystal like necklace. It was pretty and had a nice feel to it. His instincts and high class blood was screaming at him to get it. "I am trying to save some Col. Can I trade these things to have a discount on this? I will pay the remaining in Col.” Valentine took out the items and initiated the trade option on his HUD.

"Oi!"  The bark came from there rear of the shop, and about twelve inches shorter than Valentine.  Its face a freckly and cast beneath straw-like blond hair bound in braids so tight that it risked squeezing the brain inside to excess.  "Wust dis all'bout then, eh?"   The frumpy, freckled woman was stout, given her diminutive size, with broad shoulders and rough, calloused hands.  She quickly picked up the proffered items and gave them a spin to check for wear and defects, practically scowling the entire time.

"DINGO!"

Her sudden and startling call produce a yelp and crash as Freyd's self-appointed apprentice fell off his improvised hammock at the back of the shop.

"Whaa?!  What'd I do this time?!"

"Coom check deeze for meh, yea?"  She smiled broadly, leaning her bosom against the counter and making inappropriate eyes at Valentine while a scrawny boy several years to the younger, and likely a sibling by appearance, came shuffling forward.  He rubbed sleep out of his eyes and offered a dozy nod as he glanced at the wares.

"Yeah, Quip, you're good.  Ummm... 4700 for those.  We can skip our cut.  This guy's Firm Anima.  I've seen his picture before."  Without waiting or formality, he shambled back towards his bed.

"So, de're ye have it, lad.  We'll call it 40k, even, cuz I don' see nearly eenoof han'som faces 'round 'ere."  She gave him a wink, even as Dingo could be seen shaking his disparaged head in the background.

[Items accepted for trade, plus reduced cost of 40,000 col for the necklace]

Valentine felt an assault on his eyes. He was experienced with people flirting with him for various reasons. This was the first time in the game he was getting hit on by an old lady NPC. He could feel his lip twitch as he fought back a wave of disgust.

“Thank you ever so much.” As is customary he kept a business smile. Pissing off the NPC’s was never a good idea. His acting was so decent he did not show any disdain. “For a sweet lady like you. I don't mind coming back again. Who doesn’t like to see a pretty face.” Valentine placed the money and picked up the new piece of gear. “As far as I know this is a pretty great deal. Thank you!”

Valentine had to head out for some business on his floor. He was not too worried about keeping the gear with him. It was useless to him at the moment as it was locked. It would take him some serious training to be able to equip it.

Oscar, fresh from his trip into the Black Iron Dungeon, made his way to Freyd's shop straightaway. Apparently, Merchants had been adjusted and were given the ability to reidentify enhancements on a limited basis. Oscar was all about that. So, with the mind to make Money Shot better and to see what he got from his haul, Oscar burst into the shop like a bat out of Hell.

"Dude. That shit was easy as fuck. I've taken more damage from wild spiders on Floor 21 than I did in my solo run of that death dungeon. Easiest. Loot. Of. My. Life."

Oscar plopped Money Shot down on the table alongside a half dozen unidentified weapons.

"Think you can help me out with these? I'd like to get a slot of Fallen on Money Shot, but I would settle for Paralysis. The rest of these dealies I'd like to ID into Claws. I've got ideas."

Freyd grinned at the grand entrance of his exuberant friend, taking his orders and bumping them to the front of a currently non-existent line.  Returning short while later, his expression suggested mixed results.

"I was able to get paralysis to hold on Money Shot, though not the true prize you were hoping for.  Sorry that it took so long, I kept stunning myself on the damned thing."  Placing the balance of the items on the table, each registered as claws, though none seemed to meet Oscar's expectations or high standards.  A sweep of Freyd's hand was all it took to discorporate them into cash, save one.  "I'll throw this one into the shop later, if you don't mind, but the junking value is yours.  It might still prove useful to others, down the road.  Speaking of which, I still owe you for your generosity.  I set me on the course that led me here, and you have my gratitude.  Beyond that, I can't stand owing debts, so here's your original investment back, with interest."

"Howfur oan earth is a'body expected tae survive surroondit by endless hordes o' shambling bodies, while squatting in th' squalor that is this man's shop?!"

Quip was on another cleaning tirade.  Freyd was off skulking about some dungeon or other, as usual, and Dingo was likely taking his third nap of the day.

"A've hud it wi' this jobby.  Dingo!  a'm aff hoorin'.  Dinnae gie th' entire inventory awa'.  Speaking o' whilk, a'm taking this, that, 'n' whitevur th' hell this is suppose tae be.  Freyd owes us some back pay." Grabbing a few loose items from amidst the seemingly piles of not-yet-junked junked, she salvaged a few pieces that might be of use, then barged out the front gates of the monastery like a woman on a mission.

Quip takes:

Flashy Distraction | T1 Rare Shield | TAUNT, THORNS 1
Acquisition ID: #152424 | Identification ID: #152428 & 152429
An ornate silvered buckler conveniently sized to also amuse its owner as a throwing disc during moments of relaxation.

Wayfinder | Tier 1 Perfect Trinket | LOOT DIE III
Crafting roll | #150876
A star-shaped charm made up of various translucent teal-coloured petals, framed with silver and held together with taut strings. At its center is a stylized metal heart, and at one of the petals' ends is a loop tied with a knot, so that the charm is capable of being hung or locked around another object. The item calls back to a foreign myth, representing an unbreakable connection between holders of these charms. (CRAFTED:

Why can't I hold all these swords? Black Iron Dungeon had, indeed, been profitable. Of course, the only issue with that was he needed a merchant to identify all of his loot. And that's where Oscar's best buddy Freyd came into the picture. Since his poor showing at the Raid, Oscar had spent many a day dreaming of calling Comcast Customer Support and threatening to slap them with a lawsuit. More for the embarrassment than any actual threat it had posed to his life. In any case, Oscar dashed into Freyd's shop and dropped his stuff on the counter. Then, he placed a vial of goo on top of the pile gingerly and waited patiently for his buddy to take notice.

Koga walked into the 'store'...well, by Koga's observation, it was more of a little outdoor...stall? Flea market??? Well, whatever it was it was four walls and a door short of being a full store. In any case, Koga wasn't here to critique Freyd on his architectural design (or lack thereof).

The loud Scottish? Irish? woman, however, made Koga forget exactly why he'd come. He'd forgotten that Quip had mentioned working for Freyd. After greeting the woman, and surviving her onslaught of...well her being her, Koga finally managed to leave behind three unknown items for evaluation, alongside a bag of col, for services rendered.
