Real name: Senri Rikisetsu

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Height: 170cm (5’5”ish)

About

While he was your everyday high school student by day, Senri had a bad habit of picking fights with anyone fighting out of their weight class, even if he was doing so in the process. This led to a lot of shifting between homes, and even then his rep as a ‘bully hunter’ didn’t do him any favors in making friends… at least it didn’t IRL.

History

Born to a Salaryman father and a work-from-home mother, attention wasn’t something Senri got a lot of in his life, leading him to excel in his studies despite the lack of acknowledgement from those he wanted to impress. What this did earn him however, was a damn good duo of friends in Reigen and Soryu, who introduced him to the wonderful world of MMO’s and gaming as a whole. Given that his family didn’t exactly complain about their sons newfound hobby, especially given the decrease in his fights at school and his new sense of happiness. Over the next few years, the trio would play a variety of games together, and hang out even outside of school, as Senri has finally managed to settle down at one school after years of transfers due to well-intentioned delinquency. Finally, in their last year of High School, Soryu introduces Senri and Reigen to VR gaming, even buying Senri his first headset for it and promising to help him set up. However, this eventually led to his inevitable entrapment in the world of SAO, and with only himself to rely on, Senri quickly had to find work with the skills he had, making the best of a lonely and desperate situation.

Personality

Despite his blunt and distant demeanor, if you can manage to be one of the rare few who befriend him legitimately, you will have the world’s best ally on your side, as a loyal, trustworthy, and even tactically useful friend. A little bit twisted with his sense of humor, but given his status in a Death Game, I think that’s understandable, and even with his blunt nature, he can tell when he’s making someone uncomfortable and can go to the tried and true method of staying quiet. A very determined young man that despite lacking in social etiquette, is always willing to make friends, despite being hesitant to be the one making that first step, preferring to stay ‘Professional’ until an opportunity arises.

Virtues:

Studious - Senri puts a lot of effort and hard work into his studies, hoping to impress with everything he does. This leads him to learn as much as he can about any new topic that catches his eye, often discovering new topics to research. Due to this, he makes an excellent compendium of knowledge for his fellow party members.

Pragmatic - Senri is never one to sugarcoat a situation, and while he is adamant about seeking out the best path regardless of the odds, he’s smart enough to recognize said odds in the first place. By keeping his expectations of a given situation reasonable, he can react appropriately and not over/underestimate his own abilities. While this can often lead him to ‘drag down’ on an Optimists enthusiasm, it is of great use when dealing with Pessimism due to his easy breakdowns of a given scenario/predicament.

Adaptive - Senri has always been used to shifting situations in his home life, so while SAO might provide him with a rather unique challenge, he’s always ready to adapt to the given problem. On top of his previous knowledge outside of SAO allowing him to perform actual swordplay alongside the Sword Art System, that studious mind of his is always crafting up new plans to use. Senri could easily fill in the role of a strategist with any team that could ‘gel with’ him, but he also excels in Solo play due to this trait, as he can easily use a workaround in most one on one combat.

Flaws:

Reference: http://darkworldrpg.com/character-flaws/

Blunt - Senri was never a kid to mince words before getting trapped in a death game, and that certainly hasn’t helped. Even if he tried to he’d just end up defaulting back to his traditional manners after attempting to stutter out a nicer rendition, and that’s assuming he even tries to. Facts and terminology is all well and good, but social interaction usually dictates a certain level of etiquette that Senri lacks. Which leads into his next flaw...

Distant - All that knowledge and pragmatism is nearly useless until he decides to trust ya, and unfortunately that’s a long process. While he isn’t against making allies and even friends, he’s not exactly good at making them due to his closed off playstyle not being very conducive to social development. Combining that with his blunt nature makes very few people naturally receptive to his personality.

Spiteful - On the opposite end of his ‘friendliness spectrum’ is the duration of any grudge he holds because by god they are extraordinary. While it takes a lot to get on his bad side, it’s only because once you’re there, there is little to no chance of escaping it, especially if it’s because you hurt one of the few people he is close to. Getting and keeping a red cursor is a pretty good way to end up here, and if you’re unrepentant about it, he may be getting an orange marker of his own shortly after...
